    The clutch in these has automatic transmission fluid in it and it slows down gradually when it gets done spinning. Really a good machine. I used to work on them and they had 3 belts that had to be evenly tightened to work properly. Great machine.

    I have a 2013 speed queen with dials and I am going to get one for my daughter to have in her laundry room. Love it. my SQ is loud. Washes my laundry very nice and clean. 😁. Would not trade it for anything else. My Speed queen has an old fashioned timer, but the newer ones after 2017 have electronics even with the knobs.

    Solid ! best ever ! these are good machines, back in the 70s my dad was ordering full 48 footer truck load of speed queen washers ( with stainless tub ) , he was getting special deals by ordering larger orders, $50 each, that is a long time ago. shit I'm old, I recently bought a brand new Speed Queen TR5 in dec 2019 with 10 years waranty, I like it, I also have an old Speed Queen wringer washer in mint condition. I once had a coin operated Speed queen set in the 80s and I should have never let it go

      You can customize how you wash. For example, you can do normal fabrics, cold wash, and heavy soil for heavily soiled dark colored cottons.

    I once had one just like yours I was amazed at how fast the tub emptied out to start spinning.Then I found out the water is actually spun out of the top of the tub into a way bigger tub where the pump is so while its spinning its also pumping the water out that was so fastly droped in it.I think its neat.

    I just don't wash lites and darks together. I have been around SpeedQueens most all my life. My dad purchased them for his first coin laundry in 1958. Those washers took a lot of consumer abuse. They had an overflow rinse . Small socks would float over the tub blocking the pump drain. or getting into the pump.This was probably due to overloading which was unavoidable.I have a 2017 SQ that cleans better than my top of the line Kenmore I had for 25 years. When the tub bearings went out. I gave it up. I had prolonged its life longer than my repairman thought necessary.

    • @alecvip7562
      @alecvip7562 4 роки тому

      @@fargeeks most likely not. Direct drives with 2 piece agitators will clean better than speed queen. he might've had a belt drive with 2 piece agitator or the agitator dogs wore out and he never replaced them.

    Nice machine. Strange the way the spin just seems to slowly wind down, and start to fill for the rinse, and the motor keeps on chugging on.

    • @Gsohoover
      @Gsohoover  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you, this machine uses solenoids for making the machine wash and spin. The tub slowing down is because of a lack of a tub brake.

    After watching your videos, particularly washers with timed fills, if you have low water pressure, would the washer underfill?

    • @Gsohoover
      @Gsohoover  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, it would. You would have to set a longer fill to help offset that.

      @@cdcVintage im lucky my 2019 speed Queen washer and dryer have knob controls ;)
      Although the washer uses its own cycle programs, but i can easily extend more cycle times by canceling the current cycle and restart it, and all the washer will do is continue the wash action by going through a new wash cycle ( provided that you do it before the washer starts draining)
      But yeah ^_^

      Actually, we had cheap crappy machines in the 70s and 80s. Look up machines made by White Consolidated Industries (WCI). They weren't made all that well, the tubs indexed like crazy and just weren't a reliable machine. Sold under various names. They killed off alot of good unique machines. (Kelvinator, Westinghouse, Frigidaire to name a few)

    • @ericpippen7915
      @ericpippen7915 4 роки тому

      @@fargeeks they do use a computer control board just like the new washing machines. There are none left that use good old fashioned mechanical timers, as far as I know of. Speed Queen does have the best and most reliable control boards on the market today hands down! I just purchased an early 2000''s Maytag Performa and had to replace the thurst bearing, belt, and drain pump and this thing washes like a CHAMP, but it is still a true Maytag before Whirpool bought them. I had the new "old" style Spees Queen for about a month, but my luck would have it, it was one of the very few that had major issues. The balancing springs where damaged during shipping, the tub was off some how, and just a few other odd things. I told them to just come take it back and give me my money back (just had a MAJOR surgery on my hip and needed to save as much as I could why I bought used Maytag). Now that I am recovering money wise from that as soon as this Maytag dies I will be getting the Speed Queen TC5000 again because I LOVED that machine
