    This is THE DUMBEST space battle in the history of the film making. Period. Lame replica of the worst battles in star wars. All foundation ships were able to jump, but they never did. Neither side had any merit in their tactics. Well, actually, no tactics whatsoever to speak of. Just a dumb collision of brute force. The whole lot on Terminus was supposed to be smarter, than the emperor, but there was not a single second in this show, when this was evident.
    Overall the foundation bunch on Terminus is represented in this series like a bunch of idiots without slightest hints of agency. Regardless of the fact, that they are supposed to be the brightest minds of the galaxy. Writers of this scenario have no fantasy and no tactical merit whatsoever. They just copy things that they have seen elsewhere and pack it into a weird costume drama. Without understanding, what the original writings were about. An insult to the story created by Isaac Asimov.

    It's been a long minute since I've read the original trilogy (need to correct that), but I think by the time the Empire actually came to blows with the Foundation, the former had forgotten even how most of its systems worked. Foundation ships were advanced, but what won the day was the fact that the Empire had stagnated and hadn't fought an actual war in nearly forever. And was so intellectually backward that the Foundation was able to start a Cult Mechanicus.

    • @Alamandorious
      @Alamandorious 11 місяців тому +24

      Yep. Also, Terminus was never destroyed.

    • @nerva-
      @nerva- 9 місяців тому +10

      I wouldn't say the Empire had "forgot how its systems worked", rather there was a dearth of trained engineers, so the designs of the newer ships was far worse than the older ones, and they had a lot of trouble keeping them in service. Simply because of its immense scale, the Empire's fleet still had far greater firepower than that of the Federation, and Bel Riose had superior grasp of strategy and tactics compared to the inexperienced Foundation navy.

    • @weldonwin
      @weldonwin 9 місяців тому +19

      The thing that defeated Bel Riose wasn't The Foundation and their technology, it was the forces of sociology and politics, with the Emperor back on Trantor being unable to tolerate a strong and capable underling who could potentially supplant him and take the throne for himself. Bel Rios, was rolling over the Foundation navy, carving a path to Terminus, until the Emperor yanks his chain and has him executed for treason.

      @@weldonwin Yep, I remember that. Empires can be efficient and powerful, but the more power that rests on the shoulders of one person, the more that person grows paranoid that someone will take it.

      Is curious that, while the trireme class warships (the standard ones like the Aegis and the ones that bombarded anacreon and thespis) are designed "verticaly" and operate in that position, the Destiny only appears to position itself "verticaly" while jumping, lies and seems to be designed to operate "horizontally" (All of this, in reference, we can't forget that is space at the end of the day).
      Also i would like to see where the ship's bridge is located. A high resolution model will be awesome, of the destiny and the Switchback fighters.

      I have only read the books years ago and didn't give a try to this tv-show yet, so in the book it is like this:
      A young, competent Empire's Admiral sees the 150 years old, small, but inventive Foundation as a growing threat to the declining Empire. He does launch an "invasion" to Foundation space with 6 or so top-of-the-line battleships. The Foundation is slowly loosing ground. Eventually the Admiral's fleet is called off as he himself was recognized as a growing threat to the Emperor and nobles.
      During one of the dialogs between him and a protagonist from the Foundation it is explained to him, that no matter what his actions were or will be, he will lose. If he brought a single battleship, it would be destroyed alongside with him. If he brought an entire Imperial navy, he would lose due to internal strife and questioning, why he wasted resources on such an insignificant mini-Empire made out of a handful of planets, when there are Imperial systems rebeling against the Emperor's will. Empire at this point was well past the golden, let alone pro-expansion policies. Elites were ripping what powers they could or themselves and a competent, strong, to their will unbending admiral, be it a loyal patriot, was too much to be left unrestrained.

      How stupid does one have to be to not realize that when a show or movie does this whole "space battles with sound in the vacuum of space", that it's only done so as a shorthand for the audience who would otherwise not get the impact of a battle if it was happening in silence?
      Also, how stupid does presumably that same guy have to be to go looking for scientific accuracy in a Science FICTION show in which people have personal force field protective auras and they can manipulate singularities to fold space for faster than light travel?
      Oh, there you are...

    Its good fantasy movie but im so hate how bacwards technologi is there.... They literary have Stuff like nanobots but still most of the people live in rusty sheads ......
    Its nonsencical to the point absurdity.....
    Closest to the futuristic powerty was cloud atlass where you can see extremely clean borderline perfect enviroments but still empty whit everything else being projection.
    This is how it shud be nanobots shud keep everything EXTREMELY CLEAN shining and perfect.
    And technological advance shud be exponential not slowing down.....
    Entire premise of foundation is retarded to ..... why choose knowledge??? Just build thousands of bunkers everywere whit ALL THE KNOWLEDGE.....
    Your nanobots can easili keep it working for thousands of years .....
    All you need to find is best locations for those valuts......
    ITs so simple that its getting absurd again,......

      @munkitchew5829 11 місяців тому

      The premise of foundation is found in the books, and from what you said, probably not well presented in the TV series. It is about psychology.
      Consider this, if you work, would you like it if pple tell you that you are not doing a good job? How would most pple react to such? In context, the central govt (and Emperor) are not doing a good job, thus the gradual fall of the civilization. Telling them to build bunkers of knowledge is the same as outright saying that. Which they will charge you with treason. That is exactly what is Foundation is trying to do (build bunkers of knowledge), and how the conflict (seen as rebels) thus began.

    actualy if we ever did space battles with small fighters it will be back to the dog fighting style because in space the only way to actually land a hit on a small fast target is at very very close range, the only reliable long range weapon would be missiles but they cant be too fast or they will overshot their targets all the time so a simple point defense system will render those useless.
    only big space ships can do long range combat and even then it would take insane calculations to land a hit, and the further the target is the less chance u have to hit it even with the best computers running the numbers.
    even energy-based weapons would be hard put to land hits in space on moving tagets because lasers are just stupid and easy to defend against (reflective surfaces come to mind) and plasma moves slower than light speed and these are the only energy based weapons we can actually create in reality.

I think apple TV has been exposed of lazy script writing ., it doesnt explain the 150 plus years prep time , even one episode (which i watched) where theyre psuedo tech priest (which ironically wears red) says that all the SHIPS they prepared are EXPENSIVE
    seriously that what happens when you dont faithfully adapt to the book , result is lazy script writing and a TON OF PLOT HOLES ., its so bad , i might as well think that apple tv might have hired disney writers 😂😂😂

    I really like that they are all without any personal protective equipment. Any smoke, a hole in the hull, failure of artificial gravity, dynamic impact, all this leads to the death of the crew of any ship shown in this video. That is, we are simply facing suicide bombers, they have two options - either complete integrity of the ship and victory, or the slightest malfunction and death.
