It was also ineffective for its cost at over 34,000 materials. However, it’s all good, because the next ship I built, the Vector Torpedo Boat, was miles better at naval combat and costed just a bit over half as much as the Viper did, so I keep it saved for its significance and potential to retrofit.

Seriously, at one point the guns defaulted to .01 degree error, but nope.. They went to the full 2 degrees at somepoint of creating. Here I thought it was because of too short averaging on range estimation. On Flipside, the long range ships hit real hard (at the cost of not hitting planes with other than dedicated AA) But hey, here is hoping Brandon will come back soon and kick your ass with his ultimate light carrier revised.
I saw the Kingstead and I thought it was dangerous at all so my first ship was a huge battleship called the Kingskiller. Two large main guns that weren't terrible (a bit) but made so that a turret cap wasn't feasible, and that was basically it. The deck looked like an empty football field with 1 meter of metal everywhere.

Neither of them could fire the mediocre PAC cannons I gave them because I neglected to add batteries.
The first ship I built was over 300 blocks long and 50 wide. It was made entirely of metal blocks and had a turret that was a 20x20 with like nothing in it. It had a giant ammo store right next to the AI and sank instantly due to being one giant chamber with single block thick armour
definitely reminds me of my first builds. although i tried to cram in 2 APS guns, missiles, torpedoes, lams, engines and storage into a 30x5 wooden hull. Spent hours on it figuring everything ouut just to get completely demoralized as it got curved by the most basic enemy craft. but 300 or so hours later i can consider myself an...adequate builder. Maybe. Atleast not too terrible.
My first ship was absolutely tiny with a square hull, I don’t even know how it works but it’s surprisingly powerful with high dps although immediately dies to any sort of heavier weaponary.
I got the game the first year it came to Steam and built many ships out of single blocks. Since I like to build off of existing hulls instead of building from scratch I still have to deal with them.
I have trouble with shaping the fore and aft ends of my ships when I build large but when I built them, I incorporated many design elements I saw in real world warships. Things such as making a casemate armour belt in front of the citadel to protect it. That's where I keep vital components as well as where enough buoyancy is stored to keep the ship afloat even if every other compartment below the waterline were to flood.
Good for him to have fun but with how much I overthink and find my crafts bad, this is a bit reassuring, although, gonna be honest, does highlight a couple issues I still make (like the inaccuracy setting and overall settings for ships). And thinking about it, out of all the tutorial I found, it's often just "here, do that" and rarely showing what not to do (which you can hardly list everything seeing the endless possibilities) but also rarely about general idea of how it works too so you can do your own stuff. Same for the ip about repair bots, I do the same already (if not just forget to add them) but I've rarely seen people mention that. I can't remember much about shield tutorial either, not quite how set them up but more a lack of when to use them or not.
At least the Ticonderoga #2 floats! My Monitor Mk I has a tendency to yeet itself into space (a problem for a stealth corvette) and the Mk II alternates between yeeting itself throughout the cosmos and just kinda giving up and capsizing, which is also a problem for a combat corvette.
I had to get upwards of 30 thousand blocks to build something that costed over 1m resources, and that was a ship loaded to the brim with missiles, a massive steam engine that generates almost 100 thousand excess energy (it generates 500 thousand), majority dual lined shields, a giant LAMS system, triple AI to command every feature such as its experimental laser anti air system, excessive repair spam (for emergencies) and a mass of missiles to overwhelm and murder everything that moves too erratically to get shot by the cannons/if they are destroyed, then again i have dual lined armor in everything but the roof in which case i have three meters. In the case of the Z42, i've witnessed it sink four pilferers, three prowlers and i believe a crossbones as that fleet's lead ship simultaneously because they simply couldn't follow after me and yet i had access to a whole assortment of varied and lethal long range equipment to simply maul that fleet to death, all that while sustaining no damage due to alot of strength 10 shields and the work of its LAMS system slaughtering them, however it has one problem and its that the LAMS defense mechanism fails to full its energy supply which is highly problematic
Better than my very first builds many hours ago. those didnt even float without downward facing propellers. I still might have them, with the former custom cannons and some weird frag settings because of age.
i love noob ships, especially my own, because they are very easy to refit, and make significantly more capable, because of many general mistakes that when fixed makes it a viable craft, either way cheaper or way more powerful by the wnd
The only way you can criticize a noob is if you were never a noob yourself. I learn all kinds of things at such a breakneck pace that all my nicknames amount to me being labelled either an AI or a robot. But I still have to LEARN things. I wasn't just born knowing them. I didn't just log in for the first time, or pick up a wrench, and instantly know in that moment what I came to know today.. Nope: I was a noob, too. It's kind of a fallacy to get on people's cases about being noobs. It just makes them not want to share in the past times and activities you enjoy so much. I instead prefer to help them when the opportunity arises, so they can be as passionate as I am and I can have one more person to ramble to about our shared interest.
@@BorderWise12 Agreed. I wasn't specific enough about "criticize" in my case meaning "mean spirited criticism." Constructive criticism meant to teach is obviously all well and good.
honestly , this thing is better than my most recent and my most "advanced" ship i done. it definitly have better turret designs ( design , not placement) becouse my ship , that is around half of this monstrosity supose to have small aa gun , ended up having AA 88 mm 6 cannon monstrosity that taking half of deck space and is bigger than brigde. my hull look a bit better , but is empty inside and have literally no armour. apart from flak , it also haves 2 medium sized torpedo launchers that throws torpedo up and on the side , that with addition to circle enemy behevior torpedo itself 80% of time. it also have decent flare system and huge ass oversized not efficient engine , that i cant really use becouse of its stability. ship goes around 16 m/s with 4600 engine power and it tilling itself after few seconds of AA fire. it dont turn well and cant kill even maruder , simply becouse it sinks from its own torpedoes right after starting a battle. cost is 20000 resources , not well for torpedoes , AA and zero armour. beat me on that !
also yesteday , i done really nice looking , quite big wooden hull , that i dont really known what to do with , so on broadsides in decorative wooden ribs , i installed , listen this , 80 METERS medium missles. those thing cost 7400 ammo to fire and deal like idk , 2000 explosive dmg at most ? something like that . well , i made it for clear meme and scrapped them instantly. but i ended up with hull with no purpose. i literally ditched this hull becouse i dont known how to make cannons , reinforce it and make it affordable. at least this time engine was smaller and it is quite stable

it may be not the best ship but as a professional ship rater(on looks only) this would be a nice addition to my chaos insurgent fleet that fleet is made of (hopefully) mostly weird designs that should never work in practice but is a good thought
I just started playing this game and I've been playing it offline. I've been trying my hardest to figure out the mechanics. I just built two ships that can barely fight the deep water guard.
@@BorderWise12 That's great, I just got into the game and I am learning fairly quick due to you, I already have made a good ship that can take on most AI ships in it's same class or even higher and come out with only a few scratches. Unfortunately I am progressing into parts of the game where enemy craft stop making sense.
Borderwise, I am happy to say I'm currently updating the singularity. It might get added into the game (I've sent a note to Nick and Hikari when they come back) so mind if you do a most wanted on it after I fix it and if it gets added into the game? PS. I made it a lot stronger good luck. >:D
I got the singularitys little warp dance working. I found a way to get the warp drives working. I fixed the recoil problem that was making the thing trip backwards untill it got out of range. The best you can do right now, is to hit the thing from the back with lazers. Only 1 layer of metal and no Lazer shielding. I'm also planning to add a PAC on the front. Although I might fix that.. >>:D
If it happens in my testing I'll add simple lazers. The Lazer shields sucking engine power instead of electricity meant lots of electricity power which is currently unused.
Deck guns are generally a bad idea because they put a lot of expensive and/or volatile components above deck where they're more likely to be shot at. Because they do this they also tend to be bigger, making them an easy target to boot. Turrets (both APS and CRAM) which keep most of their components within the hull of a craft are more survivable and can be larger without making the ship significantly wider, taller or longer.
I'm also a newbie and my ships look like if every ship just has to be 230 meters long they have 2 layers of armour and rail guns or particle cannons or laser I just don't use cram I don't know how they work
Hey borderwise, I am currently building a giant battle ship. It's main weopons are 4 500 mm triple advanced cannon turrets which fire thump. It also has a broadside array of 200 mm advanced cannons (I think it's 200 mm). I also plan to arm it with DIF smoke guns and deck guns. Any recommendations or changes?
Anti sub/anti torp he's got a vid on that and it depends personally if the main guns are hard hitting long reload you want them complemented with high rpm secondary guns also having some kind of ams is good. You can always go to his discord there are a lot of helpful people there
@@edwinrose5240 the main guns just delete tons of armor and fire once every five seconds. The thing is that I don't exactly have room for rapid firing guns, the broadside array fires once every second in volleys of nine. Did I mention two very small and slow firing AA lasers.
@@andy2670 lol, any ways, the deck guns will be DIF and there is probably only going to be five (excluding the smoke guns) and it should not be over 500k materials.
@@Electric_Bagpipes It does, Hollow Point is basically getting slapped by a shell, and it used to be better than AP in some situations and the head of choice for 500mm guns, got a nerf some time ago and not so much now a days.

So you're telling me taking 2 Bulwarks, combining them (both in size and firepower), and coating the whole thing in 3 block thick metal armor is a BAD thing. Riiiiiight...
It still depends on how competently and efficiently you put everything together. The Bulwark is actually not a good craft to do that with, because it's full of inefficiencies: its engines, its armour design, its weapons and so on. It also depends on how many blocks your PC can handle...
@@BorderWise12 It's been a chore, but I've learned so much about CRAMs, engines, armor, and ship design (especially the OW and their cheeky air gaps and aimpoint spoofing). I kinda imagine it as like an OW version of the Megaladon. Ridiculously big guns, thick armor, and huge size.

@@BorderWise12 It might not be as clear to people who havent played for long. Physically building a shell as a form of explaining rather than just verbally. Theres like 30 different options for shell customization. Eg This is a working emp setup, and heres what the damage (physically not number value) that it does and what that damage looks like on a ship. Demonstrative, this is what a 500 mm HE shells damage looks like on a ship. For instance you can say yes AP damage of 60 but i have no idea what that looks like as physical damage on a ship. As velocity and mass matter so does the distance.

A ship turned hovercraft, armed with 2x6 100mm cannons that can fire VERY fast (over 1k rpm).
"its not the size of the boat, its the motion of the ocean"
this is small by Ascendancy Roma's standards
Well if they didn't go nuts with the missile cost than the missiles would not be a issue
this is true, its no longer a missile meta sadly enough.
At least the Ticonderoga #2 floats!
My Monitor Mk I has a tendency to yeet itself into space (a problem for a stealth corvette)
and the Mk II alternates between yeeting itself throughout the cosmos and just kinda giving up and capsizing, which is also a problem for a combat corvette.

This guy would have a goddamn field day over Martincitopants’ Big Yamato.
Heeeey glad to see a long boi for once, too thin for my taste but I guess it's a light cruiser after all.
hey my fellow man of culture
It has that cult following vibe... you know?
Edit : (after looking at price tag) YO HOL UP
Lol back in the day I used to make multiple repair drones. Just small thruster crafts packed with repair tenticals
Hahahahahahahah
Putting the light stuff on the bottom actually works just fine if you make catamarans or trimarans.
Hey! Did you poke into my steam FtD library to get that ship? Oh wait, it's too good to be one of mine hehe.
Thats just depressing ngl
Better than my very first builds many hours ago. those didnt even float without downward facing propellers. I still might have them, with the former custom cannons and some weird frag settings because of age.
i love noob ships, especially my own, because they are very easy to refit, and make significantly more capable, because of many general mistakes that when fixed makes it a viable craft, either way cheaper or way more powerful by the wnd
I love 'em because they remind me of my own fumbling around 5000 hours ago, and because it's so cool to see someone improve at this game. :)
You can criticise a noob, but only if it is fair and helpful criticism.
Valid point you make, EVERYBODY was a noob once. 😁
I made the mistake of building the bottom of my heavy cruiser out of light alloy and everytime it gets hit by a torpedo it capsizes
Reinforced decking, light alloy on the outside, layer of heavy armor....you could just use anti-torpedo measures which are a LOT cheaper.
F
You can actually make that work if your ship is wide enough. Usually it has to be at least 30% wider than its height
That is a verified bruh build moments
Now I thought my ship was trash
But this is worst in terms of size and cost
This is what I love about your channel, you don't just show the best and the biggest, and managed to call this ship a noob ship while not being insulting 🤣 Although if you really want to see noob building you should see my craft 😅
only 250M? that's just a patrol boat!
Just a dingy, really.
If THAT is a patrol boat, then mine is an ERTL sunshine with some floating things and a house fly for a helicopter.
That thing has a bloody warp drive!
it may be not the best ship
but as a professional ship rater(on looks only) this would be a nice addition to my chaos insurgent fleet
that fleet is made of (hopefully) mostly weird designs that should never work in practice but is a good thought
so you dont like a comically large spoon?
The M3 Lee as a ship
I just started playing this game and I've been playing it offline.
I've been trying my hardest to figure out the mechanics.
I just built two ships that can barely fight the deep water guard.
do be honest, my ships seem noob after watching this.
Quite pretty ship tho
the queestion is what sort of monster PC does the creator have to be able to build that ship?
Honestly you could build a ship this good with an 8 year old i5, you really wouldn’t need a good cpu to build it.
The first i made was just a block of heavy armor with a cram on top. when i turned of caps lock it just sank
Cant wait to show off my 4km pt boat
Lol
I feel kinda bad for brandon after that roast in the beginning.
It's alright, he's cool with it. And he's still making gigantic craft and loving every second of it. 😁
@@BorderWise12 That's great, I just got into the game and I am learning fairly quick due to you, I already have made a good ship that can take on most AI ships in it's same class or even higher and come out with only a few scratches. Unfortunately I am progressing into parts of the game where enemy craft stop making sense.
Can someone tell me how do you fit 1 million material in 30000 volume using light alloy ??
Missiles, subvehicles, and subvehicles with a lot of missiles.
@@BorderWise12 oh
Borderwise,
I am happy to say I'm currently updating the singularity. It might get added into the game (I've sent a note to Nick and Hikari when they come back) so mind if you do a most wanted on it after I fix it and if it gets added into the game?
PS. I made it a lot stronger good luck. >:D
Yes! Thank you! That is the most requested Most Wanted of all time! :D
... I'm going to need all of that luck aren't I? o_O
why not make it a mele pac? that thing was always derpy and collision prone anyway
If it happens in my testing I'll add simple lazers. The Lazer shields sucking engine power instead of electricity meant lots of electricity power which is currently unused.
I myself am a new player can I ask why deck guns are bad and where I should put them instead then?
Deck guns are generally a bad idea because they put a lot of expensive and/or volatile components above deck where they're more likely to be shot at. Because they do this they also tend to be bigger, making them an easy target to boot.
Turrets (both APS and CRAM) which keep most of their components within the hull of a craft are more survivable and can be larger without making the ship significantly wider, taller or longer.
Ah okay thanks I’ll remember to keep that in mind when making ships
now i kinda want you to reveiw one of my craft. im interested in how badly i built it.
my ships are so compact I have to use PID blocks to keep them floating
F to overheating cylinder
Wait i built a ship thats 14 500 blocks weighs over 2 that much, 260x35x38 and it cost less than 300k yet that one costs over a million?
Missiles R Expensive.
@@BorderWise12 still thats over 700k how many missiles did he put on that bloddy boat
2:30 in to the video and I see a ship that seems good on paper until you consider the armor the resource storage and stuff
I'm also a newbie and my ships look like if every ship just has to be 230 meters long they have 2 layers of armour and rail guns or particle cannons or laser I just don't use cram I don't know how they work
.
Granted, the likes of the Mogami and Town are only 4/5th as long, but even that thing still seems excessively large for a CL
You can always go to his discord there are a lot of helpful people there
First recommendation: Humble yourself.
Honestly thought this was a troll at first
btw, borderwise, what is your opinion on the devs adding in a thump head for aps? would it be too op or just the right amount of fun? just a thought
Umm... that already exists in the form of Hollow-Point and HESH?
@@BorderWise12 waaait, does hollow point actualy work like that? sorry, i havent been on the game for a while, since my comp broke, i forgot :/
@@Electric_Bagpipes It does, Hollow Point is basically getting slapped by a shell, and it used to be better than AP in some situations and the head of choice for 500mm guns, got a nerf some time ago and not so much now a days.
@@Electric_Bagpipes Yup, that's how HP works. :)
"look at the cost of this thing" may be a problem for the campaing, my advernure ship is at 1.2ish milions by now and ruling the seas
Yeah but you couldnt do that with this ship lol
Still better than any of my ships.
I wish you still took submissions, I'm curious as to your reactions to my so called "Dakkaboat" which is well over 4 million in just cost of the guns
It's unfortunate, I know. But if your craft costs 4 million just for the guns, my PC probably couldn't handle it anyway. 😅
Love your videos but the music is to loud. I can barley pay attention to you talking when all i can hear is the music.
Blast. I'll work on that, cheers.
@@BorderWise12 Thank you but do keep up the Great work
@@sparkyails123 Thanks, I will. 😁
Hmm...my triple barreled 60mms have a range of 8k+... Yeah, this guy is a builder not a player. You dont need ballast tanks for torpedoes though, not if your using remote guidance. I was able to hit any ship or sub in my tests once i had the system up and running and supported be appropriate detection.
His ship is just dated..would have been ok a few years ago.
it looks very nice
As a new player to this game...
This video made me feel so extremely discouraged and shat on. I was so happy and proud of my ship and it's so much worse than this one... hole moly.
Aw no, sorry to hear that! That was not the intention of the video, I assure you! Getting anything working in this game is an accomplishment, so don't be discouraged! ✊
@@BorderWise12 Thanks for the kind words. But I can assure you, my adventure mode ship would indeed make you faint. Thinking about the sheer size of it makes me laugh now, too. Thanks for the helpful videos, don't be discouraged by whiny people like me.
Most ww2 battleships were nowhere near that long. Jesus.
BRO YALL CALLING THIS BAD I HAVE 9 hours and my ship is like 5000 matriels and only has 2 missile launcers and like about no armor
Its better than the ships I built. Trust me you should know if you seen them lol.
thats no light cruiser
thats a battlecruiser
Also your videos have helped immensely with learning how the game works. Cant thank you enough.
@@beanlord4347 You're welcome! Glad I could help. 😁
i wouldn't call it bad bad, it's layout is bit.... not the best but in DPS stand point, it fares well.

Pwnicus Music he was joking
False, there is no V hull.
They alway say war is fought with money
jeez if you call that s noob ship you should have seen my first ship thing that thing is horrific to a standard from the depths player if you would see it you would cry so horrably bad is that ship
can someone help me make a machine gun with decent explosive rounds and distance?
I've been playing this game since not long after it came out and the stuff i make is still worse so
Edit: ok nvm I take that back a bit
Following Lathland videos might not be the best idea, for the first 2 seasons, he build out of single blocks, with no slopes and always had deck turrets, and even had a lot of non turreted guns, even tho they could be the same on a turret
It's called light carrier cause it's made of wood 🤣
I'm lead on a team of irl engineers whom collectively have just over a hundred hours in game. We built a ship that commits two of your "sins" and we're currently smashing every challenger on reddit. I challenge your 'best' ship to a duel against our ship.
Hey borderwize love your videos. But if you are going to critique, you should be more constructive, its useless to know that the ammo configs for the cannons are ineffective if you dont show us how to make them effective. EG Show in the video, what you would have changed to ammo to make the noob ship less noob.
But he explained it
@@CreeperDude-cm1wv Show us.....Thats why its a video format. Explicative, demonstrative.
... I did. Twice. 7:40 and 27:47.
