@@snowdrop9810 The missions i talk about are the prequel to those missions, the old tutorial. It is the same as the essential tutorial only its cached in the river rat story.
Good video. A lot of creators are very bad at explaining the mechanics of this game to newbies, you break it down and focus on the basics which is very useful early on.
If you are ever stuck in space drifting like in this intro, don't forget you can always remove your shoes/clothing etc, and throw them, to change your velocity and/or heading slightly.
That´s exactly why I chose to whack my head on the satellite to change my trajectory back downwards. Undressing didn´t cross my mind at the time but a very good point.
It will be a "long time" series for sure since it´s the other games turn again so it will take a bit until the next FtD video is up. But there is seven campaigns, the adventure mode and four other planets ... I have a lot to do XD
I´d love to show other early designs but this seems to be the only one left ... and yes, they all had the hydrodynamics of a birck and the combat strengh of a sponge.
@@MrStasyan2013 A friend of mine and I actually built a trireme (or something close to it) that was propelled by oars including a dude on the drums ... it looked hilarious XD
You no longer need to use physical block-built ammo customizers. If you go into the APS input feeder menu you can create 'built-in' shells that save to the craft without any physical customizer blocks.
Yeah thanks for the tip, someone else also mentioned that. I haven´t played for a long time and I´m just way to used to it ... it´s not gonna change anytime soon. How does it work with multiple turrets tho? Can I copy the shell over?
Damn, I wish this was one of the first videos that introduced me into FTD. You made a really good job explaining the game and how to build a craft that works, without spending too much time explaining mechanics that a beginner doesn't need to care about yet. We have good and hard working content creators in the community that reveal the game mechanics, but they for sure don't make concise and short tutorials (Sorry BorderWise and Gmodism!).
Really? I thought this might be overly hectic and hard to follow. And someone else also made a good point, that the Advanced Cannons might not be the most beginner friendly unless you use the ready-made ones on the right side. But thank you very much for the compliment :D
Most excellent video! I too, miss the old ammo, fuel and material system. Also, explaning some of the rather comlicated mechanics in FTD in a very concise way is superb! Anyway, have a grand old time conquering Neter!
I´m gonna try my best but the struggle is gonna happen. Thanks for liking it tho ... someone pointed out in the comments that you can actually play the old versions in the Steam Beta options.
Going to have to disagree with you on the material change. It made playing the campaign more streamlined and intuitive, and was introduced specifically because the devs could see what percentage of people were playing the campaign... and it was hardly any of them, specifically because the resource management got in the way of the combat. I do agree about the tracer rounds though, I miss the old ones too. 🎆🎇🎆
Well maybe I´m the odd one out then because I find this version of the management gets in my way more than necessary. Maybe because I was too used to managing it like I did back then ... for the tracers I feel like "Look what they did to my boy" XD
@@Mediaahhthe timing you had the tracer's up was good it took my brain .47 seconds to remember my first build, although id did not type that well. 😅 great vid btw 😁👍
I thought it was fine when it condensed to materials, fuel and ammo, but I really don't like the catch all stuff now, just makes it feel dumbed down and a bit of a nuisance with everything being shared.
I really enjoyed your format (nice reference to Mart’s KSP series by the way) But it’s nice to hear your monotone, highly serious tone when compared to the majority who try this style who go a little too over the top. I find it much more funny.
Eyyyyy good stuff man! You should definitely try those flamers out if your gonna finish off the DWG, they can be DEVASTATING to them! (Along side incendiary rounds)
Yeah when I used them for the demonstration those ships just melted away in moments. That´s why I had to use large targets. Almost overpowered these things XD
Yeah the fuel and ammo change sucked. I used to have a jet specifically for destroying the LH fuel reserves so they couldn't fight. You don't need to build and remove a block anymore. When you save it there is a 'bump version' button you can use. And the APS ammo ejectors are invaluable. Once you start using them you'll never go back.
Yeah running the LHs fuel dry basically kills them. Regarding the block bit, I even mentioned in the video it´s an old habit and it refuses to go away. Maybe at some point I will learn. On this ship I agree with the ejectors but I tend to build large stuff, where all that is below deck and so that never really stuck with me and I always forget, oops :/ But I remember some years back a friend and me weaponized ejectors for a close range weapon. No gunpowder and just eject the whole clip by intentionally breaking part of the cannon XD
This reminds me of a simpler time in ftd... Where I didnt have to spend days on a silly ship and instead just build something not worrying about decos etc. Oh how times have changed... Tho I do like build mechas and putting TG faces on things so I guess that a plus
Yeah when I looked for clips of tracer rounds there was so many old videos on the game and not much current stuff in the results. And it really feels like it has been getting more attention recently

Hey, I was just looking for a campaign playthrough that went more in-depth on the actual mechanics. I want to make sure I understand the basics well enough before I decide to make the purchase, its just kinda how I am with games in general. Everything else I found was from 8 years ago...
Not sure if it is as in-depth as it could be since I´m aiming towards entertainment ... that´s what I´d like to believe at least. But if it was useful to somebody I count that as a win :D And the game itself has tons of tutorials and blueprints built in so you´re not left fending for yourself. I can´t remeber if it was a sale or the old humble bundle but I don´t think I paid full price ... looking back I would have happily paid full and I bought (and never used) the DLCs. I for one whole-heartedly recommend this game
You mean the bottom left bit right? I loved the idea of a depressed dude on a little raft (starting ship) so I added that (and yes it is kinda copied). The rest of it was already done when I started on the video about a month ago. Although that ship in the background only makes an appearance later in the campaign.
