  • Today I replace a broken exhaust gasket on my S13. I noticed by exhaust was scraping a lot more than usual, and my car started to make some really weird noise and vibration. It ended up that my one of the gaskets blew, I lost a screw, and it was almost falling off!

No so clean after my last event. It has a pretty nice hole in the muffler now. Guess its time to go straight pipe...

Doug - THANK YOU for this video. Will you marry me??? You just saved me a small fortune!! This is EXACTLY what I needed replaced - while Lexus dealership wanted to ring me up to replace entire catalytic converters ecosystem - or it would not pass inspection.
You’ve saved me a fortune and easy walk through knowledge training. Much appreciated!

Your exhaust system looks brand new. Weird that the gasket would of failed so quickly

Thank you for this video.. I got a code P0420 (bank 1) and while I was changing my oil I noticed that one bolt was missing from that sealing area so I’m suspecting there’s a leak from there that’s causing the problem. This helps solving it, thank you!

Hey! Wondering what brand your gasket is? and where you bought it? I need the exact one you have for the aftermarket exhaust I just picked up. Thanks!

GT86 Hey! So I don’t recall the last gasket I put on, but I at one point used a gasket from Vibrant (1458) and then also went directly to Greddy for the part, which I don’t recall. But if you have the exhaust they can help. Think it was like 9 bucks or something.

Like your video one thing you should be installing well using a bolt spring assembly kit resonator exhaust moves when Engine speeds up and goes from drive to reverse if you use regular Bolt & Nut the vibration will loosen them up and you'll have the same problem again. thanks for sharing your video.

Anytime u work on that type of connections u shout add some RTV because they start leaking after awhile

    • @FriedEggsandJellyfish
      @FriedEggsandJellyfish 5 років тому

Nope. Just get a quality gasket you won't have to use rtv. Rtv is when you don't have a gasket..plus makes it a pita to clean.

Can it be any similar looking gasket? Autozone couldn't find the original match but I bought one similar

francisco rojo Just make sure it's the right diameter and the bolt holes line up! If you have the same exhaust Greddy sells direct replacement, or you could go with a brand like Vibrant

    Is this car brand new?
I need some method to cut off the 2 nuts on the end of the exhaust manifold in my 2004 Toyota Corolla.
The damn nuts are WELDED to the flange! And, of course, they are super rusty.
I appreciate the effort you put into making the video, but really, it doesn't help anyone. Everybody else in the known universe has rusty bolts and nuts on their exhaust pipes, and those are stubborn critters.

Don't even bother with them. I just used a reciprocating saw with a metal cutting blade to cut off the rusty bolts without damaging the flange. You could also use an angle grinder.

r18a1USDM i did not! And I don't believe you do, but because this gasket kept breaking and my exhaust scrapes all the time I didn't really care haha

You should've cleaned it first before putting in the gasket.
