Awesome advice and great clarity offered to what can be a dark spot in home auto repair. I went to two local auto parts stores that couldn't find the "donut gasket" for my vehicle. One guy said I wouldn't be able to find one at all and tried selling me a length of steel pipe for me to cut down and grind into the general shape. Pretty interesting experience. It's helpful to know a few terms for the part you're looking for, what it's made of, and corresponding parts that should be replaced along with it. Luckily I can find a graphite gasket ring and spring bolt kit online.
