I know this goes against your brand, but your videos are easily the single most valuable resource available to improve as a filmmaker. I’m an Ursa Mini Pro G2 user myself and can’t express how excellent and helpful your content is.
I just scanned through all of the five hundred comments and only seven of us spotted your logo in the office interview! Seriously? Great channel, I've learnt heaps as an establishing documentary film-maker, this is gold! I can't thank you enough.
I shoot B roll all of the time. Now I have direction on what to shoot. B roll covers every mistake and adds interest. I've written down each step and I'll employ them in my new project, a farm museum. Many thanks!!
Great beginner tips for new shooters. Shoot three times as many tight shots compared to medium and wide combined and you'll never be stuck editing. That's real rule 10.
I can not convey how happy I am through this message, but amongst all these UA-cam gurus that know it all and don't; who keep showing things as a buffer of practical information YOU are the only one that I've learned the most from! I appreciate it. Please keep these kinds of works on your channel
I have watched a couple of B roll videos. Your video was the most simplistic and best one that I understood. Most You Tube video creator try to impress themselves in their videos. Thanks you
Shot TV news for over 30 years until I got tired of working nights, weekends and holidays. The thing I always had in my head was "wide shot, medium shot, tight shot, action-reaction shots, cut-aways." And whenever possible I would try to have my subject walk in and out of frame for cutting to and from interviews if I wanted to save my cut-aways.
Epic plant shot! shooting in slo-mo is like turning cheat mode on. Another pro-tip always hold the shot longer than you think! It happens to me too often that I am already thinking about my next shot and I give up on the one I'm on too soon
Thank you for the video! I subscribed today to help you reach soon those 100,000 subscribers! Keep it up, you are great! Big hug from a Spanish dancer in India!
Super helpful. I always draw a blank when it's time to shoot broll on run and gun shoots. This will definitely come in handy. Might just print it out on a card and stick it on the camera lol.
Do you all ever watch something and put on a smirky face cuz of the great amount of tips you are getting, in this video I felt that and its rare. Thanks man, I learnt a lot!!
This is ridiculously useful, I love things that can be broken down into repeatable systems for client work. The efficiency of it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside
This was fantastic, thank you for sharing your tips. You and your team are among the more likeable, genuine youtube personalities that I enjoy watching.
that is suuuuuuper helpfull and it changes the b roll game totally...(of often times not having enough and beeing a bit uncreative ... - this helps big time!
Argentinaaaaaaa 🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷 Edit: sorry about this comment. I really enjoyed the video and it clarifies what I unconsciously do when shooting video. Loved it!
Every single video youve made has proven so useful to my work. It's like youtube film school level 2, when you're done watching all the other basic videos. I watched this video 3 times alone. Thank you.
In my opinion, you videos are extremely simple and easy to understand. I think these are the basic that we need to master first, before thinking of creating cinematic videos. Thank you so much for this video on b roll. 🙏
@@EpicLightMedia Haven't seen that style of narration implemented this well to UA-cam before. I'll strike you a deal, if you promise to make video essays about more than just filming tutorials, I'll subscribe. Not that you'd care lol. But the deal still stands.
Yes! Your tutorials are fun to watch, practical, straight to the point, highly appreciated! So much better than showing how to build a UA-cam studio and how to shoot UA-cam videos. Most of us are not UA-camrs, but we want to learn to make films! Thank you!
You guys should put learning how to fly an FPV drone somewhere on your list some day! Its an amazing experience and a completely new type of shot that is rarely ever used. Its also incredibly fun!
I’m trying to leave a bad comment but just can’t! I just can’t say something bad about something that cracks me as well as teaches me some Great stuff! As hard as you all try, you just don’t suck! Love watching you guys try though! Awesome!
Good tips, Im glad to see i have a very similar formula. My main client is a loan origination company so very mondain things and the challenge is always to make them interesting.
Any shots we missed? What shots would you add to the list?
Office Clip: Maybe it would have been interesting to record how a coffee is prepared in the office kitchen and then enjoyed in his chair!
Yeah that insurance office drone shot ,,, I miss it
I try to incorporate timelapses whenever I can too
Where is HOT ROD when you need them?
A bonus shot I'd definitely add is the slow mo looking up at the camera, always gives me shivers
Thx man
Here is the 10 steps:
1 medium shot
2 close up of the face
3 close up of the hands
4 over the shoulder
5 unique angle
6 details shot
7 walk and look
8 establishing shot
9 video portrait
10 drone shot
I searched for this
10 drone shots seem excessive 😂
Top man, Thanks for listing the shots out!
That second interview was hilarious!
Made me feel like I was watching the office 🤣
He literally had nothing to talk about for real.😂😂😂
Ten Shot List:
1. Medium Shot
2. Close Up (Face)
3. Close Up (Hands)
4. Over The Shoulder (talent's POV)
5. Unique Angle
6. Details (Inserts) (get a lot of these)

the epic light wooden logo on the shelf in the insurance office interview
shot.... smooth!
Four! Out of hundreds to see that...
Came for the info on B-roll shots...stayed and subbed for the sarcastic undertone on every.stinking.video. Love it.
How.... how... how is this content free??!?!?!?!?!??! Absolute Gold!
That gimbal balance... legendary
@PRIVATE hahaha
Nobody wants to balance that thing.. ii has motors so no need .lol i even dont balance when i changed focal lengths

After watching 90% of UA-cam’s filming videos this was by far the most applicable. Thank you so much. Love the channel and your humor.
Did anyone else notice the Epic Light Media Logo behind the insurance guy? Great, informational video as always!

Man, now I want to work in an insurance office. I've wasted my life.
My studio used to be an insurance office! After some renovation it's a little more interesting of a place now.
This is unironically one of the best informational videos relating to videography/cinematography while also not being corny and being funny lmao
You are a very effective presenter and I have learned a lot from watching your videos. Bonus that they are also entertaining as can be.
I can see why you don’t want any more subscribers, these videos are TOO good! Thanks for this!
The second interview must be your specific humor and I love that!
It’s all story telling baby. Great stuff guys.
You've changed my understanding of
b roll!!

The establishing shot is so smart!
For the love of God, stop this! I am learning entirely too much from this channel. Stop the madness 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Totally agree 😁
Just make sure you DO NOT subscribe! And definitely don't hit the like button.
The line from "A Bug's Life:" - I CAN'T HELP IT, IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL!!... BZZZZZT.
Wow..! These are the tips that I've been looking for! THank You!
Nice!
I think every public administration wants that last guy. With video you made, he will allways get a job like that.
My man reminds me of Steve Irwin the way he gets excited and all up in the action
Maybe your channel is the one where I learned the most about filming at one place, at one time 👍👏🙏❤️
Thank you for sharing this in detail 🙏 much love from videographer community ❤️

The B/W footage of the broken drone in addition with the piano touched me.

Maybe do a video talking about what frame rates you shoot in and when to change them based on the shot your filming at the time.
