    I remember being stationed in France in 1964. There i seen a 6 bottom switch plow. Took a while for this city raised man to figure out how it worked. Been interested ever since. Now, hooked on HFF, and others, I may one day be able to say...I is a farmer.....sorta. At 76, not so sure, maybe honorary, like coll. deg..

    The shirt you are wearing reminds me of Early 90's 4-H club shirts, I think that's why I like that shirt, hoping you get more in stock of that shirt next year.
    Great video, Ron!

    Living out west my whole life I can't even imagine hunting deer with a shotgun. Where I grew up in Oregon one rich family hunted with shotgun slugs and the slugs they used had riflings on the slugs. I heard a lot from them how much of a circle the slugs made in the air. I have shot slugs in my 12ga and they were fairly accurate. Nothing like a .270 OR .06 but OK in brush.

    Ya'll must have alot tougher ground in Iowa than what we do here in Central Louisiana. There are a couple farms here who run 8 shank case ih 2500 rippers with lister plows for building beds mounted to them. One guy uses a jd 8235r on his and the other either his 235 or 290 magnum and they seem to pull them without struggling much if any. But we don't have any hills over here though, everything is flat.

    In central Alberta we let the frost do the ripping. Not much topsoil here.

    great video, what is the purpose of leaving the gaps when ripping?

    You are right.
    That tractor has really bad lighting.
    You would need some light ramps.

    Magnum 340. Peak power at 1800 rpms. Torque rise of 44% for peak torque at 1400 rpms. Let her eat.

    Personally I think using those rippers are a waste of time up here we mole board plow all our ground corn and bean ground that all we have ever done and we have no issues. We run two 580 quad tracks with two caseih 12 bottom automatic reset plows.

    • @HartungFamilyFarms
      @HartungFamilyFarms  3 роки тому

      @14:31 Tillage is not done where the water drains off of the field. Flowing water would wash away any loose dirt.

    What's the deal with you always bringing the Ipad to Pat in the combine every day you are at the farm, why doesn't he have it to start with, and most important why does he even need it ?

    • @HartungFamilyFarms
      @HartungFamilyFarms  3 роки тому

      I'll try and explain why he needs it at some point but it is a data visualization software. And he doesn't have it all the time because we use that same iPad for feeding cattle as well
