    This video is NOT medical advice nor should what I am saying be taken as fact. Please remember I am a patient and am simply sharing my experiences and learning the more I go to this therapy. Thanks guys!

    Glad to hear you're having a good experience with PFT so far! I went last year for vaginismus and I'm super happy with the progress I have made this year. It's not as scary anymore and I feel much more confident about my upcoming annual exam. Thank you for sharing your experience with us and hopefully things continue to go well with your PFT! :)
    Edit/Update: My annual pap smear was a success!

    In high school I had to learn to belly breathe as a flute player. My teacher made me stand in front of a mirror with my hand on my stomach to watch my stomach expand rather than my shoulders move up. Within a couple days I noticed a huge improvement in my air intake and to this day I naturally belly breathe. Just focus on watching your stomach get bigger and hopefully your body adjusts quickly!

    • @LetsTalkIBD
      @LetsTalkIBD  3 роки тому +2

      That is a fantastic tip! I'm trying to be more aware of my breathing so I just do it naturally - it definitely feels better breathing that way!

    This was my experience with my Pelvic Floor PT as well. So knowledgeable, kind, gentle and just so willing to spend time with me and listen. I’ve never had such a great experience with a medical professional as I have with my Pelvic Floor PT. Looking forward to hearing how it goes for you. :)

    Looking forward to this-I was in pelvic floor PT for six months last year for hypertonic pelvic floor dysfunction (I struggled on and off for years and never found out what it was til it became acute last year). I learned so much! I still struggle with it at times but I have the tools now to tackle it on my own.

    Very interesting video Maggie as well as so informative .. My abdominal muscles still feel stiff and when I cough or sneeze it actually still hurts a bit.. My midline scar is very similar to yours and yes.. that numb feeling surrounding it is kind of weird!! Good luck to you with your pelvic floor therapy! 👍

    Pelvic floor PT has given me 10 years without intestinal surgery! Since I began, I have gotten off of TPN, gained 30#, and have decreased my need for pain meds. My PT does physical manipulation of my abdomen, laser therapy, Physio Touch (mechanical cupping) to break adhesions around my scar, internal release, and ultrasound. I'd previously had numerous small bowel resections, lysis of adhesions, and stricturoplasties for Crohn's. I hope that PFPT helps you too, Maggie!

    I never even knew this was a thing. I'm 33 (waited until marriage for sex). I explained all the pain I was having when attempting to have sex but the ob/gyn just seemed to think I was a wimp I guess. Until January when I went to get a pap smear and the pain was unbearable and couldnt even be done. She FINALLY got me help and sent me to a Pelvic Floor Therapist... about a month in now to the appointments and they have CHANGED MY LIFE

    I'm so happy to hear you had such a positive experience! I thoroughly enjoyed bone tracing therapy each time I had it done. One at physical therapy 3 1/2 years ago, and another time with my rheumatologist. I have EDS, and it was so incredibly relaxing. I hope each appointment goes as well as the first! Take care, and be careful (and warm) with the new snow coming!

    I went through IVF many, many years ago and was told at the time I had a retroverted uterus. I guess at the time I didn’t know if it was due to my surgeries but now I’m sure of it. Having everything removed it makes sense that organs might change positions. I had never heard of pelvic floor therapy and maybe it just wasn’t a thing at the time.....early to mid 90s. A few years ago I had a complete hysterectomy and my surgeon said everything was a complete mess as I had so much scar tissue which I know had affected my ovaries, Fallopian tubes and uterus.

It would be interesting to see how they advise on massaging it. Also I have a hard time pulling in my stomach muscles. Maybe you can share what is advised for that. Thanks Maggie.

    Just curious if you’ve had a salpingogram? When I was having trouble conceiving one of the first things my doctor wanted to check was my Fallopian tubes to see if they had been affected by any scar tissue. Unfortunately at the time I had major scarring on my tubes. It made it impossible for the eggs to enter the Fallopian tubes. Also I suffered with ovarian cysts. I’m sure your specialist will look into all of these possibilities to make sure you’re in great shape for a pregnancy.

    ( Maybe totally and absolutely “barking up the wrong tree “ here but anyway......) Apart from this Therapy You are undergoing, just wondering if maybe a Plastic Surgeon could help or offer advice about that very tight scar You have. That’s unless You’ve already been “down that route “........
    I’ve never had a scar as big and complex as You have. And have never had any of the complications You’ve had to deal with but I have had scar tissue that eventually I had to do stretch exercises for. It was painful but eventually, with time my skin stretched out, became more flexible ( for want of a better word) and supple . It was years ago and was fixed years ago. And now today, apart from the appearance, I’m back to normal. I have full movement and use. ( The scar happened as a result of me trying to arrange some flowers to put in a vase. I was trying to diagonally cut a stem of a flower but ended up cutting the whole of my skin off a knuckle. And my knuckle bone was left exposed. I had to have stitches and antibiotics. )
    Hope the Therapy goes well for You in the future. And that it brings the relief and “peace of mind “ You’re desperately looking for..... ⚛️☮️ 🌻 🌏

    Quick note: saying that the pelvic floor therapy is to "take care of ladies parts" is kind of missleading. Both men and women have pelvic floor and may experience some health issues connected with its muscles weakness or disbalances.
