Hi there! I am Joseph.
I have been an immigrant / expat living in central Portugal along with my beautiful girlfriend Mariana for seven years now.
Together Mariana, my father Clinton and myself, would like to show you a bit of the daily goings on around our Portuguese farm / homestead / smallholding and all of the work we are doing whilst renovating, starting building projects, working with our livestock, DIY and trying to grow our little families own food!
See our journey to self-sufficiency / permaculture / organic farming living in Portugal, trying to produce as much of our own food planting vegetables, growing fruit trees as well as looking after all our animals, such as our chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks, quail, rabbits and sheep - Shortly pigs too!

what a nice little house Josph, but i wonder, why don"t Portugese houses have raingutters? this will effect the foundation and makes the walls wet inside
Some places don't, our house does. They can be purchased and installed.

What'll be the cost to have plumbing and electricity? I'd install an ikea kitchen w their appliances and bathroom as well. Probably 5K for a small kitchen.

So I assume that both the house and the ruin are legally habitable. Do you still know the footprint of the ruin? I am making up a list of properties to see.

There is not one, it would need installing - I mentioned in the video the house was built with the intention of just being an adega style property, but that could be installed easily with a fossa and a borehole!

Why don't you give potential buyers details of the legal status , is that little cottage a registered casa as I doubt it is , and if not then building a house on a 5000m2 plot is a no go

It was raining, splashing off the floor and hitting the building, as said above no guttering won't help that issue...

I don't understand why the entire outside walls including front and garage doors are all holding water or moisture. I would think that mold would be an issue and affecting health. Not to mention doors warping? How's the interior with all that moisture, pretty damp and musty?
It’s a freshly rendered wall with no paint on a rainy day, it will soak in, but will dry out again in an instant

@@FarmerforfunBad discoloration from ground level up (as with the cottage) is usually a good indication there is flooding, or has been in the past. Food risk area charts are available and especially valuable when buying in unknown lowland territory!! Those walls should not be stained like that? 😉

It’s a bare rendered wall in the rain, the splashing from the rain on the ground made the wall damp, nothing to do with flooding, the house is higher than the rest of the land around, about three quarters of portugal would need to be under water for this to be flooded

@@100Noddy . Just a piece of land is possible for 10 K. But then mostly for that price you get bushland, i mean only with trees on it.
This looks like good land, good soil. Plus of course there is a small house on it. It's a reasonable price i think.
@@petervermeer.4904 I agree it is a realistic price for what is available. I see comment by Tony Lee has been deleted, he considered it worth only 10K and there are loads around for that. If there is then I will buy them all 😃
@@braveheart8318 Fair enough comment. One needs to view a good few properties, both those available via agents and those that locals will know are or could be available. However I have not seen any around 10K comparable with what this one has to offer.
Beside that Joseph is not setting the price or taking a commission, simply posting for viewers interest and in support of his friends, his neighbours and community.
SO its a farm building not a house? So that means you cant live there permanently untill you have planning permission to remodel the farm building To a habitable building from the council and mayor etc ???
