Fun Fact: GTA Advanced released the same day as GTA San Andreas Unfun Fact: Somewhere out there in the world there was a kid who asked for "the new GTA" for Christmas and got Advanced instead of San Andreas.
Well I bought both and I enjoyed both! The city in advance is actually one of the grimiest and lively city's in all gta games. Literally reminds me of that late 90s and early 2000s city time period.
And a lot of people don't know how to play it neither. You actually have to strafe to gun somebody down by holding the L button and move with the pad. So when you have a gang in front of you the gameplay gets very actionized. No playtroughs I've seen on UA-cam does that. Because a lot of people simply don't know.
Hey idk all the hottest games. But consistently, gta advance is one of the most expensive games on the shelf .especially for gba games. I've seen them for as high as 98$ cad. In store
0:59 It’s surreal to hear about “the original voice of Mario: Charles Martinet.” It makes me sad but happy at the same time because he still lives and gets to know how beloved he is by fans around the world.
@@Ottophil I love that movie, but Chris Pratt did his absolute best to make it harder for me to love it. Charles Martinet deserves all our respect, and I can't stand how he got replaced by a celebrity with an extremely boring and non-Mario performance for the movie. Charles is such a genuinely nice guy who cares about the fans too- I met him at a convention- lovely guy!
In Australia, the equivalent of the M rating is MA15+ (and R18+ for those heavier games introduced for games in 2012) and the only MA15+ GBA game is Tekken Advance
I just watched the most recent Switch Up video where they were showing off upcoming switch games. One of them was Postal Braindamaged and they remarked at how so much stuff in that game would've made it get banned back in the day, and now it's releasing on a Nintendo console.
Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance! Played the hell out pf the GBA version before I got the chance to get the PS2 version. I had nearly all the fatalities memorized. It was so fun to play on car trips, and I used to play this on the bus on the way to high school
*Slashers - The power battle* (one of its successor games) was at its time one of the very few decent fightig games on android. I played it for a while before I learnt there was a "first game" of that series called "Dual Blades". It may not be the most polished 2D fighting game franchise, but it certainly is a lot of fun to play still!
Dang I actually had a Serious Sam cartridge that I got from a garage sale. I've never played the actual PC version but the GBA port was kinda crusty, but it's a fun little oddity.
Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition brought back the missing fighters from GBA Deadly Alliance, sure… by *replacing* the roster from GBA’s DA with the missing half. The roster from GBA Deadly Alliance was simply tossed out, with only three exceptions: The titular alliance (Shang Tsung and Quan-Chi) plus series icon Scorpion are the only characters in both DA and TE. As a result, the character roster of both versions is pretty much equal; pick the one with your favorites.
the devs of that port went on to make all of rockstars handheld games and ports for PSP, DS, Android, and iOS until grove street games took over the phone ports of GTA (and the terrible remaster). they were then brought onto the development of the main console games starting with Max Payne 3 on.
Payback is such a really cool title, in fact the developers made a remake of it on smart phones called Payback 2. Theres still people who play the multiplayer online i do believe but either way its such a fun game
the devs of Max Payne on GBA became Rockstar Leeds and they ended up responsible for the fact that just about every Rockstar game on PSP (and DS) was very high quality. Their PSP ports of the Midnight Club games were fantastic despite long loading times, and obviously the GTA Stories games became iconic in their own way.
Honestly, as Wolf3D ports go, it’s not bad. No way to update it to play Spear of Destiny, though. (That’s also the problem with Doom & Doom 2 on GBA - no WAD support).
did you know there was meant to be resident evil 2 port for gba but look like it got cancelled ? it would be interesting if re2 was completed for the gba
Omg hey! You frequent the game store I used to work at, didn’t know you were on UA-cam just thought you were a pretty cool guy with good game taste. Lol but keep up the good work and I will definitely subscribe!
I have every m rated gba game except the mortal kombat games which I’m trying to get soon. I’m also trying to complete my collection of m rated ds games I have a good chunk of those as well. Awesome video!!! Idk why I just love collecting m rated Nintendo games especially the earlier stuff.
Hey, just wanted to say I enjoy watching your videos and I wanted to ask what frames are the glasses you are wearing? I’ve seen you wear different frames over the years and they all look really cool so I was just curious if I could find a frame for myself.
I know I’m strange, but I actually prefer the dimetric top-down Max Payne for GBA over the first-person shooter. Then again, I’m not a fan of first-person gaming, which may be an explanation there.
While I agree with you that nazi-slaying is one of the all time great features of classic games. Video games, like all media, are a form of escapism and as such I can understand the notion of there being evils too great for even fictional villains to have.
Never made sense to me either, maybe some people could see it as trivializing it but I really don't think that's a good argument. These games weren't pointlessly using the imagery to be edgy. It's like how movies like Indiana Jones will use it even if it's not a war movie, it still gets across that they were evil just like Wolfenstein
Its kinda funny that GTA got an M rating in America while it got a USK 12 rating in Germany which is usually known for outright banning games that are too hard (luckily they are not that strict anymore).
Usually I don't look for Mature Rating in games for Nintendo, but Max Payne said: "In the land of the blind, the 1 eyed man is king!" So I do keep an eye out for them & glade I did because Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance on the GBA is very good! If you listen closely you can hear Max Payne say, "He was trying to buy more sand for his hour glass!" With that said don't wait too long to get a copy of your Max Payne on the GBA! Uh-Oh Max Payne is here: "I don't know about angels, but fear is what gives a man wings!" That's my que to run away in a brave way! Ha-Ha!
It's a bit sad that the GBA ports of Shin Megami Tensei 1, 2, and if... never got localized. Those probably would've gotten the M rating if they'd been brought over.
I remember seeing my first gameboy advance M game at GameStop and it was serious Sam. I wanted it just because it was rated M had no idea what it was about but the cover looked badass lol. I was with my older sister and her childhood friend was working there. I told her I wanted it I had to be like 7 or 8 her friend told my sister not to get it for me because I’m too young 🤣
I think GTA Advance was actually rated T Edit: I just looked and sure enough it's M. I had it and could've sworn it was rated T. Even though it carries an M it's still really watered down compared to other GTA games. That's why I had it burned into my mind that it was the only T rated game in the series. I think Rockstar was probably shooting for a T since GBA was more closely associated with children than other consoles, but they got an M anyway lol.
never heard of dual blades but kinda getting a guilty gear meets mortal kombat kinda vibe?! hopefully the sequels turned out better I'm actually kinda curious!
MKV:TE and Max Payne are the best on this list, but Wolfenstein and Serious Sam is worthy a try. GTA is too slow, as Nintendrew told, stay with GTA Chinatown Wars which is much better.
I never picked up any Game Boy Advance that had Rated M for Mature. But I'm not interested on any M-Rated title on the system. Just the Rated E for Everyone, Rated K-A for Kids to Adults, and sometimes Rated T for Teen games. Games with this rating contain content that the ESRB believes is suitable for ages 17 and over, including intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content, strong language, drug use, and nudity.
None because the ratings didn't exist until 1994 and Nintendo was very strict back in those days, I doubt anything official on the original NES would have received anything higher than an E10. I don't know as much about the Master System but it's probably a similar story. The Atari 2600 did have some weird adult games on it that would be rated AO now though and Atari didn't like that they exited. Excluding those everything else would probably be E due to how limited the graphics were. Maybe Texas Chainsaw on it would be given T due to the dark subject matter though even if you can't really tell what's going on in it.
Sirius Sam and Wolfenstein are the only First Person Shooters, the other shooting games are third person shooters and the rest are fighting games excluding GTA though that's technically third person as well.
I assume that the American rating boards aren’t worried about the Nazis in wolfendtine because you’re killing them, not glorifying. Like how you can kill zombies and not people in other games.

Fun Fact: GTA Advanced released the same day as GTA San Andreas
Unfun Fact: Somewhere out there in the world there was a kid who asked for "the new GTA" for Christmas and got Advanced instead of San Andreas.

He's voice Mario over 100 times since the beginning he deserves that recognition

One of the few aspects that perhaps justifies Conker’s Bad Fur Day’s exorbitant price for the last several years…

Yep, GBA does have lots of games besides these.

that's actually kind of impressive how they got the animation so smooth on the max payne port

Payback is such a really cool title, in fact the developers made a remake of it on smart phones called Payback 2. Theres still people who play the multiplayer online i do believe but either way its such a fun game
to add to this, Payback was originally on Amiga computer before it was on GBA
Just took a look at Payback 2. It’s filled with IAP purchases. Looks like one of those knock off GTA games. You sure it’s any good?
@@sloppynyuszi i didnt say it was perfect, it's still pretty fun to play the multiplayer which isn't P2W at all

Nice to hear Mantronix - King Of The Beats over the GTA segment. Classic b-boy cut from way back in 1988.
'I just think that's neat' - It doesn't get more sincere than that!
The Gameboy Advance version of Wolfenstein 3D looks excellent for me to play. 😀👍🎮

You should do a video on he Game Boy's M-rated games.. because it would be very short. (just one.)
If only Doom I & II were M-Rated on GBA.
Serious Sam Advance released around the same time as Next Encounter which is a fantastic FPS game. Serious Sam Advance though, it's missed potential.
Does the game room still exist, or is it forever green screen now?
