I know it it had some great games and I'm not gonna deny that, all I'm saying is the Wii U wasn't successful unlike the Wii so there weren't as many people to play with.
Was gonna say.. Wii U was a phenomenal console whereas Wii was really bad. The irony is that Nintendo's bad console was so successful that nobody bought Nintendo's next console which was actually good. There was like 14 years where Nintendo wasn't both good and popular. The Nintendo dark ages. It was a really rough time to be a gamer and it wasn't helped by the awkward graphics, lack of polish, and magnitude of shooters on the market on other platforms. 3D graphics game out over 20 years ago and only now are some gamers finally realizing that 2D games are good too. Might be too late, much of gaming has been hijacked by sport and shooter fans who think they're really nerdy for liking Marvel films >:D *Deep breath* but Nintendo is back and God smiles upon the Earth once more, sunlight breaking through the clouds after a decade storm. Now we can rebuild and take back what is ours - video games.
Managing a Blockbuster from 2008 - 2012, I encountered a lot of angry parents when they learned the Wii game they rented for their child wasn't for children. (Nobody likes to read the ESRB rating)
Okay guys 😂 I've got about 50 comments saying "Where are No More Heroes and MadWorld?!". Both titles are very popular and well-received. My intention was to showcase some titles people might not know about, rather than reiterating old news. But maybe for part 2 I could cover some of the most highly praised M-rated titles. 😉
Also, Madworld is worth talking about because it seems like nobody except Wii fanboys have ever heard of it. Over the years, whenever I mention that Platinum made a blood-soaked Wii game that looks like a Frank Miller comic come to life, people just stare at me in confusion. It really *never* got the attention it deserved.
I really enjoy these kinds of videos, like this one and Scott The Woz's "Call of Duty on Wii" video. Since there was so many games on the Wii its interesting to see all these somewhat hidden "gems" lol. Thanks for the video Drew!
that one guy You can! There are several ways to do it. But my personal method was to install USB loader GX. Using the app you can also download and run cheats/mods for your games that you can enable before you play. If you've got Manhunt 2, on the app you can access and download its cheat menu which includes an option to uncensor the game. It's definitely a good time!
I relate way to much to the statement "being a kid with a Wii system and no xbox 360 or ps3, it took some convincing to my friends that Wii could be with the bigger consoles in high school" right in the feels, but hey they never got to recharge an energy sword by jacking it so I got that going for me
I will always be a Wii fan. It supported the types of games that I enjoy the most, and gave me a way to spend time with family. That being said, I really enjoy the Trauma Center series, and I am just as interested in M rated games on these consoles as you are.
Silent Hill Shattered Memories was my favorite game for the longest time. I used to have a crippling fear of being followed/chased; this was so bad that in public, I'd take precautions to make sure I was never walking in front of someone. This game certainly broke me of that in the most brute force way possible, and for that, it became my favorite game for years. After I memorized the game, I could sit down and play it from start to finish in about 2.5 hours, so it became less of a game and more of an interactive movie for me. There's just so much I feel like this game did right and everyone I had lend it to was shocked a game that good was released on the Wii. Within my group, it's this big title everyone knows about, but it seems like most people either don't know about it, or have heard of it, seen it's a Wii game, went "ugh" and that was everything they ever knew about SHSM.

Any game where you can effectively stab 5 road signs into a thug's head, toss him head first into a barrel, then impale him repeatedly into a set of wall spikes or toss him onto an active train track is the SHEER DEFINITION of an M-rated game. Maybe he never played it, meh, I wouldn't fault him for it if that were the case. But if he sees this thread & was like: "OK, let's see what they're talking about..." Yeah. He'd love it. Just picture Greg Proops & the guy who did the voice acting for Marcus Fenix providing raunchy commentary for your every move.
I'm hoping you make a part 2. The executions in Godfather Blackhand Edition were pretty gruesome to watch. The fact that you did some of the motions to perform them made it that much more disturbing. Definitely worth a mention as it's one of the better ported to Wii games.
My favorite M Rated Wii game will always be MadWorld, but these were all pretty good too. Shattered Memories is great, and so was this video. Keep up the good work, Drew.

There are a couple good games on the Wii that are M-rated...I mean, MadWorld is black and white comic book style game, where only the blood is in color...and there is a LOT of it...cutting people with chainsaws, throwing people against spikes...it's very intense for a Wii game. Also, ManHunt 2 is on the Wii...the fact that you use the motion controls to BRUTALLY beat people just makes that game even more intense. You stab people in the neck with pens, needles, etc...you even strangle them with wire and you act it out with the motion controls
@that one guy it's a rock star game so it's sure as hell worth it but goddamn it is really disturbing. it's really a hardcore interactive snuff film. it also really makes you question whether you enjoy it because if you do, you are a real sick fuck. pc version is best bc it is uncensored and unrated.
You can get the uncensored version on the Wii with a mod...and yes, it's a VERY sick game. Strangling with wire, beating people with the toilet lid, stabbing people in the neck with various items (pen, needle, glass shard). There is also torture scenes in the game. You get peed on by people and poop flung at you in the beginning when you're trying to escape the facility....of course, the PC version has an "AO" rating.....
Nice work. I knew about some of the M rated Wii Games. If you ever do make a part 2. Might I suggest House of The Dead Overkill? Its personally one of the best examples of an M rated title on a Family Friendly system.

Dead Rising Chop Til You Drop, Manhunt 2, Escape from Bug Island, Obscure the Aftermath, Ju-on the Grudge, Mortal Kombat Armageddon, Godfather: Blackhand Edition, Driver, Tenchu Shadow Assasssins, Cursed Mountain, Splinter Cell Double Agent, the CSI games, Sniper Elite...there's much much more. The Wii wasn't just some kiddie console like everybody likes to think. It really did have games for everybody. Maybe it had too much... It had a lot of Mature rated titles, probably at least 50 and I didn't even list half of them. Tenchu is one of my favorites.
@5:03, while the console did not support HD video, if you bought component cables for the Wii (the red, green, and blue cables), it would support a resolution of 480p.
Godfather: Blackhand Edition. I had so much fun with that game, it was the closest the wii got to gta. The motion controls were actually fun to punch people and to CHOKE THEM FROM BEHIND WITH A GARROTE WIRE.
Goldeneye 007 for the Wii still has an active online community and has been going strong November 2010. Thought you'd find this interesting since you were surprised that MW3 still has a playerbase.
Shattered memories is pretty good. I'm a bit of a silent hill lore person, and while this game is technically a reboot/retelling of the first game, it's so different in so many ways that even if someone is a fan of the original, they'd definately get a lot from shattered memories. If anything, it actually kind of works even better if you know the plot of the original and pair it with this one in a "what could have been" kind of way.
Ahh yes, the Wii remote speaker... That feature I found out about when I was supposed to mute the TV while playing so my baby sister wouldn't wake up and I was trying to find out where that goddamn noise was coming from.
Dead Rising! I remember my dad letting me watch him play and laughing at the over-the-top antics (killing zombies with a Lego head was my favorite). So glad to see it mentioned, I'd love to see a Part 2 to this!

Trauma gamed are waay ubderrated. It was amazing to play those games with Wii controls. It was like a surgery simulator

I'm a bit of a silent hill lore person, and while this game is technically a reboot/retelling of the first game, it's so different in so many ways that even if someone is a fan of the original, they'd definately get a lot from shattered memories. If anything, it actually kind of works even better if you know the plot of the original and pair it with this one in a "what could have been" kind of way.
When I think M games for Wii, I think Manhunt 2. Its a pretty good horror/suspense game for Wii. Definitely a hidden gem in my opinion.

Dead Rising! I remember my dad letting me watch him play and laughing at the over-the-top antics (killing zombies with a Lego head was my favorite). So glad to see it mentioned, I'd love to see a Part 2 to this!
