      Don't go by cc, it's an 11 hp difference. Honda 500cc has something like 28hp while Can Am 500cc has 46hp. That's why I say don't go by the displacement.

    • @Sum4Seb
      @Sum4Seb 10 років тому +1

      True but we didn't feel like getting technical with our simple comment :) HP does play an important role but torque is what wins drag races :) Of course power to weight ratio and all the different variables makes for a long conversation :)

    • @PlayafromtheHimalayas
      @PlayafromtheHimalayas 10 років тому

      Sum4Seb Wasn't trying to be technical, just saying Can Am cc's is more HP than a lot of other manufacturer's cc.

      +phatcawk Very true... Not only that, the Can Am Rotax V-Twin engine should last SOOOOOOOOO much longer than a lot of the others brands. It takes a LOT of stress off the moving parts of the motor when you have two pistons instead of just 1

    Kind of reminds me of my Gator 6x4. Top speed is 20mph...but it'll do that 20mph through and over everything. It'll do 20mph with 1000lb in the bed and 1500 on a trailer.

They hardly ever update a machine and owners never know if the have a dct auto blah blah or auto eps blah. Frustrating as hell for me. Their old machines were reliable, new hondas...I'd rather walk.

      +Tony Kernighan These are made by Can Am, Which is a member of the "BRP" "Bombardier Racing Products" Bombardier makes everything from rail cars, to ATV's, to snow mobiles. They are a Canadian born company, but own lots of manufacturing facilites in the United States as well. While your purchase will send money to a Canadian outfit, it will also secure american jobs as well. That is one of the reasons I have decided on a Can Am.

    I have a question for you Osta, Im buying a Can AM in March. Going back and forth from building an XT Outty 1000 and an XMR. I like the idea of a the XMR for 28% lower LOW gear, stronger rear diff, and podium shocks, BUT I don't think I like that "mud step". I have always had a 6" on my bikes and this won't be any different. But the 800r XMR is on the regular frame, but it doesn't have the 28% lower LOW gear. The podium shocks and stronger rear diff I can upgrade on the XT later on anyway. The rad relocate and snorkel I will do anyway, so Im not wanting the XMR for that. Im stuck going back and forth.

    • @blackiechane
      @blackiechane 10 років тому +1

    • @ThePewLife
      @ThePewLife 10 років тому

      Thats what I am afraid of to. I do like that new 1000 Renegade XXC, but the place I got a quote for a 2015 1k XMR, the renegade was only 200 cheaper. So it'd be dumb not to just spend the extra $200 for to get the lower gearing, rad relocate, snorkel, and 30" backs with wheels. But if I chose a regular XT Outlander 1k its be around 1500-2000 cheaper. Ill never make up my mind

    • @blackiechane
      @blackiechane 10 років тому

      but on the outty 1k its fact you are going to blow a diff or axle at some point. while the xmr 800 has the upgraded diffs and axles it will be under warranty

    top speed on my 2008 can am outlander max 800cc xt 2-up is 73mph. I had an identical 2008 can am 500cc 2-up top speed 64 mph. 500cc is plenty for trail riding but sometimes felt at constant 50-55 mph running was much louder revving at that speed hitting the near annoying factor vs. my 800cc machine. NO need for the 1000cc machine not needed unless very very serious mudding. I actually preferred slow speed handling tighter trail riding the 500cc with the tighter and easier turning smaller 25 vs. 26 inch wheels and macpherson front struts handled better than the 800cc a-arms in front with 26 inch bigger tires. 500cc never lacked the power just not as much faster grunt off the line which at times got me into trouble riding 2-up. I am 290lbs. wife 180lbs. and even the 500cc was adequate mostly trail riding, just revved higher rpms at 45-55 mph is all.

    I have been doing research to buy a new ATV this summer. I have some money put away and got approved for the financing. I have been thinking about buying the Outlander mXR 850. I really kinda wanted to Outland 1000 for a little more power, as I am a pretty big buy. I am 6'3 and weigh around 270lbs. But I see that I can save quite a bit of money buying the 850 instead of the 1000. If I buy the 850, is it that much different than the 1000? People are telling me to go with another brand, that the Can Ams are super expensive, and they are the most expensive that I have looked at, but they seem to have a real nice machine. Can someone give e some advice? Is the 850 a lot less pwerful than the 1000?

      Simple cc means cubic centimeters and is how you measure the engine size. About the same as on cars, 1 liter car engine is about the same size as a 1000cc engine. So its not directly linked to Horsepower. But generaly the bigger the engine the more horsepower.
