Jamieson "Junior" Brown (born June 12, 1952, Kirksville, Indiana) is an American country guitarist and singer from Cottonwood, Arizona.
In 1985 Junior invented a double-necked guitar, with some assistance from Michael Stevens. Junior called the instrument his "guit-steel". When performing, Junior plays the guitar by standing behind it, while it rests on a small podium/music stand. The top neck on the guit-steel is a traditional 6-string guitar, while the lower neck is a full-size lapsteel guitar for slide playing. Brown has two guit-steels for recording and live work.
The original instrument, dubbed "Old Yeller", has as its standard 6-string guitar portion the neck and pickups from Brown's previous stage guitar, a Fender Bullet. The second guit-steel, named "Big Red", has a neck laser-copied from the Bullet neck, but in addition to electric guitar pickups, both the standard and lapsteel necks use an identical Sho-Bud lapsteel pickup. There is a pocket in the upper bout of the guitar to hold the slide bar when it is not in use. Brown quickly became a local success in Austin, Texas as the house band at the Continental Club. His debut album was 1993's 12 Shades of Brown; it was followed by Guit with It later that year (1993 in music). Both albums cemented his reputation as one of the more critically acclaimed country performers of the 1990s.

We were driving home from vacation after my dad got a ticket then this song played and he was pissed
HAHAHA nice
Wow
LOL!
Did you get to hear the song from front to back😆
@@cliffford2897 I had a 59' 0ldsmobile Super Eight-eight, had factory front and back speakers. I told every one that it was stereo. They didn't know what stereo was either.
Welp because of donut operator I'm going to be playing this if I ever get pulled over see what happens XD
Yeah... Same here
I'm gonna play this next time um on patrol, and have to pull someone over 10 min before shift ends
That's great more power to you
Me too
Same here lol
My dad played bass for this guy. This song is so nostalgic because I used to see him play it live.
Frickin awesome!! JB Is "keeping it real" (I hate that phrase, but appropriately used here).
Hell of a picker....on all levels.
I cry BULLSHIT.. NO pictures it never happened..nuff said
Those must have been fun times. I would love to see him perform live.
Great bass player! Is he still rockin'?
@@MarcoZucchi81 yes....lo0k him up..😉
Pro gamer tip
If a cop pulls you up, put this track on before you roll the window. Keep the volume low but loud enough it's noticeable.
Doing this will increase your chance of the cop just letting you go by 40%
I will try this
If I know state troopers... and I do know lots of them... that will probably work more than 40% of the time
.
or you can just put your wallet in a gun holster and pull out your wallet very fast and aim at the cop with it.

This guy has to be one of the most under-appreciated performers ever. "My Wife Thinks You're Dead" should be the national anthem.
Bet slick Willie sang that one more that once. LOL
Damn what a cool song
the dame in that clip is hot
My Wife Thinks You're Dead is dark rockabilly comedy brilliance!

That's the original 12 string!
Glad you appreciate it, my Dad wrote and recorded that song in 1969 with Conway Twitty’s band...
the original is much slower with more blues sounding steel guitar.
Here because of the movie Me, Myself & Irene with Jim Carry.
Really, this is one of my favorite songs, the instrumentation is phenomenal. Huge thumbs up. Absolutely first rate.
This guy is awesome! He made me a fan of country music again.
+Cassio Trocourt That's his wife BTW...Love this guy.

This guy is the BEST. Born with a guitar in his hands. His steal is real & unbeatable.
Can we all appreciate the lady playing guitar in a pristine white power suit? Looks like she could walk out of the studio and into a boardroom or straight to church. This is a really fun song thanks for posting
That's his wife ;-)
Her right arm is like a metronome
Thats his wife, Tanya I believe her name is,
Got to see them around 2014 at Fitzgerald outside of chicago,
She's definitely hot
Why is real country considered Alternative, Alternative to what shit ?
+Jeremy Capps it is alternative to the sh*t they play on mainstream 'country' radio.
+Jeremy Capps Because it's an alternative to the crapola like Blake Shelton;Trace Adkins;Tim McGraw and their ilk!!
+kingbushwickthe33rd believe it they have a few nice songs but nothing like this
If they played it on 120 minutes it was alternative, if they played it on country radio, it was country. I agree, it's the same exact thing.
You do have a point.However,99&44/100%OF What passes for"Country"on today's"Country Radio"is either(1)Country Pop groups like Alabama or Rascal Flatts(2)Pretty Boy Hat Acts(3)Fake Bad Asses like Trace Adkins and Toby Keith-or-(4)Sensitive New Age Guys like Tim McGarw!!!
The 138 people who don't like this need to get the Aldean outta their ears.

It's worse now than ever, where the hell has country music gone!?!
He's got the voice and the twangy guitar DOWN. The tradition lives!
On behalf of all cops either current or retired, thanks Junior. You're the man.
I remember when this song came out back in the mid 1990s. It was a breath of fresh air in the days of artists like Garth Brooks 🤢🤮 The 1990s is when country music started it's decline. It ain't country unless there is a steel guitar in the band.
Couldn't agree more.
JB is the best Damn thing to come out of Texas since Steve Ray Vaughn, saving rock and roll truckabilly he is
Actually, junior is a Yankee.
Yup.. He's from Indiana where I live. And hr's one hell of a performer! I love his music!!

Junior’s a badass guitar picker. Truly
anytime you can go see this guy play, go, he puts on a great show
I saw him at a Casino for free. I would have paid for it......he is a badass.
"...a gun on my hip and the right to arrest"
That's so poetic. Thank you Gary.
this song is a real throwback to the sixties country, his voice reminds me of Dave Dudley, that truck drivin' son of a gun!
Dave was the man! And Junior Brown!
Which is why that particular duet works so well.
Johnny cash
Who’s here because of Me, Myself & Irene??
Me obviously. Me, myself and Irene is an amazing film
I was speeding on my motorcycle and listening to this when the CHP pulled me over in LA. Young officer never heard this before ... he let me go. Thanks JR.!!!

Come on not all cops are bad. That just doesn't stand to reason but the system is bad and good cops can't save it. Don't blame the solder for the generals or some politico's distortion (yah distortion that works). No one will take your argument seriously. Well like when I do it xDlol.
I am loving this guys music. His voice his guitar. Realy cool.

His 1994-2000 films are all great.
Happy birthday Junior Brown 67 today June 12th awesome guitar picker
Retirement age
@@matthewmiller3476 I'm not sure when an entertainer should retire I suppose it's up to them really.
I heard this at the car show today and it definitely caught my ear.
he is the best picker ever
This is the next stop on the Donut Train.
This is real Country music. Love the lead guitar style.
I think Junior's version of this song came out around 1993-94. It's a cover of an old Red Simpson hard core country tune from 1966 but Junior injects serious life into it and adds another 16 bars of a seriously sizzling solo!!!
I just remember hearing this my freshman year of college in 1995 for the first time and literally the next day starting to save money to buy an electric guitar and an amplifier.
Almost 30 years later lots of things have changed in our world, but I still play guitar and it all started with this amazing picker.
Donut brought me here anyone else?
Sure.
Ya
🚔🚔🚔🚓🚓🚓 beware guys .. he is a highway patrol lol
I've seen this cat live and he's nothing less than amazing. If he's in your area, you gotta see him live! He's simply the best guitarist alive!
I love listening to this song when I'm driving through N.M. and Texas along I-40. I start going way too fast because I can't stand to be behind all those huge trucks. This guy is really talented and Funny! Btw, I love Cops!
No Bro country, just Junior country. I'm sure Johnny Cash loved Junior Brown.
Both Junior and Johnny are certainly great

If Junior Brown and Iris Dement got married and had a baby they could call it Junior Mint.

Thats funny
Wrong. She would take his sir name....therefore we're left with Iris + Brown......so just call the kid "Brown Eye". And if they don't get married it gets even better......now you got a Brown Eye'd bastard.
Verse 1]
I got a star on my car and one on my chest
A gun on my hip and the right to arrest
I'm a guy who's the boss on this highway
So watch out what you're doin' when you're drivin' my way
If you break the law, you'll hear from me, I know
I'm workin' for the state, I'm the highway patrol
Well, you'll know me when you see me
'Cause my door's painted white
And my siren screamin' in my flashin' red lights
I work all day and I work all night
Just to keep the law and order tryin' to do what's right
If I write you out a ticket, then you'd better drive slow
I'm just a-doin' my job, I'm the highway patrol
[Chorus]
I'm the highway patrol, the highway patrol
My hours are long and my pay is low
But I'll do my best to keep you driving slow
I'm just a-doin' my job, I'm a highway patrol
[Verse 2]
If your drivin' too fast, like you shouldn't do
You can bet your boots, I'm comin' after you
If you wanna race then get on a race track
'Cause if you try to run away I'm gonna bring ya back
I'm here to keep all the speeders drivin' slow
I'm just a-doin' my job, I'm the highway patrol
[Chorus]
[Outro]
I'm just a-doin' my job, I'm the highway patrol
I used to do stupid things with my car, while listening to this song. Oh poor clutch and them gears...
Duwain Eddie, reincarnate. And something for your soul. God i love that 50's sound. It's so fresh and new and something true. Expectation of hope and then a wall. Division between government and its people. What they tell you to do and what you don't know. Beginning of control and then rebellion. Bright lights and science fiction. Design with purpose, purchase what you want with your free time. Cut your hair how you like, why the hell not, it is mine. Cars and clothes, music and fashion. Drive-in movies and the start of something.
This song came in as I was listening to random outlaw country on Amazon music. Thank you, Amazon! You introduced me to a new favorite! Love this song, and can't wait to hear more from Junior Brown!
First heard of Junior Brown listening to A Prairie Home Companion in May of '99. Highway Patrol was an instant hit with me and I went about buying Junior's CDs. Great music!
"The day I can't do my job drunk is the day I will turn in my badge and gun."
I am definitely more of a fan of the traditionalists like Junior Brown, Alan Jackson, Dwight Yokham, etc. However, I much prefer to go right to the source- stuff that actually came out in the 50's and 60's, lol.
Dude is awesome sure miss it on the radio

This dude stole my dad’s titled “Highway Patrol” song, he wrote it in 1969… I have original recordings from “Twitty City Studios” in Oklahoma City. Song progression sound identical, only minor lyrics have changed.
Every time I hear this, or anything close, I see my Old Man in his uniform, polished boots, Stetson hat, Sam Brown rig with S&W 357 Mag revolver, handcuffs, pens, badge, name bar, tie and clasp.....

I remember seeing Junior Brown on David Letterman, I believe it was, back in the early 90's doing this song. The next day I went out and ordered his cassette tape. Sucks because it took about two weeks to receive it! No Amazon and no internet downloading in those ancient days! I love metal, I make my neighbors listen to Maiden, Overkill and Slayer, they don't have a choice! But they also get a hefty dose of Hank Jr, David Allan Coe and Junior Brown, right along with 'em!
I actually like this guy he's good
Tanya Rae - the EPITOME of the importance of the rhythm guitar! Holdin it down &Keepin it there!
Yup she is fantastic and talented. Most of the the time the volume of her guitar is not loud enough and is drowned out by the other instruments. They are the perfect duo. A rare talent these days with all the rubbish on the mainstream radio stations. Thank god for youtube. youtuberepeater is great too for looping a song.
