Missing this man all of the time, no one could sing "White Lightning" quite like George Jones. The Fourth of July is not the same without his big hand on my shoulder telling me to take good care of his cousin. I am taking good care of for you George. God Bless You Country Music, Rockabiily, and George Jones.
George had a way of making you want to dance and also to make you feel sentimental especially with "She Thinks I Still Care" and "He Stopped Loving Her Today."
I m 42 years old and in summer of 1980. My uncle Daryl was taking my sister and me home from the swimming pool. she wanted him to turn on the radio and play some rock music. He turned on the radio and this song was playing. he told us now this is real music and turned it up. And I have been in love with country music ever since.
My grandpa turn up the radio and and say this is Western This ain't country I heard you tell somebody you like my country music This ain't country boy this is Western I don't listen to that sissy stuff. Has he done rolling cigarettes from his T-shirt

Hey I totally agree with you on that I'm 56 and I have cerebral palsy so I couldn't get out and play like the other kids so my mom and dad especially dad made sure that I music oh btw I hardly listen to any music past 1975

@@tubecrazy65 Same here. My Mom and Dad listened to Country and Western music. So did I until high school in the mid 70's. Then started to listen to Rock and Roll. Like them both. Still when the need rises I listen to Country and Western music. To many artists to name.
Probably why it sounded rockabilly is that the Tennessee Three---Luther Perkins--W S Holland--and Marshall Grant (Johnny Cash's Band) along with Gordon Terry on the lead guitar (who I primarily knew as a fiddle player) were the back up band---and T Tommy Cutrer was the emcee. I have been fortunate enough to know and work with most of them. Blessings to the memory of George Jones. Earl P Ball
The great Gordon Terry who was a world class fiddle player on lead guitar. Gordon Terry played in every band that needed a fiddle player. He was Merle Haggard's fiddle player for years. What a great talent, and a great human being.
Should be 50s rock and roll considering JP Richardson wrote this. If you don't know who JP Richardson is he went by the Big Bopper. Died in a plane crash with Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens.
actually he started out doing rock and roll he was called thumper jones and he did a lot of rock and roll trying to be like elvis but he hated that so he did what he loved
Not sure why that would be surprising. Most of those guys started off as jazz musicians. People back then like Chet Atkins, Les Paul, and Doc Watson would blow the doors off most modern players.
I love this ERA/DECADE of country music...just pure class!!! Everybody was in a suit & tie, hair perfect, no trashy tattoos, no trashy piercings, no wild colored hair...JUST PURE CLASS!!! Much love from Mobile.
Hey wait a minute I have trashy tattoos and piercings and I like this too. Must be because my hair's perfect and my suit is fresh. This ain't for no choir boys anyway it's for the greasers at the garage Nancy. Love from Virginia
Classic song about moonshine, classic! I love george jones haven't listened to him that long and i am gonna listen to more songs by him for a long time. Rest in peace George, rest in peace
I used to dance polka with my grandpa in the middle of the barn floor, while milking cows. Every Sunday morning we would both dance and listen to oldies while milking. I’m 25 and my taste of music is that of a 70 year old because of him. I wouldn’t change it for the word though. Once you know quality, it’s almost a pain to listen to anything else. ❤️
Yep Mike that was about the way it was that day on board the Saratoga. White lightning. Thank you, I needed that. It brought back a smile of rememberance.
I had never heard of this man up until a year ago when I watched Mike Judge's Tales From The Tour Bus. Well worth a watch if you haven't seen it cause I can't get enough of George after watching it. What a legend.
George was with my cousin Johnny and me I always visited in summer. In Vidor Texas in 1966 I was 16 and got whiskey drunk for the first time fell down stairs with some ol drunk chick. I'll never forget those good times.
Well I will say it here. Country Music is now officially dead!! This was it along with Waylon, Johnny, Loretta, Tammy, Patsy, Conway...etc... Thanks for the great music you gave all of us. RIP George.
l agree with you, indeed George Jones is a great and talented artist who's songs never goes out of style, he's one of my favorites artist, he's songs still and always heals the Soul…

Like White Lightning is pure grain alcohol, George Jones' voice is pure country music. There won't be another like him.
Nobody’s gonna fill his shoes!
God bless this comment
White lighting is corn liquor. Pure and unmixed. Nothing can equal it.
“Agreed!” ⚜️

Not a lot of people could take a Big Bopper song and make it their own like George did with this. A true generational talent.
Hello how are you doing?
My poo poo whole hurts
Jerry Lee Lewis took a pice of shit didi the Big Bopper could hardly make into a joke himself and made a great song of it, Chantilly Lace.
Not a lot of people knew more about white lightning than George Jones.
This song is 57 years old. Still sounds good
still better than baby

Its a shame that we don't have good music anymore. If we had more people like george jones in this world, we wouldn't have the shit they call music today.
Because our masters want to degrade the culture; let the youth grow with corporate-trash, manufactured music so they no longer know what good is.
I heard this while going over Monteagle Mountain yesterday and this old classic had me jamming!!
Now, That's REAL Country Music!!! Thank You George, RIP!!!
40 years of george and still never gets old

Earl PooleBall, are you the same gentleman who played piano in Johnny Cash's band?
George Riddle singing with George
Earl PooleBall I was there when one of them burned up in his home...
Plus it was written by The Big Bopper.
I love George's expression as they turn his ears. It's hard to believe George would've been 90 years old this year. I hope his rest has been peaceful.
Two great singers and talents George Jones and George Riddle, good friends and who passed away in 2013 and 2014.Such a great loss.
Georgie Riddle was my dad❤
The great Gordon Terry who was a world class fiddle player on lead guitar. Gordon Terry played in every band that needed a fiddle player. He was Merle Haggard's fiddle player for years. What a great talent, and a great human being.
i just can't help it i love country music cause my mother would sit by the radio and write down the words to alot of country songs from the 60's
