This was a great interview, and so interesting for me as a reader of IDC since the beginning, and a fan for whom Dance has always been my favourite discipline (since the days of Torvill & Dean). There was always a hardcore of American Dance Mavens on FSU in the early 2000s, and now you're all producing Skating media that I can't tell you how much I appreciate, as in Britain we have little coverage of the Sport, and the few press articles that are written are never well informed. Thank you! I remember reading your posts on Skating Forums, Tony!
One of the new Choreographic elements I'm enjoying this season also is the Choreo Steps down the width of the rink. They bring the Entertainment factor back to the Free Dance. Apart from Lilah & Lewis's, I also love Karina Manta & Joe Johnson's Vogueing choreo steps in unison that really works well to their music.

Thanks so much for your feedback. I remember you from the message boards also and from following us (IDC) on Twitter. I want to put a montage together (at the end of the season) that features all of the cool choreographic elements we've seen so far! I really hope they broaden it next year as it's added a lot to the programs.

Yes, Daphne! NBC could help casual fans understand better with short tutorials on what to look for. NBC is more interested in keeping the cache of Olympic sports away from ABC, CBS and Fox than actually working to improve the broadcasts.

Very informative video. Can you post a link for the ISU videos you discussed. I didn’t know they were available

I appreciate everything you guys said about not knowing the out come of ice dance anymore, and I think it's getting better for most teams. Was it filmed before the gp in France? Because if p/c are 16 points ahead of the field, it seems pretty obvious what the outcome is going to be to me, how are teams supposed to realistically believe they can compete with that? A team that almost maxes out the new scoring system in their first outing. I definitely agree p/c are currently the head of the field and amazing skaters, but they aren't THAT much better.

Konner Russell this was filmed before the FD of the French GP, yes, but Gabriella and Guillaume are not a factor in the Final and still this is going to shape up to be a highly competitive race for the medals. There are also teams that will (hopefully) be around for Worlds that didn’t participate in the GP plus Gilles/Poirier who aren’t in the Final. If P/C can hit all of their elements and get their levels, they deserve the high GOEs. And from my own view, one thing I discussed with PJ in our event review is how P/C never have to think about where the other one is- they sail through everything with an ease and confidence and really get into their programs- the PCS was extremely high, but it wasn’t a scandal.
Since most top teams will be in the 9s PCS-wise, it comes down to who can get past the technical panel and distance themselves on that first mark. And we’ve seen all season that top teams aren’t excluded from that scrutiny if things go a little bit wrong. That’s what is so exciting!
