- Simone Biles put her fifth place finish in Paris 2024 Olympic beam final down to a 'weird and awkward' atmosphere at Bercy Arena.

Biles fell off the beam during her routine and later explained that a lack of noise meant she could 'hear some of the Android ringtones going off, the photo clickers' before adding 'you're tying to stay in your zone, and then people start cheering and the shushing gets louder'. Biles stayed positive, however, adding that she was 'proud' of herself and saying 'I can't be mad at my performances. A couple of years ago I didn't think I'd be back here at an Olympic Games, so competing and then walking away with four medals, I'm not mad about it'

I'm Brazilian and I loved watching Rebeca and Simone compete. They are both incredible. I loved seeing how they two respect each other so much. ❤
People are picking apart every little thing she says. I think her response was appropriate. She acknowledged the other athletes and was proud of the things she did accomplish.

Yes there is . Instead of staying off social media and focusing on her gymnastics, she was making nonsense political comment, making jabs about ' done and dusted ' issues , buying herself goat necklaces , crawling on the mats whn she was able to run just fine . Her goat necklace gift to herself was apparently a jab at her haters ? How pathetic that that's her focus instead of being happy she won medals ! And she's just given many more reasons fir the hate she gets. She is not humble

I was thinking the same thing that it was so quiet in there and I’m used to having music along with their routines. (Including songs for their specific routines.) With so much quiet in the room it was nuts.

These are pretexts. A gymnast and any athlete should be focus independently of the background sound (or silence).
Watching her felt like there was so much pressure on her. People are ready to hate as soon as she makes a mistake. 4 medals at the olympics and people will still pick her apart. LOSERS
Watch previous olympics where the real champions didn't fall or waver the entire. Competition ! Wait that's what Rebecca did this time in Paris ! Simone has a huge difficulty buffer , she therefore has LESS pressure than the others ( who are fighting every tenth for a minor medal )

And she came back this year, when many said she wouldn’t even be able to get back into the Olympics and won 3 gold and one silver. But you must know so much , but like Simone said about people like you, you’re nobody’s who just criticized from your couches and homes doing nothing or understanding anything an Olympian has to go through.

She did say that at 00:59 actually. Plus context is everything - without knowing what question was asked it can be easy to make up a story that the person answering had a bad attitude. If asked what she thinks contributed to the beam outcome, frankly she can't be faulted for her honest answer.

I agree with her message, it's just the delivery that bothers me. She is amazing and has pushed herself physically for so many long years to get to where she is. As admirable as that is, now is the time to shift focus and get her mind into play so she can speak more maturely and sound more intellectual, and that "end of the day" cliche needs to be kicked out altogether. She needs to step up into a leader's role and stop sounding like a teen.

Biles, Lee, Brazil’s Julia Soares and Romania’s Sabrina Maneca-Voinea fell, but the winner D'Amato didn't even wobble.
Biles made mistakes on the floor final as well (perhaps due to her calf) and only received silver.
@@milaalaniva775 actually, d’amato made a few wobbles between the connections of dance moves and after a flip. Also, the Italians may be used the awkward environment, unlike the other contestants.

I used to think she was full of class and humility. As time goes on, you see who she really is.
I used to think America was full of decent, caring human beings until Simone had a mental break in 2020 and couldn’t perform. The buzzards swooped in to tear her apart. As time goes on, I saw who the people in this country really are.

I saw it early on , small things like when after 2016 , many from team retired , and she had just had the first competition with the 'new girls ' she posted that she missed the old girls ?
That must've been so hurtful to the new girls , who would've looked up to her .
Then came the goat in crystals on her leotard( at that stage she had only won 4 olympic medals , Shannon had 7 ! ) and I was in disbelief at the egotistical move .
So she had a mental breakdown, feel pity for her , not the praise and adulation she got like she she just won 4 more medals !

I've noticed that too. I think it may be related to her ADHD and the fact that she takes Ritalin. Sometimes, it can seem insincere and even aggressive, which is a shame because I believe she is a wonderful athlete!

@@maggiechan33You clearly didn’t watch the final. 5 out of the 8 Gymnasts fell on the beam. And then another girl almost fell. And in the same arena on the same day the men’s high bar also had most of the athletes fall. There was clearly something weird going on with either the equipment or the atmosphere.
The real goats like MJ probably dont even realize there is crowd noise lol. Different level mentally in my opinion
