    I make all kinds of Gnomes and have found that toilet paper rolls work really well under the hats. Cut them to any size you want or need and they do the trick very well. Just glue it down over the top notch and slip the hat right over it. If you want the pointed look, form the point with the excess sock above the paper roll. Done deal!

    Today is 9/26/20 and for the last 3 days I have watched and liked all of your Christmas DIY videos. One comment about the troll stealing your Wreath video (maple syrup and spaghetti!) idea really made me mad. The other comment about the gal who grew her business from watching you touched my heart. Last but not least the gal who complained about your 'MOM' sarcasm...She needs to buy a clue, you never talked bad about your mom, or any moms...only the broom riding Mother-In-Law!! lol Have you considered being a stand up comedian?💕
    On this gnome, you mentioned the crazy socks, I found a pair of the Christmas color stripes in my drawer this morning, perfect for him! TFS!

    Hey Amber! I have been going back through your older videos and I can't stop watching them! I love the gnomes!!😍 I was already working on getting supplies for the sock snowmen, so now I am going to make gnomes too. I am trying to make a little money to buy Christmas for the family. How much do you think I should charge for the gnomes and snowmen? I live in a small, but growing town outside of Indianapolis. I don't have a great avenue for selling things, but we have a town Facebook Page that everyone belongs to, so I have been posting there. Thank you for your help Amber! I have crafted for many years, but the past 10 years or so I have been ill and not crafted much. You have been such an inspiration to get me going again and I am so grateful to you! When I watch your videos, I feel like you are family (which you could be since my family settled in your area before moving on to middle Tennessee. ..lol!)....love you girl! 💕💖

    Thank you for sharing...very cute and good instructions too! One question: if you wish to save the gnome year after year, does rice get bugs in it after awhile like other things kept in a cupboard?

    • @ThisSouthernGirlCan
      @ThisSouthernGirlCan  6 років тому

      I’ve never had an issue with it. Put a few drops of peppermint essential oil in the rice, or add a bay leaf. And keep them sealed up in a ziplock.

    Sooo cute! The paper cone is genius! I was trying to think of a way to make a "Mrs," Gnome, for a family. Any genius ideas for a girlie one? Thanks for sharing. I happened across this and you do a great job! :)

    • @ThisSouthernGirlCan
      @ThisSouthernGirlCan  7 років тому +8

      Laurie P thank you so much! I would maybe leave off the beard, and braid several strand of yarn together and glue them on each side of the head, to make it look like she has long braids hangin down.

    • @lpen7
      @lpen7 7 років тому +1

      That's genius! Maybe some earrings, too, or ??. Please be sure to post a video if you undertake a "Mrs. Gnome" project, you'd do a terrific one, I'm sure! Thx again!

    • @lpen7

    I would have turned the frayed edges inwards as they will just keep fraying. Also I wouldn't use the twine as it makes it look messy.

    • @ThisSouthernGirlCan
      @ThisSouthernGirlCan  6 років тому

      Hmmm. I have snowmen made in the same fashion that have been around for at LEAST 15 years and they haven't frayed. They are decorations, not toys. And you do know the purpose of the twine is to give it very 'woodsy' and 'rustic' look, right? Make yours however you see fit, and I will continue to do the same.

    Could you tie the string before putting on the clothes? Then you wouldn't see the string at all.

    • @ThisSouthernGirlCan
      @ThisSouthernGirlCan  7 років тому +1

      Kathy Smith you could do that if you wanted. I wanted mine to show, to give it a bit of decoration and break up the monotony of the solid-colored socks. To make it look almost as if he is wearing a belt. But you could hide it if you wanted.

    • @UCanCallMeKatie
