This video brought many tears to my eyes. I am 27yo living in Brazil (a definitely non-Muslim country) and I revert to Islam on October 5th. I dont have any Muslim friends in here and it is so weird to feel like the 1 different person in the entire place. It has a been a lonely yet beautiful journey. At the end Allah never leave us really alone... I just wish I felt safe to wear the hijab but still it is such a struggle for me. I decided to wear it for some places just as a "start" like when I go to the gym. And maybe it will get easier with time. Thank you so much for this video. It made me reflect a lot. May Allah make it easier for all of us sisters struggling with it.

I reverted in my 50s and started wearing the hijab as an older person. I shared a lot of the concerns you mentioned, but they were never as much of a problem as my imagination made them out to be.
One thing no one mentions is how GOOD it can feel to wear it! I was happily surprised to discover that. You know you are doing the right thing. It’s just nice.

So according to your religion if I want to pray to God I have to pray to him through Jesus or another one of your saints ? Why not invoke God directly ? When Jesus (pbuh) was on earth how did he speak to God ? Why does it say in Matthew 26:39 : "Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” ? That means Jesus (pbuh) was praying to God in the way muslims pray, by invoking God directly and bowing his face to the ground- not in the way your own religion is telling christians to pray. And this is just one of fundamental inconsistencies in Christianity.@Repent-and-believe-in-Jesus1
Even though I hate seeing sisters wearing hijab that doesn't cover their necks but I have started slowly I'd advise you some below which might include it BUT know that I DO NOT support hijab like that and it's not the right way according to Islam. I'm gonna assume you don't wear modest clothing either (for the sake of more info) so how are you gonna start??
1. Intention: That it is an obligation of allah and you wanna please him as he loves you so much. You can create one of your own like I did.
2. Start learning about hijab (religious and historically) be aware of misinformation. There's a girl name farrah or something who has a video on that (just some sister talks ☺)
3. Start wearing modest clothing (too awkward? Than be trendy and just try to cover fully except hair)
4. Wearing loose clothes after getting comfortable
5. Start covering hair a little bit cover chest a little bit
6. Cover full neck, chest and hair while wearing loose clothes. You don't have to wear abaya
7. Now is the time to wear abaya or customise long loose garment with hijab fully covering neck and chest.
Pls don't take covering chest as extreme as I used to not cover it which is wrong. Make up isn't allowed either but I do it which I know it's wrong and in future I'll leave it in sha Allah. I have also planned to wear niqab after marriage as I wear it at home (when I'm meeting my neighbours or passing by a window) and it's easy for me because I live in a muslim majority country. Just know every journey is different but keep on learning. I hope you won't let your desire win over clear obligations (just be aware of waswasa). More important *BE PATIENT* if you clicked on this video it's a sign from Allah ❤️. I stated wearing it because of FRANCE AND INDIA 😂 jokes on these countries 😏 because I felt like a hypocrite who has the freedom to choose hijab YET muslimah's around the who wants to fulfil an obligation of allah can't and that feeling was awful for me. So yeah everytime I get waswasa I tell myself the core intention of starting it in the first place.

I started wearing it two years ago. What stopped me from wearing it sooner was insecurity of acne. It would bring more focus to it. I then realized that’s just shytaan trick to prevent me from wearing it. I feel more confident then ever before in hijab realizing Allah made me the way he wanted, I don’t need to fit society description of beauty and I’m wearing it for Allah not people.

I only started the hijab last year, I live in a Muslim country so i don't face as much criticism but wearing it at parties or wedding is seen as "weird" so i'm still working on that and i hope by the next wedding or party i attend i am confident with my hijab

Salam, I’m 25 years old now, I wore the hijab at the age of 18. It is the best decision that I’ve ever made. I always wanted to take that step but I was so hesitant until I made the decision to really think about it just with myself no one else. I did not tell anyone that I was considering it because I wanted it to be purely my own decision and no one else’s influence because at the end of the day it’s me putting it on. I didn’t want anyone to ‘convince’ me or push me into it. So I took my time, really thought about it and its whys and hows. And alhamdulillah years later I’m so thankful and grateful that Allah loved me and chose me to be a hijabi. Now of course shaytan will try to convince you otherwise, before you put it and during putting it and even after you put it. But it is an ongoing journey towards Allah so always have your faith greater than satan’s whisperings. May Allah guide us all🤍

I'm a 29 year old woman and ive been covering since I was 13 years old. You will definitely face challenging time and change as a person as you get older, but my advice would be to please stick with hijab. If I think about my coworkers who feel uncomfortable around me or the friends I didnt make because of my hijab, I say alhumdulia. Those people are not worth your time or energy if they will judge you simply for wearing what you want to wear. I love hijab because no one is entitled to see all of me and if that makes them mad, be mad then.

As a revert living in the West (islamophobic France), it ain’t easy. I put it on 1 month after I reverted (1 year ago) and am not planning to take it off regardless of what companies might tell me in the future. If I am not allowed to wear it, I am not allowed to be myself and always have to follow up to their standards. I love to swim but I am unable to swim as no swimming pool allows burkini. It is such a sad reality but giving up something for the sake of Allah makes everything a bit easier as Allah will never let you down. I would rather suffer in this dunya than having to face Allah and say I could not wear hijab because of my surroundings. Not only the West is a challenge, fellow Muslims are questioning reverts whenever they dont speak Arabic as if becoming Muslim comes with the Arabic language which can feel very lonely the more times it happens but in the end, we only have to rely on Allah and no one else.
May Allah strengthen all of us sisters to accept and follow His commands to strive to become the best version of ourselves in this dunya in order to face Him when He is pleased with us.

When I was in high school, university, and well even in law school, I was constantly struggling and finding it really difficult to wear the scarf. When I entered my last year of law school, something just woke me up and made me firm on it. I had this realization that this world is so temporary, and I may die at any moment. I told myself I didn't want my soul to reach the hereafter without observing the hijab in this dunya. That changed my life, and for 10 years, I have worn it every day and am still going strong! I agree, easing into changes make you more comfortable with them. You can discover a suitable style by gradually easing into wearing the hijab. Setting reverting to Islam as a scarier decision than it is also sets people up for failure. For example I was given the “you could die any day” talk about reversion and it didn’t help me to revert at all. These things should happen on your own and we should help to encourage people to build up their confidence! :)

I completely agree with the idea of easing into it and also for society to not make a big deal if someone wears the hijab or dupatta ( head covering is often referred to as wearing a dupatta on your head, which is pretty much a norm in the subcontinent) or not. I come from Pakistan, and wearing a dupatta on your head on some days, and not on others, nobody really thinks twice and I really appreciate having the freedom to do that as a woman. there have been instances where I wear the dupatta going out, and no one in my friends or family think it odd so if a society has an overall idea of modesty and encourages it, it's often easier to start wearing it permanently as well. Just thought to share it here and appreciate your covering the topic from so many angles and perspectives.

As someone who also wore hijab from very young (aged 11) I thought I'd never take it off. There was point where I would argue with my parents to allow me to wear jilbab or to try wearing niqab. After a lot of different struggles, when I was about 18/19 I took it off. I struggled with the Deen for a bit but Alhamdulillah in the last year I wore it again. And now I always aim to never be arrogant about my relationship with Allah. To believe even quietly to yourself that you're a good Muslim and you may never falter in your obligations can be the very thing to hinder you. Never believe that you are a good enough Muslim or better than some people. Always know that you are a human and humans make mistakes. The only thing that will ever keep you strong in your Deen and your practices are your sincerity and the will if Allah.
May Allah make us of those who He allows into jannah. And who He gives strength and hidayah in this life. Ameen 🤍

I started wearing the hijab recently in end of 2022 seriously I was so surprised of the biggest misconception about hijabis that we should be perfect??? No this still exist unfortunately. Lots of women even think this and this is the reason why some women don’t wear hijab too. You can do it, do not listen to anyone, I grew up without seeing anyone around me wear hijab imagine how much they learned Alhamdulillah 😍 Allah loves us all just need to push ourselves and take the step.

Exactly a week ago I decided to finally wear the hijab, in my heart tho I decided a long time ago that I wanted to wear the hijab. Unfortunatly we like to blur our minds that in todays society it is hard to wear the hijab, and it might be true for some parts. But I guarantee you it is SO WORTH IT!!! Alhamdullilah I feel like I was born new my heart is finally at peace, I cant tell you how long my MIND struggeled to wear the hijab, dont let your mind blur your heart. this video came at such an interesting time that it feels like a coincidence. i am 22 and i started wearing the hijab literally 2 weeks ago. its been really wonderful so far but before i put it on i spent months thinking about it, going back and forth, feeling scared and thinking of all the negatives. i felt like it would hinder my ability to have a career and also feel beautiful but thats not true at all. even though i am wearing it now, this video was full of positive energy and lovely reminders. thank you for what you do and may Allah bless you for helping others ♡
I appreciate this video and it speaks to me. I’m 51 and want to wear hijab and have been “practicing” as described. It helps. May Allah give all the sisters in the same struggle elevate your courage and confidence. Make hijab fit your personality. I love all the social media hijab content encouraging that wearing hijab doesn’t meet to look one way.
Also for me I would constantly remind myself that I'm doing it for the sake of Allah, for the love for my creator and constantly make dua that Allah gives you strength and increase your imaan. Walahi this made a big difference for me.

I’m a recent revert, and I started wearing it and everyone at my job knew me before and had seen my hair. Many people made rude comments and have treated me extremely different. At first it hurt me, but then I realized and thanked God that they showed me their true colors. Let me just say I’m leaving this job this week because it is a negative environment for me and inshallah I will find what is meant for me.
I saw a video of yours 3years ago talking about hijab and your experience and i didn't used to wear it back then but i wanted really bad to do this step and you were actually one of the people who encouraged me to wear it and it's been now almost 3years of hijab so thank so much for your positive influence may allah grant you his highest levels of jannah. This video is so helpful. I have been easing into it for some time now. Because of how religious I am, many people keep asking me why I don’t wear it, and I do wear it but not around everyone, taking the jump is literally scaring me. What exactly is the commandment that states you have to wear a hijab?
As a Western guy,i believe tolerance and respect should be shown towards any muslim woman who chooses to wear a hijab,whether its here in the West (or anywhere else in the world) )and in doing so,i hope those very same women who do wear a hijab show that same tolerance and respect ( that they expect from us)towards those Muslim women and girls who choose NOT to wear a hijab even if she happens to be their own daughter,sister or any other female relative.
Tolerance and respect has to work both ways.
If a Muslim woman is not wearing a hijab then she is going against Allah’s commands. There is no tolerance for disobeying Allah’s command as a Muslim. Quran 33:59
@@avgrando2024actually there is tolerance. Allah (swt) is the most merciful. It is up to Allah to judge these individuals as per their intentions and actions. The least we can do is work on ourselves, and not make the lives of others more difficult 😊

I don't know which country you're from but if you happen to be a Muslim woman here in the West,you have the right to wear what you want.
What you don't have is the right to impose your beliefs to others on what they should be wearing. For those who support the enforcement ideology of what's in your Qur'an,i suggest they move to Iran or Afghanistan that share your ideology.
Canada recently had a poster campaign in support of the hijab with a Muslim woman wearing it which read "DEAR CANADA. MY HIJAB, MY CHOICE. In response a group in Canada lead by former Muslims did a similar campaign featuring a Muslim woman showing her hair with the caption (aimed at supporters of the hijab) DEAR MUSLIMS, MY HAIR,MY CHOICE
Yes, of course. This is true. Only God can judge, and we as Muslim women can not be disrespectful and intolerant to women who don't wear the hijab. As a hijabi myself, I respect my sisters in faith who don't wear it, and I don't treat them any differently from the women who do wear the headscarf. I think what the first commenter meant was that in our religion, the headscarf is deemed obligatory - so we don't tolerate others saying that this is not something that is a commandment on women. With that said, all of us do understand that any commandment in faith is observed with love and complete submission only when it comes from the heart. 🌹✨️

If you believe it to be optional then I recommend you read tafseer by Ala-Maududi or Ibn-Kathir or any number of tafseer. The idea of it being optional is only a western perversion of 33:59. I would always read comments of sisters saying they started wearing the hijab and I genuinely always firmly believed that wearing the hijab was the one thing I would never be able to do. Here I am months later writing the same comment, alhamdulilah ❤ My advise is to go to the masjid more and maybe on fridays keep your hijab on to get more used to it. I bought sooo many different scarves, not great but this also helped 😂 I really love it but I still have bad hijab days and moments where I think about life before wearing my scarf but I remind myself why I am doing it, for Allah swt. Also ask Allah swt to make your lovre for the hijab grow, this is a standard duaa of mine everyday. Alhamdulilah always and may Allah bless all of you sisters. ❤❤😊

I love the idea of keeping it on after Jumah on Fridays, just feeling it out and going to the masjid more. That’s a great idea to transition into it. I think it would help those in our lives to be more encouraging of it as well if they see that it’s a progressive change versus a “BAM! Here we are, veiled!” It gives others an opportunity to adjust and ask questions especially those of us in non-Muslim countries like the USA.

Another option if the photos are special is to blur the area around your face where your hair is. Personally I would do that for anything that wasn't a selfie. If it was a selfie I don't care but if it's got friends and family that are no longer with me. FB can be kinda like a digital photo album. And taking down those photos may be really hard.
I am 24 and I am wearing it since 5 years, I made the decision myself, my mum doesn't wear it for example. and sometimes I feel like I want to remove it, I don't have many hijabi in my family, and I feel myself alone. Don’t risk your akhirah. This is coming from someone who removed it two years ago and are regretting it. Trust me - whatever you are going through or feeling- removing the hijab is never the solution. Turning to Allah making dua to Allah to ease things is the solution..
I do not know why some people bind hijab with headscarf only, sister hijab is not only about headscarf, it is part of it, wearing jeans and tight clothes are not hijab, be careful !!!
I don't get it. It gets so normalized that they call a scarf with make up 'hijaab'. They never really aknowledge that they don't wear fully hijaab but just casually calling it hijab when it really isn't. May Allah guide all of us

Coming from a revert hijabi since 2021 I can say the BEST piece to purchase is a hooded "duster sweater" it covers everything and you can still use your jeans and tshirts with it.

Im a born muslim (16) but I never grew up rly religious up until 3 yrs ago when I found Islam on my own. Alhamdulilah it has brought sm peace in my life and recently I’ve been feeling ready to put on the hijab but I don’t know how to bring it up to my parents in a nice and gentle way that wouldn’t make them immediately deny my opinion since they are kind of against it. Im currently making dua and praying tahajjud but I would appreciate if there was someone also with a similar situation as mine that could give me a little bit of advice :))

Personally i started it in 3rd grade which prolly sounds early bc i was nine. I started mid year so u can imagine the reaction. If im being honest, the sooner the better. The more practice i had (im in 8th grade now) the better i could style my hijab and felt more confident in it. Allah swt doesnt want people to feel forced to wear hijab, He wants to see ur resilience and test your loyalty. If u truly dont feel right starting hijab, talk to ur mom, im sure ur mom will be happy u talked to her abt it. I know its hard but its all worth it i promise x

You should always strive to do what the sunnah is, however something is better than nothing (in most cases bc some people just be disrespecting it). Also hijab is more the a headscarf, its also abaya, and how you carry your self❤
Here are some other tips:
No belts or tight clothing or anything that shows your shape.
Abaya or jilbab is also mandatory
Dont let the shaytan discourage you
Stray away from bright colors or shiny things as the whole point of hijab is to conceal yourself and your beauty and to not draw attention to yourself.
And Insha Allah, everyday that you wake up, you do btter than you did before and may Allah help us to all be better, Ameen😊

My personal issue is that I look better with the hijab than without it, and get told all the time my hair is ugly and my "flaw". Seeing that wearing the hijab is supposed to be modest and hide your beauty, I just feel like an imposter. If anyone can relate or help, it would be very appreciated :)

Thank you for this video, Jasmine. This was a really useful talk! I find that it's not always the case that the older women have more of a difficult time wearing the hijab. In fact, my mom started to observe it full time in her 40s. It was easy for her! Her heart loved it and at this stage of her life it became quite natural and essential to wear it right away. Now she looks like a queen covering her beautiful hair for the sake of Allah no matter where she goes and what she does. Whether it's a grocery store or at a formal gathering. It doesn't matter. She wears is proudly. Alhamdulillah. I dont think age matters. It's just the minset. 🥹❤️

the fact i watched the entire "changing the wardrobe" section thinking that ive been wearing the same abaya since ages (its almost gonna be a year). But ig its about what clothes you find comfort in. i may find comfort in my same old abaya and others may find it in dressing elegantly but modestly. Difference of opinion people, difference of opinion. Many people are unable to grasp the fact that others may wear the hijab 'wrongly' quote on quote but thats just not the case. Its their journey towards the hijab and all we can and should do is to advise them respectfully just like how jasmine did in this video. thanks jasmine for being such a vocal advocate for normalising people's journey of their hijab. ur doing an awesome job keep it up!

I’m pretty young… and I know that it’s time for me to wear the hijab but I’m afraid of how the people I know will react. Especially because I’m still in school and I know it will change the way people will treat me. I want to start wearing it in 2024 but that’s just a few days I don’t think it’s enough. My friends might not recognize me or maybe they’ll question what I’m wearing. I just can’t get into the hijab right… and don’t know how to avoid their judgement.
Heyy. I’m not the best in advice, but let me try.
hijab is compulsory in Islam once you hit puberty, But obviously it’s the person’s choice whether she wanna wear it or not. If you genuinely wanna wear the hijab, and if you think the only thing stopping you from wearing it is people’s judgements… just go for it. I’m not saying it will be easy for you but In Sha Allah it will get easier within time. Our aim in this world is to worship Allah alone and obey him. This world is temporary, Our hereafter is not. Remember, When you’re wearing the hijab, you’re basically wearing a verse of the Qur’an. :’) (if that makes sense-). 💕 Anyways, it’s your personal decision but I hope this helps! greetings

alhamdullilah i know that i will love it when i wear it inshallah and even when i wear it to the masjid i love that i wear it but its more that first step and committing to make the change in my life, thats the hardest for me. Just getting out of my comfort zone but i can't seem to do it
I’m also a hijabi since my childhood Alhamdulillah. Also I belong to a very practicing Muslim family, living in a muslim country i.e. Pakistan. And before social media I never realised how super blessed I am to have such supportive circumstances to wear hijab. Now I see girls struggling hard for hijab specifically in the countries where Muslim community is in minority. Hats off for all the girls who made it practical with all the huddles.
When I had just accepted Islam nearly three years ago, two months after my shahada I put the hijab on and was extremely happy. When the war in my country started and my family was fleeing from Ukraine to Greece, we had a pit stop in Bulgaria where it was the first time for me to feel that uncomfortable and unsafe in my hijab. People were so Islamophobic and hateful that I seriously thought about taking it off, fearing how people would treat me in other parts of the world… During that time, it was your video about the "take off the hijab trend" that helped me to stay true to myself and my faith. I love how you started with it being black and white for some people. For me i wear it for mosque correction. I want ro wear it more in my daily life. i want to transition into it but everytime i wear it in transitional way i get policed by "real" hijab's. They are so rude. Some even touch me and rip it off and scold me for wearing it wrong or like the girls in iran protesting against the proper way. I try to cover all my hair, sometimes my hair line shows (undercaps are hard). The worst part of the hijab is the neck apart i like it loose because i am autistic its a sensory issue not a political stands. Most of my hair is covered i wear long jackets and shirts but sometimes my neck is exposed.

I was a hijabi for many years until I was raped by another member of my Masjid in 2011. I remember trying to cover myself with every inch of fabric at the time of the incident and then took it off a couple years later and left Islam.
I tried putting it on again when I came back to Islam in 2020 but I felt like a fraud and was still living a sinful life, and couldn’t continue.
Back to Islam, praying, and wanting to commit again but don’t want to do it unless I’m committed. It’s been a process.

As one can imagine there was some religious trauma there. The man who raped me attended the same masjid as me. My daughter and I became homeless after I reported the crime; I had a female Muslim roommate and she said, “You make Islam look bad because you shouldn’t have been alone with him in the first place”. (I gave him a ride home because his car was in the shop)
We were later ostracized, no one would talk to me in the community, and we spent 6 months in a homeless shelter. The rape kit took 2 1/2 years to be processed and come back and then another 2 years to go to court.
He finally took a guilty plea just before we were going into jury selection. Was forced to register as a sex offender, serve prison time, and then was deported back to his country of origin.
Being a prosecuting witness in a rape case was re-traumatizing. Every time I went to court I had to see him and be reminded of it all and the hijab was supposed to be my protection from Allah; but it didn’t prevent him from raping me, from sodomizing me! And then I lost everything, my community, place to worship, my home. I asked myself why Allah abandoned me. It took many years and lots of therapy to learn that abandonment from Muslims does not mean abandonment from Allah.
I would rather be a lonely Muslim, and have Allah, than be a pagan with many friends.
ALHUMDULLILAH FOR EVERYTHING! I am so grateful to be practicing my faith again and I ask Allah to help me heal further so I can wear it again.

Hi, I'm an 18 year old girl with some pretty debilitating medical conditions. I've really considered converting to Islam and wearing the hijab, but I know realistically my body is incapable of the routines Islam dictates. Do you have any advice for people who are disabled who fear not being "devoted enough" because of limitations caused by disabilities?
Hey just wanted to tell you that there are always ways you can still practice. I feel like the thought of not being devoted enough is just whispers from Shaytaan keeping you of the right path.
I was forced into hijab when i was 10 years old and when my family moved to the USA from the middle east I took it off at age 16. I moved back to the middle east last year (after 22 years in the USA) and I was under a lot of pressure from all my extended family to wear the hijab again. They are not religious but they care so much about “looking religious” for example they won’t care if my face is full of make up and they don’t care if I pray 5 times a day or not but they care so much if I am not wearing the hijab and judge me for it. i did wear it for maybe a month because of all the presume I got from them, and also all the talk behind my back that no one dares to say to my face. I hated it so I took it off again after one month. Now, after 8 months i live far away from my extended family, i am still in the middle east but in a different country. I have been going to the mosque to pray taraweeh and I leave my house wearing the hijab and i do not take it off till i get back from the mosque. So i started feeling guilty that when i go to the doctor or store i am not wearing hijab. So just a few days ago I started wearing the hijab and it’s my own decision with no pressure or judgment from anybody and i like it actually and God willing I will stick with it. My message to anyone wants their daughter to wear hijab is do not pressure them because yes they might wear it but they will hate it. You want your daughter to wear the hijab for God not out of pressure or fear from you. Teach your daughter to love hijab without forcing it on her
