I bought one too, well spent. I got a Lisle one to have something quality that feels good in the hands so to speak and has more adapters for if I start doing some work as a side hustle.
Klowny can I use this same precudure on a 97 camaro lt1 so I don't to open up the bleeder screw? I'm afraid of and coolant dripping down on my opti spark
You have to make this spot the highest spot on the car for it to work if you have bleeders..like jacking up the nose of the car..I would still crack the bleeders open a little to get some air out though. There won't be alot of coolant pouring out, put a rag
Hello Klowny I was wondering if I need to use o rings on the connection from the trans cooler to the rad and also the hard line above it also? It's on a 97 camaro lt1 v8 automatic
One thing you can do to help eliminate trapped air in the first place is to pour the coolant into the radiator VERY SLOWLY - pausing from time to time.
Slick Gizzy, I have been learning that "modern" engines have serious potential for trapped air spots, that could be damaging. This is an answer to the whole problem. Thanks.
This was very helpful, but I would like to add that my car has a bleed screw where trapped air can be released. Finding that was what got all of my air bubbles out finally. All you have to do is loosen the bleed screw and fill the system until fluid starts leaking out of the bleed screw and tighten it back up. I continued to fill and do as the video said after that.
Using this type of funnel would make it the highest point of the car right? To get air out of the complete system because on my 05 impala I still can hear gurgling inside my heater core
Tried to find this at an auto parts store. Guy never heard of it and said the funnel ain't going to do anything for getting air out of the system. What he should have told me is, how do I get a job I am completely unqualified for using his method. Cuz it works, big time. Fifty percent of people at auto parts store I went to said they never heard of bleeding air from a cooling system. Crazy.
I trust the guys at the parts stores about...never. If they were mechanics, they'd be making $50/hr or more fixing cars, not $9.50 at the parts counter.
Hey! I think we shop at the same auto parts store! He also kinda snorts when a woman thinks she’s going to bleed a coolant system and doesn’t take his advice that it doesn’t matter what ‘color’ coolant I use. What a dork.
Respectfully, won't it make any difference if I can just leave the radiator cap off while running the engine? And slowing pour the coolant until it's full -- and when it is full, I may need to pay close attention inside of the radiator's cap location -- and just ensure the bubble's fully out?
Great video klown. Have you done a video version of this for completing the same task but without the spill free funnel kit? Kinda like a common man budget minded audience?
Thank u sir..its basically the same thing..just fill up the radiator and reservoir tank to full hot..just becareful when the thermostat opens, sometimes it can squirt out..so i would fill it all up before that happens and close the cap..thanks for watching
Are they using the 50/50 pre mix and it`s not concentrated enough so boiling the water off... ? Other wise it should have ( burped ) purged out the air and stopped bubbling. What a world. I always use concentrated coolant and mix around 70% coolant /30 % water
Hey boss. I got a 1966 Pontiac Grand Prix and I installed a "Be Kool" radiator. Will that burping kit fit aftermarket BE Kool radiators or no because it only works on OEM radiators.
Hey man. Even after topping off the reservoir and radiator with coolant, the radiator coolant level was still low the next morning? Why do you think that is? My car is experiencing the same. I do a lot of short driving- I drive to the metro everyday which is 2 miles from my house. I wonder if there isn't enough pressure in the system after a short drive and that's why coolant isn't being sucked back into the radiator. I'd appreciate your thoughts!
Sounds like u didn't get all the air out..if u are 100% sure alk the air is out and coolant is still disappearing , then u either have a leak or coolant is going in ur combustion chamber ie: bad head gasket...thnx for watching
I tried to use the no spill funnel that I bought and the adapters wouldn’t fit properly so when the engine was running coolant started coming out the cap they provided.
Excellent video. I have got to get me one of those funnels! And great tip on looking for a bleeder screw, if your Camaro has one, then maybe this 95 Jimmy has one too since they're both GM vehicles. I'm gonna change out the thermostat on it tomorrow so I'll look for it around the gooseneck which is where I assume it'll be nearby to.
+klowny1969 I crawled under vehicle with flashlight and saw nothing obvious, but I was thinking maybe freeze plugs and hoping for possible coolant hose replacement.
I don't think i can do step 2 , As it's not cold or Snowing where i am at :o/ 😂 Thanks for the Video. I am about to do my Infiniti FX45 8Cyl , The process should be the same?
Dear Sir I got a Nissan pathfinder R 50 , 2005 model ( Qatar - Middle East) , unfortunately I could not find the bleeder valve or air bleeder, please help me muhammad
"Best to put in the coolant as SLOW as ;possible"...that lets the air out....until one sees coolant coming out of the bleeder...first time I did it on m G35, I just poured it all in like no tomorrow and what a disaster...hard lesson learned....even my themostat got stuck my car was overheating like no tomorrow....still don't undetstand why my thermostat was completely stuck just by changing coolant....I had to change that out...my opinion, coolant is corrosive, once drained and exposed to air, thermostat metal gets destroyed...kind of like pulling something that has been in the ocean for years, once pulled out exposed to air, it starts to deterioate...
How do you know when all the air is out? Seems like it was still bubbling when you stopped car. And why stop car when it was still bubbling or did you just not show anymore bubbles then you stopped? And will air in the system cause you to overheat? When do you get air in the stystem? I've never bleed any car in my life, wonder why.
Hey..when the radiator hose that is connected to the thermostat housing is hot to the touch, that means ur thermostat opened up..once that happens pretty much most of the air is purged..air in the system will cause it to overheat..also dont forget some cars have bleeder screws that need to be opened also...thanks for watching

Make sure your heat is on and cranked up so the coolant will circulate through the heater core as well
They mentioned that in the video
Great instruction! Simple and well laid out.

Can you bleed the motor no matter how much fluid is in the block and the radiator or do you need to drain the radiator first and start over

Just jack up the front of the car and turn on the heat and add coolent until full. The air bubble will go to the front and out the radiator top.
Hank Bridges what if heater doesn’t work?
