I just got this today from Amazon and hardly moving UA-cam channel had this and I had a hard time figuring the sealed small tubes as to where the seal seats. Thanks to him I was able to get it right. I wish I saw this vid earlier too.
I got this for 3800 Series 3 GM engine. The threaded "D" cap and corresponding insert do not fit my standard GM radiator so it's useless. The threads on the cap are different. I ordered it on Amazon part # 87045. The only way I can think of to salvage the unit is to use an old radiator cap and drill a hole in it big enough to pass the yellow fitting through. Just finished working over the old radiator cap. I did it with a 1/4" drill bit to start, and then finished a 1 inch hole with a wood bit because the cap was plastic (the outside). I cut the inside off flush with the bottom of threaded part which released the internal spring and valve assembly. If you do that be careful because it is under tension and can pop out at you if you are not careful. I took a Dremel rotary tool with a steel bit and worked down the plastic to bottom of the o-ring slot so it should be able to get a good purchase on the threads on the radiation fill neck. It was not as bad as I thought as most of the cutting was through plastic.
7:36 - The plastic ring is actually for plastic surge tanks. Nice video. Thank you.
Always remember to turn the heater on full blast when burping the system.
Not correct pal. Heat temp on full and fan speed to lowest setting but not off. highest point to releave the trapped air in system. Done hundreds as a vehicle technician.
Does the spiller tool kit work on a m3 e46 thanks
This is good. Do you have a video about burping the engine?
The later versions look identical have a valve fitted to the lower funnel outlet which is really handy to gradually fill, even better it’s got litre graduations on the funnel exterior in 500ml to 2ltrs. Purchased this week at a really low price, already time saved and avoiding Ethelyne Glycol waste is a major heads up for any tool in 2023.
I have this kit but mine also came with a hydrometer for checking the coolant/water mix.
Yeah I have the OEM all green version, love the no-spill👍
This will come in handy when I fill up my windshield washer reservoir and wipers
GM adapter doesnt fit chevy vehicles right youll have to use it all ghetto
I saw that it was on sale last month for 9.00 , I bought a pair . it works great
@Dan H yeah, I posted it on my Instagram page. There’s 3 Multi bit screwdrivers on sale right now!
Many videos for this model. None for 87007. Mine has a built in shut off valve in the funnel Iassume it is used in the same manner.
just got mine the other day for my 2012 Nissan Frontier. I used the correct fittings and although the fitting that goes into the rad opening seems very tight, it leaks once I pour antifreeze into the funnel. Its leaking at the fitting with the rubber gasket. Any ideas why.
Hmm, I would have to be there to see what’s going on… Have you tried flipping it over? Would some grease help? Is there an overmoulding on the plastic that could be shaved down with a razor blade? These kits have been around for decades, there might be slight differences in the pieces, but for the most part, they’re all the same. I actually just saw a kit on the Matco truck under the Matco brand today. If anything, the funnel is nice, the stopper is a nice feature. Also, the extension pieces can be useful to fill hard to reach areas..
Does it fit on reservoir?
ABD ABD ABD!! A center plug for a funnel? How brilliant is that? 😁👍 Plus, the extensions look as much fun as a small set of Legos! 🎉 Great stuff, man. I especially love the "easy listening" music. Classy. Cheers and God bless! 😁🍻👍
@me again Dave yep! The simple things that make your life easier! 🍻🍻 cheers man!
This will come in handy when i replace my lower radiator hose.
@Chemical Spore yep! After that lower hose mess, the fill should be clean!
are these available for nissan. i didnt see it listed in your instructions
I don’t know how the Nissan looks like, But hopefully it should work, there’s a few other brands that have the same exact fittings, so unless it’s a brand new vehicle with a strange new cap, it should work
I'm thinking of giving this tool a try because I enjoy burping. haha It's been a while since we met up in Vegas. Hope all is well. Thanks Dan for the demo on the funnel!
Yeah man! Been great! We’ll see how SEMA looks this year!
I was trying to burp the system in the 2001 Kia Optima but the water wasn't swirling. I mean, the water didn't seem to be circulating in the engine or radiator. All this time I thought that the reason that the puter was throwing the code was because of air in the system as a result of switching out the radiator. Now, I don't know what to do.
If the thermostat is easy, change it first. Then at operating temperature, it should burp. If not, you might have a bad water pump
@@AutobahnDan Thanks for the answer. I just had to have it replaced so I'm pretty sure it's working now.
From what I've read, most of these budget kits fit very few vehicles, especially those with the fill cap on the expansion tank.
So I tried this and the coolant got hot an overflowed out of the funnel and went all over the floor. What could I have been doing wrong?
Oh man, definitely have to follow manufactures procedures. Every car make and model is different. Some have bleeder screws in certain areas where you have to get the air out before filling it all the way up. Some you have to fill up low and wait for them to burp.. too many variables.. you’re definitely going to have to look for the exact information on your exact make and model or find someone that works on the make and model of vehicle to make sure. I work on BMWs, Mercedes and mini..
What vehicles? It didn't work on my Impala. They use it simple radiator s
There is a patent with the design on this kit, it’s been around for a long time, if it doesn’t work then that might be the end of it. There is many brands that carry this design, you might get lucky with a different brand with a very tiny difference, but for the most part, they are all the same. If it was up to me I would just keep the funnel and use it for something else and I wouldn’t spend time with another brand, but it’s all up to you if you want to return it or not..
work on Mercedes? It has expansion tank without Cap on Radiator.
Not really needed on Mercedes, they’re easy to fill. You can easily find a Mercedes coolant cap adapter if you still want to use this funnel.
I noticed all the yellow pieces have corresponding letters, on each one, and the caps are lettered too.
Why didn't I get one of these 30 years ago.
Even thou it’s a copy they all work great
This is my favorite tool I own I swear to God haha. First time I ever did a coolant flush many years back, I got a funnel from my kitchen and wrapped duct tape around it to form a seal on my radiator. Then wondered why there was weird grey gooey muck around the filling hole of the rafiator
😂 definitely way better!
Damn, and I just paid $47 at O'Reilly's.
Note: don’t use household water in your cooling system. You need distilled water. There are minerals in house water that is not good your your system.
Hmm, must be for a specific motor or situation, I never heard of that and have been using tap water for years. Never had a problem. Thousands and thousands of shops have regular tapwater hanging off hose reel‘s and water faucets, they have to bang out services and I’m pretty sure they’re not gonna do anything about adding water to your system unless there’s a certain bulletin on a vehicle that requires special attention to the coolant.
@@kendalgee5808 well, in that case, then just get pre-mix..🤷♂️
How much you make now? What would it take to get you to move to a place with no building codes?.... Outside city limits. And cheapest cost of living in country.$1 gal milk. 1 bed apartments at $500. $13 an hour here same as $33 an HR in Cali. You can grocery shop with a machine gun and only need a machine gun permit. No gun or carry permits needed.
Would a 25 year $2 million contract with an additional million dollar retirement and a $5 million bonus opportunity be enough to get your attention?
@Sgt Joe Smith yeah, but is there hot chicks and beaches nearby? 🤣 haha! I’m stuck here..
@@AutobahnDan and tons of chicks at the Tyson chicken farms
@@SgtJoeSmith 🤣🤣🤣
Same harbor freight 29$
can use it to chug beers too
@Davion Martinez of course! 🍻🍻🤣
U used yes on a simple radiator duh. Try Impala radiator
Sure, let me make an 18 hour video and use it on maybe 5% of the vehicles ever made in the world. 😂 give me about 245 more hours to use it on another 25% of the vehicles ever made in the world! Be sure to bring your popcorn! It will be a super entertaining video! 😂😂😂
@@AutobahnDan I used on my Impala it didn't work the radiator neck design is tilted. Ya only use theses with straight up radiator neck facing up. Other radiator necks like Impalas have radiator necks facing facing tilted.
@@janielramirez9181 hmm, if I remember, there was an elbow piece..
@@AutobahnDan okay so I found the adapter that's fits on to the Impala and finally bleed the cooling system for 30 35 minutes with heater at full blast with no ac on and and the system has pressure with hoses. I wish they made cooling systems alot simpler or in the future. It gets tiring to taking it car to a mechanic and those days should not be the future. Should be the thing of the past. Kit comes on handy for sure
@@janielramirez9181 glad it worked out for you, many cars can be a pain and it’s unfortunate that they are all different in the way they burp!
🍺🍻👌👍👌🍺🍻
