  • In this video, I check out the Kiwi Design Elite Battery Strap for Meta Quest 3. You can buy this battery strap for $69.99 / £57 / €65.95 directly from Kiwi Design store 👉🏻 bit.ly/kiwiq3batterystrap. It also sells on Amazon US for $79.99 👉🏻 amzn.to/3tIoEx2, £59 from Amazon UK 👉🏻 amzn.to/3vr1snB (for non-SPC version), and hopefully soon from Amazon DE 👉🏻 amzn.to/41PDvm8.
    The Kiwi Design SPC Battery Strap for the Meta Quest 3 takes a leaf from one of their historically comfortable battery straps for the Quest 2, adds the ability to mount onto the Quest 3 side rails, and for the SPC model specifically, adds a way to easily mount the headset onto their own magnetic charging mount for continuous charging of the headset and strap battery when it isn't being used.
    The same top strap and rear padding are back again on this strap. Nothing has changed here from what I can tell. As is the battery and charging, with up to 15W of charging output to the Quest 3. So expect some slow charging whilst gaming, but in my tests it DID manage to keep my Quest 3 charged and increase charge during gameplay of Assassin's Creed Nexus and Asgard's Wrath 2 - both quite demanding games on the Quest 3.
    Comfort remains the same as the Quest 2 version, with a little forward drop in counterbalance, due to the lighter weight of the battery at the back means the counterbalance is around 60-70% than at 50% (halfway).
    Charging the strap with the downward-facing magnetic passthrough charging point on the strap cable is a nice touch - if you have their stand also - making for easy storage of the headset and charging at the same time, no physical plugging in required.
    As before, there's little to be disappointed about with this battery strap. Sure it could be more powered (both in storage and charging speed). If I were to nit pick I would have liked a way to keep the cable attached and opt to start and stop charging myself - I just don't trust the headset doing it efficiently - so a button to do this at the back would be perfect.
    Its counterbalance could be improved with more weight in the back, but I didn't feel comfort was too affected after a few hours of gaming on the Quest 3.
    Its price, built quality, ease of use and features make this my go-to battery strap of choice when looking at Elite style head straps. So if you've just picked up your Quest 3 recently and are on the lookout for an Elite head strap, don't go with Meta, head on over to Kiwi Design and grab one of these.

    For the dangling cable, that's why there's a 2nd hole in the wireholder for the headset where you loop it backwards.

    Nice review! I wish Kiwi would make and magnetic adapter that’s compatible with other head straps so I could leave their adapter in while using the Bobovr

      @OQPlay  3 місяці тому

      Yeah that would be a good idea to retro fit other adapters.

    Which headstrap has the least wobble when moving the head quickly or looking down (doesn't slip)?

    Great video man, was a lot of help.👍Do you know of a good carrying case that will fit the quest plus this head strap?

    • @OQPlay
      @OQPlay  Місяць тому

      I’m pretty sure I mention cases in this video. If not the kiwi small case fits fine and isn’t too bulky as long as you’re not packing more than the headset and its controllers.

    Thank you for the insightful review! I’m curious on how this product compares to the Aubika. Could you share your thoughts on which of these two you would recommend?

    • @OQPlay
      @OQPlay  2 місяці тому +3

      The Aubika has a bigger battery, its construction is good but I would say below that of the Kiwi strap. The Kiwi has a bigger rear foam padding and maybe a little thicker top padding. The Aubika has the ability to stop and start its charging, the Kiwi does not. Cable management is better on the Kiwi, and overall the Kiwi feels a little chunkier thank the Aubika.
      So taking all the above you should be able to make a choice between the two, based on what you think is more important out of all the pros and cons from each that I have mentioned above.
      Hope this helps

      Thanks for the comparison! Your insights helped me alot. I went with the more reputable Kiwi strap as I figured there’s probably not much difference between them. Your input was really helpful, thank you!

    peeverd mine didn't come with a top strap but two lil pads to hold it up. majore issues with the straps if you try and bend down and look up it pushes the back up your head making it loose, no matter how it sits how tight, it will always come loose if you dare to put any effort into a game

    • @OQPlay

      Get in touch with kiwi directly and they should send out a top strap. You need this to give the best support and comfort of this strap. Or send it back and buy it again.

    will a different brand wireless dock also charge the battery pack when you're charging the quest?

    • @OQPlay
      @OQPlay  Місяць тому

      Possibly it depends on the connection pins and if they match up as well as magnet polarity

    I'm confused between kiwi and kkcobvr q3 pro. Have you used kkcobvr. If yes then which would you suggest is best kiwi or kkcobvr?

    • @OQPlay
      @OQPlay  6 днів тому +1

      The Q3Pro strap is a different style of strap to the kiwi. It’s a halo strap with a top strap, which shouldn’t really be needed. I feel without using the Q3Pro that the kiwi would be more comfortable.

    If I play exclusively on a pc with a cable do i need to really charge the headset ?....I assume the pc will power the headset when connected?....not sure if i should buy the battery version

    • @reahs4815
      @reahs4815 20 днів тому

      PC usb ports are limited to like 5 or 10 watts so you will lose charge over time, I get about 4 hours with cable but I got a better wifi router so now I always play wireless

    • @OQPlay
      @OQPlay  18 днів тому

      It depends on your usb ports. You could try a more pricier optical data cable that might keep the headset charged. There’s 100W usbc to c cables about now that might also do the trick but it does come down to how much power is coming out of that usb c port. If it’s usb A it can’t be that much power going through it.

    Having a hard time pushing the black strap through. Any suggestions?

    • @OQPlay
      @OQPlay  Місяць тому

      If you wiggle it side to side and try to bring it up at and angle so you can grab an edge and then pull the strap through. Hope this helps. You could also try heating the end with a hair dryer to make it more softer too :)

    How does the Kiwi compare to the BoboVR S3 Pro?
    Thanks

    • @OQPlay
      @OQPlay  18 днів тому

      They are two different type of straps so you can’t really compare them as such but me go to is the S3. I prefer a halo strap over an elite style type of strap.

      @@OQPlay thanks. Is the battery size difference between the two even really noticeable? From the Amazon reviews it seems similar and maybe aubikas battery isn't actually larger than kiwi

    • @OQPlay
      @OQPlay  18 днів тому

      It all depends on how long you play between breaks. The aubika has a bigger capacity (8000mAh vs 6500ish of the kiwi) so it will store more charge but I always found the kiwi offered enough battery time between sessions and you’re charging between then. The promos aubika has the ability to choose when to charge via a button at the back. Kiwi doesn’t have that so as soon as it’s connected it’s charging.

    See... I find so much contradictory information. I've been trying to find out if the battery should be plugged in while both are completely charged or to wait until the quest 3 is low on battery to plug in. You say (after about 7 minutes) that you plug it in once your battery is low. Kiwi website says plug it in right away. Ugh.
    From their site: Note - To maximize the usage time, we recommend plugging in the Battery Head Strap when the Quest 3 battery level is at 80% or above.
