Once me and my husband took too many lsds and he got all freaked out so I showed him Jay Mohr do his Christopher Walken skittles commercials and it stopped him from having a psychotic break
What's even funnier is that all week, Wahlberg was on talk shows pretending to angry and insulted by the impression. Then, before this skit he just popped up in the cold open asking where Andy Samberg was. Wasn't even the host.
According to Samberg, he was genuinely annoyed by it. He basically came on to act like he's in on the joke instead of the punchline while also nipping it in the bud and putting Samberg in his place. Even the crowd could sense an awkward tension when he reared back like he was going to punch Samberg.
Thr real story: Mark had been asked to host SNL several times and turned them down. Claims he hadn't watched since 90s, but was a Will Ferrell fan. Mark had met Andy once, in Canada when Andy was filming Hot Rod. He said he liked the flick do he knew Andy was funny. But... He felt the sketch could have been a lot funnier. But that all comes out years latter around 2010 when talking about it again in interviews. At the time, in 2008, he was genuinely upset, and said: "Wahlberg told Kimmel, "When I see that kid, I'm going to crack that big f***** nose of his. Then I'm going to tell him, 'say hi to your mother for me'.... I'm going to go down to '30 Rock'.. and I'm going to slap him in the nose... I guaran-f*****-tee you." Andy is Jewish, and the big nose comments got him major flack. So how do you, if your Mark, regroup? Go on SNL and make fun of yourself. This is why Andy pretends yo be scared of him. Because in between the sketches, they were not cool at all. FACTS.
I think after I first saw this sketch years ago, for multiple years after, I would say “say hi to your mother for me “ . I could not stop laughing about it.
I was waiting for Mark to fit in 'what's that all about' in a sentence 😂. It gets funnier if you watch both videos together... And then realise that Mark was actually doing Andy's impression of him 😂😂
Walhberg’s final response should have been to say thank you and that he WOULD say hi to his mother for him. Culminated in him asking Andy to also say to his mother for him.
I first watched this sketch without watching the Talking to animals and i thought it was funny, but after watching it and coming back to this, this shit is even funnier 😂🤣

This was on the same episode that Sarah Palin hosted. I always thought this was a clever joke about how SNL's impressions ARE accurate regardless of the subject's complaints. Wish someone would ask Samburg about that.

Two great parts about this bit: 1) You had to watch the previous week's SNL to fully get it. 2) Wahlberg's joke about Brolin's stepmom, as that's Barbara Streisand lol

Mark Wahlberg needs to be on Brooklyn Nine-Nine as a villain. That would be epic!

So epic. Lol church going guy
