The next day I started fasting 18:6 and I cut my carbs in half , I started to drink only water and exercise for 1 hour a day 6 days of week! Because of those changes when I went to the doctor this past Friday my weight was 233 and my A1C was 5.2 my doctor said she has never had a patient drop there A1C in less than 2months! Thank you Dr. Fung❤❤❤

10 years ago on Thanksgiving, no less, I had cardiac arrest. I was overweight, pre diabetic, and although all the tests done to find the cause of the cardiac arrest, the doctor's couldn't determine the cause for it and told me how lucky I was to have survived. It really woke me up to my health, but it has definitely been a struggle over the years. Thank you. I have lost 20 lbs since I found you on UA-cam. I previously tried counting calories and that didn’t work. This is much easier since just giving up breakfast and skipping lunch during the week has been successful for me. I am an emotional eater, happy or sad. This just lets me know ahead of time to plan a good dinner.
I lost over 30 pounds during the lockdown and they are staying off! Thanks to you Dr. Fung! Your book "The Obesity Code" was an eye-opener and brought me on the path to health!
Soooo much good information here! I used to always eat in the car. Now I listen to your podcasts and interviews to and from work, drink coffee or green tea and it keeps me motivated. I'm 58, and I've lost over 125lbs since last November 😁. Thank you for teaching me how. I feel so well. Many thanks 😊
I found that fixing my diet helped me deal with all the other issues I was not dealing with. And as I was able to heal emotionally and physically. I found that fixing my diet was the best first step I ever made. If I tried to deal with stress and pain first then I'd still be 120kl lump of depression unable to move from the couch. So for me diet and healing is all one and the same. I can't have one without the other.
I accidentally discovered Dr. Fung and started intermittent fasting of 18-7 hours of mealtime. Without even thinking about it, i lost 3 lbs by having two full nutrition meals cutting intake of flour and sugary foods. Thank you!
It's always so easy to shame ourselves when we fail, instead of applying rational analysis. I am so grateful to get the information about fasting I needed. I have fasted alone and had great results, but I didn't have a support system to keep me going. I am succeeding now because I have the wonderful advice Dr. Fung provides.
same to me...nobody around me doing this..they dont hv knowledge...i try to inform and educate them a bit but i become blackgoat...my support is always watching all these dr on youtube and reading positive comments...
Such simple advice. "Healthy" breakfast cereals made me hungry to the point that i would eat a little bit of everything in the cupboard until i was over stuffed and i would still want more. Solution: I no longer buy any cereals.
Dr. Fung thank you for sharing. Down 35 and can't wait to weigh in on Tuesday. I ate a bag of Fritos and I think it was the diet soda 🥤 I was drinking, "made me do it!". Now I know that's a trigger for me. Thank you ❤️😊
I think the worst thing i had to go through is my own mom cooking my favorite food, eating my fav fruits.. n the complaints of my fasting.. n how i overdo my fasting.. if i feel light headed, first thing she says is "it's your fasting" it was mental torture... But thankfully I'm determined to get out of being obese.. i pushed through n stayed away from everyone.. never told anyone I'm fasting cause suddenly they become doctors.. it's annoying..
Many people regurgitate absolute non sense when they here someone is intermittent fasting. I took the stance to educate them however it happens so often I now could care less and take away a lesson about the credibility of the individuals that spout nonsense.
@@carlbruhn1772 yeah.. i started on omad.. then 3days, 7days, 14days, 40days water only fast.. i dropped from 390pounds to 195 currently.. the mental torture is hell.. i have 15 pounds left to reach my BMI n i couldn't have done it without Jason Fung..
I have been following Dr.Fung since a year now. I have recently recovered from Covid for thr second time and yesterday was my first day of fasting. I wish to do rolling fasts of 48hours till I reach my goal. Thank-you Doc for eliminating fear of fasting.
Omad of healthy food and walking has lowered my b.p to that of a young healthy adult and I'm 69 and pass for 59. Plus never any cravings. No meds at all. Thank you doctor and God for giving me daily commitment to health and growth. I don't buy I to old age deteriorating unless it's deliberate to sit, watch TV and eat junk.
snacking habits r so tough to break.. what ive been doing is to never buy them at a grocery store. when i start to crave chips or cakes i pick a convenience store that's 1-2 miles walking distance away. that 2-4 mile walk round trip will help you or prevent you from gettin those snacks. another tip is to only bring 5$. that way you limit how much snacks you'll end up with altogether ( bag of chips, a drink, cookie)
Hello dr... As u said I know everything but unable to stick on as I don't create the environment .. from now I'm in track will update my progression in the comment section every week. Thank u so much
Love your videos Dr Fung. They’re always so timely; just what I need to hear exactly when I need to hear it. Breaking 72 hr fast at lunchtime by loading up on protein and fiber (tuna and homemade sauerkraut). Then I’ll start another 55-72 hr fast.
I’ve started rolling 72s myself. Was doing either a 48 or a 72 per week and OMAD other days. Then did alternate day fasting for a week and now rolling 72s. Down 60 pounds in 74 days.
Intermittent fasting helped me also to cut on those "bored eating" cookies. Instead of fighting myself to limit the amount of cookies I can eat, I just set that number to zero for 20 hours a day.
I read something on Facebook in a comment section yesterday. I've since maybe watched over a dozen of your vlogs with in the last 24 hrs, just trying to wrap my head around the whole interment fasting thing. I'm experiencing menopause, suffer ptsd, anxiety, depression, was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes the end of 2021. But your vlogs have given me hope. Without realising, I'm in my 18th hour without food. I'm amazed at the will power I thought I didn't have. Your such a kind person Jason in sharing your philosophy for "free" 🤷🏻♀️ whatever it is. I for one appreciate you 🙏🏼. Hopeful to continue this journey 🤗. Day ONE. Big ups to whoever else is starting their journey to x.
I have found your books and videos inspiring and so far I have lost 22kg since June, I am no longer pre diabetic and generally feeling much healthier, I still need to loose about the same again so will continue with IF and low carb eating my GP is very impressed with my results so thank you
U R exactly right.. i have knows what i need to do for over a yr but i just can't stick to it - after 1-2 days i just go back to eating something not good. I used to be much stronger when i was younger but now i just take it like just enjoy life, don't make it so serious. But then again the weight has made me less confident, less social more introvert and also unhealthy of course which reduces my lifespan so i really need to get serious. My problem is due to my long work shifts i always used to eat late around 9-10pm and would always just grab something from outside since i didn't want to cook that late. Now for over 2yrs i work from home but still haven't been able to change my routine - unreal. Neways saw ur video and i understand - its not just about knowing - have to have a system around u that will help u get into that mode where u reduce carbs to a min and then also maybe those cravings will stop. My goal is to get little better by the end of this year so next yr i can be strict and planning on 2022 to be a stellar yr.
So happy you went for medical studies you are my favorite with all your make sense knowledge. Have your books also intermitting fasting i refer back all the time. Thank you Doctor FUNG .
Mike I agree with you. Dr. Fong definitely did save my life from a mini stroke which could’ve been a full brown blown stroke due to my past eating habit. My blood pressure was 208 and I didn’t know how to speak for a period of five minutes then I regained my self. My son in law Stephen Hopkins MD in Sonora at Motherlode vein institute now acknowledges Dr. FUNG on his website. My son-in-law is a general surgeon and deals with many people who have had diabetes and have had to illuminate toes legs etc. due to poor knowledge. He works at various hospitals in wound care and explains to people to check out Dr. FUNG to save them and teach them what is really going to save them and save them from more wounds and amputations. If Dr. FUNG only knew
I had the habit of logging subs when I first went keto and when I found you, you were at 63K subs. You deserve ever one of your 689K subs. Your first 1mil will come before 2022 ends, or maybe sooner. WTG!
I'm no scientist but intuition tells me you're spot on. It just makes sense to give our bodies a break, and it certainly won't kill us. Otherwise what is the point of our body's ability to store fat in the first place? The biggest issue for me is the social pressure. I'm not obese, but I am about 30 pounds overweight (down 10 pounds in 2 weeks thanks to a single low carb meal once a day!) When I go on my fasting kicks, friends and family look at me with absolute disgust and worry. "Your body needs nutrients!" " We already fast, that's why they call it break FAST" "That's not healthy for you". Or I get the straight up eyerolls and the "you look fine", like I'm ONLY 30 pounds overweight and shouldn't worry about it. A lot of contempt overall. There's a whole lot of talk about "fat shaming" but very little about the hate you'll get for trying to get healthy, like "look at that non-obese person eating a salad, ugh, who does she think she is??" 😑 And yes, I'm in the U.S. 😂 well I want to FEEL healthy and not just look it, so anyway thanks for your videos, very informational and reading through the comments attached is always inspirational. Thanks all! 😊
It's about being informed, deciding what you want and where you want to be in your life, bur most importantly being single minded so you cut out ALL that does not help you achieve this. Snacking, eat the wrong foods, being lazy are all either distractions or examples of negative behaviours. If you want it that bad you will do it.
I really liked the section on excess eating during Covid lockdown as other avenues for entertainment were restricted . I really feel that one reason that low income people are disproportionately obese is because food is a relatively cheap form of entertainment . This is compounded by the fact that cheap foodstuffs often promote obesity .
Also on limited income it’s very expensive to eat healthy it’s cheaper to buy the combo meals . Cauliflower for 6 dollars verses burger and fries and drink for 6 dollars ? It’s tough times out there for many, it’s depressing for many. Be kind! I intermittently fast to budget and feel better! As a senior with limited income , COVD, it’s been difficult. Walking helps thankfully. Many cannot!
@@lidiaspyrka8096 Thanks for your comment . Despite us having a welfare state here.in the UK there are still a lot of people who live in poverty . People who live on low incomes and who are obese are told to cook fresh food . In their ignorance they don't understand that many poor people can't even afford the fuel to cook food - and fuel costs have just got considerably more expensive . Something like 100, 000 British kids live in temporary accommodation where they won't even have access to cooking facilities . Many of these people will live on 2 pizzas for the price of one , and who can blame them . The information DR Fung has provided particularly about IF has helped me enormously with weight and health issues . There is a strange assymetry in all this . Here in the west we have to resort to fasting to deal with weight issues and yet worldwide still about 9 million people die from starvation annually ! Anyway I send you all best wishes regarding your own health and circumstances 🕊️
@@michaeldillon3113 thank you for your kind wishes , I so agree fasting does help $ and health! Unfortunately times are getting worse for many we can only pray and wish for the best for us all! ✌️
My opinion on making fasting easier. Eat foods you enjoy. It's much easier to not eat when you know that you will enjoy the food when you are able to. It's less torture on yourself. I have been eating all of the food that I enjoy. I'm only eating one meal a day though and so far have lost 32 lbs.
Years ago I noticed Iʻd run to the cupboard and grab whatever chocolate bar I had, when I had an upsetting interaction with a family member. When I actually realized what I was doing, it was a real wakeup-call moment. Now I realize that when I get triggered by a relationship issue, I have to watch myself.
Understand where you’re coming from. When ex would go bowling on Thursday nights I would fill up on ice cream and candy since he won’t be there to give me “the look” or make me feel stressed .
I used to do the same thing. I knew why I was doing it, but I couldn’t stop myself until I realized that the other person isn’t worth wrecking my health.
I'm glad to hear those few wonderful tips from Dr. Fung. I was lucky that my so called "will power" was enough to motivate me to stick to keto and then add some IF. Looks like good old fashioned "will power" isn't enough these days. I was one lucky bastard.
After more than a year of following your vids, blog, and email campaigns, it has finally dawned on me: *Fasting is a skill that must be learned through repetition.* Maybe you tried to say that when discussing ghrelin, but it was not clear until I reached this point in my journey. Currently on Day 5. As you said, it gets easier after a few days. At this point, it seems easier to continue to fast rather than eating. (On a side note, I feel noticeably more peppy today. Like a spring in my step sort of thing. Napoleon Hill wrote about something similar 80 years ago in "Think and Grow Rich". It was just a passing comment, but he said that, when he felt sluggish, he would skip eating for a while (time not mentioned). This is consistent with your discussions of fueling the brain on ketones. )
The Noom program sounds like what you are saying a very good program was looking for extra motivation and listening to you shows I am on the right track. Thank You
1.what limiting beliefs that are limiting me from fasting? Am I afraid I am going to die of hunger? 2. What systems that are blocking me? How can I change them?
I like that comment that rather than suffering from an obesity epidemic we are suffering from a ' lack of willpower epidemic ' . Tragically in the UK a large proportion of the medical profession buy into the lack of willpower idea . Cure - fat shame the patient !
I've don't a few 36 hour fasts in the past year. Starting to get serious about it now. We just go into a meal prep book and started removing snack foods and off plan meals. Today is a 16 hour fast. Drinking tea and planning a walk at lunch today to stay out of the kitchen.
The problem that I've experienced has actually been that a lot of people don't have the knowledge (because there's so much misleading information out there) but they tell you what you need to do and that keto and fasting is killing you, etc. The worse is when it comes from people you care about and love and you know they are coming from a place of wanting to help but they do exactly the opposite. I've failed many times on my weight loss journey because of this lack of support.

Dr. Fung is a National Treasure. God Bless him and his loved ones.
I'm sure your car is a lot cleaner now that you don't dine in it anymore. :) Happy harvest season.
@@AzaleaBee Yes you are right! 😂.
Congratulations! That is fantastic!
@@lindalentz5093 Thanks Linda!
Thank you Dr 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Same same
Stress induced snacking is my #1 enemy. Thanks for the reminder and available options to deal with it!
True
Omad of healthy food and walking has lowered my b.p to that of a young healthy adult and I'm 69
and pass for 59. Plus never any cravings. No meds at all. Thank you doctor and God for giving me
daily commitment to health and growth. I don't buy I to old age deteriorating unless it's deliberate
to sit, watch TV and eat junk.
I love every video this awesome gentleman puts out.
I love how each vlog is always well presented, informative and factual
snacking habits r so tough to break.. what ive been doing is to never buy them at a grocery store. when i start to crave chips or cakes i pick a convenience store that's 1-2 miles walking distance away. that 2-4 mile walk round trip will help you or prevent you from gettin those snacks. another tip is to only bring 5$. that way you limit how much snacks you'll end up with altogether ( bag of chips, a drink, cookie)
Always such a caring message. One of the best guides to health out there. Thank you Dr. Fung!
Beautifully comprehensive !!! Precious gift to those of us who are suffering and in danger.
Hello dr... As u said I know everything but unable to stick on as I don't create the environment .. from now I'm in track will update my progression in the comment section every week. Thank u so much
God bless you with the righteous deen aman you are saving humanity from bad health 🙏
Dr.Fung.
It just wouldn't be Sunday without a Dr. Fung video 👍
Love your videos Dr Fung. They’re always so timely; just what I need to hear exactly when I need to hear it. Breaking 72 hr fast at lunchtime by loading up on protein and fiber (tuna and homemade sauerkraut). Then I’ll start another 55-72 hr fast.
Way to go!! I just did 7 days. It’s doable. Net lost 8 pounds. Now OMAD seems like a piece of cake, pardon the pun. 2 meals seems like indulgence.
I’ve started rolling 72s myself. Was doing either a 48 or a 72 per week and OMAD other days. Then did alternate day fasting for a week and now rolling 72s. Down 60 pounds in 74 days.
I purchased your book. I am grateful for your work. ❤️
I fully stop using refined carbohydrates and do regularly fasting skip breakfast. Thanks for your valuable information
Intermittent fasting helped me also to cut on those "bored eating" cookies. Instead of fighting myself to limit the amount of cookies I can eat, I just set that number to zero for 20 hours a day.
Dr. Fung, You are such a light in this world. A humble and benevolent guide (AKA an Angel)--leading us to a much better place.

I have found your books and videos inspiring and so far I have lost 22kg since June, I am no longer pre diabetic and generally feeling much healthier, I still need to loose about the same again so will continue with IF and low carb eating my GP is very impressed with my results so thank you
Watching all the way from Botswana, Africa. Thank you Dr. Fung for the informative videos. Much appreciated. I learn a lot from you
Is obesity rising in Botswana? How is it there?

"a little better by the end of the year". I agree. Small changes made into long term habits is the way to go. All the best to you.
One of your best. Thank you.
So happy you went for medical studies you are my favorite with all your make sense knowledge. Have your books also intermitting fasting i refer back all the time. Thank you Doctor FUNG .
Thanks for each and every video 🙂 you are really a superhero.
Wise man. Thank you, and, may God be with you!
Thanks!
I had the habit of logging subs when I first went keto and when I found you, you were at 63K subs. You deserve ever one of your 689K subs. Your first 1mil will come before 2022 ends, or maybe sooner. WTG!
Thanks
Thanks all! 😊
Love you, Dr. Fung!
I always enjoy your talks, thank you
It's about being informed, deciding what you want and where you want to be in your life, bur most importantly being single minded so you cut out ALL that does not help you achieve this.

Such a helpful video. Im such an emotional eater. I know something is bad for me but when i go crazy once in a while , no one can stop me 😃😭
Excellent discussion, Dr. Fung. You are always doing so much to support your audience and we deeply appreciate your efforts. Thank you!
Thank you so much
Years ago I noticed Iʻd run to the cupboard and grab whatever chocolate bar I had, when I had an upsetting interaction with a family member.
Thanks Dr Fung, I wish everyone success In their weight loss journey. Enjoy your Sunday 👍💯
Valuable advice.
I'm glad to hear those few wonderful tips from Dr. Fung.
I was lucky that my so called "will power" was enough to motivate me to stick to keto and then add some IF. Looks like good old fashioned "will power" isn't enough these days.
I was one lucky bastard.
Thank you Doctor Fung you're very realistic
Mind Blowing Tips 👌
After more than a year of following your vids, blog, and email campaigns, it has finally dawned on me:
*Fasting is a skill that must be learned through repetition.*
Maybe you tried to say that when discussing ghrelin, but it was not clear until I reached this point in my journey.
This is consistent with your discussions of fueling the brain on ketones. )
Day 12: This is terrific. Eating is overrated. Mostly a bad habit.
I truly appreciate you sharing your experience and knowledge on this subject!! Thank you 🙏🏼🙂 for sharing your spot on knowledge with us Dr Fung
