one of those bands that don't seem to be remembered as much, but when you listen to their back catalogue there is a surprisingly large number of indie classics
I remember hearing that song in 1990 on the radio and desperately trying to find out who this band was. xD I still listen to their Best Of CD quite often these days. Great band.
First saw them supporting Bowie in Manchester. Didn’t know who they were. I do now. Greatest Manchester band ever bar none. 3rd only to the Beatles and stones. Tim Booth’s energy and vocals second to none. Most underrated band ever. Can’t get my head round it .
Moved in to a new house yesterday and this song came on as I was driving in to my new town and continued right up to parking in my new drive.....a sign hopefully!!!! Xx
I watched this classic video in an extremely clapped out rustic bar in Lima Peru recently.. The way I feel just makes me want to scream... Oh that lyric hit the spot after six large bottles of beer. Nonetheless at that moment I was overwhelmed with a warm sense of happiness...
After seeing James at Scarborough last year .I truly forgot how many fantastic songs they have done .they was absolutely fantastic live better than some of the massive gigs I've been to .if you gey a chance go see them what a show man truly brilliant my kids now hooked age 17,20&22
This Album is in my top 4 of all time . And the other 3 are 1 . The Who : Quadraphenia 2 . The Jam : Setting sons 3 . Ocean colour scene : Moseley Shores . These 4 are the ones I can easily listen to for an eternity .
William Main Y'know I just saw them a few months ago in NYC when they made a quick stop here. I grabbed a few tickets and had a blast, their live act is incredible! Yet it's the music, the poetry in the lyrics that gets you. I'm glad they made #LaPetiteMort great album!
William Main I've been to Manchester a few years back, could see the home-town traditions and fierce loyalties in place. It's the music though, this sound that came out of Mad-chester lol. Soon as I heard Jarvis Cocker, Blur, Charlatans, Verve, Richard Ashcroft, Richard Hawley, damn there's so many I can't name em all, I don't care where they're from but surprisingly so many are from the Manchester area. Wish I hadn't missed out on that time but making up for it. James is BEST.
Amazing Manchester band, who I folllowed from their early origins and early live sessions on Manchester's 'Piccadilli Radio' , still got the recordings on cassette that I taped off the radio! Amazing band, this is from an amazing LP 'Gold Mother' but this has always been my fave track by them ! dx
Concerting again UK going to see them in june . wow had original goldmother album before re releaze in late 80s along with strip mining and another before they made it into the charts and festivals in 90s
Crazy thing is they never thought they were that good. They supported a lot of bands like Inspiral Carpets and Happy Mondays before developing their own following. For me, with the possible exception of Stone Roses, they were the best.
Stone Roses only have 2 records and the only time I saw them live they were shit, others like James, The Charlatans and Happy mondays way much better on Stage.
What a refreshing change - a good song on UA-cam, with no meatheads giving it the thumbs down. Almost unheard of! "After 30 years, I've become my fears - I've become the kind of man I've always hated." Ouch. When I first heard this, it was just a good lyric. Now, many years later, it's too damned close to home...
there are so many good songs on youtube, like every song ever made? and who cares if someone with a drug problem doesn't like it? who cares if anyone doesn't like the same music as you?
On Friday i started listening to this video and I love it and I love it where they was filming it and Tim was holding a wooden bat and looks like that Tim was having a dusl with another band mate at leat it was sunny there Thank you Tim Booth and the other members for that it was great fun you guys are fun too xxx

James the biggest band you never heard of
It's amazing that we met here on the same day.
Everybody my age has heard of James.
@@barneypitt3868 that how the band was advertised in the UK am 52 so yes people our age have heard of them
JAMES, always and forever. SOLO MANCHESTER!!
James most underrated band of the 90s indie era ,,,
Some absolute belters in their collection ,
Big respect ✊.

What a superb band! So underrated! Thank god for UA-cam that we can find these hidden gems a generation later.
And James is touring right now, with Johnny Marr. Great show.
Loving James even more than I did in the 90s right now!
I remember hearing that song in 1990 on the radio and desperately trying to find out who this band was. xD I still listen to their Best Of CD quite often these days. Great band.
1990 was such a great year for music and this was top of the pile
what an anthem. Brilliant song by a brilliant British band.
*Manchester band.
@@BIGNOIDS Isn't Manchester in Britain ?
No need to correct then silly goose.

This band are very clever, musically and lyrically. I loved the 90s 😍
Classic song now, great lyrics & melodies. Melancholic somehow. Love and never tire of it

Greatest? Then you don't know The Fall...

Cheeky girls
I agree they're good, but new fast automatic daffodils were the best Manchester band
I thought new order were the official best band in Manchester
This is one of the songs that makes me most homesick for Manchester.
Sadly, Machester of the early 90s hasn't existed for a long time, not even in spirit, was a golden era tho!
Moved in to a new house yesterday and this song came on as I was driving in to my new town and continued right up to parking in my new drive.....a sign hopefully!!!! Xx
First ever gig, James at the Gmex in Manchester, loved it.
International 2 ..😊
I was there too flippin great gig
I was at that one!! My first was James at Platt Fields 1985.

Great taste there, lad!
Top tune, the energy of this song is off the charts, great era
They will always be my favourite band.❤️
James have been around for over fourty years now, the start of the Manchester music scene before all that Oasis and Take That nonsense !
I'm actually going back home after been away for 30 years. Thanks James, it brought me back to 1990
On parle souvent de la performance de Nirvana aux Transmusicales de Rennes en 1991,mais je n oublierais jamais non plus celle de James.Quelle époque !
I don't think they even knew they were making a rave classic here. God the memories!
this is NOT a rave? it's indi club / live music. there's no guitars at raves.
@@scooby1235 it was sampled on libidos second coming, classic old school rave

Great great times when this came out.. Britain was on fire with new and exciting music.. Great stuff.
I'm only just discovering it, too. Music was cut off for me during that time, and this group, Tim Booth's poetry, it's all stunning to me.
Born of frustration is also something else... I still have my royal blue (white writing come home t shirt) brilliant

Having a ticket to see James in '90 (Manchester) in my hand & not being able to go because I was in a play is quite possibly my life's biggest sorrow!
Big oof
guys stop the nostalgia James are actually still together
Azza Ghaidouni u weren’t there so u don’t get it, sit down and listen!
Anyone who thinks something must be over for one to feel nostalgic about it does not understand the nature of nostalgia.
One of my favorite James songs. This one reminds me of Happy Mondays - Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches.
Tim Booth & his beautiful hair...😍😍😍
He’s a stunning man, but that curly, floppy hair...ahhh takes me back 😍😍
