Mark my words: some movie will use this in a key scene and the song will chart to the top, 30 years post release. World did not have a chance to appreciate this masterpiece and it’s still fresh as it was in the 90s.
We can only hope. I heard this song through my dad, and it’s still IMO my favourite song ever written. There’s something very surreal about it that everyone I have shared it with has just not gotten in the say way I have
You're so right! I absolutely loved this song when it came out and knew it was good, and others liked James but not to the level they should have, thinking back on it now. They are still so relevant and so much better than a lot of what's played now. People just have to be introduced somehow and they will be hooked 😊
I'd have it at the end (the Where is My Mind slot) as the camera spirals distantly upwards as our protagonist breathes his last. Delivers him on......Delivers him on.
I had never heard of James. A friend of mine played it for me one night. I fell in love immediatedly with them. He died 3 months later of cancer. So Allan I know u are there. thk u for such a precious gift.
Hey, my dad turned me on to James in 94 when I was in High school and they've been mine (and my dad's) favorite band ever since. My dad also died of lung cancer, just this last October. James brings back great memories of listening to them in the car with my dad, my best friend in the world who had the greatest taste in music. They are a precious gift indeed my friend.
The water on this video is a metaphor; it’s a physical description of what it looks like inside someone’s heart someone’s mind someone’s soul when they are so in love with someone…. just like water is so powerful, so is someone’s immeasurable love.
heard this song in 1994 when I was 11 on a summer holiday with my parents, recorded on a tape cassette. It has stayed with me ever since. 37 years old today and celebrating my birthday in lockdown alone, listening to this song every-time like it is the first time I'm hearing it. :)
Jeeva DotNet Happy birthday for the other week my friend, hope you’re staying safe in lockdown. Music can get you through the worst of times, and can remind us of the best of times 🎸
I’m 37 years of young age lol and James has just took over my life. Bands of choice are oasis and the full Manc scene I never knew they where Mancunian. How did they pass me by. Outstanding band.
I’m in the same boat my friend! I only heard this song for the first time yesterday and I’m in my 40’s. I’ve had it on repeat since then and can’t believe I missed it back in the day
Saw them in the 90s at Lollapalooza..When they were playing Perry Farrell sat down right behind me. I was so giddy. I just turned around and waved to him. He raised his glass to me. Unforgettable experience.
Never get over the amount of younger people who've never heard of james, tgere are bands that will never achieve a back catologue of so many great songs
Absolutely. If you said you love James… people would think you’re gay and not know they’re a band hahaha speaking for myself from personal experience lol
The 90s we're incredible and this song was a part of that. Social media wasn't a thing back then and we just worked our arses off all week to party at the weekends to get on it and listen to tunes like this with our friends❤
I think James are one of the few bands that I can listen to whatever mood I'm in. They have an unbelievable variety of amazing songs. They are up there as one of the best British bands of all time for me. Very underrated but the fans know just how great they are.
1994 I think it was at the Kitsap County fairgrounds James played this song. Pouring rain, stage lit up in blue, friends with me. Definitely one of the best moments I remember

If we are lucky and heaven does exist I imagine meeting all lost friends and family furry or human and we all sit down and hug and live out the rest of eternity happy and content with this playing in the background xx
Some loved the Roses - others thought Oasis were the coolest since the Beatles - but for me it's always been James. The emotional connection the music has is mesmerising
@@JustinSawyer-ji5wmNot true but it's your ears buddy. I'd place them third behind Roses and James, I prefer Doves above Oasis but Oasis were spot on too. Of their time, James are a timeless band.
I remember listening to this while driving my first car in summer of 94, the windows wide open, cigs & sunglasses on board and this song in my ears - what a happy time, thx for this James!
Saw them 3 nights ago and you are absolutely right. First time I have seen them live and first time I heard more than their best known songs. Now on a journey of back catalog discovery.
This was the band that was playing at Woodstock 94 the first night when it started raining really hard. The rain and their performance was magical. These guys are incredible live. Thanks for a lifelong memory I will always cherish. Love you guys.
@JamesBandLines Hello!! Is it Tim or Timothy? Thank you so much for responding personally. It means the world to me because I have been a fan of yours for a long, long time now. Life is good for me, and I hope the same is true for you. Everytime I hear one of your songs it takes me back to Woodstock 94. I keep coming back because your music is timeless and special to me even more now as time passes on. You have so many fans that really appreciate you everywhere in the US and on YT. Loved these blokes since i was 19 im 45 now and not listened to much music for 8 yrs since we moved and my tunes got put away, picked up seven the other day and boooooom im back thanks lads.
James is a band that remains relevant ever more so after 30 years, Tim is unique and brilliant, he delivers a worldly depth that few artists possess. I hope that future generations take the time listen to James and appropriate their talent.
This is one of the most beautiful, and touching songs I have ever heard. It has helped me through some dark times and made good times even brighter. I don't normally post, or sound as soppy, but I felt compelled.
Hello. I'm from Peru. When I hear this song I have a feeling as if something wrong or difficult in life is coming to an end and a new bright day is going to start. It's an opinion.
If ever there was a band that seemed to produce song after song, album after album that seems to represent my journey through life, it was James! Their music reaches every corner of your soul!
This is my favorite song by one of my favorite bands. I finally got to see them live this year when they headlined a festival at Hardwick Hall. It started raining around 5:00pm, by the time James came on it was biblical. Early in the set there was a flash of lightening so they played Sometimes sooner than planned. Its a spiritual experience for me watching this video and singing along (I can't think of many other songs that do that for me). I'm from northern England but have lived in Oz for 10 years. Really hope James come out here one more time!!
This song is so so powerful I can feel the moment I heard it for the first time. Full moon, the person I love sleeping on my lap, a man driving through the night, 5am, a plane waiting for me, a painful goodbye waiting for me... I didn't wanna get on that plane, but for some reason I had to. This song kind of explains that craziness in life you get to experience sometimes.... I love this so much, it's magic, thank you
I heard this song for the first time in a bar in my early twenties, not knowing what it was, before the internet existed. I was so taken with it, I remembered certain phrases of the lyrics … years later when the internet existed I typed the lyrics I remembered into yahoo and it came up with the song. This is a rousing track that LIFTS MY SOUL. Peace x
Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes I swear I can see your soul! What more needs to be said? When you meet that person, you just know! James write & perform another amazing song.
This song makes my heart sing when I hear it but when I hear it live and I get to sing along with Tim and thousands of others it makes my heart soar! Pure, beautiful, wonderful music from one of the bands who have become the soundtrack to my life.
I will always love this song... it's perfect. Didn't really appreciate it at the time, was too into Rave and Hardcore to notice. I'm thankful that as I've grown older I now realise how good it is and will always be. Thanks James.
James are so glued to my youth, my generation...in Portugal, every year, and for about 10 years, James came to “Queima da fitas” festival...so much good memories, we where young and wild, and we listened to James. Sad that young generations don’t have a band like James to listen to
I’m in love with that song from a little child, I was listening that when I was worked at Greece and when I was feeling good and only, something magic, always had put this song in my mind. Last summer I had the pleasure to see this man live, and hear that song in park life fest where I was sell Greek food. I’ll never forget that moment. I’m listening now this song again after so long time because of a girl who just met and she change everything in my life just in moment. Cheers guys. Cheers James. Keep your mind calm and your curiosity with no limits. With love from a Greek guy who lived at England for 2 years and now after a week in Greece continue his life here!!!!!!!!!
My wife and I conceived our children listening to James Laid. We where very lucky to see them live for the first time in Melbourne last year. I think it was a Monday night and the place was packed, still loved and remembered. Love to Manchester.
If you love James and you love this song, then I love you!! :) Best song and best band for me ever!! They are the soundtrack of my life. Perfect band, perfect music, perfect lyrics, perfect voice, perfect live shows, perfect love!!
I found James at the age of 15, come home was rocking the indie world, this band along with a few others like Bap Kennedy gave me a vision of life I could believe, something to search for, 28 years later I’m still got that vision and still searching though it be just a little skeptical 😬 we had so many greats bands in the 80’s and 90’s kinda gutted for today’s youth, regurgitated rubbish is all they got, peace ✌️
Discovered James in 1989 when just 15, now i'm ready to turn 48, happy to say this band helped shape my life, without their input i'd be someone else, thank you James from the bottom of my heart.
Damn! You're the same age of my father :) I'm discovered James this year with 23 years old (now 24yo) from South America, now I love them. I hope find my way in life like you. Cheers sir... and remember smile always to the life ✌🏻😊🇻🇪🇵🇪
There's a storm outside, and the gap between crack and thunder Crack and thunder, is closing in, is closing in The rain floods gutters, and makes a great sound on the concrete On a flat roof, there's a boy leaning against the wall of rain Aerial held high, calling "come on thunder, come on thunder" Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes, I swear I can see your soul Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes, I swear I can see your soul It's a monsoon, and the rain lifts lids off cars Spinning buses like toys, stripping them to chrome Across the bay, the waves are turning into something else Picking up fishing boats and spewing them on the shore
@@williamcooper8024And he crumples, drops into the gutter, cut strings, legs twitching. The flood swells his clothes and delivers him on, delivers him on.
Was my absolute favorite music ever...the words....way ahead of its time...man you guys are some of the best.... oh please never stop....give the world your light. Your talent....love it
One of the most underrated British bands that never made it big in America...this phenomenal song is from the album named Laid, I personally loved the previous album called Seven.....A music video that fits a great song, hard to find....while at the beach I always think of this song. James, keep up with the great music!
Alex Walker Came back from Boogie Boarding at Bodega Bay yesterday, but when I was on the wave, natural pleasure from the wave to remembering this video came to mind. I got a little bit of sunburn though...well worth it ;)
Unbelievable how this band is almost unknown, at least in most of the non English speaking countries. Big Band and lovely songs like this one...absolutely love it.
When I’m sad and down, I watch this video... lifts me up and I smile. Thank you, James. Reminds me of falling in love for the first time in high school..
Bise.
I think this might be my favorite video of all time. I just love watching them play in the ocean. Brings me so much joy! All of us fans in Maui are waiting for you James! Aloha and Mahalo
I absolutely love this band. It almost pains me that they don't have a million subscribers to their channel. Are they one the most underrated bands or what! Thank you James from all your fans!
Their most transcendental song by A MILLION, BILLION, TRILLION miles. Forget bloody Sit Down - this is where your head, heart, mind, body, soul and spirit should be at!
I know quite a lot of people called James all cracking lads but they haven’t ever brought me as much pleasure as this band ,one of the best English bands
One day I spotted that my little boy's eyes were exactly the same colour as his great grandmothers, as she was holding him in her arms. When covid hit and we couldn't see her, I would play this at home and think about that. I sent her a postcard during lock down to tell her about this song and I hope she got someone to play it for her. We would never get to see each other again and I play this on loop when I'm in the car on my own... Sometimes, when I look deep in his eyes, I swear I can see *her* soul. Miss you Nan. x
@PaulClark-s1q She's been delivered on. Jesus, this song just speaks to us and says we all have a chance at something wonderful, something great...I'm in tears -- it's so beautiful.
Old James fan here - seen them maybe 15 times since the late 90s and I've loved and lost a million hearts to the sounds of them but they'll forever remain the greatest act I ever did see live and this will remain (along with Out to Get You) one of the most poignant of their works. Just a downright top notch A1 band and the music will live on and remain timeless in my humblest
Mark my words: some movie will use this in a key scene and the song will chart to the top, 30 years post release. World did not have a chance to appreciate this masterpiece and it’s still fresh as it was in the 90s.

This song inspired me to go on a SOLO travel in the USA and i'm writing a screenplay about it!

Echo and the Bunnymen is the most underrated. But, James is right there.
It only takes three words to describe this song: an absolute catharsis. Love it so much.
James has saved the UK and the whole world with this song. It kept humanity sane. Sometimes.

My wife and I conceived our children listening to James Laid. We where very lucky to see them live for the first time in Melbourne last year. I think it was a Monday night and the place was packed, still loved and remembered. Love to Manchester.
Wow...Incredible story!!!!
And whats his/her name???
James??
Great story!
After listening to over 16 years now my 14 year old son loves this song too. James are Legend.. Beautiful music.
The brilliance of the driving guitars and drums against that narrative of the lyrics… it moves me every time I hear it.
Sometimes, Born of Frustration, and Lullaby are three absolutely brilliant songs by James.
Damn! You're the same age of my father :)
I'm discovered James this year with 23 years old (now 24yo) from South America, now I love them. I hope find my way in life like you.
Cheers sir... and remember smile always to the life ✌🏻😊🇻🇪🇵🇪
@@bavar11an generations connected by James! in 1000 years this song will be rockin our cyborg heads reminding us of our humanity :D
What a tune. Loved James since the first time I saw them - supporting The Smiths at Guildford Civic Hall.. 1985.. Test of Time
There's a storm outside, and the gap between crack and thunder
Crack and thunder, is closing in, is closing in
The rain floods gutters, and makes a great sound on the concrete
On a flat roof, there's a boy leaning against the wall of rain
Aerial held high, calling "come on thunder, come on thunder"
Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes, I swear I can see your soul
Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes, I swear I can see your soul
It's a monsoon, and the rain lifts lids off cars
Spinning buses like toys, stripping them to chrome
Across the bay, the waves are turning into something else
Picking up fishing boats and spewing them on the shore
Thanks for the lyrics
The boys hit! lit up against the sky, like a sign, like a neon sign!......if only I could read neon;-;7
@@williamcooper8024And he crumples, drops into the gutter, cut strings, legs twitching. The flood swells his clothes and delivers him on, delivers him on.
I’m 27 and grew up on these songs threw my parents and I couldn’t be more grateful what a band!!!❤️
Crying with laughter, how far did you throw them and did you ever get them back !!

Was my absolute favorite music ever...the words....way ahead of its time...man you guys are some of the best.... oh please never stop....give the world your light. Your talent....love it
yESSSS
One of the most underrated British bands that never made it big in America...this phenomenal song is from the album named Laid, I personally loved the previous album called Seven.....A music video that fits a great song, hard to find....while at the beach I always think of this song. James, keep up with the great music!
Nathan Scott Like most British bands, they tend to be underrated in America... sometimes that's not a bad thing. ;)
Alex Walker Came back from Boogie Boarding at Bodega Bay yesterday, but when I was on the wave, natural pleasure from the wave to remembering this video came to mind. I got a little bit of sunburn though...well worth it ;)
Nathan Scott
Even in the Netherlands they don't know him , it is a shame. But it doesn't change a bit about how i enjoy the music of james.
Erik Averink Music, the universal language.
Nathan Scott Da +; did they move Manchester again?
Absolutely brilliant video! Can’t wait for concert in Cardiff 😀
Was the first dance song at my wedding. So much love for James
Whenever I'm walking in torrential rain (like yesterday) I sing this song in my head and pretend I'm taking part in the video.
That's me right now in this thunderstorm
Forget bloody Sit Down - this is where your head, heart, mind, body, soul and spirit should be at!
this unlocks another part of the wonder
Used to listen to James, forgot about them, someone I randomly met online reminded me of them, she was a big fan. Thanks
Talk about letting go! This video is pure freedom, i frickin love it !
❤
I'm 19 and i'm proud to say that i find James to be a great, and unfortunately, underrated band.
i wouldnt say they are underated... 1000s at their concerts and done quite well..... really popular in uk
I’m 21 and just found this tune from my parents they are close too 60 now absolute banger love this music
I was 10 when u commented this 😂
Out of blue I remembered this song tonight. I probably heard this song 20 year ago. This chorus came back to my head.
I'm still listening in 2019. This song is absolutely amazing. I really hope people do not forget about this awesome band!
Jesus, this song just speaks to us and says we all have a chance at something wonderful, something great...I'm in tears -- it's so beautiful.
my favourite song of all time and yes i continue to transend somewhere else upon hearing the final chorus.. even after all these years
Timeless Perfection! God I love this!
I seen James few weeks back, awesome concert
Seen them last week
Live … what a band !! Amazing
