Saw a guy comment on this video years ago he caught his friend singing 'if I hadn't heard such Richards I could live with being Paul', best misheard lyric I've ever seen.
Great line. It's why people are risking their lives crossing the Mediterranean and English Channel in tiny dinghies. The age of the Internet has opened the eyes of the poor, even in their remote African and Asian villages, to the illusion of great riches elsewhere. They can no longer live with being poor.
@@bombousboy and it’s why the younger kids are suffering so much poor mental health these days I’m convinced. It’s overwhelming and they see too much too young. @@angiepanjie Totally agree with seeing too much too young. Sadly however, in a world of near instant communication and a video camera readily available to most people, it is sadly inevitable. Not that that justifies illegal immigration, but it also highlights just how out of touch most people have become.
When James played in Toronto, they invited fans to the stage to sit down next to them during this song. Fans started streaming to the stage and joined them there. All were warmly welcomed. People helped each other up and somehow made room for everyone. It was a really beautiful, joyous event.

If this tune is not quite simply one of the times; didnt know just how varied and spoilt for choice we were during the nineties. And I'm not looking back with rose tinted raybans, the era was just so exceptional .
Covid-19 is upon us. I hope it's gone soon. I really do. When it is, this is the song I will play when I'm with all my friends in a group again. 'Sit down next to me...'
December 2020 now, and you brought tears to my eyes with that. I just want to hug my friends. And I've had a reasonable amount of human contact through all this.
As soon as I watched this, I was instantly flooded with the memory of the first time I heard it. I was driving home from school in a crappy old Datsun and when it came on the radio, it seemed like I had known the song for a hundred years.
I remember when I discovered this song watching vh1 mega hits, I was a lonely and weird child and identified with it so much, 15 years later it still moves me, and yes, it's worse than it was before.
I’m only 12 years old however I love James and I can’t imagine my life with them. James is a band that everyone and anyone can listen to. They are great people and there music is always amazing. This song is the reason I smile and James is the reason I love music so much. James is amazing.
I was a student in Aberdeen in 1989 and this was always played at the Student Union Bar. Everyone dropped to the floor when "Sit Down" was sang. Still brings backs very fond memories. I'now 52 (was 20 years old then) and still think it was yesterday. Another was favourite was "Crash" by The Primitives. Lots of songs lost in time by not hearing them.
A 100 percent. This song takes me back to that time each and every time I hear it. Just love the melody, the lyrics and ofcourse the unmistakable voice. A song so uplifting and so heart warming 💓
Its a classic that will be played everywhere for years to come. James were always a solid band ddspite experimenting and it shows. Think the old 90s Manchester days took a lot out of us back then. 😀
I pray we all find the true riches found in Christ. If we do Im sure we all will just sit down and listen to Him. For His yoke is easy and His burden light!
This is actually my favourite song of all time, more so than Lennon's Imagine and so many other great songs. I first heard it around the year 2000 on BBCs radio 1 while driving to work. To me it speaks of compassion in a world devoid of it, even more so now then ever "Those who feel the breath of sadness Sit down next to me Those who find they're touched by madness Sit down next to me Those who find themselves ridiculous Sit down next to me"
I always remember this song with it being played before the UEFA Cup final between ManU and Barcelona in May 1991 at the Feyenoord Stadium . A great day and big win for ManU.
"Those who think they're touched by madness...Those who find themselves ridiculous..In faith " Sit down next to me. I've got a bench, in my "villa" - The neighbours are looking and recording (oh 4 heaven's sake!?)🤯
Whenever I feel down I play this song and Instantly feel better, one of the greatest of all time and such an underrated band, they don't make them like this anymore ❤️

Oh sit down (sit down)
Sit down next to me
Sit down, down (sit down, sit down)
Down, down, down (sit down, sit down)
In sympathy
Oh sit down (sit down)
Oh sit down (sit down, sit down)
Oh sit down (sit down)
Sit down next to me
Sit down, down (sit down, sit down)
Down, down, down (sit down, sit down)
In sympathy
Down
If this tune is not quite simply one of the times; didnt know just how varied and spoilt for choice we were during the nineties. And I'm not looking back with rose tinted raybans, the era was just so exceptional .
30 years onwards, and I still sit down in love, in fear, in hate, in tears. Great song -- modern classic!
Covid-19 is upon us. I hope it's gone soon. I really do. When it is, this is the song I will play when I'm with all my friends in a group again. 'Sit down next to me...'
I feel the same as you.
Couldn't have put it better myself. Take care of yourselves, everyone
I agree, and we will fight Covid19
December 2020 now, and you brought tears to my eyes with that. I just want to hug my friends. And I've had a reasonable amount of human contact through all this.
@@Fragrantbeard 🤗🤗 Hope this helps
Mo Salah... Mo Salah.. Love this song. Brings back memories ❤️
I never get sick of this song, such a great beat and sing along tune.
.kjj
ok
As soon as I watched this, I was instantly flooded with the memory of the first time I heard it. I was driving home from school in a crappy old Datsun and when it came on the radio, it seemed like I had known the song for a hundred years.
Mo Salah, Mo Salah,
Running down the wing,
Salah la, la, la, la, la, la, la,
The Egyptian king...
Wonderful song BTW
I remember when I discovered this song watching vh1 mega hits, I was a lonely and weird child and identified with it so much, 15 years later it still moves me, and yes, it's worse than it was before.
You aint alone sit down next to me much love
I hear you
❤
Funny to be here after listening "sit down" in a Netflix movie...then this amazing song start playing into my head!Greetings from Romania 🇬🇧🇷🇴
what movie?
When you get on to the lyrics and the meaning of them etc it makes this song even better etc etc
Genius song, harmonies, lyrics, Such talent.
The Gallagher brothers can only dream of being this good
I’m only 12 years old however I love James and I can’t imagine my life with them. James is a band that everyone and anyone can listen to. They are great people and there music is always amazing. This song is the reason I smile and James is the reason I love music so much. James is amazing.
The Singing Meme
Good for you ✌️ 🙂 I am 51, i love James too. 🤗
One is as beautiful as the music to which one listens. M.
@@jdjd1816 I was a student at RGU starting in 1989. Lovely to meet you. 😀M.
How am I just finding this. Thank you WYEP 91.3 public radio station in Pittsburgh for playing this💜
One of the most underrated and quality UK bands ever.
This is the one song that reminds me of being a child, when life was easier, people we’re friendlier. The 80s were the best
Definitely!
Wish my alsy was still here to listen xx😢
In terms of extremes of sweet and sour, seeing this live was one of the sweetest moments of my life.
This is a majestic, powerful and beautiful song. Reminds me of all the good times I had in the nineties
The brilliant james bless our ears once again .
I pray we all find the true riches found in Christ. If we do Im sure we all will just sit down and listen to Him. For His yoke is easy and His burden light!
Amen
Revelation 21:3 & 4

Late 80's-90's = Best Music.....still listening now and it's 2017....still love this!!!
"If I hadn't seen such riches
I could live with being poor"
You can't imagine pub brawls when this song's happening. Only smiles and good times.
James was my first ever live gig in 92 at Alton Towers and is still one of the best live bands I've ever seen
Agree saw them in the 90s twice live and absolutely loved them then and now.
ahhhh... the 90's... i wish i was there again!
I was at that gig. Wasted doesnt begin to describe my state but it was and always will be a great night in my memory
Great song, from great times. Oh for a time machine...
One of the best and underrated bands of the 90 s along with the Smiths and the Verve 😘 xxx

Salah lah lah lah
Jesus, the percussions are awesome well-coordinated Ill never stop listening to this beautiful music forever in my heart
This is actually my favourite song of all time, more so than Lennon's Imagine and so many other great songs. I first heard it around the year 2000 on BBCs radio 1 while driving to work. To me it speaks of compassion in a world devoid of it, even more so now then ever
"Those who feel the breath of sadness
Sit down next to me
Those who find they're touched by madness
Sit down next to me
Those who find themselves ridiculous
Sit down next to me"
one of the best bands ever.....
One of my all time favourites of all time
I always remember this song with it being played before the UEFA Cup final between ManU and Barcelona in May 1991 at the Feyenoord Stadium . A great day and big win for ManU.
How blessed were we music like this and the ra ve scene aswell, great time to be alive
I've seen James play live twice. They are absolutely brilliant
Same here with me Twice and they were fantastic ❤❤
Same here with me bro (twice) Belter gigs and with growing up with them they meant so much more to me
James . Sit Down. Great Song .
Omg so many amazing memories this is up there with the best!
