The wrecker needs low D-rings welded on the back for low angle pulls rather then the axle maybe? If not for low angle use, double line pull anchors. Good job guys and gals. ✌️🇨🇦
I was going to say something similar. Weld a couple tabs on the back axle that you can put metal shackles in to redirect the winch line lower with a soft shackle and a ring.

9:16 - It's unfortunate the crew got distracted by a Dodge and never rescued the Mercedes van. Some say the Merc is still out there waiting for rescue.
Good job guys. After 32 years of heavy duty recovery experience, may I make one suggestion? I like the approach on the sprinter van. However I would have made one change. I learned from a towing icon, Tom Luciano, to go after what is stuck. So, if you had attached your soft shackle to the passenger side lower control arm… you would have gained more lift out of the ditch since that was the low side wheel (what’s stuck) it would also stabilized the van as it came out reducing the tipping effect. I completely understand that it would have been more difficult to connect to. But the extra 30 “ of mechanical advantage would have made the job easier. Bottom line. You got it done with no damages or injuries. So good job guys. Love the channel
I commend you for how you wrote your suggestion--polite, clear, and humble. Too many on youtube feel they need to be condescending to make themselves feel superior. You started with a compliment, gave the suggestion, and closed with a compliment. That's also a good way to correct and teach children. Well done!

That was about the angle of my Sprinter van when I worked for Fedex...Rural route, 10+ hour day, last stop, 4mil uphill gravel road, THANK GOD I was following a trailer. Went around a pothole and the "NEW" gravel they just laid, slid away 2ft from the edge and I was stuck at a 45 degree angle. Forward was worse angle and 2ft of water in a ditch, back was a tree I'd probably slide off worse into. Dude in front noticed my lights weren't behind him anymore, came back and hooked his chain to my rear steal bumper, pulled me out backwards, perfect, company never knew.
Good Job, Rhett. Next time pull the spark plugs out and cover the the region with rags. Crank it a couple of times to blow oil out of the hole. Then reinsert the plugs. Fire her up.

Matt you must be terribly proud of your Sons. It’s such an inspiration to see how much they are maturing. They’ve obviously learned it all from you and Jamie.
Would have had an easier time with the SXS if you had run a strap from the front axle and the rear axle and connected them so the winch could pull evenly. A low snactch block on the wrecher would have kept the winch line low and the front wheel would not have lifted. You guys did well for the tools and experience that you have, it just takes experience to learn more. Keep it up!
Matt, have you ever considered angled, spiked, hydraulic legs on the back of the wrecker ( like you see on "commercial" wreckers)? Granted extra weight, and something else to break, but may offer good additional stopping power on steep or slippery terrain, and with an eye welded on the foot you could rig a low line at virtually ground level. Love the work, keep it up!
Great job on the recoveries!! All of you are doing an excellent job!! Kaulin, Rhett, Katelynn and Jefe are great people and do an amazing job. The "kids" are learning well!!!
Those dunes are no joke. I was out there in June and before I came I went over On X maps, and Google maps dozens of times. It doesn't look the same when you're actually out in it. I was unlucky enough to go out the morning after a sandstorm, and I had no tracks to follow. Then the GPS in the UTV froze up on the south side of Top of the World. Thankfully, I've got a good sense of direction and knew from the position of the sun which way to go. I had to explain to my wife and kids that just because I don't know exactly where I am, doesn't mean I'm lost!
The good thing about the whole "Van Life" movement is that it's created lots of work for towing and recovery companies. Way too many people who have no business driving bigger, heavier vehicles. Most don't have enough sense to know where they can and cannot drive them.
You say that like people aren't getting regular vehicles stuck or sliding off the road in regular vehicles. If anything, the same people who would be driving a large RV and getting that stuck are now moving towards smaller vans, which are at least usually easier to recover.
You sure that van was AWD? I believe a lot of those are FWD. Same thing as a lot of amazon vans. The fwd transmission doesnt hold up and there dozens of them at dealerships all over the country waiting for transmissions😂 over a year backordered because there are ao many
That's a Ram Promaster, AWD is not an option. So there's no possible way, FWD only. He did refer to it as a Sprinter at one point, Sprinters (and Transits) can have AWD and if they don't are RWD..

In my opinion, it was pretty wrong to do the first recovery points on the cage also around the body... it causes more damages and you've got no flip effect. Very greenhorny without any thoughts about physics, Matt has to teach them a little bit deeper into stuff like that 🤠
I like how Jefe does not give a crap about his missing tooth. We should all be that way instead so worried about what people think. When the cylinder fills with oil from being turned over you need to be careful, you dont want to bend anything internal, wouldnt be a bad idea to carry a plug wrench so you can take them out, then hit the starter.
On my 2018 Transit 250 there is a 3/4 hole in the plastic near the bottom of the bumper right in the middle. It leads through a relatively solid piece of bumper frame also a hole which has a reinforcement layer on the forward edge.. I have a long 3/8 lift hook that fits in there. I have had a few people snatch me out and it has not bent. I believe the opening was designed for a axle hook to be inserted from the bottom or something like that but there is no mention of this in the manual.
Absolutely right about a low power machine not making it up the dune. My 570 couldn’t make it up to the top of that dune. I had to get pulled over the top. :(
here is a crazy idea for those low low cars/trucks. could one be able to weld a mount point on your tow vehicles axels for snatch blocks or points to have a sable hook up? you know a shackle or loop or like D ring type thing but facing the back on the rear and front in the front? so one isn't wrapped around the axel and when not needed it would be out of the way but when needed would be ready to go for a lower point for the leverage? just me thinking like a never been off road so unsure it would work but in my head would do the trick right?

The term "Peanut Gallery" originated in the 1880's and early 1900's from vaudeville shows. The cheapest seats at such shows were in the back, and the occupiers of such seats were usually more rowdy and prone to throwing their concession snacks at performers if they were displeased. The most common concession snack that made the best projectile? Unshelled peanuts. Hence the term "Peanut Gallery" was born. When vaudeville shows went away, the term was reborn by it's usage on The Howdy Doody Show as a label for a section of audience of younger children. The more you know...

When vaudeville shows went away, the term was reborn by it's usage on The Howdy Doody Show as a label for a section of audience of younger children. The more you know...
Glad to see that Kaitlyn has fit in so well with the team.
I'm gonna need some more video of the Landcruiser Matt. 🚀
I though for sure that Van was toppling over. Nice work
Great to see Jefe pop in!
Too bad Matt hasn’t yet taught the boys how to rig a bridal. That recovery on the Can Am demanded two attachment points front and rear.
I think dragging it away from the rocks a little before rolling it would ha been less damaging.
they are learning at least.
too bad … “bridle”
Rhett is about 16, im guessing and Kaulin is about 18 so they are still learning
@@jimsmith9819 - remember Matt didn't winch - offroad, not too many years ago...
Most can learn some rigging and rescue techniques in a weekend of training, improving doesn't take "years" to make a start. (the boys are older than you reckon - they used to be those ages.)
You DO have an accent. It’s American. And thats something to be proud of.
Not right now. This country is an embarrassment to the world. Going backwards when the world is moving forward.
@ Naw man. This is a good place. With genuine, good people.
Hi Jefe 🙂 Good to see you 🙂
