DO THIS To Create EFFORTLESS Speed In Your Swing

  • Does speed really ever feel effortless?? If done correctly it can and this is the feedback I have received from hundreds of golfers who have made this change and added distance to their golf game.
    A poor move through the ball can make the golf swing feel like a struggle and lots of effort for no real distance, if that sounds like you this is the video you need to watch.
    Do this to create effortless speed in your golf swing, and its surprising how little speed you actually need in your golf swing to create the distance that can make the game easier and more fun

    This is quite eye opening. As someone who's never taken a golf swing lesson, it does make perfect physics sense that the speed of the inside arc is not equal to the speed of the outside arc to travel the same distance. I think I've always tried to keep my hands fast assuming I need that to develop club head speed. Thank you.

    I think this is THE lesson I needed to watch. Been trying for weeks to speed up my ball speed on drives above 150 and seem to have hit a brick wall. Also my swing feels more like a forced swipe and not the schwing I want. Will be trying this at the range next time. Thanks for this 👍🏻👍🏻

    Great video, Chris thank you. I’ve been watching quite a few videos on increasing hand speed and some of them make absolutely no sense. (Coach lockey flicking a towel?) The way you explained it is a keeper for me. There are a couple of times when I have hit driver and I feel as if I’m whipping through just using my fingers when I get so much more distance without any additional strength needed. So I’ve probably been increasing my hand speed through the ball without knowing the technique.

    As far as hand speed, I knew in the 20’s mph- AMG has some great videos on this, including when you want your max hand speed- the earlier the better, it should be slowing down by impact, transferring that speed/energy to the club. Great video here too- good to see the same principles just communicated differently.

    What is the Dandy device?
    My arms straighten after impact but the clubhead doesn’t turn and close, so I gain the advantage only of the head catching up but not passing my hands. Part of this may be because my torso hangs back and doesn’t get pulled up and around. Been a stubborn killer of clubhead speed for years.

  • @johncarlisle1664
    @johncarlisle1664 2 місяці тому

    I learn a lot from your videos, Chris, although your statement that hand & club head have the same speed with a rigid wrist is incorrect: the club head travels about twice as fast as the hand because it travels through an arc on a radius about twice as long as the radius of the hand (arc centre left shoulder joint).

    Great explanation, so many people don't get that. Also, the hands need to DECELERATE to get the energy into the club head. The hands are reaching that peak 23mph around the right hip and then slowing down through impact and after, though it doesn't FEEL like they are.

    • @PXGProto

      I’d say rotation of the body, the clearing up and away of the left hip. And keeping a good angle between the lead arm and the body/shoulders- not collapsed against the body. You should flip the club, just after impact. With a good release (not excessive club face rotation) the ball should go pretty straight. Just trying to help. Ever watch AMG? I like Chris, but those guys are the best.

    @2:22 Well..., no. The 'angular' velocity of the hands and club head are the same if they are kept aligned in a pendulum motion but the actual velocity of the club head is about double.
    v = ω × r
    v = velocity, ω omega is angular velocity, r = radius i.e. the distance from the axis (the shoulder).
    Doubling the radius will double the velocity.
    In the chicken wing effect from P7 to P8 @2:42 both club head and hands are traveling at similar velocities.

    to be anatomically precise you need external rotation in the lead shoulder through impact. otherwise you will not be able to 1) multiply hand speed in the club head nor 2) maintain a steady radius of the swing because chicken wing will shorten it. slow club head speed with fats and thins all day. external shoulder rotation is so often overlooked. you also need it in the back swing otherwise the clubhead at the top will be in front of you rather than behind you leading to slicing swings. this anatomical move is overlooked because it is extremely unnatural and uncomfortable--but it is necessary. repeat after me: external shoulder rotation.

    The speed of your hands is V1=W1xR1, then in the club head is V2= W1x(R1+R2) + W2xR2. (Omitting body displacement)
    Meaning:
    V1= speed of hands
    V2= speed of the head club
    R1= length of your arm
    R2= length of the club
    W1= angular velocity of your arm
    W2= angular velocity of your hands
    Thus, V1 and V2 are always different. (Sorry)
    So, the key lays on the angular velocities, those are what I’d like to be measured.

    You are wrong about hands and club head moving at same speed in the example with stiff wrists (2:19 in video). The club head is moving a much longer distance than the hands in the same period of time, therefore is traveling much faster. Simple. It’s the same reason you get more club speed when gripping the end of the club vs choking down. The pendulum is longer, must travel a longer distance in the same period of time.

    This seems different to your other video 'HOW TO RELEASE THE GOLF CLUB'. So have you revised your opinion 4 years later? From 2:15-2:25 shouldn't you be saying angular velocity is the same for ' hand/arm/clubhead' rather than linear speed?

      Hey Jack, that original vid was a few years back now, but if I recall that and this are covering different topics. This was more geared towards the lead arm and how it folds/rotates post impact whilst that other video was discussing the release through until just post impact, so I believe they could compliment each other well.
      Yep agreed terminology wasn’t accurate in this video, but was just trying illustrate a point as clearly as I could, agree not 100% accurate though in terms of terminology 👍

    • @jackflash8756
      @jackflash8756 Рік тому

      Hi Chris - so are you suggesting that just post impact (maybe clubhead moved 7 inches approx after impact) the shaft must not bypass the lead arm (meaning the angular velocity of the lead arm and club are virtually the same) , and then the lead forearm/wrist must naturally supinate and lead arm fold (as per this video)?

    • @ChrisRyanGolf

    Saying that the speed at the middle of the radius of the arch (hand) and the end of it (club head) is pretty much the same speed, is just showing very little knowledge about how things really work, (and how the distance increases speed )
