  • Posted in memory of our friend & lead singer Wilbur Strut (Bill Hoyle) 1950-2012.
A great singer for a few rock bands from the Toledo, Ohio area in the late 70's and 80's. I worked with him as the sound engineer for about 2 years in one of his early bands Zardoz. Our claim to fame at the time was a Led Zeppelin medley of songs that Wilbur was just smoking hot at singing. He truly had Robert Plant down like no one else. We used to pack the clubs in Toledo and Michigan with that medley.
A very fond memory, that has been with me all my life.
He will be missed by all that knew him.
God Bless and rest with Him now my friend.
All are welcome to post comments about your memories or friendship with him

Shoulda, coulda, woulda been a nationwide hit. My favorite record from a Toledo Band (Jimi from Lima) Ohio. Music, melody, chord structure, music movement and modulation ... can't say enough. Recording engineering and production. The perfect pop single. Shame this one didn't get the airplay it deserves. Better than anything anybody from Toledo and surrounding area ever released, including me.

Loved watching them play in Toledo. Bernadeane is still one of the best songs they ever did. I had a friend who worked with a gal who dated Jimmy, one of the band members.

They played at our night club (Scarlet Rose) in Van Wert, OH, 1986. They always packed the house.

So sad to hear of this loss. This was a great band. I saw them in 1984 at the Bedford cinema in Lambertville Michigan. My very first date! Great memories!

I videotaped at Beechwood Studios while they were cutting this song. It was for a feature we produced for Toledo Beat on MTV back in the 80's. Michael Stanley was in the studio, as well, when we were there. Always liked this song.

Wow - found this cassette in a box of old stuff, but no longer have a cassette player. Glad to find this great track from the best Toledo band from the 1980s - awesome. And this should have been a big hit - it was as good as anything on the radio that summer. Thanks for posting it!

Brings back great memories. I saw Shyster in Toledo and Sylvania several times in the mid eighties. Awesome group. I thought for sure that Bernadeane would end up in the TOP 40....I still own the cassette (rarely listen to it). But it's great to see the video, anyone know where it was filmed?

Great band. I remember them. Chuck stoll and the guys were very professional. They too, deserved a little more exposure. I'm very familiar with the guys in the tole do area.
