    I wear my Pelagos everyday as a stonemason, it's a tank. Heavily water and dust resistant. My wrist expands throughout the day and the clasps springs expand and detract with it. The bezel is amazing as a quick timer and the titanium is so light and scratch resistant, this isn't a dress watch or even a sports watch it's an amazing tool watch I'll keep it forever and pass it down to my son when he takes over the company

      Cool Story, but titan is more scratchy than steel, actually.. and it is also not even grade 5 titan(

      I’m a stonemason too, just ordered a lhd but there’s no way I’ll ne wearing it for work.. I do use £50 notes as tingles though lol😂

    I bought this watch 4 months ago. There has been one day when I didn't wear it and my wrist hated me that whole day. Great watch.

      How does the titanium case hold up? Only heard forum scare stories by those who don't own one...
      Got a BB GMT and want a diver. BB41 is cool but considering going full dive mode with the Pelagos.

    • @chuckratcliff
      @chuckratcliff 3 роки тому +6

      @@King_Harrold I own both the Pelagos LHD and the Black Bay GMT. Unless you are going saturation diving the Black Bay GMT would still work because the Black Bay is a dive watch. For deeper dives the Pelagos is Tudor's answer to the Rolex Sea Dweller, with the helium escape valve. I feel like Jacques Cousteau would wear this if he were alive today. I wear both of these watches regularly. The titanium is such a wearable and practicle material- its light, strong, and its like stainless steel with a sun tan.

    As a lhd owner, when u look at it, the text combine with the six clock marker resemblance snowflake hour hand, the 2 liner dial look very plain

  • @BobBoyd1
    @BobBoyd1 7 років тому +19

    Good review. Having "Rotor Self-Winding" on the dial is historically correct for Tudor. (Also one of the most elegant touches to the ETA-based Black Bays.) I agree the red text helps break it up.

    Wearing my Pelagos LHD right meow as I watch this video, and I couldn't be happier with my choice! Fantastic looking watch, great in house movement, and being left hand drive as well as titanium it is quite unique, thus a great addition to my collection.

  • @RobS____

    Reviewer mentioned the bottom line of text is too close to the 6 o'clock hour marker. I believe this is intentional so the 5 lines of text and 6 o'clock hour marker closely resemble the snowflake hour hand.

    • @AbstractMan23
      @AbstractMan23 5 років тому +3

      Robert Shapiro that’s a good observation, and I’ve often thought of the resemblance to the snowflake . Subtle and clever if that was their intention!

    Absolutely hit it out of the park with the 5-line and red. Albeit, I will admit a 4-liner would have been better. It's a modern Red Submariner 1680 without being an obvious homage. This is much more organic. Your "missteps" are my homeruns, exactly what got me to look at the Pelagos LHD wherein the basic line I barely noticed. The LHD is "spot on", for me. I'm not right, and you're not wrong. We just like different things. Being most likely twice your age and having seen Red Submariners in the wild as a child, this watch ticks all the boxes.

    I've had this Pelagos in ti for about five weeks but started wearing it regularly about two weeks ago. The more I wear it, the more I like it. I'm not talking about left hand drive either. I love the weight and size of the watch. Millimeters as many reviewers have pointed out over the years are over rated. The weight doesn't feel overly heavy or light. It has enough mass to express the value that is in this watch. Yet, it is light enough not to wear me out. I have some kind of thin wrist which I haven't measured as of yet. I own a variety of watches including the Grand Seiko-Snowflake, a Rolex (Batman), a Tag H. and a number of Quartz, auto and wind up watches. I hadn't known that there is a limited edition or something like that. As to the date balance: I like the date window of the Pelagos in the new style. I can do without the red lettering on the face. I do not like any red on the date; don't need it. Love the flat black bezel, ceramic. The 70 hour power reserve has come in handy already. While my other main auutomatic ran out of reserve and will require a date advancement of a day, I have not run into this problem with the Pelagos. I suppose if the spacing from the six o'clock marker was the same as the shield from the triangle marker, the balance would make more sense. The 42 mm or whatever it is seems perfect for me and the legibility of the watch face is totally amazing. When I wear this watch, the general public has no idea of what it is. It makes it easier for me to wear this watch. My standard RHD does not dig into my wrist at all. I love the adjustibility of the bracelet and its expansion. No one has remarked about the break-in of the springs on the auto adjust. I'm still not sure about the number of links I need in the band. I may well put another half link back in to lengthen the band so that the spring loaded clasp doesn't have to do so much work and I won't continue to have an impression on my wrist. I think also, that the springs could have a little less pressure and that would make the watch more comfortable; however that would have to be very carefully adjusted. Once I get the adjustment on my wrist perfect, I see myself almost never taking this watch off. It checks every box on my list. I don't care about the Black Bay. I even prefer the name of the watch: Pelagos. The numbering is interesting. but with a Q letter and huge numbers, numbering doesn't make the watch all that valuable. With lettering and six numbers, one can have up to 99 million watches released all the way up to one number short of a hundred million. So what is the point of numbering? Well, as long as one records the number, if it is ever stolen, at least the police pawn shop detail and the watch community can post the lost watch with its serial number. AF

    You don't know WHY there's an alternating black/red Roulette date wheel?
    You sound young. When you get older, the date indicator starts to get difficult to read. Having odd numbers in black and even numbers in red is a great visual clue if the number's looking a bit blurry to you. Solves the problem of a 2 looking like a 3 or a 5 looking like a 6 or an 8 looking like a 9!

    Outstanding watch review, especially the contrast bw the Back Bay and Pelagos LHD. All those "quirky" elements you highlighted make this far more compelling and interesting than the usual Tudor. Making me think, "I need one of those." Nicely done....

  • @AbstractMan23
    @AbstractMan23 5 років тому +3

    12:12 totally agree and I can’t unsee it: the text is so close to the 6 o’clock marker. Why did they do that!? It’s always bothered me. All they needed to do was match the distance with the line spacing and it would have been perfect.
    Also, I’ve always thought GENEVE was too big and off balance with the TUDOR text...

    •  5 років тому

      1 year ago...
      Today: it's not a limited numbered edition, but it's supposed to be a short run. Basically they haven't set an exact number, but it's not supposed to be a fixture like the BB or standard Pelagos and presumably they aren't producing as many (LHD) in scale to the aforementioned, clearly a lefty watch isn't going to endear itself to the average consumer.
      It will mean something when they finally cut it off.

      There are a few methods to maintaining the titanium case, from what I've seen a rubber eraser makes the case look like new given that we're talking the standard titanium shallow scratch and oxidization mix.

    Don't understand your statement "Pelagos" being there. Does the Submariner have "Submariner" on the dial? Does the Daytona have "Daytona" on the dial? Does the Yacht Master have "Yacht Master" on the dial? Seems to be a trend; yet you don't ask why those have the name on the dial. Since "we already know what watch it is"

    Great watch but, grade 2 titanium for 4K ..?? The Seiko Shogun for example is made out of grade 5 titanium. Just sayin'. I will add a piece of text about this subject "I was made to understand that the titanium used by Tudor is deemed as a Grade 2 Ti, instead of the higher performance Grade 5 Ti. Grade 2 Ti is purer in the sense that it doesn't have aluminium and vanadium added to make it into a Grade 5 Ti. Unfortunately, it is inferior to the Grade 5 Ti as it doesn't comply to high stresses as required for aviation applications. Generally, Grade 5 Ti is about three times stronger than Grade 2 Ti. Of course there are other properties where Ti has advantages over stainless steel, especially in density or weight. In that sense, Grade 2 Ti is also softer, hence being less scratch resistance than Grade 5 Ti and normal stainless steel"

    • @powerplay.556
      @powerplay.556 5 років тому +2

      You've made the same comment on every Pelagos video. You honestly must think it makes you sound intelligent. You must have five Patek's in the collection with that amazingly classy taste you have for 40mm watches. Or perhaps you can't think for yourself and you're a slave to tradition and what others tell you.

  • @RobS____
    @RobS____ 6 років тому +1

    I never understood why right-handed people would wear this or any destro watch on their left wrist. "On larger watches It gets rid of the dig"? So you just prefer the crown digging back into your forearm instead of the back of your hand? If a watch crown is digging into you, you're wearing your watch way too tight.

    • @wornandwound
      @wornandwound  6 років тому +11

      The crown wouldn't dig into your forearm because you cannot bend your forearm the way you can your wrist.

    • @RobS____
      @RobS____ 6 років тому +1

      wornandwound You cannot bend your forearm the way you can your wrist? Wow. Thanks for the condescending remark, Captain Obvious. Try holding your arm out in front of you or down at your side with a watch on. Bend your wrist back. The action of bending your wrist back clearly pushes the back of the watch case into your forearm. If you wear your watch with the crown on the forearm side, the crown will dig into your forearm when you bend your wrist back. Try putting your hand on a flat surface and bend your wrist back. You will feel the watch digging into your forearm more than the back of your hand.

    • @wornandwound
      @wornandwound  6 років тому +10

      It wasn't meant to be condescending. Have worn a handful of destro watches and not once have I had any issue with the crown pressing into my forearm. That's the general the consensus from a lot of people who love destro watches. Your experience may be different.

      That was the reason to buy the LHD for me! See for example the SINN EZM 3 OR 13. For tactical purposes, the crown has to he on the left side. I don't understand why people want to wear the watches having the crown in the direction on the hand? Do you change date/time or wind your watch still having on the wrist?
