- Detailed explanation of how wahl clipper guards work. we talk about the different measurements of the guards and how they are used together in order to cut hair.
I’ve been using UA-cam since it’s creation and never felt the need to comment until now. This is the best explanation I’ve come across hands down. I was always a little confused about the wahl guards and now I feel like an idiot. Thanks for taking the time to clear things up for us.
Mike Green Thank you brother! That means a lot and I'm glad you were able to understand it.
Mike Green now I stand by this comment he explains it with detail. Gosh this guy is good, just when you think you wouldn’t understand it he comes this guy explains it for he “barber dummies.
@@acebarber8891 great explination you really helped me when you said .5 half way open is 3/4
I felt the same way!
Great explanation!
Best guard tutorial on youtube! I learned how to fade myself by replaying the video over and over while cutting my hair. The explanation between the half guard (1/16th of an inch) and the #2 (1/4th of an inch) is extremely helpful.
You've made the best tutorial on guards on UA-cam. No doubt.
Thanks brother! I appreciate it!
U have the best video on UA-cam to explain the guards and how to fade. I finally understand what I have been doing wrong with my boys’ home hair cuts! Thank you!
I couldn't have dreamed of any better detailed video for a start . Massive!! thank you Sir. God bless your hustle .Peace !
I have to say I’ve been watching UA-cam tutorials for sometime now. I have to say hands down this video not only explains the Wahl Guards system for beginners to the “T” but in my opinion the best tutorial video I have come across on UA-cam so far! 👏 nice work
Just want you to know that this helped me out a lot. Just ordered my first set of clippers and I can’t wait to fuck up my hair.
Same can't wait to fuck up my hairline
@@slimjimmy9645 lol we in this shxt together
LOL….show us s pic 😝
The explanation and detail of the guards is completely hands down the best tutorial video ever honestly barbering is a side job to me for now until I’m better at it but this really help man thanks
Thank you so much! I’m coming from the Andis Masters to Wahl 5* Seniors. They came with a 1 1/2 guard. I use my zero guard which is a half guard in these, but the 1 1/2 threw my brain in a frenzy. I was like waaaaaait huh? You explained it so well! Thank you so much! 🙏🏽 just ordered a 10 piece premium guard set for them!
Thank you for explaining this in clear, plain English. I was really struggling with this and all the other videos never took the time to fully explain it or they were really vague about it.
I think this is the best tutorial on Clipper Guards here on UA-cam, thanks for the detailed explanation 😎.
It cleared my Doubts about Blades and guards and its adjustments.
2 years and still helping out, made my fades cleaner understanding this concept. Good looking out🤙🏽
do you know why some clippers don't come with 1 1/2 or 1/2 guard????
@@joshhoward8558 different clippers have different systems you're probably using andis or oster
Awesome video. You are the first person I found that makes this easy to understand. I have wondered about this for quite awhile and could never find the answer. Thank you so much. I hope you have a great day!
One of my favorite things in life is listening to someone who really knows what they are talking about. This was up there
Thank You So Much for making this video... I was struggling trying to find out how to use the wahl guard system .... this video right here just clicked & made sense.... thank you Brutha
No problem brother!... Thanks!
I finally understand the relation between the guards and the blade. So well explained.
Now that's what I Call Quality Content!
Thanks for the In-depth explanation Ace👌🔥💯
Thanks, all the other videos don't talk about the guards! The way you explain the lever makes it easy to understand.
Great video brother, I was trying to visualize the usage of these guards and now seeing it on paper and your explanation makes it clear. Thanks again for the great post!
Just wow..you repeated things to make sure we get it right and we get everything correct..you were not in a hurry but there to teach..and you did a fantastic job..i have made notes and now it is much clear..thank you so much for your efforts
Edit-wahl company should use this video to teach
Great video!
I've always liked only using the #1,2,3,4 and doing the rest with my clippers.
This has me rethinking it. Without the 1/16 guard theres a gap!
yes and without 1,5, if you don't use them they don't blend
Couldn't have explained it any better, good going man!
Thank you brother!
Thanks for posting this informative video. You explained the difference between the guards in an easy to understand method. Much appreciated.
Thank you for conveying your tutorial in a way any of us can easily understand, I found this very useful. Im Going to practice opening the lever at the desire angle to properly use the 1/2 guards and not have to be switching them all the time when I fade
Great video, very clear and easy to follow - appreciate all the detail.
Best explaination by far for wahl. Easy and concise. Thanks a lot.
Great explanation. A little confusing reading it. But I just played with my clips while your explaining it. Fully understand it now. Thanks. I need some nappy heads to cut now.
One of the best videos ever explaining how the Wahl guard system works! Amazing job. And I ain’t the type to really be commenting lol.
Aye man this video actually got my haircuts to the next level🙏🙏🙏i still got a long way to go but thanks for taking the time to help the young barbers out there
do you know why some clippers don't come with 1 1/2 or 1/2 guard????
@@joshhoward8558 i noticed my old amazon wahl clippers didnt have them, but my wahl seniors did. I think they dont put them in some of the cheaper ones. I ended up buying some from a sallys supply store and they worked well. One thing to remember is that the 1.5 doesnt always fit right tho
So easy to understand!!! I love it @acebarber! Keep it up!
Thank you for this. It took over one month for the gouge to grow back. Now I understand.
After browsing 20+ videos trying to understand guards, this is hands down the best. Thanks, man.
Best explanation on UA-cam hands down thanks 🙏🏽
Best guard explanation video on UA-cam
Thank you for taking the time to do this it's much appreciated. good man!
Great Explanation! Also a great guide showing the difference in guards compared to amount of hair it removes.
This is hands down the best video, this page is underrated!!
Very well explained thank you… this is the best video I’ve seen explains the walhl guard system.
Very well done. The best explanation I have seen.
Best Guard explanation ever. You rock dude.
Hands down the most helpful video ! God bless u
Ivan tho I have a pretty good understanding of these guards, you helped clear it up even more.
My one complaint and idea that I have, is that sometimes i wish I could have my #1 & #2 guards to have shorter combs like the half guard! To me, that'd help me on bland and fades
Good explanation. After watching a few videos, I think I got it down now. What I get from this is that you want to first make the line in the hair so as to make it straight. Then you go back a half a step shorter (or between the 2 cuts that make the line) and blend out the line. Being careful not to screw up.
A thousand thank-you's for the explanation, hopefully i can put this into practice when i attempt to fade my sons hair yet again.
Great explanation! Really clear and amazing breakdown. Thank you!
This really helped me with my blends. Thanks, Bro!! 👊
do you know why some clippers don't come with 1 1/2 or 1/2 guard????
Best explanation ever, no doubt. Deserve more views n' subscribers for sure.
Yes best description video of the guard system that I needed to cut my sons hair thank you!
Thank you very much for this detailed video.
Good explanation, one thing I found out as well is that the Wahl guards come in 2 different widths as well.
The cheaper 'home cutting' clippers have a narrower blade compared to the 'professional' clippers.
The narrow guards for these will not fit on the 'professional' clippers with the wider blade, but the wide guards fit OK on the narrower 'home' clippers, as I found out myself lately when upgrading to a Magic clip cordless from some cheap £10 'Homecut' Wahl clippers.
Love your explanation. Very detailed indeed.
Great tutorial bro the best explanation here on UA-cam thanks
Great video! Well done. Clean and easy to understand. Thank you.
Very well explained..godbless
Thanks for confirming my thoughts. Great explanation 💯
What a video man. Best tutorial on UA-cam
Thanks allot it was very helpful been looking for an explanation like this for a while 😊
Fantastic explanation of the impact of the Lever adjustment on the comb and cut length. thank you. now i'm clear if i want a 3mm cut, it's comb 1 on lever closed (0). if i want a 4.5mm cut it's comb 1 and lever full open!
Great explanation brother, thank you!
Out of the nonses videos I seen urs answers all my questions thank you
Great video well explained, thanks 🙇♂️💈🎯

THANKS A MILLION FOR THE INFORMATION THAT WAS SUPER HELPFUL
I’m used to Andis guards i cut my own hair i just got some WAHL cordless seniors n my fade wasn’t coming out right n now i know y thank u🙏🏾
My cheap hair clipper only has these four guards; thanks for uploading this. Now I have a better idea how to use them ;-)
when you say 0, is your clipper 0 gapped? not visible in video?
why tf does that matter
It means there’s no guard and it’s closed
@@Relax_Rombey stop being a lame bro he’s asking a question
@@Mrgetemhitup it doesn’t make any sense and it’s also not relevant the guy also isn’t gonna reply
Zero is host completely closed
Thanks it's just what I was looking for
Very well explained, thanks man
So you covered very well how the lever works. What is the way you actually do the fade? If you start from the top and do a 7 all over, then you want to start going down in grades around the back and sides, should you start with it in the closed position and open it up when you fade? Or should you open it up first and then close it to fade? This is not clear to me.
fantastic Guide for guards
You outdid yourself. Thanks man
I seem to know a lot more after this video but sure I could not pass the written test yet! LOL. Great video good job!
Thanks this was very helpful😊

Best video ever!!!, God bless
Hey bro, thank you for your teaching, I have a question, may I use the wahl premium guards with any wahl clippers?. Blessings...
Yes, you should be able to use them with any Wahl clipper
Thanks from Venezuela...
just bought Andis clippers at $48 and cut my own hair watching videos . Not bad then took shower and saw it a lil thicker on one side than the other and went over it again . Pretty good now . Cut it a lil longer at a 3 when I went to barber had him cut it to a 2 . But was verry happy I cut it . It was driving me nuts .
You made this really easy to understand lol thanks
I agree! The best one on UA-cam!
Thanks dude extremely helpfull
Great job bro
The best fucking video on explaining the guards ‼️‼️this video helps me understand more easily and what to use if I don’t have the half guard
Thanks this was helpful.I should have a new whal in the mail by tomorrow. Given the current situation I can't have my 92 year old dad with dementia going to the barber (still not open) and he keeps demanding a haircut. Hopefully I don't mess this up too badly.
Great explanation, so in order to eliminate that lines, is always using the lever in half position?? Thanks
That’s what I’m kinda tryna figure out too . The lever open is basically half way so I would usually just use a guard that’s equivalent to half so to blend from 1 to 2 I would use 1 1/2 and play with the lever a bit. Open cut less Close cuts more so I would start with lever open then slowly close till lines goes away. That half guard between the number will probably do the job of getting rid of line tho if not u would most likely just have to play with lever
Thank you for the education!!!!
I use Oster guards 000 to 3 1/2.. is that good enough to do a good fade? I'm not a barber I'm a hairdresser. When I use the triple zero I get really nervous about not getting the lines out
