This is the most beginner friendly tutorial for your classic gents cut, and covers all your essential techniques beginner barbers will learn and apply in barber school. I've started out doing cuts in schools and am doing these kinds of cuts mostly, so this video was really helpful. Your method is pretty much identical to how I am being taught too!
this 15 minute video helps allot for new beginner barbers. you'll learn this in school in 4-5 weeks time and this man pumps it clear in a 15 minute video! props!
Wow I wanna go to your school. We’ve used our clippers once & now they expect me to cut an actual persons hair this morning… luckily it’s my dad & he has to love me either way….
I did a men's haircut for the first time - on my husband from very long to short hair and....it wasn't a fail 😃. I am so happy for your tutorial. Thank you👍
I want to say, “Thank you so much!!!!” My husband was getting a haircut every 6 weeks and thought maybe we can save some money and have you (me 😮) try to cut his hair. I watched your video this morning and dove right into its with some guidance from my hubby and your amazing tutorial about the guide, I did it!!! He looks really good!!! He and I were nervous when I busted out the scissors but it worked!!! Thank you so much for this beginners video. You rock!!! 🎉
Thank you. You are the best. When covid started and all of the shops closed I discovered your channel, bought a $60 clipper and have not been to a barber since. Who knew cutting hair could be so easy, thanks to a great teacher. After several years my wife asked me to cut her hair. She said it was better than some of the pros that she had paid big bucks. They tended to always cut it shorter than she had requested. I also convinced her to let her beautiful silver hair to go natural.
I’ve been cutting my kids hair for the last 18 years, I have 3 boys and a girl. I’m pretty good now, but this would have saved me so much time in the early days! It was also so enjoyable to listen you your voice, love your accent!
I have been a stylist for over 30 years. I have paid for classes that were less thorough than this. To make cutting the nape easier, I ask my client to uncross their legs, push their butt to the back of the chair and bring their chin to their chest. I’m trying to get an easier fade mastered so I have more of your videos to watch. Thank you.
I did hairdressing when I was 17 but I left before qualifying. I have two boys, 14 and 16 and they have high functioning autism and won’t go to the hairdressers and so I have to cut their hair. I have the basics but have never felt confident doing their hair. My 16 year old goes to college next month and I knew I had to get some tips and watched one of your videos last week. I did both of their hair and not only was it the quickest I’d done them but they were the best haircuts I’ve ever done on them. Thank you so much. 🎉
My mom was a Cosmetologist in the 80's, so I grew up learning the basics of cutting both men and women's hair, I can perm, and dye hair. I've been cutting my boys hair for a long time now, but I always have trouble with blending. Your video helped me so much and I love your accent!!!❤ Thank you so much!
THANK YOU! ❤ I have been cutting my husbands hair for over a year now and he hates sitting for too long so I can never get it even close to perfect. This was so helpful. I watched it and then cut his hair again. I was way faster and it just felt more structured and organized so I was less flustered. It went by so fast and effortlessly this time, that we both enjoyed the process more. ❤ thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge with us.
I just cut my son's hair using this video as guidance and it looks great. Thanks so much for this easy to follow gents haircut. I'm really happy with the results 😅
It feels like I am watching a bob ross tutorial with the amout of care you put into this explanations. What you are doing is not a mere trade but real art.
Absolutely one the very best videos online for a regular mens HC. To the point, exceptionally educational and helpful. Most videos on social media are on skin fades which is the current popular cut especially for younger, active gents. However, the regular cut will always be timeless and is the ‘go to’ when you consider a wider age range. Thank you for all you do. You’re a classy gentleman much appreciated! Greetings from San Diego, CA.
Thanks so much ET I hope you don't mind me pinning this. I really appreciate your kind words and glad you are finding valuable information on the channel
I've been cutting my husband's hair since the beginning of the pandemic. I watched tons of tutorials and my mom (a cosmetologist) tried to show me some techniques as well, but your explanations with the parietal and the occipital bones were what made it click.
THANK YOU. I have a teenage son who has gotten picky about his hair cuts and because of this, I was able to identify where I had previously made an error in the cut. I just used this video to guide me and the cut turned out with zero complaints from my son 😊
Your videos are amazing. I've watched over 100 barber tutorials and none of them are as comprehensive and detailed as yours. I especially appreciate the video edited lines that you put in, I know just how much work it is to make those edits, but they are very helpful in understanding. Thank you for such a great product of a video
Thank you for sharing your video. I've been cutting hubby's hair for years, but it's just a simple no 3 shave. Now I can give him a bit of a style. Thank you again.
6:30 Top - Make a guideline - Cut as if it's a mohawk 8:40 Equal lenght on both sides 8:50 Fringes 11:00 Fade in top and bottom 12:15 Crown 12:50 Fringe
Great tutorial for me. I was a barber decades ago and this cut is exactly what my son wants me to do! I haven’t cut anyone other than my family’s hair for over 30 years.😊
I loved the video ❤ I am newly married and from years it was my husbands wish to get an haircut at home and save 20 dollars per haircut. You won’t believe it’s been a year he kept requesting but i always refused bcz of low confidence and poor knowledge about haircut. After watching this video i got confidence and did my husband’s haircut ❤ I must say your teaching skills are to next level 😊 love it ! Thank you sooo much!!
Hello 👋. Thank you for making the Gentleman’s hair cut simple. For us beginners. I have the tendency to go up to high. And than I get lost at the top. Also I have a bit of difficulty with the taper cut. Thank you. 🙏
I needed this video yesterday when I was cutting my son's fringe. I'll see if he'll give me a 2nd chance to adjust his hair. Love this very easy to follow tutorial. I practiced the hand movements in the air to get comfortable with the technique.
I'm a one year Barber who was getting so much confuse with many tutor on you tube, But since i came across your video I must say your amazing tutor and thank you very much for sharing your skills, and i do love scissor cut that using clippers.
I‘ve been cutting my boys hair for years and this is basically what I do with the guideline and sections and all. But the clippers always make me nervous, your explanation about the bones/ cliff makes so much sense. I always have tried to follow the bone because it seemed the most sensible thing, so I was not far off.
Excellent. Going straight up using the parietal and occiput as a guide improved my son's haircut quite a bit. He likes it short so I just use a 1 inch on the top and then blend, but I'm looking forward to trying the other techniques some time as well. Thanks!
This was great! As a woman, I never really saw men’s haircuts growing up, so when I decided to cut mine off I was glad to find this! I’ve cut my hair short before but it was always guesswork. Thank you for this, a solid beginner’s guide! ❤
I have cutting experience but haven’t cut hair since 2020 (never qualified) have to cut a friends hair for him and this has reminded me of all the little things I’ve forgotten in the last 3 years of not doing it. Thankyou for this 15 min video. Better than any course could teach you in this time
I've been cutting my families hair ever since COVID and no one in our family wore a mask. I'm getting pretty good at cutting hair actually. Got a really good pair of scissors and comb and razor!

Sir, that was the best hairstyle, hair cut, clipper blend I have ever witnessed. I am amazed by your skill. You turn it into a work of art. Oh, and I just recently purchased some hair clippers and wanted some ideas on how to best cut my own hair. Yes, my own hair Im cutting. 😬😁
Thanks for the tutorial. I have been cutting my husband’s hair since the pandemic and on my last cut, I really butchered it! Time for a refresher course.
@@theoneminutebarber Yes, I cut my husband’s hair yesterday and it came out nicely thanks to your “scissor over comb” technique and being more careful, calm and focused during the cut. Thanks again!

A couple of fun facts about sonevof your terminology (I think?): What you call "cutting off the corners" we call "blending' in the US. I’m new graduated barber and I did the same technique and I was happy with the results and the client too, but the owner of the salon who’s Indian and follow very very very ancient way in hair cutting fired me as he was dissatisfied and told me that Canadian hairstyling school know nothing about hair cutting. To be honest with you , I promised myself that I will never ever work for Indian even if they pay me triple the commission.they are super stupid 😂😂😂😂
I cut my husband's hair with this tutorial and it came out great and even! Thank you so much for the descriptive and educational video. The visual representation of the skull guidelines really helped me follow this guide! Thank you!
there’s one thing you don’t mention here - the way you flick the comb and hold it between your thumb and forefinger whilst you cut. Thanks for all these vids, seriously.
You know Ray, I was kicking myself after I published the video about that, I just slipped that in without saying anything about it. That was sharp of you to pick up in it. But yes that is something very worth knowing, it's also one of the best skills I ever learned. Next scissor cutting video and it's in there.
Thank you so so much! I just followed your tutorial and gave my husband the best hair cut he’s ever gotten from me! He doesn’t need to go to the barber anymore! (unless he decides he wants a fade)
My Son is Autistic. I’ve been training myself to give him a good cut. He has sensory issues so I kinda complicates the cut. The crown is so hard for me.
Good luck, and you'd be more than welcome to come join us over in my free community, there is some free barber lessons for beginners in there www.skool.com/one-minute-barber-academy/about
I have been cutting my hair or younger brother's hair since i was 14 years old (nearly 16 years ago) and as of November 19 2023 I own my barbing company, I knew the comb(s) was a gold mine but this video proved it. Thank you. God bless you. In Jesus Name. Amen
I just cut my husbands hair for the first time. He does not look like he was ran over with a lawnmower. I am impressed. Years of watching my Mum cut hair at her home salon in the country may have showed me basic technique.... I was petrified to be honest. Your videos are great.
This is is soo good. Thankyou !! All the fade totutorials are far to daunting for a beginner. This give me the confidence to a nice but simple haircut for my self. Thankyou 😊
Well thankyou, i did a city & guikds in hairdressing in 1995 at age 20, but didnt stay in that line of work, i only ever do womens hair very very occasionally now, My old dad asked me to cut his hair so ive just watched your video as a brain refresher Thanks again, your style is very easy to watch and enjoyable 😊

Thank you so so much! I just followed your tutorial and gave my husband the best hair cut he’s ever gotten from me! He doesn’t need to go to the barber anymore! (unless he decides he wants a fade)
You are so welcome!
Looks like he’s talking to himself 😅
Absolutely the best haircut video, I have seen!
Thank you Nikolaj
That kid talks non stop
😂😂
That would annoy me soo much 😂
🤣🤣
My Son is Autistic. I’ve been training myself to give him a good cut. He has sensory issues so I kinda complicates the cut. The crown is so hard for me.
I really do appreciate this video
Thanks for this. I'm starting my barber training in a few months and found this super helpful.

I have been cutting my hair or younger brother's hair since i was 14 years old (nearly 16 years ago) and as of November 19 2023 I own my barbing company, I knew the comb(s) was a gold mine but this video proved it.
Thank you. God bless you. In Jesus Name. Amen
Well done starting your own business. God bless you and your family
Clean and simple. Thx for the vid.
I just cut my husbands hair for the first time. He does not look like he was ran over with a lawnmower. I am impressed. Years of watching my Mum cut hair at her home salon in the country may have showed me basic technique.... I was petrified to be honest. Your videos are great.
Thank you Stell I’m glad it helped 😃
