I watched so many of your videos two years ago before I got my first bunny. I watched a lot of videos and read lots of articles on rabbit care and how to bond with them. I followed your tips from a past video once she was home and it took about a month before she was a cuddle bun. She was only a month old when she came home so she's only ever known how to he a spoiled bun and to be a diva. About 6 months ago we got another bunny! He was around 5 months at the time and had just become available at the rescue. The 2 bunnies bonded in about a week and now they are the cutest love buns ever! He is a very shy and scared rabbit however and has only now 6 months later started to allow us to pet him a bit at a time. He does love to come play with me on the couch and lay down under the table near us. He loves us and is slowly starting to trust us. We are not sure what happened to him before he came to the rescue to make him so scared, but I'm glad he's starting to trust us. I'm so sorry for the super long comment. Thanks so much for your videos as they have helped me care for my babies and to build a great relationship with them.

This is good general advice for anyone wanting to bond with any pet. I have a pet rooster that I befriended doing pretty much what was demonstrated in this video. So it doesn't only apply to rabbits or even exclusively to mammals. My rooster follows me everywhere, he's my little buddy.
I’ve had this one rabbit for over 2 years and she still doesn’t like me invading her personal space. We “rescued” her from a friend who’s child kept about 6-7 bunnies in a cage(not a tiny one but not enough space to exercise). They weren’t taken well care of and they were all small and losing fur. Now two years later my rabbit has a thick coat of fur and is a big fatty lol. I feel bad that she is still scared of me but she is doing much better compared to the day she came home. ☺️
Give it some more time. Sounds like she is doing so much better with you. It took Ebony many years to start warming up with me. I’d encourage you try some R+ training like clicker training! That’s has helped Ebony the most out of everything!
101Rabbits Wow I wasn’t expecting a reply, just thought I would share my story, so thank you! And I will look into the R+ training and see where I can go from there! I used to have other bunnies that were social but I’ve had a few pass. I currently have this one and one that was returned to a store my aunt works at. They couldn’t take returns on animals though so I took her and she’s a little sweetheart. Thanks a lot!😊
I've been doing my research since the beginning of the year before I finally get a rabbit. I recently got one and I was surprise he let us pet him and doesn't budge when we picked him up. Obviously we don't pick him up often, we just let him run around the house.
I’ve had my bunny for about 2 years and really doesn’t like to be picked up or be near people and it’s been hard hanging out and bonding with him and I don’t know what to do
U should watch Lennon the bunny, maybe you’ve traumatized him. It’s probably gonna take a long time to create a bond with him but Lennon the bunny is a really great channel
you have to pick him up a certain way... try the "bunny burrito".... throw a towel on their back while in the cage, over the eyes too...that calms them alot... then tuck the towel up under them, and lift after they calm down a little. Make sure you support the rear end, but dont hold the legs together in one hand like its tempting to do. When both legs are held they want to jump bad and will kick/scratch you. Just get the towel under so they cant scratch you with the hind legs and lift them out of the cage all wrapped up like a baby. You HAVE to support the body or they will squirm out of your hands. Dont hold their necks like you can hold a cat by the scruff, ever. You hurt them and they will freak every time you try.
I really liked your video! My little Rabbit was traumatized by my sister's friends who were horrible to my baby. Luckily I was able to build a trusting and loving relationship with my little Rabbit. Today she runs to me to receive love, and she seems much more fulfilled in her new environment, in complete freedom and kindness! Love your Rabbit people, he deserves it!
When I first got my bunny he was a little shy. But after like 2 weeks we became best friends! His personality really came out and now every time I come home he does a bunch of bunnies, twitches his ears, and runs a mini mile around my room! He loves to lay down and get petted. He also loves kisses!
Oh my bun, your babies are so adorable. I’m still having issues with my fosters (I’ve had for over two years so I’m pretty sure they’re permanent!) they were abused by their previous owner and are still very wary of noise and movement, so sometimes they love attention but other times they recoil at first until they realize it’s me. sometimes I’ll get a lunge or a thump and other times I’ll get a binky or a nose bump. Poor babies just can’t decide.
Aww! Poor babies! Abuse is hard to get over. I’d try some clicker training (don’t do it inside their “safe place” like their pen though as it’s best to keep that space “theirs” in the beginning at least. Try take a gentle step towards them, click the clicker, and give a treat. Then repeat. This helps associate you walking closer with good things. You can then use the clicker with other behaviors like when your hand goes close to them, click and treat. If they’re not comfortable taking treats from your hands gently toss the treat into a dish for them.
I actually got my rabbit 3 days ago, this helps a lot because I never had a rabbit and I need this video to help me see how my rabbit “hope” can be comfortable with me!
Your rabbits are so calm around treats. Mine are frantic and very excited running around when they think there is a treat lol these are great tips thank you I will try them with my buns 😁
When I was in high school, My junior and senior year. I went to school for animals and I created a special bond with one of the rabbits in the lab. I spent time with him, and let him get to know me on his level. And he grew attached to me, followed me around when he hopped and I was cleaning his cage and litter box, jumped in my lap and loved to be petted. He would always be by my side when I was sad or upset and would not leave my side until I was happy again.
I had a rescue rabbit named Twix.❤️She was the sweetest rabbit I’ve ever had. She ran out in front of my car on a busy road and I was able to pull over and save her. She had warbles and I had to take her to the vet but it always made me sad that someone would put her out like that.😢 She was the most cuddly little thing, from the get go. I don’t know if it was because she bonded with me because of what she had gone through or what, but she trusted me so much.❤️ She was the type of rabbit who would sit on my chest for 2-3 hours and watch movies or tv with me. I miss her so much.😢❤️The bond between a rabbit and its owner is such a special thing. Twix would also click when being petted, which was super cute. And she was so smart! She peed on me, only once.🤣I had such a strong reaction that she must have realized she shouldn’t do that because every time after that, she would hold it until I took her back to her cage and then she would go in her litter box. Rabbits are super trainable animals and so cool! I hope to rescue another rabbit one day soon that is as sweet as Twix was.❤️She was a half Dutch/Dwarf rabbit.
This was a great video! Well, they're all great. I like how you focused on the idea that they all have different personalities, and some bunnies will just be cuddlier. We have 3 Holland Lops, but one in particular is closely bonded with me. When I turn on a hockey game onto he TV, Thumper has learned to hop up on the pillow beside me so that i can pet him. No treats, just repetition. If i stop petting him he shoves his head under my hand to make sure o keep petting him. He makes little squeaky noises and chatters his teeth. He is my little hockey buddy. Keep making such great videos!
My bun bun which I am VERY allergic to, still love her wouldn't change a thing. I had rehomed as her previous owner was unable to care for her. She had spent all of her time in her cage and the only contact was when food and water was put in or she was being cleaned. When she came and we let her out in the house she sat in a corner under the table and didn't move the whole time she was out we just let her be until we had to put her back in. Eventually I lay down next to her and she started sniffing at me and tapping me with her nose. But if I moved an inch she would panic and run away. Now she nibbles you if you arent petting her enough. We have only had her about 6 months but apparently she used to be really friendly before she had to stay in the cage. I'm just glad she has settled in and is happy
Thank you so much for posting this. I've been between homes and where I've had to stay my rabbit wasn't so welcomed as a pet. I have to rebuild my relationship with her.
So true with evenie(sorry cant spell❤️) My friend got a Bunny from a owner who had him for 2 years, horrible cage and they almost didnt tuch him, he HATES being Pet. But her girl she got as a baby is a cuddlebaby😂
I like your bunnies. One of my bunny doesn't liked to be touched. My female bunny gave birth to 5 baby bunnies and they are 4 weeks old. So cute to cuddle them
When is a good time to start petting them? I’ve had my bunny almost a week but he’s seven months old and will let me touch his head after I’ve sat with him the past couple of days but I’m not sure when is the best time to handle him more etc
Thx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My bunny hates me and when I say hate I mean will keep a straight face if he saw me burning in front of him -_- sooo hope this helps me!! I keep you updated and tell you everything he lets me do
I became very ill and had to be separated from my Bunny. (I had pneumonia and two strains of influenza virus.) I am no longer in the room where he roams and his pen-habitat is set up because I am still recovering. I do go into room to open his pen to roam, feed him, tidy the pen, and floor, and to spend time with him. I have discovered I have to re-bond with him. My sweet cuddle Bunny is now territorial about his pen-habitat. While sitting on the floor has come up to me and nipped my hand, twice. He does allow me to pet him and he will give me a gentle nudge with his nose. Also, he rears up on his hind legs like he wants to climb up my leg; when he does this, I slowly (so I won’t spook him) get down to his level. He then hops around the room as if to ignore me. He wants me to stay on that level. From the time I found him until, I became ill and was confined in hospital, he shared my room, and I spent the majority of each day and night in that room. I think he feels I’ve abandoned him. Doctor says recovery is going to take a very long time. I eventually want to re-organize that room and move back into it; but right now I am not able.
I agree with you. I was kinda upset when i see most bunnies on instagram, they can cuddle with their human & giving kisses. None of my buns are like that. But at least they like to be pet and that is enough for me. Every bunny is different.
So true! And you have to remember that most bunnies you see are like that because everyone is afraid to show their bunnies who aren’t that way or they get rid of them. Getting rid of expectations and simply enjoying your rabbit for who THEY are, no who you want them to be, will change and grow your relationship so much!
Ahoyhoy There, Fellow UA-camrino! I have a New Zealand Meat Rabbit named Azaria that I keep as a pet ( I choose meat rabbits a lot because I want to save them from being Market Rabbits, actually, Meat Rabbits make some of the best pet rabbits) and she is one of my top three favourite rabbits out of at least ten other rabbits I've had.
I love your channel so much thank you so much for all your wonderful advice. I don’t even have a bunny, but I really do want one. I think I may be able to get one next year. Regardless, I love listening to your voice (sorry if that’s creepy) and looking at all your babs! I hope you see this!❤️❤️
I used to do my homework on the floor with my bunny. He was pretty shy, and wouldn't come out if I was paying attention to him, but once I started concentrating on my hw, he would come over and sit on my back or legs... or steal my papers lol
I adopted two bunny's and one had suffered trauma so was very hard to bond with ,so i just sat in their pen and read to them and gradually he warmed up to me and now when i walk in the shed he runs up to me wanting attention. : ) He is still quite scared of a lot of things but at least he trusts me. : )
Just got a baby bun, 8wks old he seems very afraid of me, doesn’t want to be pet, or picked up. I sure hope this changes over time because my two previous boys were the sweetest buns ever.
I have à prob..my bunnies aren't litter trained so i worry for some 'accidents' when im spending time wth them also what if they go somewhère else? Should i be like in a lìmited space whn bonding? Plzzzz reply somebody!!!
My Midnight was very easy going and constantly wants pets. If I just pick up my phone, she will grab it and throw it. Lol even if she's not paying attention to me, she want to know she has my full attention. Lol
Cocoa my bunny took 3 weeks to trust me lol she loves me soo much lol she is 11 weeks. Got her when she was 8 weeks she loves me and shows all these signs.
It depends on the rabbit. The typical age range is 8-10 years. But smaller bunnies can live up to 13+ and larger giant breeds tend to live shorter. And of course genetics have a lot to do with it.
I have a bunny and I love him so much. If I keep him in a roomy pen with platforms, tunnels, and other objects to play with/on, do you think that would compromise for space? We have four cats and I don’t want him running around a big house with those guys 😳
I love you and your bunnies! I was wondering when your etsy store is going to open again because we recently finished building a much much larger pen and I would love to put some cage liners and snug a buns in it.
I just got two bunnies, and one of them is comfortable and the other one isn’t. She will stay in a corner or avoid contact. I’ve been giving her space. I give them treats and I’m hoping to bond with them within the months
I have a bunny named Sunny and im a few weeks she has birthday at the same day like me. And she Loves it wenn I give her hay idk But she looovveeeess hay so much😂
Do you have any idea how a bunny bond with the previous bunny..both of mine are fighting every time when I release them out? They are not friendly to each other
I lucked out with mine, she'll lay there for hours clicking her teeth as I pet her. This started 2 hours after she showed up. She even likes her paws and tail pet lol.
You can tell all your bunnies are crazy about you and really love you.

Your an amazing human ❤️
good job - you are doing God's work. I always say these animals did not ask to be born either - and that is the bond.
I love training as a form of bonding with any pet. It's fun to interact with your pet, and it really does make me feel closer with my pets to work toward a common goal. So happy you’re bunny is doing so well!
Mine was ocd too she didn’t like being dirty or having her stuff dirty 😂
What things did you do to build trust with your rabbit? My rabbit isn’t very affectionate however I’m trying to be patient
Question. Did you ear clean and trim nails while bonding? I bond but then I ear clean and he hates me for so long afterwards
I usually just let my rabbit free roam. Then I sit in the middle of the floor and let me come to me! Then I give him a pet or a treat!
Wouldn't the rabbit pee and poo everywhere? Just wondering bc mine does that
@@dianayi5907 not if they are litter trained! If they free roam already, this shouldnt be an issue.
my mother wont let me take the bunny out of the cage, its a big cage so would that be ok ?

When is a good time to start petting them? I’ve had my bunny almost a week but he’s seven months old and will let me touch his head after I’ve sat with him the past couple of days but I’m not sure when is the best time to handle him more etc
So good! I’m going to use this all the time 😊
Excellent video Haley. Thank you :)
Thx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My bunny hates me and when I say hate I mean will keep a straight face if he saw me burning in front of him -_- sooo hope this helps me!!
I keep you updated and tell you everything he lets me do
My bunnies aren’t lickers but I love to sit next to them and pet them, as well as play with them!
When I let my rabbit out for a few hours when he's ready to hide he will go under the couch it's so funny 😂
Ever since I got my bun, she has been very cuddly and attached to me haha!
Really helpful
Ahoyhoy There, Fellow UA-camrino! I have a New Zealand Meat Rabbit named Azaria that I keep as a pet ( I choose meat rabbits a lot because I want to save them from being Market Rabbits, actually, Meat Rabbits make some of the best pet rabbits) and she is one of my top three favourite rabbits out of at least ten other rabbits I've had.
Love your videos
I love your channel so much thank you so much for all your wonderful advice. I don’t even have a bunny, but I really do want one. I think I may be able to get one next year. Regardless, I love listening to your voice (sorry if that’s creepy) and looking at all your babs! I hope you see this!❤️❤️
Mr. Bunnington of Spots is going to be happy with me!!! Thanks!!
3:09 when she says that the closer the space the better the bond, The X-pen my buns live in is literally right next to my bed heh.
I'm getting a rabbit today 'daisy and this really helped THANK U
Just got a baby bun, 8wks old he seems very afraid of me, doesn’t want to be pet, or picked up. I sure hope this changes over time because my two previous boys were the sweetest buns ever.
This video is useful! I have a rabbit

This vid definitely helped lots! But still working on my bond with my rabbit.💛
Another great trick is to put a treat or pellets on top of u lay down on the floor and let the rabbit eat off u it's helped me so much
My Midnight was very easy going and constantly wants pets. If I just pick up my phone, she will grab it and throw it. Lol even if she's not paying attention to me, she want to know she has my full attention. Lol
Can you do a vid of good and bad brushes for your bunny cause I guess it's molting or shredding season, plz. Also what is the best brush for rabbits?
Very good video
I'm getting a bunny in 1 month I'm going to try all this out I have it all wrote down on paper thanks P.S I love your channel Soooooooo Much
I got my bunny today and she loves when I pet her
Cocoa my bunny took 3 weeks to trust me lol she loves me soo
much lol she is 11 weeks. Got her when she was 8 weeks she loves me and shows all these signs.
My bunny passed away this summer, this video gives me a sense of comfort. How long do your bunnies usually live for?
It depends on the rabbit. The typical age range is 8-10 years. But smaller bunnies can live up to 13+ and larger giant breeds tend to live shorter. And of course genetics have a lot to do with it.
I have a bunny and I love him so much. If I keep him in a roomy pen with platforms, tunnels, and other objects to play with/on, do you think that would compromise for space? We have four cats and I don’t want him running around a big house with those guys 😳
This is so helpful thank you ❤️❤️
Nice
Just a question where do you buy rabbit food/ pelletes
I love you and your bunnies! I was wondering when your etsy store is going to open again because we recently finished building a much much larger pen and I would love to put some cage liners and snug a buns in it.
I just got two bunnies, and one of them is comfortable and the other one isn’t. She will stay in a corner or avoid contact. I’ve been giving her space. I give them treats and I’m hoping to bond with them within the months
I have a bunny named Sunny and im a few weeks she has birthday at the same day like me. And she Loves it wenn I give her hay idk But she looovveeeess hay so much😂
Helped so much!!
What kind of food do you use as positive reinforcement or treat? Thanxs
I'm going to try it now
i love your rabbits
Can I do the same treatment for the babies...Are the treatments are different for both...
Haley, i just wanna say that I LOOOOOVE your leggings where did you get them
