@@nateo190 it's still rabbit domestic or not. One generation of domestication does not make it less edible. At least this way you recuperate some of the cost input into the care of the rabbit. If your rabbit loves you then your rabbit should have no problem feeding you. Is their any better way to get that final bit of emotional proximity and closure then to eat your rabbit near the end of its lifespan? Be one with your rabbit, consume it's essence entirely, and if you exercise and develop skeletal or cardiac muscle with the nutrition from your rabbit, you could carry your rabbit around with you until the day you die. @@nateo190 a rabbit is a prey animal not your blood relative or your own species. Thank you for all the info on bunny behavior. Someone dumped a black bunny where I work. I caught it bought a cage, food, treats, bedding, but know very little about care. This has explained many personality traits. Thanks again🐰
do NOT trust everything is this video, half of "alert" behavior isnt caused by fear but by need to explore....bunny having ear forward looking like satelites is curious and happy bunny never ever ever would scared bunny have ears pointing forward!!!
We got a bunny this last weekend and within a day he was doing these dramatic flops. I freaked out thinking we did something wrong but then realized he was just really happy. He does it all the time now😂
Both of my rabbits tend to sit in a position where their feet are completely under them so they’re basically a ball with a head! 😂 Never seen the Superman pose.
After watching this...im 100% certain my bunny doesnt know if its mad at me or content. I rescued her from a bad breeder today. She has bald spots, very bad matting, and bites all over her. But she is still the sweetest bunny. She is a Holland Lop.
I have heard a bunny scream several times, and because of that I thought that it wasn’t a big deal, it was just a sign to show that the bunny is scared, but when you say it like it thinks it’s about to die, I am now scared. My bunny doesn’t scream so often anymore, she has done it maybe four times when I’m about to give her some greens or when she’s in contact with one of the other bunnies. But when you got to the screaming my heart nearly stopped, I have to check on her now. Update: We’ve been looking a lot more closely at her, and we’ve been seeing a lot of scars and small wounds, so the other two bunnies have definitely bitten her, so we separated them a little bit and saw how it’s go, and I think it became like this when we got the new bunny who is a guy. But anyways she’s a lot more calm now, and happier Uwu
I don't even know your rabbit but I was scared when you said that he has scars I am happy that he is more calm and happy now❤ I hope that he will get better and he wont scream anymore (srry if there is bad english)
Make sure you got a BIG, spacious cage. Also let them out into the garden. Don't keep bunnies exclusively indoors. In fact, I think they shouldn't be indoors at all most of the time.
Mine too! It's a lighter thump and more grumbly growl than the sharp, angry ones she uses when she's scared or mad. It's easy to tell the difference because she's usually circling and begging the whole time.
@Dee Vee I don't think so. Rabbits are prey animals. They check out the perimeter to figure out where to go if a fox happens to come visit. Those hops in the air aren't a sign of happiness. They are practicing a thousand generations of pre-programming of how to get away from predators. They twist in the air so that they land and head in a different direction than the animal chasing them.
@@sfish714 yes but just like with rats popcorning they use in play as well. When wrestling with my hand or playing with the other rats. As well as when they're exploring or hear a treat bag open. Just like dogs play fight, it's an instinct but they also use it in play. That's how they practice.
I have a bunny and she does all of this sometimes when I'm petting her she will go to sleep for a while and as soon as I stop she will wake up and push her head down on my hand it's kinda funny to be honest
my rabbit does the same thing but when i ignore her she nudges, bites, and just thumps her feet to get my attention and i think it’s so funny cause she grunts too but in the end she gets kisses and cuddles so it’s okay
Wow I learned so much. Sometimes I would chase my bunny and when he would hide in a corner of laundry he would thump. I thought this was his way of playfully telling me his location. I had no idea this was possibly a sign of fear or annoyance. Please provide clarification.
Your bunny is not happy when you chase him that is why he hides and then thumps. The thumping is sending a sign that danger is around (in this case the danger is when he is chased). I usually just lay on the floor until my bunnies come to me.
My bunny only thumps right before jumps. He used to thump then try to jump on the couch. Now he can get up here but he still always thumps first. I’m pretty sure he’s not ever scared or anything like that when he does it. He has the best personality. We got him for my girls, but he chose me. Lol
Yes, that's true. My bunny have one eye blue and one eye brown. And on the beginning (when we bought her) she was scared and her blue, wide eye look terrifying. But now she's more calm

The thumping is probably done in fear / alert because wild rabbits will thump to alert family of danger. Honestly I think its a bit sweet when they thump because its like they are warning you as if you are family
Thank you for this thorough video on bunny behaviors. I’m thinking about getting a bunny but am first researching as much as I can about them to make sure its something I really want and can handle.
When a rabbit thumps it doesn't always means he's scared. My rabbit thumps when I'm too slow at giving him a treat or when I'm not paying attention to him. It shows that they really have their own individual personalitys and that makes me happy.
Lol our rabbits are outdoor rabbits and the youngest is always knocking down the ramp in the hutch. I always get annoyed because the others have to use the ramp to get to the heated room, but I’m glad that she is doing it because she’s happy
Thank you so much for your time and energy devoted towards rabbit care. I was thinking about getting a rabbit but decided against it because the care involved is way more than I could commit to. If I ever did decide to bring a bunny into my life, it would be a rescue for sure. I don't get my dogs and cats from stores like petco or PetSmart! Not saying those stores abuse animals, but some places where they buy their doggies, kitties, and bunnies DO ABUSE animals! It's just sickening. I suppose buying dog/cat food is okay, but please stop buying living pets from them. The puppy mills they come from is just horrible!!!!
I wish I had known this when I had my rabbit!! (I had to give her back to her breeder [nice fam!]bc we moved into an apartment☹️) If I had known this I would have probably liked her and treated her way better bc a lot of this stuff, such as the head lowering for pets, I thought was her communication that she didn’t want pet, or when she would run super speed circles around my room or her cage- I thought she was scared😕😋 VERY informational video!!
It really depends on a rabbit but "chewing" can be a signal to you, the owner, that they want something. On busy days it's a blessing for me. Once I hear the "chewing" I know they want my attention. Meaning: the water, hay or water has gone out. As a dog person, it made me realize bunnies are much smarter than I've previously thought.
Right, my daughters rabbit is free roam in her room but i change the box for him so when he needs it changed he comes to my room scratches on the door to let me know then runs back in his room. It really is about communication and learnig and listening to the signs🐰
My rabbit dies 2 years ago it's her anniversary of death today which we celebrate all the good times we've had with her please can I at least get 50 like one for each memory even though we've had sport more memories than that when we had her I love her so much so if you have a rabbit give them all the love you've got
Please consider doing your research before getting a rabbit. They are a 10 year commitment. if you can't commit time, effort, love and vet visits please do not get one. If you think you are ready to care for another sentient being, please get rabbits from your local rabbit shelter. A lot of them are abandoned especially during Easter.

Coming from a bunny owner and bunny lover that's been around the lagomorphs for close to 5 years now, I should tell you that you're wrong about some of the stuff you said in this video. Hopefully this will be educational to others as well - - Rabbits eat cecotropes not because they're happy but it's because nature designed them this way. As a matter of fact they usually try to be discreet about it - stomping isn't always anger driven. Sometimes they stomp cause they're happy or use the stomp as a boost before running - periscoping isn't always a sign of fear but more often curiosity - them lowering their heads before you pet them isn't sign of happiness but a sign of "yes you're the top bun" attitude - kicking feet back is actually a sign of happiness not anger. My Pikuś kicks his feet when he's happy and content. Absolutely zero fear Had to clarify some of these things for you and for others out there. Hope that's educational and it helps you guys. Rabbits are absolutely amazing but takes a good while to learn about them amd a ton of patience. If anyone has any questions about bunnies I'd love to be of assistance if I can
Pikuś Czuczi ty! My bunny periscopes all the time especially when she’s in a room she doesn’t always have access to, so this makes a lot more sense and also makes me less concerned about her being scared.
@@mezathome8162 my pleasure. Some of these videos are extremely misleading and these idiots talk with authority like they know what they're talking about thinking they're correct when in reality they couldn't be more wrong. So in other words not everything you see on UA-cam is correct information. Periscoping is almost ALWAYS a sign of curiosity and being playful and content. You'll know when bunny is scared or in fear because- his body will be lower to the ground, he'll look like he's ready to run, eyes wide open, ears all the way back. Hope that helps

My rabbit just had a seizure and passed a few weeks ago and I was watching this because I just found a bonded pair that I fell in love with. This has assuaged a lot of my self-inflicted guilt about doing everything wrong with Rowan because he displayed all of the happy behaviors that I didn't know were specific to being happy, such as begging, flipping, etc. Thank you for that.
You should have cooked it whilst you had the chance.

Do not let the ground decompose your beloved rabbit into nothingness. Show it that last bit of honour. Do it for your rabbit.
@@nateo190 a rabbit is a prey animal not your blood relative or your own species. It's not cannibalism and futhermore rabbit meat is eat worldwide across all cultures and not taboo like dog (which are not prey animals).
A rabbit has quite a lot of lean protein so if you cook abd then refrigerate you can pread the meat over a longer period. Combine this with a decent muscle building program and you will have made the most it.
To be fair you are the one that is coming across hostile and obnoxious. A psychopath / sociopath isn't necessarily evil or violent. Psychos or born with little or no ability to feel guilt and empathy. This does not mean judging is impaired or anti social. A sociopatch is made not born so it's very difficult to find a socio who is not evil. But neither are relevant. This isn't about being empathic or feeling guilt after all the rabbit is dead and the rabbits feelings are no longer in play.

I heard my rabbit scream before, and I knew it was bad, and when I check on her, her head was stuck in the gaps of her x-pen, I removed the zip-ties to get the gap bigger and she removed her head eventually, that was a threat 😢
Definitely. My friend had a pet rabbit and her beagle got out and chased the bun all over the yard until we could contain the dog. The bunny was okay, but when i caught it to put it away, it screamed so loud. It was heartbreaking.

Never seen the Superman pose.
My two buns are doing this a lot. Imagine, how ridiculously funny this was, when their balls suddenly appeared.

This is the best bunny video I have ever watched. Explains alot of what my bunnies do and why. Very informative. Thank you so much 💖
I have heard a bunny scream several times, and because of that I thought that it wasn’t a big deal, it was just a sign to show that the bunny is scared, but when you say it like it thinks it’s about to die, I am now scared.
My bunny doesn’t scream so often anymore, she has done it maybe four times when I’m about to give her some greens or when she’s in contact with one of the other bunnies.
But when you got to the screaming my heart nearly stopped, I have to check on her now.
Update:
We’ve been looking a lot more closely at her, and we’ve been seeing a lot of scars and small wounds, so the other two bunnies have definitely bitten her, so we separated them a little bit and saw how it’s go, and I think it became like this when we got the new bunny who is a guy.
But anyways she’s a lot more calm now, and happier Uwu
Go to the Vet and update us. Hope everything is ok, good luck! :3
@@iWillWakeYouUp Bunnies should always live inside. . .

My bunny will make little noises and sometimes thump her foot when she thinks I'm taking too long to feed her
Mine too! It's a lighter thump and more grumbly growl than the sharp, angry ones she uses when she's scared or mad. It's easy to tell the difference because she's usually circling and begging the whole time.

I just brought my rabbit home and withing 2 hours he was doing a bunny 500 for like 10 minutes.
@Dee Vee I don't think so. Rabbits are prey animals. They check out the perimeter to figure out where to go if a fox happens to come visit. Those hops in the air aren't a sign of happiness. They are practicing a thousand generations of pre-programming of how to get away from predators. They twist in the air so that they land and head in a different direction than the animal chasing them.
sfish714 Nope. A binky is a major sign of happiness. Even dogs will do a similar behavior when they’re excited and happy.
So I've had him since the end of June and from the beginning he was very comfortable with me. Hes so rotten and hyper.
@@sfish714 yes but just like with rats popcorning they use in play as well. When wrestling with my hand or playing with the other rats. As well as when they're exploring or hear a treat bag open. Just like dogs play fight, it's an instinct but they also use it in play. That's how they practice.

Wow I learned so much. Sometimes I would chase my bunny and when he would hide in a corner of laundry he would thump. I thought this was his way of playfully telling me his location. I had no idea this was possibly a sign of fear or annoyance. Please provide clarification.
Yes it is a sign of fear. He's not necessarily afraid of you, maybe just of the chasing?
Don't chase your bunny. Bunnies are prey animals, they can be scared of you thinking you're a predator.
Bunnies are prey animals so yes it’s prob fear they could think that something is trying to catch them to eat them
Your bunny is not happy when you chase him that is why he hides and then thumps.
Lol

I love love love how you treat your bunnies. They have so much space
Thank you so much for your time and energy devoted towards rabbit care. I was thinking about getting a rabbit but decided against it because the care involved is way more than I could commit to. If I ever did decide to bring a bunny into my life, it would be a rescue for sure. I don't get my dogs and cats from stores like
petco or PetSmart!

Omg 👁👄👁
this is actually funny
Coming from a bunny owner and bunny lover that's been around the lagomorphs for close to 5 years now, I should tell you that you're wrong about some of the stuff you said in this video. Hopefully this will be educational to others as well -
- Rabbits eat cecotropes not because they're happy but it's because nature designed them this way. As a matter of fact they usually try to be discreet about it
- stomping isn't always anger driven. Sometimes they stomp cause they're happy or use the stomp as a boost before running
- periscoping isn't always a sign of fear but more often curiosity
- them lowering their heads before you pet them isn't sign of happiness but a sign of "yes you're the top bun" attitude
- kicking feet back is actually a sign of happiness not anger. My Pikuś kicks his feet when he's happy and content. Absolutely zero fear
Had to clarify some of these things for you and for others out there.
I guess it really just depend on the bunny lol
