Its amazing how sacred their music is even with its quirkiness and hard metal aesthetic they still manage to insert a grain of hopeful disorder. I wish them peace.

This band was instrumental in helping me get through the bullying of grade 6-8 (2001-2003)
I wish I had SOAD when I was 12-14. One girl, much older than I, got on my school bus every day, beat me up, got off 6 blocks later. Her dad owned the big karate businesses. I have no idea why she hated me, but I relied in Grand Funk Railroad, Foghst, and early punk rock.
@@surpriseitsus9622 She liked you, but she didn’t know how to tell you. She is as afraid of her feelings. Beating you up was a way to deny those feelings. Hopefully she overcame her fear.
@@MS-ns2pj I can only hope she made peace with herself. She traumatized me and at 59, I still wake up trying to protect myself.

If you think THAT guitar solo is crazy, you HAVE to listen to Lonely Day. It was so hard to play, Daron never plays it live, instead he plays an improvised version. He holds the riff for so long and does it insanely fast. It's also a sad song which makes it all the better.
You know what makes me feel old?
The fact this came out in 2001.
And when I was in the military in 2003, I actually had the official SOAD hoodie for this album. I actually wore out that hoodie, lol.

Ok, now you’re making me feel old. I was deployed in Iraq when this came out. I was promoted to Master Gunnery Sergeant in 2003.I had 6 years left on my 20. lol.

@@isaiahwelch8066 1989. I was in Rwanda when Desert Shield kicked off. We were watching the news and knew that we would be redeployed. Sure enough, we were shipped out to Kuwait 2 days later.

Well, the videos that are projected on the band members in the video are a hint as to how to interpret the song.
Definitely a modern classic. Though I don't know all the lyrics, and have trouble understanding what they are saying sometimes.

I remember when my ex-gf got this CD. She used to carry folks with her in her car. To work, to school. (Me and a workmate to work in the morning. Classmates around the block after school....(She was to become "Erzieherin" @the age of 25.)
Quite soon, this CD was entitled: "this horrible music" by the passengers. We LOVED it! Haha!

Thanks for being honest about that you have heard it before. I think many reactors try to "fake" that they have never heard a song before because the "first listen" sells better. Of course there are for sure people who had never heard a certain song ever before, though I'm sure it's way less than what they try to sell :)
I think it's great to rediscover some older songs every now and then. It happens to me quite often. I do remember pretty much all songs I've ever heard. However the taste in music, at least for me, goes through cycles / phases. So it's possible that I didn't listen a certain song for years before I come back to it. There's just way too much good music out there. Just think about it for a moment. The year 2022 is closing in. Think about a song that you haven't heard this year. I'm sure you can find countless examples.
ps: Even though SOAD is an american band, they originate from Armenia
