It's the same here. It's such a strong message of faith and about having the assurance that our almighty Father in heaven listens to us and that he is going to take us to our promised land. Because his plans for us, his children are for good and not destruction. God promises us a future and hope Jer. 29:11
I did enjoy Disney sometimes but yeah I guess you have a point, also the sarcastic but depressing part is that I'm usally kinda like those people being slaves that I feel bad for, I'm like a slave to 80's cartoon fandoms lately just because I enjoy it's reboots more like Netflix Voltron and the CGI He-Man I enjoyed for example.
I know it’s kinda random to say this here, but even back when I first heard this story as a little kid in Sunday school, I always felt really sad for the Egyptian queen. She does what is unquestionably the right thing in rescuing baby Moses, even going as far as to adopt him as her son, and for all of that, she gets nothing but pain out of it. Her sons grow up and take opposite sides of a conflict, and her homeland is laid to waste by that same conflict. No mother should have to go through that.
Seriously....I cry every time I watch this but why can't I stop watching it over and over again for so many times...such an amazing movie and amazing songs with such clever lyrics....plus Ofra Haza...I take my hat off to you...RIP
God god, how she made sure that baby was asleep before sending him off!!!!! Only a mother will understand the pain in having to do that!!!! Such a great movie!!!!
This has to be one of my favorite animated movie openings. The animation is beautiful, the workers singing all together in unison is perfect, the lyrics hold such a strong meaning behind them.
It always makes me tear up, too-especially when I think about how these were my ancestors-our ancestors. They were real people experiencing this-the awful slavery, the terror, and the breathtaking miracles. I’m so, so grateful to have been born into a family that has stayed true to the covenants of God and taught them to me. It is the most precious thing to me. I love my God and Jesus Christ, the Jehovah of the Old Testament and Messiah of the New. I am so grateful that my parents taught me to love them and how to use and nurture that love and faith in the living God. He lives, and his miracles are just as great today as they were them for those who believe.
From what I read in the Bible, Jochebed actually placed Moses by the reeds in the river, right where Pharaoh's daughter found him, instead of casting him out into the river like we see here. That's quite a relief because otherwise, with all the dangers that we see in the Nile here, she might as well have just handed him over to Pharaoh's soldiers to be killed.

This song is so amazing. I just love how u can really hear the emotion and the sadness and tiredness of the people. And I love how at the beginning when the men sing u can hear a real verbal sound. The singing is so great and so dramatic I love it.
The Prince of Egypt is one of my favorite Dreamworks movies. Val Kilmer did an amazing job of being Moses and God in the Burning Bush scene. That scene is my favorite.

sophia paez this movie is honestly so beautiful and full of visual and musical symbolism and poetry. As another small example, when Moses marries Tzipporah and becomes a shepherd, the background music is playing the theme from “All I Ever Wanted,” in particular the part where he sang, “This is my home.” The peace in the music, his expression, and body language shows the huge change he’s gone through from a “sovereign prince of Egypt” to a humble shepherd nomad. What’s more, this manner of symbolism (repetition and revisiting of themes) is how the scriptures are written. It’s also the method of poetry in the Hebrew language-repeating things, reflecting things as in a chiasmus. Even the Hebrew language is gorgeously symbolic. They really did their research, or were very inspired. It is a MASTERPIECE, and I cannot get over it! 🥰
This song alone makes me want to rewatch this movie another 5 times. I mean Dreamworks out done themselves with this movie. This song is also so SMOOOOTHHHHHHHH. The music is so smooth it’s amazing, almost no other song can top this (my opinion).
It was so painful to a mother to put his baby inside the basket in order to save his life. But Moses' life has a great purpose to save the people of Israel from severe cruelty and high amount of work from Egyptians.
I like how in this movie the songs are sung mostly internally rather than externally as some of the scenes would not have looked right if they had characters noticeably singing
I drew comparisons between Queen Leah and Jocheved. Both were mothers of very important people, the only difference is Jocheved personally saved her son, which you could broke her heart. Something Disney probably should've done with Leah in a similar fashion, where she personally took Aurora to the Fairies.
They missed a real opportunity here of the lyric "Elohim, God on high" They could have said "Elohim, Adonai" same syllabus and both names for God. IMO I think that would have been a much better line
I guess it should have been easy to figure out since the whole movie is based on a bible story, but I'm sure it was for non-religious viewers so they knew who the Hebrews were calling out to
I'm seeing some stuff in comments here about the exact accuracy of some of the stuff (regardless of movie quality, no one disputes that!) but I'd like to point out this is a version a rabbi, priest, and imam agreed on to make it balanced across a mutual story that has several versions
It’s crazy to think about that this happened way before Jesus was born and that slavery went on for hundreds of generations. It’s just really shocking and sad.
@@zeldie2375 Slaves would’ve had to make bricks. It was paid workers who built the monuments and pyramids. But require them to make the same number of bricks as before; don’t reduce the quota. They are lazy; that is why they are crying out, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to our God.’ Make the work harder so that they keep working and pay no attention to lies.”’ Exodus 5: 6-9, NIV

Up makes you cry in ten minutes. The Prince of Egypt makes you cry in five.
And then you just switch from crying to smiling and back again for the rest of the movie.
Actually 2 and a half minutes for me now.
Thinking of the time I usually watch this makes me also cry really hard, I just love bread so much and it’s so sad to not be allowed to eat it ☹️
That’s kinda insane if you cried to that no offense

Also the queen got almost no screen time

Great point she was caught between a rock and a hard place. She took in a baby and nurtured him and got her entire life turned upside down.

I love this movie so much but the thing that bothers me is that the Queen Tuya she almost never gets any screen time

But what she does during her short time is very influential
