Yes, it takes on a whole new meaning as an adult. As a child I just thought it sounded cool. But as an adult when life always tells you to buy more, hustle more, and then you’ll be somebody, I am glad to know God’s value system is so different than the one of the world. I’m happy living a simple life with my family. I’d love to have more money, but if it never comes, I’m rich in love and values.
I can't tell if Jethro is the ideal father, grandfather, uncle, or father-in-law. I just know that he's the kind of man everyone would want in their lives.
It's amazing how Jethro quotes, "A single thread in a tapestry makes the pattern of the grand design...the stone that forms the base creates the mighty mountain," while Pharaoh scolds Ramesses, "One weak link can break the chain of a mighty dynasty".
Seti is working under the burden of centuries of people who think like him. He actually does believe he's right... because the contrary would mean that centuries of ancestors are wrong and that is a very scary, very heavy burden to take on.
But Jethro also has a heavy burden, he's the leader of a tribe and he's pretty much a welcoming person, despite the fact that Moses did save his daughters, most tribal leaders would put an individual through a test or something in order to be accepted and part of the tribe
"If a man lose everything he owns, has he truly lost his worth? Or is it the beginning of a new and brighter birth?" Remember this line, because we will endure hardships, all of us. But always remember that, with God, nothing is impossible. Nothing!
God doesn't exist. The fact that there are still buffoons still openly spouting their nonsense, shows how the internet opening up to the masses the way it did really did a number.
This scene always gets me, “you must learn to join the dance” someone who struggles with social anxiety I resonate with those words, this scene captures beautifully that all it really takes is to get out of your shell and be with the people you love and be yourself, joining the dance, and you can find a-lot of joy through that
Boy, as someone who saw this exact scenario play out in real life, this comment shatters my very core. Makes me think of all the opportunities I've lost.
yesss! especially the line “and though you never know all the steps…” because you have to do things in life without knowing how and just trust yourself it will be ok
That's the trick. Realizing that no one, regardless of their social and emotional wellbeing, knows all the steps. You can spend a lot of time learning and trying to adjust your perceptions and beliefs about yourself, but the only way to truly grow is to start experiencing life firsthand. That's the true catalyst for positive change. Granted, it's easier said than done with people who have more debilitating conditions, but the core idea still holds true.
When was little I always skipped past the part where Moses tried to eat the fruit before...allowed I guess? Mostly because I got such second embarrassment for it.
1:42 “A lake of gold in the desert sand is less than a cool fresh spring, and to one lost sheep, a shepherd boy is greater than the richest king” A great line about how you don’t need to have everything in order to have what you need. My favorite line from the song.
What a beautiful movie this is. A little background info for those who are interested, just things that make this movie even better: Jeffrey Katzenberg, the founder of Dreamworks, while working for Disney, has always wanted to do a Bible adaptation, but the then leader of Disney did not want that. So Katzenberg, instead of abandoning his idea, and after growing more disillusioned with Disney, took the first opportunity after creating Dreamworks to create this adaptation. He consulted both Christian and Muslim theologians to make sure it turned out as accurate and great as possible, and these theologians worked together to help create this work of art. He never cared how much the film will make, he wanted to see his vision become reality and he set out to make it one, no matter what. This was a project made out of pure love and not an ounce of greed, and THIS is why it has become such a legendary piece. I'm grateful he saw the project through so we could enjoy it even after 23, almost 24 YEARS!
Whatever you do, don't be a downer towards that dude with a big beard, otherwise, he will give you the motivational lecture of the century; singing for months on end and continuing straight through your wedding ceremony whether you like it or not. I mean, seriously, his vocal chords have got to be shredded by now 0.o
Honestly this is what I think whenever movies age characters during songs like damn guys it'd better be a good song if you're gonna do that for years on end
The entire soundtrack to this movie is just so epically emotive. Deliver Us is tragic, desperate, with the beautiful ending note of love and hope. All I Ever Wanted deceives you ripping you out of your comfort zone with a paradigm shift. Heaven's Eyes embraces you and then uplifts you. Playing With The Big Boys amuses and frustrates you. Plagues terrifies you and rips that hope away. When You Believe pulls you out of your unsteadiness to pure joy and love. Seriously, I go on an emotional rollercoaster every time I hear them. This movie is a masterpiece.
I feel like it was a bit uneven, with the over-the-top chariot race and silly Egyptian wizards and stuff taking away from the majesty of many other parts. But when it's good, it's great.
That's the best kind. Simplicity plays a key role in peace. Stop thinking about how complicated life is and narrow it down to the things you already have instead of fortune and fame. Family friends. Love and just being humble with whatcha got :) peace will come soon enough :) I ain't Christian but I've found peace
+superbuffguy100 In the Bible he was married to Tzipporah for 40 years before going back to Egypt and had 2 sons with her. he also worked for his father in-law. how can it get more simple than that. It really is amazing how someone went from being in the most powerful family (the Egyptian royal family) to being the son in-law of a shepherd who lived in the Desert. I like how Moses was not the perfect man for the job at least according to his own eyes, but God still used him to do something amazing.
This film does something most Biblical films fail to do -- it humanizes Moses. He struggles to build a new life for himself, he finds himself serving a God he barely knows, and he is genuinely conflicted over the things that God does. He even still retains respect and love for his brother the Pharoah even though he knows his heart is hard and his stubbornness leading to unimaginable pain and suffering. Now if someone would only make a film that does the same justice to Jesus...
the film ends on a depressing note too. He gets the commandments. And we all know what happens next when he returns to the camp of the Hebrew's he just saved. They are whoring, worshipping other God's, drinking, gorging, blaspheming. And God, the merciful deity that he is "Smite! Smite! Smite!!!"
@Azguard Mike 2013 Well they were given a 2nd chance after such act. What set a nail in their fate except Joshua and Caleb was their refusal to conquer the promised land out of fear towards the gigantic inhabitants
@@solomonobihan9465 True, but as Mick Jagger so clearly pointed out he had many "moments of doubt and pain". Imagine being a 30-year-old day laborer and part-time rabbi finding out that he was actually much more than he ever believed he could be and had a mission to save not just Israel but all Mankind. It was such a shocking discovery that it was little wonder he went into the wilderness to figure out what to do next.
"A single thread in a tapestry though its colour brightly shine, could never see its purpose in the pattern of the grand design" such an important line
0:21 It's pretty simple and short, but I really like how the camera shifts to show Tzipporah's expression after Moses humbles himself to Jethro, saying that he's done nothing in his life worth honoring. I like to imagine it as an eye-opening experience for her. She has this image of Moses constructed in her mind of this spoiled and entitled Egyptian prince, but all it takes is that one self-reflective comment that he makes and you can see that she's left having to completely rethink her perspective of his character. It's a small detail, but I think it's underrated.
Just what I wanted to say! It's such a small thing but it shows why she started and changed towards him. Even maybe a bit regrets being so harsh to him. I really love it!
@@NoriMori1992 she is like "wait, you what!?!?" Then we see time fly. From her just tossing the staff at him like "get to work, Moses" at the sheep. Then later she seems softer with him. We see his facial hair's grown and skin darkened from the sun. Its a great story telling through visual aid. That over time she see's him as just a man, not a spoilt brat. And when he hands her his staff with the flowers to propose, its sweet.
A teacher gave a full grade extra credit to see this. However I was not in her class i saw this movie and its never been the same. I was I, 6th grade back then.
This is one of the best transitional songs because despite it perhaps being quick with showing Moses' progress, it does do so in a powerful and entertaining way with the brilliant voice of Brian Stokes Mitchell singing that fabulous song. It's a great testemant to the brotherhood and friendship formed by strong faith and how what a man is worth is hardly the physical things upon earth and how one is capable of redemption no matter what that person has done
I was about to write this! It's a great transition, especially when the song is about viewing one's life through "heaven's eyes" - in other words, seeing the greater picture of your life and how it connects to everything else. Thus how much we see Moses' life progress in these 3 minutes (which, in the movie, of course, is probably several years) connects with the message of the song - all of these little moments that we see of Moses' life with these people over several years are part of a greater picture. And it's all so fluid and well done that the audience barely even questions how several years progress in 3 minutes! (Technically in the bible he stays with Jethro for around 40 years, but, obviously they didn't want that much of a time gap in the movie.)
Thats the beauty of this movie it can be watched 1,000,000 times and never gets old also even though heaven’s eyes is my least favorite song i still enjoy every song is great (my favorite song is all i ever wanted because i can sort of relate to what moses was going through)
Have you ever been to a (for lack of words) black church. You always know if the preacher is good because you will hear AMEN being shouted in the middle of the service. My church has a guy who shouts huzzah during the sermon.
I'm so glad and proud that I knew this movie before people started watching this during the pandemic. It was actually my comfort movie when I was such a tiny kid. And the thing what I like about this movie, is no matter what your religion or believes are, you can still enjoy this movie. It's so beautiful 😭
When my wife left me, I lost it all. My money. My credit was shot. I lost friends. But in my season of isolation, I realized in my solitude I still had more than most men could ever have. Now I have been delivered out of it, and the Lord has blessed me more than I could ever know.
These songs are so much more deep and beautiful than modern disney songs. Not to mentioned their voices aren’t heavily altered to be painfully smooth and “perfect”. A voice that sounds real with real qualities sounds so much nicer.
I agree! And about the voice altering, im glad they showed the beauty of his voice without unrealistic editing. It gives more meaning to the song in my opinion .
@arianna1906 but DreamWorks has gone as godless as Disney... This was magnificent for it being Biblical, there's a sense of majesty felt in anything of His people, ngl
This song has been what's kept me going these past several weeks.. I don't know my path, I don't know where I'll end up, but that's okay, because I'm the single thread in the most beautiful tapestry ever in existence.
Keep going. Keep trying. Something greater is on the horizon. I'm not religious and I won't claim to be...but I will say, have faith that things will get better. Sometimes we must struggle and fall down to learn a lesson that will build us up again. We just have to be willing to listen to what life or the universe is trying to tell us. Don't fight the forces. There's a saying that if you make plans and no matter what, everything seems to go bad (it rains, it's too cold, flat tire, etc etc), it's the universe keeping you from a terrible fate. Listen to it. You are seen and loved and cared for, and I send only positive vibes and energy your way. I hope it finds you well and you find yourself smiling soon, from ear to ear. Take care, remember to breathe, don't forget to really LIVE, and stay safe. ♥ Lots of love ^_^
The impressive thing about this scene is that you don't even realize how much time skip they did in less than 4 minutes. By visual cue, it is implied that many years had passed since Moses first attended that bonfire dance. The writers need to get Moses back to Egypt as quickly as possible (because, you know, that iconic scene), but they must also give him enough time in the tribe to experience an emotional transformation. Now consider you only have less than 4 minutes to do that as a writer/animator, how are you going to do that while weaving a musical sequence into the plot? I can see animation students going back to study this film even today.
Well in Exodus...Moses was 40 years old or so when he fled Egypt and spent another 40 in Midian. He was around 80 when he came back to free the Hebrews.
+Zach K (filmbuff95) I can't believe I sortve liked Exodus at first. But then I watched it a second time and realized how awful it was. And I usually don't hate movies. I loved bombs like Jupiter Ascending, The Last Airbender, and almost every Adam Sandler movie. But I cannot stand Exodus or Noah for that matter.
I love how GENUINE Jethro's singing is. You can FEEL the absolute PASSION in his soul as he sings, because he KNOWS that what he's saying is more valuable to Moses than anything that's ever been spoken to him by man, and his heart cannot contain it. The final verse always shakes me; the way he's singing isn't just a song - this song is a prayer, a PSALM. His faith is so STRONG, steadfast, and true. He will never give up his God for anything. You can hear the goodness in his heart echoing through each word, and you suddenly feel welcomed, brought home. You're family now. THAT'S how God's Word is supposed to make you feel. Magnificent performance. ❤
The Prince of Egypt is an animation masterpiece, as The Road to El Dorado, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas are... They will not be forgotten...
I think that's partly due to this movie being more of a "calling" in that they felt it was a story that should be told, so they threw a lot more focus and attention into the production than is put into movies where you're focused on profit and rushing to get it into theaters, getting your toys it into the Happy Meals, and, these days, making the video game that's supposed to be released simultaneously. So they really wanted to make this movie more than they wanted to just make money.
What do you mean Religion aside? also DreamWorks would never make a movie like that these days, the nation as become more and more anti Christian as the years go by, that's why I love movies like these, a reminder of a time where movies didn't suck as much and you could make a Bible movie that was cool XD
I love the way they animated Zipporah as she looks at Moses at 0:20-0:23. Her look says far more about what she is thinking than words would be able to and I've yet to see such attention to how people relate to each other through facial expression in later animated movies
"And to one lost sheep a shepherd boy is greater than the richest king." As a born-again Christian this lyric hits different. I was a lost sheep, and the Good Shepherd found me and saved me, and He is the King of Kings, but to me, He is the most important person in my life
@@-chenlanying5818 The one who protects you and leads you back to safety is greater to you than some distant ruler no matter how more powerful that ruler may be.
@Doppelganger D So much of the Old Testament points to Jesus Christ and the people of the New Testament are aware of that, the majority of His followers at the start were Jewish after all and all that wrote the Bible are Jews part from Saint Luke. It's a whole story that ----> Jesus 👑
I have a friend of whom I met over the Internet. We have spoken for a long long time & one day he felt like he was loosing his battle with depression. He told me his life had no meaning and I showed him this song and I told him to listen. He is an atheist and I a Christian. He came back a few minutes later and felt much better. It gave him hope. Years later, I lost my older brother to an OD. I was, and still am devastated. One day, I felt myself slipping away (if you know what I mean) and to distract myself I went on UA-cam. On my recommended list was "Through Heaven's Eyes". I decided to watch it and needless to say, my eyes were opened to how my life plays a role in the Lord's plan. I love this song just so much.
Keep on fighting for others and the beautiful gift God gave you which is life, bro. That is amazing! We need more people to follow your example. Maybe, the United States would become actually unified and stop all of the craziness that's happening now. God bless you!
+Donavan Boykin One can only hope that the racism, stereotyping and violence that plagues our country stops soon. Unfortunately I don't think it plans to.
My favorite part of this Song is the added detail of Moses enjoying dancing but he dosent know how maybe he thinks he'll embarrass himself or is just bad but he likes it and we see him be awkward and nervous while dancing BUT when he gets married he's so happy and full of love and joy he starts dancing with his now wonderful wife just a lovely little detail
Luke Johnston no it literally talking about blessings. dont forget the meek are inheriting the earth. not the strong, not the cowards, but the remnant of servants and theres a scripture that God said the servant is the greastest amoung you.
Luke Johnston Matthew 23:11-15 King James Version (KJV) 11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. 13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. 14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. 15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. the people who flaunt their authority are actually gentiles..
Luke Johnston no. there's people in this world that flaunt their authority and abuse "the help" and God said these people will have the biggest crowns and mansions in heaven and inherit the earth.
as an atheist, it's often bugged me how people go "this is really good despite being a bible movie", or something to that effect. There is no "but" about this movie. The bible has epic stories that have a point for the believers, and this movie would NOT be as good if it didn't take that religiousness seriously. This movie is moving BECAUSE it's about faith. Whether or not I believe doesn't matter. I enjoy seeing other people's beliefs (I actually love the Hindu faith the best because their stories and gods feel so human to me), and if Moses means this much to people, then how can you NOT be moved?
Agreed. Watched this as a kid from a religious point of view, and came back it with a non-religious one. Even with those changes, I still love the message of the story. It's always going to be my all-time favorite biblical film.
evilhopscotch also its one of the only movies that consulted various religions before making it, not only one. Im not religious and i know Its a great movie amazing actually, its also very historically accurate!
evilhopscotch That was one of the most moving things I’ve ever read. Makes my lil’ Christian heart flutter! You should seriously think about reviewing films and books!
I have a gigantic amount of respect for the ancient greek myths because of the lectures on human nature you find in them. Of course i, as a non-believer, have also a gigantic respect for the stories of the judeo-christian faith! They are more than just “stories”, even as metaphors they have really deep meanings and commentary on the human condition! Heck, the hole story of moses can be seen as a tale of hope among dozens and dozens of meanings... it’s simply fantastic and incredibly entertaining to think about this stories
One of the most beautiful sequences in a beautiful movie. Moses' entire life had been destroyed with the discovery that everything he'd believed was a lie- and now he gets to build a new one, with the aid of new friends and the woman he grows to love. You could almost make a entire movie out of the events of this montage alone.
I love the scene where Moses and Tzipporah are talking to Jethro and Tzipporah seems to argue with Jethro, and then Jethro just shrugs and hugs them both. We know that Moses and Tzipporah were asking permission to get married, but the scene still makes you wonder what they were specifically saying. XD
I haven't seen this movie in over 15 years and I'm already getting teary eyed and swept away by the same magic I felt as a child :') What a masterpiece
I wish people danced like this again. We have created a new gruesome culture that varies greatly from this form of dancing and singing. This is just so fluid and free. It is so fun to watch it, let alone trying it out for myself.
Never knew how profound the lyrics were to all these songs as a child. Now when i hear them and actually listen I can't help but tear up a bit. The need to create more work like this.
Some of my most cherished memories were going to the few Jewish celebrations I've had the pleasure of attending. There's nothing like the joy you experience when you're at them. The dancing is thrilling, the music is enchanting, and the love in the room cannot be contained.
I've had the pleasure of attending Passover Seder at a Messianic Jewish church. As well as hearing the story of Esther read aloud. The joy and community of the people can simply not be contained and it takes on a new tone with them knowing in their hearts that their Messiah really has come for them. As though all their long history of suffering and hard labor has truly been worth it. One of the church members is even old enough to remember living in East Germany. Her family escaped the Holocaust only to live through that nightmare. She is just blind in her joy though. Whatever new thing comes over the horizon, she knows that it's all taken care of.
@Robert Lombardo messianic Jews are not Jews and they just appropriate all our rituals and customs then twist them to make them Christian. It is disgusting. Next time try and see if you can be invited to a Jewish seder not a bastardized version of it
@@rowan-m8850nope, it's fulfillment. The Pharisees missed it, the temple was destroyed, and the Gentiles had to take up the mantle of prophet and priesthood to the Nations. Now we get to see God's glory and miracles, God has personally healed my body overnight in the name of Jesus/Yeshua ❤ and of course the Jews that turned back to him and away from man's traditions, and receive the Messiah
*"The answer will come to him who tries to look at his life through Heaven's eyes"* that hit hard. Im trying to make God proud. Always trust in Him and accept what he tests you with. -he hates me- *he's testing me*
it's why I love this movie... they stated they wanted the MESSAGE put through... you don't need a religion... just an open mind to being better... and this movie offers a PERSPECTIVE... not a "follow me or die" perspective like today's ISIS or the pasts Egyptian pharaohs for servitude... no religion or belief is ever perfect... why we must embrace as much as we can
This somehow always ends up making me cry. I love this positivity, the singing and the dancing, this happiness that comes from loving your life even if it is simple and not at all extraordinary. I adore the overall message, and it just makes me feel so much better about my own life and choices. I'm not deeply religious, if at all, but still, this is one of those few things that make me see the world differently.
This song makes me tear up! Ive been going through so much and this helps me just see my problems as temporary . The part that talks about losing everything being the birth of a new life really got me. I hope if you are struggling today, or any day this song finds you. I will remind myself to look at my life through Heavens eyes!
I am no longer Christian but this movie and THIS song specifically hit so deep. I love it. And I love the amount of research went into making this movie. No Matt the path you walk this movie is a beautiful creation
Come back to the heavenly father brother, he loves you and is waiting for your return! Jesus is coming back soon, hallelujah! Powerful message. Don’t measure your worth or anyone else’s by what they own or have accomplished. See your value as God does … created in His own image!
I cannot tell you how much this song means to me. It gives me hope every single time. People will always have things to say about me. And sometimes it really hurts. So I think about how God sees me. *And whatever loser status I have, feels like it goes down by FIFTY!* ((That sounded better in my head. Oh well, God still loves me anyway))
this song also makes me feel happy :) as an oddball myself sometimes it can be hard when everyone treats you like an alien but once you learn to not care what they think life is full of fun :D also once others start to not care then everyone gets to have as much fun as everyone else no matter how weird they are XD (now who wants to go down a hill on a skateboard on their belly XD i know i do)
Just think of people with high reputations, Like that one smart guy in the wheelchair who speaks in a robot voice as he types stuff(sorry i always keep forgetting his name), Obama, um, a bunch of other ppl who we believe r right cuz of their reputation. Guess what? That don't mean shit in heaven!
I'm autistic, 22, have severe depression, have never had a girlfriend, & am a victim of severe cyber bullying. I've doubted my self worth more than anyone. This song is inspirational to me.

I would argue the message is a lot broader than that. What I took from this is that while you may feel insignificant, so does most everyone else. And together, all that insignificance comes together to mean something in society and in life. Everyone together creates meaning and purpose.
The opening line of the song gave me so much hope and promise as a kid whenever I was feeling like I wasn't useful. I remember all throughout middle school when I felt worthless I reminded myself that I'm like the single thread and God sees my purpose and knows my worth. Corny and weird I know but that basically explains me as a child and now.
I really loved this movie a lot as a kid, and I didn't even know it was supposed to be religious until I watched it again last year. This is still my favorite song from it. ;)
Still a great movie; focused far more on delivering a wonderfully crafted story with great songs and beautiful animation than trying to get across religious values (though those came through clearly as well).
I'm no longer religious but still love this song as well. I like that it manages to be uplifting without being overtly religious. "Through Heaven's eyes" could mean through the eyes of whatever diety/ies you believe in, or it could just mean to take a "bird's-eye view" of your life and be mindful how your actions affect others.
ServentOfTheSon Yes, we know. And the name I think you were trying to say is Jeshuah ben Joseph, commonly known as Jesus Christ today (though Christ is a title meaning "Messiah" and not actually a name). But what Copper D is trying to say is that the film made an effort to make this story MORE universal than simply for everyone who believes in Christianity. As Christians of all various sub-faiths only cover about 33% of Earth's population, with Islam covering another 21% and Judaism covering only .22%, that means that a full 55.88% of the planet does NOT believe in the God of Abraham. Thus, I find it appropriate that though this movie does tell a tale common to all Abrahamic religions, this song nonetheless remains vaguer on the matter, and therefore more universally relevant.
I think he's an early poc ancestor of Santa Claus in Rise of the Guardians, and I find that coincidence amusing. Both are badass, cool old people in their own right.

@@meganweaver2409 bet he was also an ideal husband
They do exist. Brian Dawkins and Kurt Warner are such men to this day.
Hmm long beard, big guy, soothing voice hmm yes I sense a protective character (Hagrid,Ben kanobi,Atticus,Milligan)
He's a great character. Wise and gentle and kind with a strong presence. He had everyone's respect.
It's amazing how Jethro quotes, "A single thread in a tapestry makes the pattern of the grand design...the stone that forms the base creates the mighty mountain," while Pharaoh scolds Ramesses, "One weak link can break the chain of a mighty dynasty".
Jethro is a grade A dad, Pharaoh is not.
Jethro's is more constructive, Seti's is more destructive.
I️ read I️t in his voice
"If a man lose everything he owns, has he truly lost his worth? Or is it the beginning of a new and brighter birth?"
Remember this line, because we will endure hardships, all of us.

What did the social edge people like me do to offence to the world, why should we responded the pain of this
Just shows life is a dance that we all join in time
That's the trick.
The part where moses joined in on the dance used to stress me out as a kid. I was so worried he wasn't gonna know the moves.

Yeah they should make more of these
True, most Biblical movies (*most* not all) make me cringe. They just aren’t good enough
What a beautiful movie this is.
A little background info for those who are interested, just things that make this movie even better:
Jeffrey Katzenberg, the founder of Dreamworks, while working for Disney, has always wanted to do a Bible adaptation, but the then leader of Disney did not want that.
Yeah, and then Disney fought to buy out dreamwork to stop him, and eventually did buy out dreamworks, what a disgusting shame!
By "leader of Disney," you mean Michael Eisner, right? The feud between those two is legendary.
@@Jurgan6 I don't know who it was exactly, just that he was the head of disney at the time
He also consulted Jews not just Christians and Muslims

Smite! Smite!!!"

Well said 100% Theres so many people on earth that need to here this.
truly, I wish more could see this
I was about to write this!
I have watched this movie so many times and every song is a treasure. I like how he gradually becomes part of the community as he's ready.

A lot better than Charlton Heston's comedic graying after the Burning Bush in the Ten Commandments.

Amen
Religion aside, it's *very* evident that a lot of effort and care was put into making this movie. Shame it's kind of a forgotten classic, though.
The Prince of Egypt is an animation masterpiece, as The Road to El Dorado, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas are...
They will not be forgotten...
flu1989 YES! All those animated films are fantastic!
Philip Paul The 90's, man those were the days...
This song always makes me smile. Through its message and its beautiful sound, it will always brighten my day.

I love the way they animated Zipporah as she looks at Moses at 0:20-0:23. Her look says far more about what she is thinking than words would be able to and I've yet to see such attention to how people relate to each other through facial expression in later animated movies
Micah M. she’s shocked because she earlier called him a spoiled brat
This film is a mark stone in quality of facial movements in animated film. Even now, this film is a visual marvel.
Micah M. Every facial expression in this movie is so telling yet subtle.
That look on her face is when she realizes he's not all bad 😂

Bless you, luv. :3

I always interpreted it more that he doesn't feel worthy of joining that community. Once he gets married, he feels like he can really join in.
Moses and Zipporah are adorable together.

as an atheist, it's often bugged me how people go "this is really good despite being a bible movie", or something to that effect.
You seem like a cool person. :)
One of the most beautiful songs ever made. Also Jethro's character design is amazing, he just oozes kindness and wisdom
How I wish we seen more of him is how I feel towards seeing more of Tug in Brother Bear
I feel that regardless of whether or not you're religious, this song is quite inspirational.
ya cause most of what the priest sings is not solely wise for Jews or Christians but wisdom and philosophy for all mankind :)
Amen to that. Like the song says, you can't judge someone's value by their material items, they should be valued by their character and morals.
teddy9063 Yeah I see it as a song all about keeping things in perspective.

XD
I'm pretty sure it would be something like "DUDE MARRY US OR I'LL LEAVE!!!"
"Thats why papa said shell never get married" hahahaha
When she points at him I think she was saying something to the extent of “you always say I should get married so here you go!”
Moses: *being very polite and not knowing how to approach this very importent man he respects*
Tzipora: "LiSTEN HERE WE'RE GOING TO GET MERRIED"
Probably something like “You thought I would never get married, but here we are”😂

Ohh man this brings back memories of my child hood synagogue

I would argue the message is a lot broader than that. What I took from this is that while you may feel insignificant, so does most everyone else. And together, all that insignificance comes together to mean something in society and in life. Everyone together creates meaning and purpose.
Well you would be wrong then.

It's not corny, it's beautiful! :)
Copper D
This film is About The God of Abraham, Isak, and Jacob, one of his names are Yesus Christ.

When all you've got is nothing
There's a lot to go around
No life can escape being blown about
By the winds of change and chance
And though you never know all the steps
You must learn to join the dance
You must learn to join the dance

By what he builds or buys?

Thanks for the lyrics.
Yeet thank you king
I just finished rewatching this movie and continue to love it. Something I liked was that Ramses was never truly evil, rather it was that he was so guided by Egyptian tradition that he ignored any sense of personal virtue, unless it was solely about Moses.
Solely focused on his fathers footsteps
