God Help The Outcasts

- The song "God Help the Outcasts" is a soft ballad sung by Esmeralda inside Notre Dame after she sees how Quasimodo and her people are treated by society. It replaced another song, "Someday," which was cut when the directors wanted a quieter song in a cathedral.
Heidi Mollenhauer is best known for her role as the singing voice of Esmerelda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. - Фільми й анімація
Esmeralda: I wonder if you were once an outcast too?
Jesus: Oh honey.......
People often forget this though.
Whyd i laugh so hard-
I mean, didn't she ask a Maria statue?
Not Jesus?
@@katziliaf both we’re, but she asks to God to help the outcast since he is the only one who has that power. The statue was of both Maria and Jesus.
@@martimtorres9093 Yes I saw that. Though, if God has all the power, it makes question why people pray to Maria and Jesus in the first place. Especially Jesus. Dude basically made it clear that we were all God's kids and he was just there to spread the message, but oh well
Something I only recently noticed...she's praying for her people and walking in the opposite direction of those praying for themselves.
Ooh, good catch.
Just shows that there are very few people in this world who truly care about others.

This is such a underappreciated song. It shows just how, inherently, good Esmeralda is. Most Disney heroines have 'I want' songs where they long for things like 'a prince' or 'adventure' or 'their own restaurant' (which aren't bad things to ask for!), but then here's Esmeralda, literally asking/praying for 'peace on Earth' and 'help for the poor'.
It’s even more than that, cause she is trapped. She knows she can’t step outside without being killed, and she likely knows her clock is ticking inside the church as well. Despite that, she actively tells God, “don’t help me, help everyone else.”

1. Imagine being Quasi hearing this. He’s been in the church since he was a baby and he must of heard hundreds of thousands of prayers and most people just ask for themselves. Meanwhile here is the “evil” gypsy, merely asking for mercy upon those who were cast aside and are in pain.
2. This is such a selfless prayer, but it’s even more heart wrenching when you remember her situation. She is currently trapped and has people _actively_ hunting her, and her specifically, wanting to kill her. She steps foot outside the cathedral and she’s as good as dead. Yet she still says, “I ask for nothing, I can get by”. No hesitation either, her heart is immediately thinking of all those people who are hurting.

And it comes directly after other church goers prayed for wealth, fame and glory. At least the woman asking for love didn't come across as a greedy narcissist - anybody who isn't a psychopath wants love, even if some may not consciously realise it, and it's a perfectly reasonable thing to pray for - but she was still asking God to do something specifically for her. Esmeralda didn't ask God - who she might not even fully believe in since she said at the beginning of the song that she didn't know if He was there at all - to give her anything, not even something as pure as love. Her focus was totally on other people.
Esmeralda is an absolute saint. People like her are incredibly rare.
My Italian grandfather found so much comfort in religion and in God. I remembered this song at his bedside when he was dying of liver cancer in hospice. I didn’t quite remember all the words since it had been years since I’d seen the film at the time. He was in an out of consciousness but I tried as hard as I could to sing this to him. I was an absolute mess but everytime I squeezed his hand, he squeezed back. I was the last person he spoke to. He said, “I love you”. Miss him every single day.

Agreed💖
When she prayed in the beginning, asking if God was an outcast too... That made me tear up because Jesus certainly was outcast because he was rejected by his own people. The Creator of the world came to his own planet and nobody recognized him. Even before he was crucified, people cursed him out, called him evil, tried to throw him off a cliff, stone him, betrayed him, run him out of town... even his own flesh and blood family opposed him (but they later came around). And he tell the truth, heal the sick, raise the dead and cast out devils setting people free; kept emptying and emptying himself even onto the cross. If anyone feels completely overlooked and treated like dirt, just know that Jesus knows how you feel. He descended to the lowest of the low and ascended to the highest of the heights. He resurrected and beat Death so even if you feel like you're dying inside, nothing can beat his resurrection power and love. Even when you feel like everything is over and and you want to end the pain, he likes to work in impossible situations to show his glory. He'll never turn away anyone who humbly comes to him, even the broken hearted. He has gotten me through so much pain I'm still here. He's been so patient with me and still gives me another chance. When I trust my situations to him, he works on my behalf and things turn out better than I could have done on my own. Please trust in Jesus today, he loves you don't let any ignorant people in church buildings stop you. They are imperfect people who need Jesus too. Join the club 💪
"When the world hates you, remember it hated me first"
Details I noticed:
1. She walks in the opposite direction of the people praying for materialistic things
2. While the others are almost entirely engulfed in shadow, Esmeralda is mostly in the light. (Also, the others' hands are in the dark when they raise it while praying)
3. She says to the Virgin Mary "still, I see your face and wonder, were you once an outcast, too?" and then later she walks past a relief of "Flight into Egypt" where Mary was a homeless refugee fleeing for the life of her son.
beautiful observations.
I love how Jesus was an outcast, and now she is asking for his help as an outcast, and Quasi is also an outcast who finds comfort in the arms of Notre Dame's walls of sanctuary.
All prophets was outcasts because they came with a message about ONE GOD only which in the beginning made people angry. So all prophets/messangers had to go through that.
@Michael Gold It wasn’t about being a SJW, it was about rescuing people from eternal damnation in Hell and as Jesus put it “that they may know the one true God through Jesus Christ his Son.”
@Michael Gold Jesus asked Peter “Will you also go away?” And he said “ye have the words of eternal life to who shall we go”. Jesus, Peter, and the other disciples didn’t stay in the faith and soon be killed because they thought it was the socially acceptable or nice thing to do. They wanted to know the God who created them. It wasn’t about being a good person but being redeemed out of no merit of our own and without following “treat others as you want to be treated” (though he taught it because it was a good rule to live by and was a law of the Old Testament)
We are all Outcasts, we rose against God and were thrown out of Eden.

This movie is incredible, because the hero was not defined by his good looks but by his beautiful personality alone. The main character has a platonic relationship with the heroine. +Grace Nern Platonic? Perhaps it's because I haven't watched in ages, but I thought he had quite the boner for her.
+Grace Nern It also helps that it doesn't vilify religion either. This song in particular shows both the best and worst of faith. Frolo was also unique in that his villainy wasn't because of greed or evilishness, he actually thought he was doing the right thing (except the whole Esmerelda thing... that he knew he was doing the wrong thing but couldn't stop himself)
Esmeralda was a TRUE christian. She wanted help and save her people and she put their needs before her own even though sge was an outcast. Quasimodo was also an outcast. Society rejected him by mocking and humiliating him at the Festival of Fools and yet he STILL helped them in the end. Quasimodo decided to turn the other cheek. That shows how selfless and merciful Quasimodo was.
Esmeralda and Quasimodo were TRUE Christians. Unlike FROLLO, who merely used RELIGION and his position of power for his own selfish purposes EVEN if it ment harming and killing innocent people. Esmeralda and Quasimodo were REAL Christians. Frollo was merely a WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING.

This movie was powerful because it eloquently looked at religion - it showed those forsaken (Quasi, Esmerelda) and those who believed, and those who interpreted for their own selfish reasons (Frollo). Even though I'm not religious it still hits me when I watch this film - people of faith can use their faith to make a difference, some do it for good, others for bad, but we should all do our best to take care of one another and think about our fellow man. Probably one of the last Disney movies to say the word “God” let alone a whole ballad dedicated to Him. Beautiful song, very moving and I’ve never watched this movie before! I never knew this scene or song existed
I thought we all were children of God. - That line hits home everytime, and such a powerful reminder of how we should treat one another with love and respect.
Amen!
“I ask for nothing, I can get by. But I know so many less lucky than I,” one of the most selfless and powerful words ever spoken by a Disney character. Why can’t Disney try to make more meaningful stories than what they have now. It’s so sad how much the quality of Disney’s work has diminished as the years pass. I can’t bring myself to feel inspired by any words sung or spoken in any modern Disney film. I keep coming back to the originals that have much more meaningful stories and more powerful messages.
Most in her situation would’ve been freaking out begging God to help them. That just makes it so much more impactful to me.
I really found the Frozen series to be very impactful since I am Pagan. Its wonderful to have representation.
@My name is Irrelevant Bro, wtf did I do to ruffle your feathers?😂 Paganism is an umbrella term for many religions, and I fall into the Celtic Wiccan Witch category. I'm not a troll, just enjoying the comments and talking to people. Take a chill pill. Paganism is religion and there are lots of people who are simply Pagan.
@My name is Irrelevant Okay, well if I'm wrong educate me instead of telling me to "fuck off". Why am I wrong? I'm here trying to have an intellectual conversation and be kind.
@My name is Irrelevant Okay, well I said virtually the same thing back to you. Whatever though. I hope you have a great day! Blessed Be!
I agree with Psycho Senpai. This is one of the most selfless songs the Disney Princess' have ever sung. I mean _ever._ Tiana only wanted that resturaunt to live her dead daddy's dream, and she was trying so hard. Mulan wanted to help her father, a crippled man. These three are true princesses. They didn't want love, or to become a princess, even. They just wanted to help someone to do something they couldn't.
Exactly

what about belle, she sacrificed herself to help her father and so she stayed in the castle

Hell yeah, Esmeralda is the best Disney princess. Meg, Elsa, and all others have nothing on her.

Esmerelda’s one of the most underrated disney characters. Her whole character screams selflessness, she just wants peace and safety for her people
I love how this song is so softly sung. Other people who cover it usually try to make it more powerful, but honestly listening to this song, it brings me tears hearing how helpless and sad she sounds.
I also love how soft and quiet this version is. Its sung like a prayer, a plea for God to show mercy and love to those who have been rejected by the world like her and quasimodo. Absolutely beautiful
I love it because she’s in church and and it’s to herself
Sung like a prayer

I used to hate religion, but what I truly hated was the actions of bad people who didn't live for the original message of Jesus. I am now a Catholic convert, and the deep mystery of it all humbles me and makes me cry at times for joy. Yes, Jesus was an outcast too, and all he wants from us is our heart. He knows you by name. He doesn't shame you for your struggle like a hypocrite would. He wanted to endure horrible pain ... for you. Jesus is not the symbol of the wealthy and noble, but he has always routed for the poor. Hahah, it was the popular and rich whom he challenged during his life, even when it was dangerous. He sees YOU. He understands you more than your tormentor does, and is capable of more than we can imagine. When the fake "holy"/rich/ popular/ intimidating/ people harass you, just know that he is on the side of YOU, the oppressed. I hope this message meets people who need it. ❤️

@Noah Scheid Greatest Of All Time
@Noah Scheid No problem. I always try to reply anyway so no worries.
I know she’s not a Disney Princess, but… she is the most deserving of the title. This song is so beautiful because it is so raw and relatable. I have no other way of describing it. The part where she sings, “I shouldn’t speak to you,” makes me think of how many people there must be in the world that feel or believe that they are so low or such an “outcast,” even in God’s eyes, that they aren’t worthy to speak to or be heard by God. But that’s the thing- we aren’t worthy. But despite all we have done, not done, etc, He made a way and showed grace and mercy to all of us. So, it doesn’t matter where you are coming from in life, how far you have come or how much baggage you brought with you, if you have abandoned your faith, or if you never had faith to begin with. He listens to the broken hearted and the lost. His Word says that He did not come to save who are “worthy” or who are already saved, but that He came to save the suffering and lost. He does listen to your prayers, whether you believe you are unable to be forgiven or heard by Him, despite who/what the world says you are. He loves you. And it’s hard, impossible even, for me to understand it. But I don’t have to because I know, even without understanding it, that it’s true. I know it’s true by how He has shown it to me. By how I feel His presence and power when He comforts and strengthens me when no one else and nothing else does or can. I know because I can’t deny that I do.
To be fair whole term, Disney Princess was never really a good classification. And currently, and now they're to glamorize glamorize it like modern woman did Feminism. However its thr fault of the cutrent directors and writers Disney has on a leash. Esmerelda was unique in her own right as she didn't fall into usual character norms. And compared to their modern and current characters, she is far above them.
@Sarah_A_Day Sorry but your words made me sad. (Not angry. Although I consider myself an Atheist, I'm not "immoral, arogant, angy" as Christians like to name Atheists. Every day I follow post-christian morals and laws, and I'm not justly proud of myself, as I have done some sins) Going back, I mean those words: "He does listen to your prayers, whether you believe you are unable to be forgiven or heard by Him"
Oh, really? I have a feeling that only christians who didn't went through enough pain or sado-masochist can say such thing. Because if He listens, why nothing changes? Should we take the pain, as some say, or pray harder? Well, I have prayed for ten years and I got nothing. I don't mean that I prayed for material things, of course, but for help. And don't tell me that I should've done something myself, as I tried HARD. But as a kid, I was unable to change another person for better. Prayers did nothing. Teachers did nothing. Worse even, I got bullied in school, even teachers disliked me because of my "bad behaviour" (which turned out to be ADHD, not "evil spirit". My ADHD was caused by my ancestors love to vodka). Furthermore, as I have studied bible and other text, I found actual God is not described as so merciful, only bloody murder and Jewish god of war. I added church's corruption to my list of doubts, and I decided. It's not like I don't have time for god, or as god is not trendy, as priests often say. I have better reasons.
I think esmeralda should be considerd a disney princess. Because she is a sort of leader to her people. And she is realy selfless, kind and brave. I find it sad that this movie is so underated. It is one of my favorite.
Sorry for my bad grammer
Liza Kirchyunger I believe there was once a time that she was officially included in the Disney Princess line-up. But the reason that she got eliminated was that she was a bit "sexualized" in the "Hunchback" movie, and the movie was rather dark and it focuses on rather scary, serious and mature themes, so Disney stopped including her in their "Princess" franchise, because I guess they felt she was too "adult".
@@victoriamadridano1016 well that sucks because I love her!

If you were to compare Esmeralda and Frollo to a Biblical parable, it would definitely be the Pharisee and the Tax Collector. Because Frollo hardly acknowledged he had any sin and believed he was always righteous, even if it was plain and clear he wasn't; Esmeralda, on the other hand, fully acknowledged she wasn't perfect, but at least prayed with a humble spirit.
Exactly 💯👏
I think the Good Samaritan is a better comparison because of cultural context, but that might be a better match for this scene.
They also both pray in song and the juxtaposition is CHILLING. He prays to Mary to burn her in hellfire should she not choose him and she prays to Mary for her people. This movie is a work of art and I wish Disney still made films of this quality.
_I ask for nothing, I can get by. But I know so many less lucky than I._ That shows how kind-hearted Esmeralda is, she doesn't even pray for herself

Beautiful. So much in just two lines.
What is so beautiful is that God wants us to be like Esmeralda, kind, humble, selfless, generous, asking for others and not for herself. Sadly people twist God's words and look for their own gain and confuse many to think God is only God for certain people, that others people don't deserve to have God's blessings. If that situation were real, Esmeralda's prayer would have been the only one God heard. It was so genuine, sincere and full of love.

This song makes me cry, because when she sings about wondering if Jesus was an outcast, I always think, she's the only one who has Christianity anywhere close to right in this movie. Jesus certainly was an outcast. God is loving and merciful, not mean and hateful.
+Super Rachel Jesus WAS the outcast when romans kept things under control by banning with the jewish leaders who used their power to oppress their own people by creating a class system. Jesus was an outcast because he pulled down social barriers and helped everyone. this is why religion and politics should be seperated
Scott Buckley Yep, and as we see what happened with the Catholics, when religion is in politics, the people in it become corrupt and twist the religion to fit what benefits them.
Eh, even the other Abrahamic religions aren't any better in that aspect. Where there's a hierarchy and power structure, corruption will rear its ugly head. Then of course there's all the ugliness that occurs between different interpretations of the same religion, I mean look at what the Protestants and Catholics did to each other.

I know the 1st Greatest commandment of Christ is to Love God with all our Might, but to correctly do so we must Love others and ourselves which is Also the 2nd Greatest commandment. Both of those loves must be made strong... We really cannot have one without another just like no one can survive with just a Biological Brain or just a Biological Heart. If one is missing we would die. We need Both to Live. The same applies to Christ's 2 Greatest commandments.
Love must be given freely. You can't love at command.
get rid of the word 'feel's and do something about it.
So true. It's exactly the same for me.
Well. People that are different are treated terribly back then, and still are these days. 'I know so many less lucky than I' no one helped those that are different back then, and somewhat these days, but not good enough. And if you try to do something about it, you'll probably get assassinated like those who were trying to help. Helping those different is harder than you think. We could try, all together, but all together means EVERYONE, against those that harm those different. But yes... not many people are smart enough to help. We got this generation to fix things... and many more to come. But maybe never, we'll be together, and help those in need.
The line "I thought we all were the children of God" hit me and brought tears to my eyes. I pray for all the outcasts out there to come to know the Lord and accept Him as their Savior today.
Not all Outcast doesn't know and Accept Christianity but people from different faiths wants there Prayers to be answered (whether locals, indigenous,Islam, Polytheistic religion, Athesim etc)
To me? I'm not sure
I'm not even religious, but the absolute selflessness of this song makes me cry every single time without fail. All I want to do is sing along with the song, but I can't do that when I'm choking on my tears!
This song is extremely powerful, and for many reasons.
In the beginning, Esmeralda speaks to a statue of Mary and Jesus going by the notion that she shouldn't speak to her because Esmeralda, herself, is an outcast. It's ironic in the sense that though they are venerated as some of the greatest people to ever live, both Jesus and Mary themselves would be like outcasts (Jesus more so in this case as they eventually crucified him in the end). It's a touching and sad moment when you realize that Esmeralda believes she isn't worthy to speak to Jesus himself because of his status, when in life he accepted all people regardless of where they came from (from the disabled, to people of different ethnicities, nationalities, and age).
Another point to go over is when Esmeralda does not ask for anything of herself, stating she can get by with what she has already and, rather, prays for others who are more downtrodden in life than she is. This is, honestly, one of the best parts of the song. Gypsies weren't normally Christians, and when given the chance to ask God for something, she passes up the opportunity to pray for both material possessions as well as general needs for herself, but instead the needs of those less fortunate then her.
A final note are the others praying in the church - a modern reflection of Christianity today. There are many in today's world that pray just like the folk in the song do - for material possessions and temporary pleasures in life. While it is nice to have such things, it's not always necessary (I say 'not always' because there truly are people who need money to get by I life, and even a stable connection of love with anyone to keep themselves sane and it's okay to admit that). But today the faith is going in a direction where we're too focused on the things of the world, whether it's fame, money, love. It's not wrong to want those things, but when it corrupts you, you lose sight of what's important.
To end off this long comment, I wish you all the best in life. Stay safe out there.
the raid was boring so now i have to do it myself

Why won't Disney touch religion like this anymore? It's touching, uplifting and warms the heart. There are so many adventurous and touching stories of faith that would resonate with millions of families. This song is truly moving and touching.
Communists don't believe in God.
It wouldn't make money, religion of any kind is too fraught with hate and othering and politics
Because when they did, it was the RELIGIOUS people who got mad. Christians boycotted this movie. If people of faith are angry that Disney won't touch religion anymore, they have only themselves to blame for that.
@@vintagearisen I'm a Christian and watched this movie for the first time ever a few months ago, and it's honestly one of if not my favorite Disney movie now because of how mature it is and also how it almost feel Christian. I haven't read the book the movie is based on, but the movie itself blew me away. While it is drug down by what almost feels like corporate interference to preserve an image(The garogyles), when this movie chooses to delve into mature topics like Christianity or Frollo's entire character, it excells. If anything, it surprised me how respectful this movie was to Christianity even though its villain is a completely opposite representation of what a Christian should be. While I myself am not Catholic, the Arch Deacon clearly shows what a Christian(or in this case, a Catholic specifically) should be like as a contrast to Frollo. Even in the climax, he tells off Frollo for his assuault on the house of God! If this type of movie was made now, I feel like that type of character wouldn't exist and the message would just be "Oh Christianity is bad," which is unfortunately what a lot of out of touch Christian adults thought based on your comment(I wasn't alive when this movie released, so I'm taking your word for it). It's sad to me as a Christian that movies that are Christian or touch on Christianity in respectful and mature ways like Hunchback here get frowned upon, mostly because a couple of older pastors or something see anything other than what they're used to as evil or a terrible representation of Christianity. And while there are terrible representations of Christianity EVERYWHERE in media now, not every piece of media that mentions or shows it is doing it with malicious intent and that fact is sadly overlooked.
Because so many companies do do an awful job at representing Christianity or just make it a mockery in their media, it does leave a lot of Christians including myself apprehensive about seeing things that aren't techically Christian(Like Hunchback) tackle Christainity because we've grown to expect the worse. I do my best to keep an open mind, however, and encourage this type of thing. Hunchback is special to me for several reasons, and again, its exploration of Christianity is one of them. Had this movie been marketed as what it truly was and not just "The Feast of Fools," then maybe people would have not been taken so aback and actually watched it and not immediately seen it as an attack on Christianity because the movie was promised to be much more lighthearted than it actually was. If anything, typing this essay of a comment makes me wanna create my own Christian media more than I already wanted to, whatever form it'll come in.
At the end of the day, I'd be happy actually to see Disney make more movies touching upon Christianity. The only issue is that in this day and age, someone in the pipeline would probably try and misrepresent it and kill whatever good intentions existed. Only the future will tell.

+Zoe Anne Gouriet God has many names such as Elohim, Abba (meaning Father) and a few others. Simply saying God, Master or Lord acknowledges him as well. The point is they mentioned the Christian God. Most movies and tv shows won't do that because they don't want to upset audiences. So this movie is significant because of that.
Well considering that the movie was named after and takes place a lot in a famous church in France it would be kinda weird if they didn't
+Zoe Anne Gouriet You are actualle wrong, Jehovah is an incorrect translation from the letters YHWH or the combination of two words (Adonai and YHWH), which ever definition you wish to use.

You can't beat nature, for we are made of it.
Eh. This movie has some tone problems. It goes back and forth between dark, deep, broody scenes and Jason Alexander making fart jokes at the drop of a hat. The filmmakers wanted it to be dark and serious but Disney wanted something lighter that was easy to advertise and merchandise, so the result is a bit muddled in places. Part of the reason it performed so poorly upon release is that most of the previews made it look fun and lighthearted, and audiences were very surprised at how dark it turned out to be. I definitely think it's underrated, but people who praise it as the best Disney film ever tend to forget about certain aspects of it. Ultimately I would say it has some of the strongest scenes in all of Disney but is ultimately unable to pull together into a strong cohesive while.
The problem is they couldn’t decide what kinda movie they wanted to make. They had deep and meaningful scenes, but then the gargoyles or whatever were just ridiculous and ruined the movie in a similar way to how Jar Jar ruined the first Star Wars movie 😂 lol
This song and sequence still gave chills! I love Notre dame! As a Catholic this movie means a lot and is one of my favorites. It’s so underrated
So many believers forget how different from them Jesus was. He was a Middle East man who sympathised with the poor, the thieves, the sinners, all to help them. That's why he had such a horrible reputation during his life. He was, to many of his contemporaries, just that broke guy that spent his time with the lowest classes. Oh, and don't forget that he was murdered by the forces of the state.
Can you please help me out on this one because I don't know much about the topic. I often hear that Jesus was ridiculed and hated for spreading his message. But wasn't the crucified because he had too many followers and that scared the authorities?
@@potatoman6556 I'm not an expert, but according to the Religion teacher I had that one year I took those classes, the jews made the romans kill him because he said he was God, and that was blasphemy to them. Yes, he had a lot of followers who did praise him, but those were lower classes, and the upper ones saw either a poor guy or a heretic.
@@tarniabook3076 Jesus never claimed to be God
@@cloud2451 Oh, I looked it up, you're right, he didn't say it, he just implied it, probably without that intent, then the jews misread him and got him executed. I think.
@@tarniabook3076 it was actually quite different, he never committed blasphemy, this poor brave man only channeled messages of love compassion tolerance and wisdom, to the point where he reached a following that threatened his own people’s religious authorities like Pharisees, and then consequently, Romans. With the last ones, it was because he was a preacher and didn’t adhere to paganism in favor of the one true God.
The idea that Jesus is God, came long after his death. I’m sure his soul is very closely connected to the Creator, but to claim them as one and same, not saying it’s impossible cause who knows, but it surely didn’t come out of his mouth, or else he wouldn’t have felt the need to pray to God as well.
"I thought we all were the children of God" probly the most powerful line in this movie and is something i wonder too i mean we are all his children and yet we do bad things to each other i wish we could end all the hate and sadness in the world
I wish the world would just be peaceful.. I wish that not everyone cared about money, fame, or glory. When I pray, I ask for God to bless the people around me. I pray for people struggling to come out of it stronger. I can't help but close my eyes and sing along to Esmerelda's voice.♥
So many people want fame or fortune because of the media’s influence, cause if you have a lot of money or nice things apparently you’ve made it in life when that really isn’t the case. So many people have money but are still so sad because they haven’t done what they wanted to do. This world is slowly dying (literally) and no one is helping out.
We are one people. We just tend to forget it. Or more precisly.. others want us to forget it
"I thought we were all the children of God." Hands down, I think this is one of the most powerful songs that any religious or non-religious person can listen to. (I kind of wish that churches could play this song - to be honest, I feel like I can connect more to God through this song than any other song that churches like to play...)
This song kind a had to be religious because it took place in a church, but it doesn't need to be religious to get across a similar message.
AnimeAndDragons The fact that the song specifically references God means it had religious overtones that can't be papered over and sanitized to be made more palatable to atheists.
I agree.I'm an agnostic yet this is one of favourite songs ever.
katierosefun I am an atheist, but I love this song. :)
so true
I’d say this has to go on the shortlist for the most underrated Disney song there is.
Quasimodo is a definition of Jesus Christ..
An Outcasts but with a pure heart..
