Okay I’m ready for the extended hour long version with all the other Jedi, please Mr Smith
Yes please
Lol yesss I wish. Would love to hear some of his thoughts about LotR too 😂
ALL. Legends and Canon
@@shize9ine There's only one Return and it is of the KING 😂
@@Darroc All right, look, there's only one "Return," okay, and it ain't "of the King," it's "of the Jedi."
Kevin Smith noticeably holding back tears while describing the same things in Star Wars that get me is the most seen I've felt in the past 31 years, 11 months, and 16 days.
I love how you can see Kevin tearing up over the Ahsoka/Vader fight.
I always cry over Star Wars so I get his sentiment
I heard some people complain that Obi-Wan's fight with Vader in Kenobi was just a rehash of the Ahsoka fight with him and yes it's pretty much the same thing, but I think there's a symmetry to those fights. Both Vader's master and his padawan bested him in the same way and each tried to connect with what remained of Anakin in that moment, and both failed to reach him.
Both Ahsoka and Obi Wan each remove part of mask on opposing sides (incomplete reveal) and then its Luke who manages to unmask entirely at end of Return, the completion of Anakins redemption, but following those partial reveals and attempts at his humanity.
Bro I just wish I could SEE the fight
@@austinmeans7294 You might try turning up your monitor's brightness a tiny bit, then.
@@WhatKindOfNameNow Turning up the brightness on a scene that’s not lit or shot well does nothing, everything still blends together. You actually have to mess with your gamma in order to see anything. But thanks for the advice ✌️
It's like poetry, it rhymes
How could you talk about Maul without talking about his Clone Wars adventures????
Came here to say that
Kevins a movie fan
@@Ottophil Yes, but even so he did talk about Ahsoka.
Because Kevin doesn't know anything really bout star wars
Spider-Maul?
He got through it without crying. Amazing.
No he didn't lol
I cried a lot at clerks 3
@@johnnythunders78 Its only 3 minutes in lol
Okay, so can we have Kevin Smith direct a Jar Jar show please
And have Jar Jar swear like a sailor 😂
6:38 THIS
That scene is the catharsis we were denied with The Last Jedi. They got Mark Hamill to come back and play Luke Skywalker and then when he finally steps onto the battlefield he... dodges a few saber strikes and fades away. What? No. We wanted Luke Skywalker to be Luke Skywalker and across the fanbase that episode of the Mandalorian was such a joyous moment, adults everywhere just turned into children again for a moment, it was amazing.
because the term fan-service has become this dirty word. so now they avoid as much as possible
I remember when i watched it no spoilers either which is kinda a 1st when i saw the final ep and saw that I got the child mindset again I was so exicted seeing that and I hope the new season coming out for the Mandalorian now is as good as the rest.
I don't hate The Last Jedi, but it has some problems. I'm kind of with you here. Rian Johnson was not a great choice for this movie.
Plo koon is my favourite, i wish we got more of him
He ripped in the ps1 video games
Clone wars he is kinda active, maybe in upcoming projects?
Man all those prequel Jedi get shafted lol, mundi is the only one who talks in the entire trilogy
Leia?
Luke did train her in the Jedi arts. If Jar-Jar gets a mention then it's a crime to miss talking about Leia.
Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Is it because she might be considered a force adept and not a jedi? But then again, as you said, Jar-Jar was mentioned.
jar jar was a joke. he was doing a bit.
@@jess_n_atx Thank you. Seems like that bit went over so many heads😉
My only criticism is was I wish it was longer 😂 really enjoyed this! And the real emotion all fans feel! 😭
You did Maul dirty, man. Hands down the most tragic character in all of Star Wars.
I still think Obi has him beat. When a character steers closer to being the "good guy" in the story their tragedy holds more weight to me then the "bad guy" with a few exceptions in some stories.
Vader is definitely the most tragic character in all of Star Wars.
@@SheevPalps868 i can see this as a better pick than Maul. I sometimes watch videos analysing his mental health and it's heart breaking. He did horrible unspeakable things and yet you look at his history and you can understand why he's messed up. Doesn't excuse it but it's a very good pick.
@@LeStacheman maybe I’m biased, but when you break his character down I just don’t see how Vader isn’t the most tragic.
He was destined for greatness, yet lost everything. Completely misguided and manipulated for his power and ended up living his life in constant pain and misery.
@@SheevPalps868 i think it's the argument of how much did his mental health affect his decision making and could he have just stopped at any time and be better. That's the only thing that's muddy.
This was fantastic. I want more of Kevin Smith just talking Star Wars.
It would be better if you found someone who actually knows about Star Wars to listen to.
@@kidus_1010 why? There’s plenty of interviews with George Lucas online
@@winklenator what? Did you mean to reply to the original comment?
Please no.
Me thinking about him guest starring on cinema sins. No you don’t.
7:12 i paused and couldn't stop laughing
For anyone like me that avoided the animated shows cuz...reasons. WATCH THEM, they are amazing. Rebels storytelling is some of the best in all of Star Wars. I am working my way through Clone Wars now and it's also very good but Rebels takes you on a ride
Clone Wars season 7 has some of the best star wars ever
I wish they would edit them into a series of films because although I'm a big fan of the live action films, I'm not die hard enough to sit through so much content, especially when animated shows aren't my preference.
I remember someone called Ezra!?🧐🤔
I purposely haven't but, for absolutely no good reason other than because you said to, I will give them a few hours this weekend. I'll get back with the verdict
@@user-td6wy7xe8sWHERES THE VERDICT
I feel like there are so few people who get emotional of the fiction they like, like I do, so it's really nice to see a star wars expert connect with the story like that
4:20 the way he pronunces "count dooku" is a sus flag for me 💀
4:02 he says it perfectly though, so don't worry about it. Kev is 2 years older than me so he grew up it the same time I did, he had Star Wars toys just like I did, he's well immersed in the stuff.
"They really should've just named the character Samuel L Jackson" 😂😂
He had to have written that joke. That was wayyy too funny
My heart broke when we got to ahsoka if I’m being honest. I love her so much. I Stan.
For the record, Maul hated using that move on Qui-Gon; he underestimated him and that's why he resorted to it.
Never been a big Star Wars fan but it seems to be so loved
It is
yeah it's kind of something you have to get into as a kid, I'd imagine it's not easy for an adult to see past all the ridiculousness and laser sword fighting, but when you do, it's a super rich universe that's really fun to explore
You have no idea how many people’s lives have been changed by Star Wars, myself included
I worship star wars
Cmon Kevin. You did Maul dirty. Man comes back not once, but twice. (Though not technically sith when he comes back)
The disrespect to the greatest Jedi of them all, my main man Kanan Jarrus.
"Uncle Ben and Aunt Beru" Poor Owen. Though, that said, Ben would have taught Luke, "With great power, comes great responsibility"
"There has never been a moment where you think 'Grogu wouldn't do that'."
*immediately shows the egg eating scene*
That's bad Grogu. Buuut he would totally do that lol
My problem with Reva wasnt her being black or a female or her acting really (although it was a little over the top sometimes) it was with her story and how it was cut and interlaced with the overall story. The fan edit of the series made it much better, even though the writing of her and her scenes left much to be desired.
1. how does she survive a lightsaber stab to the cut and being left COMPLETELY ALONE on a planet
2. the horrible cut aways to her chasing a child in the middle of the night, during the finale when darth and obi wan are fighting
Plot armor for diversity reasons. Gotta be inclusive in order to ride the equity-train.
Wish you’d covered Lord Momin, great character with a fascinating history and plenty of mysteries left to explore.
Yeah but after lord mormin wrote his own book he just became really religious and pushy
"Cut in half like a sandwich" and "Oh no, that's the new wampa" had me rolling! 🤣
Kevin Smith needs to direct an R rated Star Wars film! Said this for years.
F yeah!!!
Forgot to talk about how much of a badass Darth Sidious is with a lightsaber. Four Jedi masters show up and he straight up slays three of them in about as many moves and then holds his own against Mace Windu
I love how Luke’s intro scene in Mandalorian mirrors Darth Vader’s intro scene in Rogue One
Every Jedi & Sith except: Ezra Bridger, Caleb Dume/ Kanan Jarus, Plo-Koon, Barris Offee, Luminara Unduli, Asaj Ventress, Cal Kestis, The Grand Inquisitor, The other Inquisitors, Savaage Opress, Pong Krell, Jaro Tapal, and countless more.
Not mentioning Ezra (the main character of Star Wars Rebels) is unforgivable.
How did Kevin not make them let him talk about Kit Fisto, the Jedi with the best name in the entire franchise? Maybe it's because he knew he wouldn't have been able to stop laughing.
Kylo, Dooku and Maul fight like warriors. I love everyone on this list (JJ is a Sith, Kevin), but those three stand out, for their real life combat training or experience. The way Kylo kick starts his saber is freaking awesome.
I LOVE That Kevin Said Expanded Universe instead of Legends.
Kevin Smith that was brilliant
I never thought about it until you described it how hot of a sell Yoda must’ve been to the studio. Little did they know George was crafting a masterpiece.
That.Was.Brilliant!! Has me itching to watch .... everything Star Wars related yet again
Obviously there was no way EVERY Jedi could be covered in 13min, especially with Smith's proclivity to go into the most smallest nerdy details.
13 videos, maybe. Get on it Wired.
Jay should’ve been next to him doing lightsaber sounds the whole time…
Snoogins 🥳
🤣🤣🤣
Kylo Ren and Snoke are not Sith. That’s why they don’t have the title of “Darth.” Keep in mind that during this time, Darth Sidius had instituted the “Rule of 1” which meant there could only be 1 living Sith at any given time.
I'm still mad about the lies you said while promoting MOTU.
Trilla is definitely my favorite out of everyone. Complete and utter dominator. Beautiful design and story.
Underrated
if people hated Reva because she was black then why does everyone admires Windu? Why do people love JEJ so much? Why do people love Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka?
Maul was the first sith to kill a jedi in 1000 years. He also dueled a master, sitting council member, and his knight apprentice at once, as his first real duel. All this while being an apprentice, a Darth yes, but an apprentice. He's a monster and a god, not a looser.
I will never forgive you for 'Tusk'
Obi wan kenobi, AND ewan mcgregor, THE BEST thing about jedis and starwars hands down.
These K Smith vids never get old.
The only other person who could this as well would be Patton Oswalt. That "filibuster" on _Parks & Recreation_ is still amazing.
Sam Witwer could out geek both of them when it comes to Star Wars.
technically speaking Kylo is not a sith. Its complicated.
No it's not, he is just a darkside force user, done.
Kevin looks great!
I'm all for casual fandom, and obviously you can't do all the Jedi. But tbh I'm pretty sure that the primary audience of a *15-min*online*video*of*the*Kevin*Smith*listing*force*users* will be *exactly* the 'um, actually' crowd.
Kevin. Give us the Bane Dynasty story movies. Bring in drew as a producer. Directed by John and it'd be the best star wars we've ever seen
Agreed, Luke in the Mandalorian is everything fans ever wanted to see. Just a badass Crux of the force
No mention of Maul at least coming back in the annimated shows? He gets the character development Star Wars fans deserved , but didn’t know they needed back in ‘99
You can’t be an expert, not like me, if you were an expert on my level you’d know that Picard is a better Jedi than Kirk.
What’s that? Wrong universe? Fine. You got me.
Kylo and Snoke are not Sith.
Otherwise great video.
A conversation between Kevin Smith and Patton Oswalt about Star Wars would achieve the equivalent nerd value as Absolute Zero. Like, such a profound critical mass of Star Wars trivia and minutiae, it would form a point of singularity, into which would fall the entire universe, so powerful would be the gravity.
30 seconds in would be enough to compromise the structural integrity of any load-bearing structures beneath them.
5 minutes would cause nuclear radiation detectors globally to read at increasingly dangerous levels.
10 minutes would cause accelerated climate change.
A mere 15 minutes of them out-nerding each other would qualify as a mass-extinction level celestial event.
I feel a disturbance in the force... as if the scumbag who destroyed He-Man has been hired to kick Star Wars while it's down.
Honestly the stinger reminding people the target demo is blatantly not the obsessed star wars nerds who have this much to say about every single jedi or sith was my favorite part of the video.
Kevin Smith has a knack for plain truth delivery, and the way he did that was masterful
He also keeps a spare grenade in his hat just in case
something tells me Kevin Smith is contractually obligated to hype up each and every Disney+ Star Wars movie and series...
That last line of the video was legendary
I think that the best way to think of Jar Jar is as a take on Drunken (Jedi) Master a la old Kung Fu movies. His force power is one of luck and happenstance, and sort of stumbles into good fortune.
THAT was awesome! thanks Mr. Smith! BTW: I got to meet your friend Mr. Mewes in Prince George, BC Canada a couple years back. Hoping you will come to our Fancon too at some point! (unless you did and I somehow missed it... LOL)
Palpatine was also briefly in Rebels at the end of Season 4.
Dante and Rebecca Hicks need to have a word with him on his Han Solo sentiment.
Ashoka is my favorite Jedi. I used to think I would have made an excellent Gray Jedi like her, but then my wife left, and I realized I'd just be another Sith Lord.
Thank you for calling Yoda, an unknown species. Elves, Dwarves, Ewoks, Wookies, Yodas, Humans and so on are different species; not races. That's always been a pet peeve of mine; granted a very nit picky one.
Jeez man
You'd think if she was your favourite you'd spell her name correctly lol
Aw, I’m sorry man. You’ll find someone else!
jedi don't have wives
@@coyscoyscoys2685 No kidding 😬😬😬
How could you omit Leia?!?!?
Leia only attained the level of Jedi in the expanded universe, which he specifically said he wasn't going to talk about.
@@clanpsi so the Jedi stuff she did in the movies doesn’t count?!?!?
3:15 No no no Kevin! DONT YOU DARE APOLOGIZE! this is real to us because we’ve gone through similar stuff our favorite characters did! it’s emotional cause it’s real LUKES LOVE AND FORGIVENESS IS REAL! that’s why you cry, love it, feel it. cause it’s real.
I always thought Mace Windu got a raw deal. George Lucas couldn't figure out what to do with him, so George had the Emperor shove him out a window. Really, George? A lousy ending for a Jedi master.
Wrong maul was also in solo a star wars story and why not diskussion maul in clone wars ?
Kevin smith and I have very different ideas about Star Wars
And what’re your ideas?
@@matthacker3481 that’s between Kevin and I
No Darth Nihilus, Sion or Traya? Not even Revan? >:(
Who is Kevin Smith ???
Kev, you did mispronounce Dooku one time during the vid. All your Star-Street Credit is now lost!!! 😭
😏
Meesa kills is just great
Wow. That video tells a new viewer basically nothing about these characters.
9:42
that audio edit
Sam Jackson has BMF etched onto his lightsaber.
great job. Fantastic take and acknowledgement of the remaining was the icing on the cake!
True MASTER jedi is John Williams. Survived 45years of Star Wars.
Kevin - ya gotta give a little more of a nod to the compelling evidence assembled by the Darth Jar Jar squad, no?
Jedis turned into superheroes ? Great point! If I thought that the prequels eps. 1-3 and even some of episodes 7,8,9 didn't contrast against individual performances so much --some of the characters might reflect better...Darth and Obi and Yoda still the tops!
The part with Jar Jar is what I've been saying for over ten plus years.
"Star Wars? About as American as Paul Revere and about as old as Shakespeare, probably."
-Kevin Smith
Wait, wait:
"Yoda, the *king* of the Jedi!"
-Actually Kevin Smith, like, for real
this was actually amazing
I'm enjoying this low key press push for Clerks 3.
I want him to talk about the batman movies/shows like he did with Spiderman
Always nice to listen to the pov of another Nerd =D But i wish Smith had more time to get to all Force Users. Is it possible he lost quite a bit of weight?
Yes, he dropped the weight after his heart attack almost took him out a few years ago.
@@GrymmSoul Glad he's still with us.
I loved every minute of this!! MORE PLEASE!! :)
Slaughtering the younglings is the single most vile act to ever be put to film
When he was talking about vader getting redeemed and getting emotional it was so stupid, but I relate 100%
nice you left it open for a sequel! ...series maybe even
I find your lack of Kanan Jarrus disturbing.
30 years and still making us laugh. Keep up the good fight dude.
Missa kills ! xD
Totally missed my favorite. Kit Fisto.
Looking at the names of the Jedi/Sith missed reminds me of the random name feature present in KotOR.
I don't need Kevin Smith telling me star wars lore. Thanks anyway
? bro
I can only chuckle at the fact Kevin Smith, Silent Bob himself, respects a non-verbal character like Grogu. I feel like he’s showing solidarity for another non-talker.
