      It's possible that we are all low in Vitamin D because we are covered in toxic sunscreens and our bodies are not able to produce Vitamin D from the little sun we are exposed to. Our bodies combined with sun is the best source of Vitamin D.

    Sensitive topic obviously but it really comes down to one basic fact: we are not meant to drink the breast milk of another animal. It contains growth hormones we do not need, and it does not digest well because we were never meant to consume it. No judgement, just a simple fact :-)

    My only problem with milk is that it's not mine to consume. A mother makes her milk for her baby and the fact that us humans just use it for ourselves is not okay in my opinion. It's horrible how the industries treat the mother.

    In defense of Kristina, two years ago I had a prostate exam that resulted in a high psa number. Having already been through one biopsy two years prior and having another one scheduled after this visit, I decided to research on the internet to see what alternatives I could possibly do. After reading all over about not having another biopsy, I decided to cancel mine. My research led me to change my diet which meant stopping all dairy and meat (yes, going vegan)! I began testing my psa monthly from a home test and watched my psa drop dramatically. Not only that, I dropped weight quickly. No one considered me overweight, but it took the extra fat off me that I didn't need! Do your research on cow's milk! I agree with Kristina....

    I have carefully read several nutritional and medical studies which have concluded dairy products increase bone fractures and rates of cancer. The first study I read was the 12 year Harvard Nurses study published in 1997 in the American Journal of Public Health. The study involved 77,761 women ages 34 thru 59, and concluded that women whom consumed dairy products had higher rates of bone fractures in older age than people whom rarely consumed dairy products.
    As milk because it is designed for a baby cow (it is not meant for humans to drink it is from another species) to grow into an 800 pound adult cow, has high levels of insulin growth factor one, which is a growth hormone. This growth hormone puts humans endocrine system (hormonal system) out of balance. As well it provides fuel for cancer cells, which are cells which are non-stop dividing. There are now countless other delicious and healthier non-dairy milks sold everywhere including almond, coconut, soya and many others. As well dairy cows lead dismal ie. their constantly kept pregnant and their calves are taken from them... lives...something I personally do not wish to support. All the best to everyone, health is true wealth.

      +Sp0rk Try Almond milk there is also coconut milk which is really delicious. I buy the Silk Coconut milk in a two liter carton. I use it in tea, and on my oatmeal. There is also Hemp milk which is sold everywhere too, although I find the taste to be very strong. Cashew milk is an option too. I agree I am not a fan of Soya milk either. Wishing you optimal health, all the best.

      +Justin Rupert Hi Justin your health is your true wealth and you deserve it, so my friend take excellent care of it, like it is a precious gift! There are some items that are based on people's experience, vast medical and nutritional evidence found to be consistently unhealthy for people. ie. Cow's milk is one of them a key factor is the insulin factor one in cow's milk, it is a strong growth hormone which is like rocket fuel for cancer cells. As well milk creates an acid condition when the body metabolizes it due to the high levels of Casein in it, our bodies are healthiest when slight alkaline.
      Also refined sugar and corn syrup are not healthy leading to diabetes, vitamin/mineral deficiencies and hyperactivity. Key also to think optimistically, and honor one's feelings always speaking from your true self, not what others wish to hear but to be true to your own heart. Exercise is key, and as noted kindness to yourself and all creatures great and small. All the best to you, keep shining your light.

    I found a farmer that has organic, grass-only fed cows, and he puts them out to pasture to rest every other year to just be cows after milking them for a year. Grass fed cows have GLA that has been shown to fight cancer. GMO Grain fed cows don't have GLA ... of course, since it is not pasteurized, I have to buy pet milk. ';-)

    GREAT, informational video Kristina! Trying to get people to understand the acidifying effect of milk and how damaging it is to our bones has been a challenge. I've been vegan for 11 of my 60 years. Last bone density test the doctor said I have the bones of a 25 year-old ; ) Prior to eating a vegan diet I was veg and ate a lot of dairy. I had acne, acute sinusitis (excess mucus), constipation and achy joints. Living dairy-free has been the best health affirming choice I've ever made.

    What Kristina is explaining is spot on. Its evident at this day and age that the reason so many of us have an intolerance to lactose is due to the fact that we are over consuming it. If you actually do research on the number of people who had a lactose intolerance several decades ago, you will see that the numbers are far lower than nowadays.

    Milk is ok people. I have not had milk for 15 years or fairly any other dairy (health related), but it has packed it's consequence. I take calcium supplements and plenty almond milk now because I am a female and don't want to develop osteoporosis after children. The fact that we bare children is the #1 reason we get osteoporosis, not milk. Osteoporosis is more gender related than anything else. But milk is not the problem. Ca+2 is a vital element that prevents and treats bone density loss. Milk is not the most beneficial source, but it does contains 30% of an average person's daily need. I like the video, but the link to osteoporosis...not a good dig.

    I have listened to your video Kristina and I have some things to correct you on and state. I'm fully aware of what I put in my body. I have to say that there is medical & scientific evidence against being on only an all raw/vegan diet. There are more people who have lived on the raw/vegan diet and end up nutrient deficient and some have gotten greatly sick. Don't believe it? It is out there if you wish to look for it. You also fail to take into account that some people are allergic to many fruits and vegetables and that other cultures who do consume raw dairy from animals actually have high health - research other cultures in Asia, Europe, etc.

    I have a question that's somewhat personal but i'm really curious about.
    Do you still get your period and is your menstrual cycle normal?
    I'm asking this because most of the foods you eat lack in the nutrients that keep your estrogen hormones balanced, and it can cause infertility! I remember when I went two months with only eating things fruit, veggies, yogurt-related and oatmeal products and my period was gone and abnormal until I realized that I was nutrient deficient and it wasn't doing anything good to my body. If you can answer without feeling weirded out, that'd be great, thanks :)

    • @Skweepa
      @Skweepa 10 років тому

      Just my thoughts here if you're interested. The website called world's healthiest foods can help you find what nutrients you were missing. I am guessing you were calorie deficient, foremost (just a wild guess though). B vitamins, vitamin A (if you have trouble digesting plant forms of vitamin A) zinc and iodine can be hard to get enough with high fruit/veggie diets. (Especially if you are sensitive to greens.) In my opinion, if you eat yogurt, it should have very very little or no sugar (blood sugar problems can mess up all of your systems). Also, grains like wheat and oats almost always contain natural things in them (i.e. tannins) that PREVENT proper digestion of nutrients (even the nutrients they contain). I stick with rice, and otherwise avoid grains most of the time. Plain yogurt (i.e. no sugar) has been scientifically proven to improve digestion of nutrients like zinc (and also improve the functioning of the immune system).

      Skweepa i did stay away from grains like bread! if i had to have bread, i went with whole grain but that's it, and it was very rare when i did it that. i think my problem was i was just eating a lot of different varietys of fruits, oatmeal, yogurt and veggies, and that's all i replied on! if i did eat meat, it would be small portions of chicken. i was missing something in my diet and i lost a lot of weight really fast in a short amount of time. and now i still don't have my period! i maintained my weight now, even gained a couple of lbs, i upped my calorie intake by a lot since i realized i work out a lot and i need the calories, and i added more good fats into my diets (salmon, granola, almonds, all natural peanut butter, etc), and i still don't know what to do! i know i have to be patient, but it's very hard being patient when you're as young as i am and knowing that periods are a sign of a healthy body. i'm trying to set up an appointment with my doctor as soon as i can, but i just need a little feed back on what else i can do! the website you suggested can really help, so thank you for that sweetie! (:

    Killing animals for our consumption isn't bad. Manufacturing animals for our own consumption is bad. Over 100 billion animals are killed a year just for our food. We need to cut down and respect the world we live in. But I don't agree we need to stop eating animal products. You just need balance. If you go in a cage with a lion, is that lion going to give you the same respect? No he's going to eat you. That's life. The strong prey on the weak.

    I am just going to be critical about one of your statements.
    Regarding the statement "we are the only species that drink milk from another animal". That is true. I do not deny that.
    I get that the concept seems weird once you start to think about it..
    BUT BUT BUT.. that logic is sort of implying that since as humans, we are not allowed to be unique from other species.
    We are also the only species that is biologically constructed to be omnivores, but then some of our species choose to be either purely vegetarian or purely carnivores. For example, our teeth are designed to have canines that are suitable for chewing meet, but then we also have digestive enzymes that will only function if we have certain vitamins and minerals from vegetables.
    That is a long way of saying. We are the only species that meant to be omnivores, but we choose otherwise. Do you see how that sentence is sort of similar to the phrase of "we are the only species that drink milk from another animal". Just because we as humans do something that is unique from other species on Earth doesn't mean it is a bad thing.

      +Warbling Vireo Hello the I agree regarding the animal cruelty as well milk is actually very unhealthy there are some really good very credible studies which conclude dairy products increase bone fractures and ovarian, prostate, breast and actually all cancers. This is due to the high levels of growth hormone in dairy (called Insulin Growth Factor One). Growth hormones are like a fuel for cancer cells which are cells which are dividing out of control. Cows milks is very high in growth hormones as the milk is designed to help a baby cow grow into an 800 pound cow.

    I'm a doctor..and i don't completely agree with these facts.. milk is a brilliant source of casein( a protein which is only found in milk) , lactose, vitamins (especially B12), and a lot of essential nutrients. It also contains tryptophan, an amino acid which helps in the production of serotonin, which is the hormone responsible for sleep. I get that your lifestyle is not suited for dairy consumption, and i also agree that meat is bad for you(I'm a vegetarian, not a VEGAN), but please do not spread such false claims without background knowledge of the subject. You may have done the required research in your field, but there are extensive studies showing the benefits of dairy products. Calcium is essential for healthy bones, and milk is one of the best sources for calcium. you go to ANY doctor, and he is gonna prescribe you calcium and vit D for the treatment of osteoporosis. Cow Milk is healthy, and cashew milk is not, on the contrary. watching this video, I'm like " is she challenging everything i learnt in medical school"??!!

    • @beguru5826
      @beguru5826 7 років тому +9

      SNEHA PRABHU hey and you know what? Do you know where else you can find those micro nutrients and B12? In a plant based diet. B12 comes from the soil in the earth. Cows get it from being injected and simply by eating plants. Casein is an animal protein that is acidic to your body. Animal protein is acidic and draws calcium from your bones to stabilize the acid, therefore peeing out the calcium after your blood has been stabilized. We are biologically herbivores/frugivores. If you believe in evolution, monkies and apes are frugivores. They don’t eat meat. Plant protein is the only protein that is actual good for our bodies.

    I'm sorry but some of these facts are either based on too many variables or misleading. For example, milk "not being what it used to be" is actually better because back before milk was pasteurized, it didn't last very long and accumulated lots of bacteria. Pasteurizing is a simple process that removes the bad bacteria from milk and helps it last longer when refrigerated. Another example is the over whelming amount of misleading studies. If you listen, Kristina uses a lot of "milk may contribute to _____" and "a recent study suggests that..." This wording indicates that there are no certainties yet and independent research has found a possible link between milk and bad health. You could, on the other hand, find hundreds of studies that suggest that milk may be beneficial to bone development as well. Not saying that there's anything wrong with the vegan perspective, but it's important to look at things from both sides.

    Hi Kristina! I totally agree with you! I just was eating cereal (with milk) and this made me think again. I am a freshman in high school and we had to do a pro/con speech. Most students chose the topic if abortion should be legal, do video games cause violence, should the drinking age be lowered... There were so many choices but I've decided to choose why people should become vegetarian. I know that it's different from being vegan, but after presenting my speech yesterday before winter break, I thought of actually becoming a vegetarian. SOOO many reasons!! Right now my diet is to eating meat rarely and hopefully I can cut it out and eat less meat, then be vegetarian. It will be hard for me to be vegan, or raw vegan. This transformation might be hard for my friends and family to understand since when having meals they would have to go through making dishes without meat or dairy. We'll see what will happen! :) Thanks Kristina!

    Well you can say whatever you want but, truth is Humans have adapted to digest milk.
    people that were capable to digest dairy foods grew stronger and reproduced.
    and just buy unprocessed milk. problem solved.

      +jesse andres There are more problems with milk than just the processing. This article sums it up perfectly.

      +jesse andres I'm sorry but that's not correct. Only children have the enzym (lactase), that's why most of adults drinking milk have digestion issue. if we could digest milk, lactose-free milk would not exist :)

    • @marmackk
      @marmackk 8 років тому +2

      That is not correct. According to studies 75% of adults are lactose intolerant.That is because we lose the milk digesting enzyme called lactase after childhood. Because we have problems digesting milk it stays in our intestines and rots.That is why when people get cancer doctors will tell them to eliminate dairy and meat from their diet

    I used to love cows milk but I started thinking about a few things, a lot of them mentioned in the video, and also because there are a lot of cases of lactose intolerance in my family, so I want to avoid it. My problem is that I don't like the flavour of almond, soy, rice, etc, milks. I have tried everything :/ anyone in the same situation?

      In terms of almond milk it's kind of weird. I hated it at first, but forced myself to drink it. Now, I love it. Maybe it's something psychological?

    I am admittedly very young but I am already choosing what I decide is right for my body, with research of course. I have recently gone vegetarian and make sure to exercise regularly. This video has helped solidify my decision to cut dairy from my diet (despite my love for cheese and whatnot). Thank you for sharing your research!

    Raw milk is actually Illegal to _sell_ but if i had a chance i'd give a try. I love milk, i really have no bad effects from drinking it, but I want to start juicing more, i love fruits. Also i told this stuff to my doctor that tracks my growth and she scoffed at me

    It is absoultely relevant for Western culture but in countries like India and Nepal; it is utterly irrevalent. People worship cow as god, treat cow as a human being, and we take milk only after the calf is done with it.
