- G'day Bodgies and Widgies! In this video, I'm sharing my personal journey of introducing new discus fish to my aquarium and the struggles I faced trying to get them to eat. Discus fish are notorious for being picky eaters and can be a real challenge to feed, especially when they're new to your aquarium.
I tried everything from live foods to frozen foods, but my new discus fish just wouldn't eat. After many attempts and a lot of research, I finally discovered the key to getting my discus fish to settle into their new home and start eating healthily.

I think they're also not winning at eating time since there's other fish that are quicker to eat, discus are known to be slow eaters and usually they take the food and gush it right back out so maybe stopping the filters and not having as much movement by other fish would also help, it definitely helped me a lot and now every time I pass by the tank my discus almost jump out of it thinking they're about to be fed. Love your discus by the way and thanks for sharing your experience it does help us all, blessings🙏🏻🙏🏻
It is great you share your experiences with everyone cheers 👍
Thank you Tony! I think its always best if we just live and learn together :)

righttt! they just keep getting better and better!
You must be genius, I tried the Tetra TetraColor XL Tropical Granules with Natural Color Enhancer for my newly arrived discus, they start to eat, I even tried frozen bloodworm eariler and no luck. I guess this must be their staple food at discus store.
Hahaha, I take no credit :)
This was recommended to me by a discus breeder called Southern Discus Centre but it works so well right haha
HI , I jut got new setup and got 3 discus its been 2 days not eating anthing , tried different types of foods nothing worked, its a bare bottom tank with a large piece of wood and anubias, what should i do ? tds 110 ph 7.2
Hi mate, since it's only been 2 days I would say it's better to just wait. Don't feed the discus for 2-3 days and then try feed them with some freeze dried blackworms or tetra discus granules.
Also make sure your temp is nice and warm at 28 degrees c. Hope this helps and feel free to keep me posted.
I have a yellow lemon and snow white, will they turn orange or red because if i feed the tropical xl granules?
I don't see that being an issue at all, the food does not have any harsh colour enhancers at all and from my experience of feeding it to a range of other species it has no adverse effects.
How about tetra bits?
