instead of using brand names when discussing your med, you might check the label and mention the active ingredients in the products you are using. looks like they were cold or the temp was fluctuating to get them in this shape. also, Metronidazole treatment right away for protozoans. then also if you know how, a potassium permaganate treatment for external parasites. once they start taking food, you can mix metro in food. (it lasts 8 hours in water then becomes inactive so you can treat, wait 8 hours, change water, then treat again). you can also try probiotic bacteria powder for replacing the probiotics after gut and parasite treatments. I use an aqua ponics commercial powder to treat my tanks. it improves appetite and balances gut health especially after you treat with metro.

Amazing job helping them heal. That often doesn't go so well. It's so cool to see your aquarium channel! I recently got rid of some of my more typical house plants like spider plants so I could put in a new 20g tank and focus on just aquariums, orchids, african violets, and reptiles.

Poor babies, but you nursed them back to health so well, thank you for helping them! It breaks my heart to see fish suffer so badly, so many of them are severely mistreated oftentimes that it makes me so happy to see someone take the time and spend the resources to take care of them. If I were you I couldn't have given them away, but of course I get that space is an issue. I think if you can find or make space for them that it would be so lovely for you to take them back and keep them. Anyway, I hope they find someone that loves them the way they are and gives them a nice forever-home, whether it's you or someone else!

I think you should keep them. You fought hard to heal them and you know that you will help them thrive in your care.

Any tips for someone just starting out with aquascaping/fish keeping? Where to begin? Discus is what started my interest but I feel there is so much experience gain before I can do it? Thoughts?

Hi, I would definitely start with a betta fish, some snails and maybe shrimps and a nano tank of about 40l (10 galons). I used to have some betta setup tutorials I sadly lost, but I'll make more in the future :) I would stay away from Discus for now, they really are such moody fish, very expensive and with space requirements. I think you'll enjoy a simple betta tank with easy plants, a piece of wood, aquasoil and a suitable light. Visit tropica.com to learn about popular aquarium plants and which are easier. Hope this helps!
