I thought that you believed that observing the Torah was needed for Salvation..I am so glad you clarified that. So then basically we believe the same thing that Jesus is the ONLY way for Salvation!!❤❤

Ashley, thank you for answering these questions. As a Torah observant believer myself, I know how difficult it is sometimes to articulate our beliefs. You did a beautiful job! When I first found your channel and realized you were a Torah mama- I did a happy dance! LOL Thanks again! And yes, put up those lights for Hanukkah! It is the Festival of Lights! Yeshua celebrated Hanukkah - only place it’s mentioned in our Bibles. Let us do as the Master did!

I don’t know why but when you said people ask you “Why are you trying to be Jewish?” it made me chuckle. While I am a Christian, but not a Torah observant Christian, it doesn’t take long to realize you’re not “trying” to be Jewish and you believe in Jesus. I’m not sure how someone could still think that after watching your videos on this topic. I think it’s really beautiful to listen to you speak of your practice of faith even though it doesn’t look exactly like the way I practice the same faith. Keep doing you girl.

While I’m a Non Denominational Christian, I have absolutely fallen in love with the Torah Observant faith. While at the moment, I’m not feeling called to be completely Torah Observant, I’m slowly diving my feet into certain aspects of Torah Observant Christianity. I also started watching Founded in Truth some time ago, after watching one of your videos. (I cannot remember which one for the life of me 😂) And I have also fallen in love with the teachings from there!

Loved what you said at the beginning... If you believe in Jesus as the Son of God and His death to save us, then we are on the same path, the same core just different roads but we are all walking and making our way to the same destiny (hopefully!)...
I believe in looking for our common ground, not our differences. In this time and age, we should look at each other through love!!

I teach at an Orthodox Jewish school. I think that living as a Torah Observant Christians - I saw your Q & A on it and thought the part about lawlessness was quite compelling - is super interesting. Some questions:
    1. You mentioned not eating pork or shellfish. Do you keep kosher completely and follow pareve?
    2. What do you think about Galatians? (Some former Torah Observant Christians I know stopped because of Galatians. I'm not Christian so I'm not sure what is in there that compelled them to stop.)
    3. Do you observe the mitzvahs? (I'm not sure if that's a Talmud thing, lol.)
    4. Do you observe the Sabbath similarly to a Jew? (No technology, no machinery at all, etc.)
    5. Has becoming a Torah Observant Christian inspired you to want to learn Hebrew? I only ask because Hebrew is mandatory where I teach.
    6. Have you heard of the Philia Ministries here on UA-cam? They're also Torah Observant Christians?
    7. You mentioned calling Jesus Yeshua, do you call God Hashem?
Fascinating video! I'm agnostic but I think your views are fascinating. :)

Ashleigh, in 2018 the Spirit started speaking & showing me a different way of honoring the Father, Yeshua, and the Spirit. The road has been curvy & I am definitely still learning. My husband, like yours, is open but not necessarily feeling like jumping in with both feet. We did not celebrate Christmas traditionally that year & it was so hard. I didn't make a big deal of it in public or with other family members, but it felt somber. 2019 was definitely easier. I know that I am being led further this year in celebrating the other feasts declared by the Lord. At this time, just before Rosh Hashana, He has been reminding me to pray and think about how best to celebrate the autumn festivals; and He led me to your channel! Thank you for your videos - I am drinking them in & being open to the leading of the Spirit!

I don't understand how she doesn't know if she is putting herself under Old Testament law. It talks about not marking yourself in the OT. Also, in the NT it says that Christians should not be worldly.....tattoos are pretty worldly. If she is " Torah Observant" then they need to carefully read Leviticus and Deuteronomy. Regardless of different vies, I know Ashleigh is a Christian and is trying to follow Christ.

I ask Christians who keep Christmas this question: where in scripture or in history does it say that Yeshua was born on that day? Funnier is that December 25 is also the birthday of Sol Invictus (the Roman sun god). I wonder in that was a coincidence.

I don't celebrate Christmas but my family does in terms of they use the day to honor God. They don't exchange presents or get drunk or party but they use it to remember yeshua birth. I visit and fellowship with them. I don't let my personal beliefs hinder me from spending quality time and a time that is joyful for us where we pray, read the word, sing etc. We don't have the same beliefs about Christmas but God helped me to have humility and see the bigger picture and their hearts.

Think of Baptism as going through the Red Sea as we escape Egypt/the world. The bread and wine as a marriage proposal in a Jewish wedding. The Exodus is a pattern of Salvation and can be seen in the Tabernacle.

Also, I recently picked up Reza Aslan's "Zealot" and between that book and your videos I have finally begun to understand my own spirituality instead of just claiming that I am an atheist when I was really confused and conflicted by the mess of Biblical stories, cultural and historical factors and practices that is any Church or Christian movement.

Our church taught on the Liberty of the Conscience because there are gray areas that aren't hard and fast/clear in scripture (such as modesty) and we are called to have grace and understand with our brothers and sisters if you disagree on those tertiary issues as long as you agree on the main issues and some secondary issues. When we look at different cultures and what is offensive there but not in our own culture(ex: in Mozambique it is immodest to show your knees but being topless considered acceptable) also, in our culture some people believe it is unbiblical to eat unorganic foods but having a thankful heart for whatever the Lord has given you is more biblical. Thanks for the video.

    Great video!
Thank you so much for sharing😊 We are observant as well & we do the best we can to follow His commands. We don’t really label ourselves as any sect of Messianic Judaism or Christianity (mainly due to the fact that, well it can be messy lol) sadly.
We’re just simple and say we’re Torah observant followers of Yeshua.
We have been on this journey for almost 11 years now and it has been really beautiful, well, once we learned what was legalistic and what was not lol! I mean seriously In the beginning I drove my family crazy with the rules! Rules and more rules. 🤦🏻‍♀️ after we just took Torah as it is and let the Ruach lead, oh how the freedom came. We’re still learning though. We always will Thank God😊 Anywho, about the lights, we have them up too. They’ve been white, but next year I think we’re switching it up to color. It’s getting a bit mundane looking at the same lights for several years now lol! To add my two cents in about tattoos, well lovingly, here goes.
Leviticus clearly say not to tattoo for the dead or imprint anything on yourself.
Again, we’re all learning and His grace is beautiful. Your shirt says it all.
    Again, thanks for the video.
I’ve thought about doing something like this as I have Jewish friends and it would be easier to explain what we’re all about in a quick sit down video.
Thankfully my friends know that I’m not about trying to convert them. That was a big issue I had at first then explained that it’s not my job to convert. If people can’t see The Abba, Yeshua & Holy Spirit though me then I’m not doing my job as a believer. If that makes sense. Have a great day!

Have you ever read "A Year of Biblical Womanhood" by Rachel Held Evans? It was such an eye opening book to how different yet connected all of us who believe in Jesus are. She took a year to honor the literal things in the bible that some people still today follow. It was such a humbling experience for her, and I cried through most of it realizing how precious some of these traditions and things are.

Thank you for clarifying that we are all on the same TEAM. I have met some TOC who are down right mean and nasty to "regular" Christians and Catholics. I also appreciate your comments on modesty and headcovering. I have never felt convicted about either. After my husband and I moved and were visiting churches we attended a church that we discovered quickly was very conservative. After the service when we were talking to a woman who was sitting near us she said if we wanted to attend that church I would HAVE to wear a skirt and cover my head. My husband was like "nope nope nope, we are leaving now."
On a different topic - I would appreciate a video on your thoughts on the John MacArthur/Beth Moore drama. I think you would have a very different and interesting perspective.

I belong to a Traditional Catholic Latin Mass Church. We are always told not to tell anyone that they have to wear a skirt and head covering. We do dress that way but it is not our place to scare off anyone away by pushing it on someone else.
I hope you give it a try again 😊❤️ I'm sorry you had a bad experience!

Is there a simple book if I wanted to celebrate with my children biblical feasts? We kicked Christmas also about 5 years ago but my kids asked for lights this year so we're going to put them up as well! We have a birthday party for Jesus with cake and ice cream but I wanted to celebrate the feasts to help us get a clearer picture of Jesus!

I am sure that you get a lot of push back from Jewish people but as a Jew who raised in a very catholic town. The only Jew in my elementary school class I was always worried that I was taught that Jesus was just a man. What if we are wrong? That has scared me forever. For Jews to just believe they are “the chosen people” is pretty arrogant. I maintain an open mind. Things I know for sure. God is good. God is forgiving. We are not perfect and God forgives for being human. I think Jesus would hate the symbolism like a crucifix, churches in his worship(Jesus) because he believed in God. Knealing to false idols. I am fascinated by your way of worship. I always have been. In my day because I am old enough to be your mother. We called people who were a Jewish who embraced Jesus - Jews for Jesus. Now there is a religion called Messianic a Judaism. Is that your religion?

John 7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, *My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.*
John 7:17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
_In John __7:16__ Jesus testified that his doctrine was not his own, but [God's doctrine]._
_When Jesus gave us the doctrine of the "great commandment" he indeed gives us God's doctrine._
Matthew 22:36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Matthew 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with *all thy heart, and with all thy soul,* and with all thy mind.
Matthew 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.
Matthew 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Matthew 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
_Notice the wording within the [first] great commandment; (... _*_love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul,_*_ …) and notice that this exact phrase has already been recorded and established as a doctrine within the old testament._
_Example of what it means to love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul._
Deuteronomy 13:3 [...] for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye *love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.*
Deuteronomy 13:4 Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, *and keep his commandments,* and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
_Example of what it means to love God._
Deuteronomy 30:16 In that I command thee this day *to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments,* that thou mayest live [...].
_Deu 13:3-4 & Deu __30:16__ coveys the message that to "love the LORD your God {EVEN} with all your heart and with all your soul" means to "keep his commandments, and obey his voice" & "to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments."_
_Please remember that Jesus testified in John __7:16__-17_

John 7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, *My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.*
John 7:17 *If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.*
_Now please notice in Luke __10:25__ a lawyer's question to Jesus is; "...What shall I do to inherit...?"_
Luke 10:25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, *what shall I do to inherit* eternal life?
_This question "...What shall I do to inherit...?" is very much like asking; ...What is required of me [to inherit] ...?_
_And this question had already been addressed by God's doctrine, within the old testament in Deu __10:12__-13._
Deuteronomy 10:12 And now, Israel, *what doth the LORD thy God require of thee,* but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and *to love him,*
and *to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,*
Deuteronomy 10:13 *To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes,* which I command thee this day for thy good?
_Now again looking at Luke __10:25__ the man's question is first addressed by Jesus in this manner; "... _*_What is written in the law?_*_ ..._
_We know that when Jesus says "What is written in the law" would be referring to something already recorded. As God's doctrine had already recorded in the old testament._
_The man goes on to say; "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul..." which is indeed written in the old testament._
Luke 10:25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, *Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?*
Luke 10:26 He said unto him, *What is written in the law?* how readest thou?
Luke 10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
Luke 10:28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
_We can read nearly the same situation (question and answer) again in Mark __10:17__-19._
Mark 10:17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, *what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?*
Mark 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
Mark 10:19 *Thou knowest the commandments,* Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.
_In Mark __10:17__ a person asks Jesus, "...what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?_
_In Mark __10:19__ Jesus states; "Thou knowest the commandments..." (Note that the commandments were known by the man because they are already written, in God's doctrine, in the old testament.)_
_In Mark __10:19__ Then Jesus began to recite from the Ten Commandments, which are the words of the covenant. (God's covenant / God's doctrine.)_
Exodus 34:28 And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables *the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.*
Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jeremiah 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jeremiah 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
_Notice in_ Jeremiah 31:33 *But this shall be the covenant* … [the words of the covenant are the ten commandments Exodus 34:28] … *that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law* [the words of the covenant, the ten commandments Exodus 34:28 & Jeremiah 31:32] *in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.*
John 7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, *My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.*
John 7:17 *If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.*

Let me know if Instagram is the best place to ask this, but I am curious, in more detail, why your family doesn't celebrate Easter? When you explain why you don't celebrate Christmas as we know it today, it makes perfect sense. But in regards to Easter, Paul's writing about "being all things to all people" comes to mind. In my limited understanding it seems that keeping Easter doesn't conflict with being a Torah observant Christian. I'd be curious to hear you expound more in a future video! And when I say "keeping Easter" I suppose I mean recognizing Christ's passion on Friday and celebrating his resurrection with family and church community on Sunday, not necessarily adopting the easter bunny and egg hunts. But I heard you when you said that celebrating Passover encompasses it all and is sufficient for you! I would not know because I have never truly celebrated the Passover, although I do feel inclined to do so more and more.

    • @ashleighnicolewilson
      @ashleighnicolewilson  4 роки тому +3

First fruits is actually the feast day that celebrates His resurrection, and it always falls on the Sunday after Passover (so often it falls on Easter, as well)! And while Passover isn't always on Friday (because of how the Hebrew calendar works) it is all about remembering our Savior's sacrifice that freed us from sin and death. So really, it's simply that, like Christmas, Easter is unnecessary for our family, because God had prepared the mode and days for remembering the death and resurrection of Christ long before they ever happened

I’m kind of puzzled on how you/your church decides where to draw the line regarding the Law- you talk about eating clean, but not kosher, etc. It seems like segregation during menstruation and ritual bathing (and similar laws) would be hard to keep, but they are part of Torah, as well. You also speak about teaching in church. How do you decide/reconcile those choices? (I hope this doesn’t come off as combative, I don’t mean it to be. I don’t know any Torah observant Christians, and I find it really fascinating)

    • @ashleighnicolewilson
      @ashleighnicolewilson  4 роки тому +5

You are correct, some instructions are not only difficult, but impossible to keep, owing to the fact that there is not a temple. The good news is, we are simply doing what we can as we are able out of a desire to be obedient as a way to show our love to God. (1 John 5:2-4) We know we can’t do it perfectly, no one can, and that’s why we need Jesus! As far as teaching, there is no law against women teaching!

    • @ashlieleavelle
      @ashlieleavelle 4 роки тому +2

This is why Christians are not commanded to keep the Torah, it was for a different time. Ashleigh is right in that we don't have a temple. That is why I believe that being " Torah Observant" is not for today......you can't possibly keep all those laws that were instructed in the Old Testament.

Actually, no one believes in "replacement theology". As someone who believes in Covenant Theology, I get accused of it. However, it's a misunderstanding and an absolute insult. Israel is a type of the church, it pointed forward to it. The church did not replace Israel by any means.

You explained very well. The misconception is that you don't believe in Jesus its a struggle to explain due to the fact that many people do not know biblical history or there own history. Every believer needs to dive deep in to there own religion/church and Read the Bible if it doesn't align with God or Jesus exact words leave Egypt. The Holy Spirt will guide anyone who believes in (Jesus)Yahshua. Many Jews don't accept any who believe in Jesus. Some people don't realize that there are jews that believe and others (Christians) want to be disconnected from them. The answer ks in the middle if you love him do what he did. You CAN do all the feast and not be Jewish [Ruth]. That is a way of sanctificating yourself and prepare for his return. You are saved by Grace but to love him do what he did you can not go wrong his life was a template he observed all the feast. The real question is why don't you Keep? "If you love me Keep my commandments" Many more will wake up. Be bless everyone

People who are Jewish follow the Old Testament of the Bible along with their oral law that they’ve passed down through many centuries. Jews believe the messiah who will save them, has yet to come. They do not believe Jesus is the messiah. Torah observant Christians believe Jesus is the messiah and has come to save us from our sins. Along with that, they follow the Torah, which is the first 5 books of the Bible. Majority of Christians say we don’t have to follow that anymore but there are some, like Ashleigh, who see the importance and significance of living out the Christian Faith by loving God how He laid out He wants to be loved and worshipped- which is His Torah. I hope that brought some clarity. If not, let me know!
