  • Hi, everyone! Raquel here to share how my family welcomes the Sabbath as Torah pursuant Christians. We like to celebrate the Sabbath with an Erev Shabbat Party (evening of the Sabbath party)! This tradition is ONE of the ways we set the Sabbath apart from all other days.
    You'll notice that we borrow from the traditional Jewish Erev Shabbat elements; however, we have also made our own version for our own family tradition. In this video, I won't be explaining anything, just giving you a little taste of our Erev Shabbat tradition.

    🏡 The last video on this channel was about the 10 freezer meals I bulk cooked for the postpartum recovery period. All Biblically clean (Leviticus 11, Deuteronomy 14), simple, and using similar ingredients for zero food waste and budget friendly meals. Find it here: • Video
    SUBSCRIBERS TAKE NOTE:
    * Usually, I post at 7am PST on Sundays and Wednesdays; however, I don't have a good data connection in the remote terrain of north Idaho where my home sits. During this postpartum period, I am not going into town like I usually would, and so I have to wait several hours (and days!) for one video to upload. Videos will still publish on Sundays and Wednesdays, but they may be later than 7am PST until I resume my normal trips into town. Also- sometimes I am notified of comments, but I can't respond to them until my phone picks up a better connection. I have THOROUGHLY enjoyed talking with all of you, though, and I'm sorry when there's a delay in my response. Thank you for your understanding! You guys are the best!!*
    Blessings,
    Raquel

    Ahh...this blessed me so much. I'm so thankful the Father led us to His good ways! It's so sweet to see your little family starting off in His truth. Our youngest is nine with our oldest being 22. We've only been in Torah a few years but I'm so thankful everyone's on board. Our 13 year old daughter is just finishing up our Shabbat dinner now and we are almost ready to eat. This was fun to watch as we prepare for another beautiful Sabbath! Shalom!

      Awesome!! Yes. I realized there were a ton of Torah theology channels, but there was a gap in the T. O. Christian lifestyle channels. A lot of people ask about how to practically live out what we're reading in the Scriptures. So, I'm just sharing how we do that! ☺ I see that you were making videos 2 years ago. Do you plan to get back into it?

      @@WomenLivingTorah I do! We had a camera break, and shortly after that was when our entire world was turned upside down with our eyes being opened to Torah. Now that we are getting into a groove, I would love to start making videos again. I've watched several of yours now, and they are very inspiring! I found your video when you linked it in a Torah FB group, so thank you for sharing!!

      I just saw your edited comment. Yes!! to the understanding of Sabbath as a gift. My husband and I first began keeping Sabbath about 6ish years ago. At first, it was kind of difficult, honestly, because our society is so geared around doing everything on Saturday. But the more we kept Sabbath, the more God opened our eyes to what a gift it is and allowed us to be far more productive the other 6 six days of the week when keeping Sabbath than we had been working 7 days of the week. Haha 😂

    • @keribrown9221
      @keribrown9221 5 років тому

      @@WomenLivingTorah how amazing my sister! We've been trying to observe Sabbath to the best of our ability for the last 6 months. It was EXTREMELY hard for me because I saw it as a burden and not blessing I must confess. Just striving to have everything prepared in time and the long blessings we said lol, but you are ABSOLUTELY right. Now keeping it is a time to spend with Yahweh intimately as a family and it really pushes me to strive to be more productive during the week because Yahweh has been so good to us and allows us a day to rest. ❤️

    • @WomenLivingTorah
      @WomenLivingTorah  5 років тому +1

      Absolutely. I love having the Sabbath EVERY week (now)! And actually, I have read (from a secular source) that *true* rest is achieved in two parts: deep play and relaxation. Relaxation is ceasing from work. Deep play is engaging in an activity that is challenging and absorbing.
      God's day of rest has both components! Relaxation- we don't work. Deep play- we absorb ourselves and challenge ourselves with His Word.
      So if you are newly keeping Sabbath, are you newly Torah pursuant?

    • @keribrown9221
      @keribrown9221 5 років тому

      @@WomenLivingTorah so so true! I like what you said about the relaxation and deep play. I noticed once I truly love into The Word, I would REALLY enjoy Sabbath. Which proves (although we already know and believe) God's Word is completely true. He said we would delight and I do now. My kiddos are 4 (Malachi) and 2(Makayla) and by the Grace of God, we are pregnant with our 3rd and due if He allows, in 3 months 🤗🤗 we are SUPER excited ❤️ and I can't believe I have SO much in common with you which blesses my heart. We are new to the Hebrew understanding of the Scriptures (His Law is still valid). It's really been a journey especially because we left a church we fellowshipped with for almost 6 years. But we are trusting Yahweh to lead us you know. That is super cool you and your husband have been Torah pursuant for 6 years. What a blessing. I bet you all have so much to pass on because I LOVED your study on Leah and joy being found in Yeshua and His Word ❤️ thank you for that. I'm so glad we have connected 😊

      @@WomenLivingTorah sister may i ask you a question.. Why did god say more often make bread without yeast? What is the issue with yeast.

    • @WomenLivingTorah
      @WomenLivingTorah  5 років тому +1

      Hmm, I don't know that God does have a problem with yeast (leaven).
      We read that God commands we NOT eat leavened bread on the seven days of the Feast of Unleavened Breads (Leviticus 23:6), which was to remember how the Israelites did not have time to wait for bread to rise when they hurried from Egypt (Exodus 12:39).
      BUT- we ARE commanded to have *leavened bread* in our homes on the day of the Feast of Weeks (Pentecost).
      Leviticus 23:16-17
      Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the Lord. Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; *they shall be baked with leaven;* they are the firstfruits unto the Lord.
      With sacrifices, we see that sometimes God commands unleavened bread- and sometimes leavened.
      The apostle Paul and Jesus/Yeshua used leaven to *metaphorically* describe sin/false doctrine. The disciples were actually confused in Matthew 16 by Yeshua's metaphor and thought maybe something was wrong with leaven, but Yeshua reminded them of how he fed the 5,000 and the 4,000 with leavened bread and the conclusion was:
      Matthew 16:12
      Then understood they how that he bade them *not beware of the leaven of bread,* but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
      Yeshua/Jesus has also used leaven in a *positive* metaphor, when He said:
      Matthew 13:33
      Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
      In my opinion, from my understanding of the Scriptures, God does not have an issue with leaven/yeast. I hope these Scriptural references were helpful!!

      I have plans to show how I make them, and hopefully, I'll have a website for a free download of what I put inside them for anyone interested. ☺ But I definitely would be glad to share, as soon as I can! (P. S. I live in a rural but high tourist area of north Idaho. My internet hardly works from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Please forgive me for the delays in responses to comments!)

    Hi Raquel. I was watching some of your old videos for inspiration and tips. This june will be our year anniversary of celebrating and honoring shabbat. And after a year i still struggle so much with shabbat meals. Mostly trying to keep the food warm, or timing it perfectly out of the oven, or making sure the sauces dont stick will we finish what we have to do before we eat. Its very overwhelming and instead of being joyful and relaxed im stressing to make sure the food is properly heated. Is mostly my concern. We dont do complicated meals. And its still a struggle... the timing of everything. How do you handle that?

    • @WomenLivingTorah
      @WomenLivingTorah  4 роки тому

      Aw, I feel your struggle! Meals have been my most stressful and difficult adjustment, and honestly, I just got it down this year! (And I’m six years in!) and I forgot I was going to make a video about this!
      For Erev Shabbat (the evening that begins the Sabbath), I make the same meal almost every week (but I use different spices/veggies from week to week, so it isn’t boring!). Roasted chicken with roasted vegetables, salad, and challah with grape juice. I premake the salad and grape juice (or have my kids do it), and then because I do the same meal every week, I know exactly how long everything will take and when I need to ‘start’ it in order to finish at 6:00ish. I turn off the oven, but keep the chicken/veggies in; we do our erev Shabbat celebration, and then I bring it out of the oven.
      If you were to do something like this, I think it’s important to choose a dish that won’t burn, dry out, or become excessively thick while it waits in the oven. I really like having the roasted chicken on a bed of veggies in a roasting pan with a lid (or a Dutch oven with a lid). All the juices and steam keep everything moist and warm without burning it.
      Then, for the day of Shabbat, it depends on what your opinion is on cooking food for the day. I personally think it’s fine, but I also don’t want to stress about what to make, etc. So this is what I do:
      I prep a frittata for breakfast, and then I cook it the morning of. I premake chicken and rice or dirty rice for lunch, and then reheat it with a lid. I usually do a dessert that doesn’t need reheating also. And then for dinner, I prep a soup and put it in my instant pot insert it in a pot. Shabbat morning, I put the insert into the instant pot or set the pot on my wood stove. Whenever we’re ready for dinner, the soup is ready.
      That’s what I do... I hope it can help in some way.... 😊

      I can write a challah making video on my list, but in the meantime, I’ll try to find one for you.
      Here’s the recipe I use (and I just tweak the ingredients, as needed):

      You can search online for ‘blessings for Shabbat,’ if you’re interested in the traditional Jewish prayers. What I do can be found in my Etsy shop @ www.Etsy.com/shop/WomenLivingTorah I also have a flip through of our Shabbat siddur in the Sabbath playlist. 😃 Many blessings!!

      I shared my siddur booklets in the video linked in this comment. These are not necessarily ‘traditional,’ though there are some traditional elements included. I hope this flip through of my booklets can be useful to you in creating yours! Blessings!! 😃

    • @WomenLivingTorah
      @WomenLivingTorah  3 роки тому +1

      We eat Biblically clean meats, but we are not necessarily ‘kosher.’ For example, we eat meat and milk together. Also, some products made with unclean animals have been determined ‘kosher’ because they’ve gone through chemical processes, but we do not consider them to be Biblically clean. I haven’t made a video about that.... 😊

    Isn't the most high against traditions.

    • @WomenLivingTorah

      Thanks for the question! My understanding is that He is against traditions that take precedence over or that contradict His Instructions. Forsaking His commands for tradition is the issue, not the traditions necessarily (unless they contradict). 😊 Blessings!
