Usually watching Starcraft cinematic is really weird to watch, because they are generally part of in game quests and alone they hardly make sense, so I will try to tie up some of the story. To begin with, the videos that you have watched take place in different timelines. So, some backstory of the backstory. In this universe some humans have "psionic" powers almost like telekinesis. Some of these humans are trained in special OPS unit called "Ghosts". Sarah Kerrigan is such a ghost. Her stealth, that you saw in the first video, is a combination of technology and her "psionic" powers. So how did she survive? The whole Zerg race is controlled by a single mind simply called "The Overmind". It sensed the great powers and potentials in Kerrigan and ordered the Zerg to take her to their home planet instead and transform her into the "Queen of Blades". Half human half Zerg that leads the armies and eventually succeeding the Overming in becoming the new leader of the Zerg race. The "Hearth of the Swarm" if you must. These events take place during Starcraft 1. The 2nd video that you saw takes place much much later. At the end of Starcraft 2 "Wings Of Liberty" Kerrigan's former lover/partner Jim Raynor manages to cure her, getting her human body and her own mind back, just leaving the Zerg like hair. The whole "Heart of the Swarm" cinematic that you saw takes place just moments after Kerrigan was cured. She was foreseeing her future self. While she has her own mind back she still has some control over the Zerg. And some of the Zerg still see her as their queen. In the video she is shown a vision of the Zerg's first home world, where the Zerg used to live before they became "The Swarm" and where only "Primal Zerg" live now. She must accept who she is and what her role is. For that she goes there to "absorb" life essence from there to become a primal zerg/human hybrid. A more powerful version of her old self, but still keeping her own mind The events from the 3rd video is actually in a timeline between the first two. This is after Kerrigan took over the Zerg, but before she was initially cured. Explanations on what exactly is this "prophecy" and what is going on is needles complication at the moment, but I will gladly provide additional explanation if requested. And in the last video you saw the new version of Kerrigan where she is fighting a shape shifting entity that is creating a zerg/protoss hybrid army for a "deity" of a sort called Amon. Which kinda ties into the "prophecy" thing, but keeping it short here. As for the good/evil point of view. Kerrigan was just a soldier, turned evil, than cured and that accepting what she has become and embodying it even more, so that she can do what must be done.
just to add: the Overmind sought Kerrigan to make her be a leader for the Swarm, out of the "Dark One"'s control. as the Overmind was initially created by the Dark One, centuries of being left alone made it start thinking for himself, and knowing the Dark One might return soon, turned Kerrigan into the Queen of Blades, to guarantee the swarms wouldn't be used for the Dark One's purposes, since the Overmind would have followed it's direction, meaning the end of the Swarm. It sought and found a way to break the shackles holding them bound.
@@xXCursedWorgenXx I was purposely avoiding details about Amon so that it is less confusing and not as long. Thank you for adding it in though, good touch.
@@xXCursedWorgenXx Wasn't the Overmind capable of seeing the future? It knew that it would also die, so making Kerrigan was the way out for All Zerg since it also knew that a Zerg without a leader would easily fall prey to the Dark One... and they did, because Kerrigan was kind of failure in the end... which why rescuing her saver her mind from Amon's control and turning into a Primal Zerg made her keep the power over the Zerg with the added value of keeping her mind ,too.
Pretty sure you're watching these clips out of order. The part where Zeratul ships Kerigan the homeworld of the Zerg happens in Heart of the Swarm. The fight where Zeratul cuts off Kerrigan's wing happens in Wings of Liberty, which is BEFORE Heart of the Swarm, but you watched it after the previous clip.
Yes. She is turned to this alien Zerg form when she was surrounded in The Betrayal. Se sought revenge. The humans weakened her with alien tech, she gets saved by her old partner (there should be a cool cinematic for this too I believe - the ending of The Winds of Liberty, chapter 1 of StarCraft II - this chapter started with the release of criminal Tychus who was suited up). The beginning of Hearth of the Swarm - chapter 2 is when she dreams of her victory over the human confederation led by Mengsk who betrayed and left her to the Zerg. She wakes up at the end, revealing that the humans put that suit on her you see in the video at 4:45 (partially reversing her corruption, reducing her powers and the the threat she posed in turn.. I believe - it's been a while since I played). Zeratul let her know that there is the home planet of the alien Zerg where pure specimen are which can evolve like crazy as you saw. There, she gains her alien form back, so she can finally get her revenge. There is a cool cinematic for the end of Hearth of the Storm as well which wraps this up. After this, we focus on the Protoss, the other alien guys with the lightsaber blades a little bit in chapter 3, Legacy of the Void. They wanted to retake their homeworld, you saw the intro cinematic for this one already. After that, as chapter 3 and the whole of StarCraft II comes to an end, all races have to combine forces against Amon, a Xel'naga gone bad (the are an advanced alien race who created all of these three races, essentially). Zeratul who studied the Xel'naga prophecies try to nudge everyone to this goal from the beginning (that's why he visits Kerrigan and lets her know of the Zerg homeworld so she could regain her powers - I believe). There is a cinematic of Zeratul visiting Jim Raynor, lover of Kerrigan in Wings of Liberty (middle of chapter 1). Also, there is one in Legacy of the Void (middle of chapter 3) where Zeratul saves his Protoss brethren by freeing the leader, Artanis of the control of Amon so they too could join forces against him. Amon was controlling them via the Khala. As you saw in the Legacy of the Void intro cinematic, Protoss are connected by the Khala. It's their hair basically, that synchronizes their brains, thoughts with one another. Zeratul was exiled long before (long story short), so he was not on this connection (his "hair" was cut). The good guys of all races team up with Kerrigan. Things escalate very quickly, and Kerrigan accepts the powers of the good Xel'naga (who are now gone) and to kill Amon and save everyone. So to sum it up, there are a few cinematics you should watch to get a more complete picture, mainly the endings of the specific chapters: The Betrayal - happened in ScarCraft 1 - you saw it here. Wings of Liberty intro - you saw it. Zeratul visits Jim Raynor: ua-cam.com/video/rLO8qVEr3FE/v-deo.html Wings of Liberty ending: ua-cam.com/video/LOjDr6Xgk7s/v-deo.html Heart of the Swarm intro - you saw it. Zeratul visits Kerrigan and other cinematics - you saw this here. Heart of the Swarm ending: ua-cam.com/video/kScAk4L7Y3Q/v-deo.html Legacy of the Void intro - you saw it. Zeratul sets off to go back to his people. ua-cam.com/video/WCTWCB4RvGw/v-deo.html Zeratul frees the Protoss leader, Artanis (and in turn, all of his people): ua-cam.com/video/1YaSTqQtyPg/v-deo.html (the title is a spoiler, unfortunately) Legacy of the Void ending: ua-cam.com/video/7D_9KIHgBWM/v-deo.html There are more, of course, if you want the details, but as for getting an overall understanding of how all these characters relate to each other and what the main story is these are the ones I'd recommend. Some of them are in-game style cinematics, or have in-game style portions but those look quite good as well alongside the full-blown CGI ones. If you don't have time/want to watch all of them, seeing the three chapter endings should be sufficient - and cool, please do! Take care! :)
TLDR: Watch these at lest: Wings of Liberty ending: ua-cam.com/video/LOjDr6Xgk7s/v-deo.html Heart of the Swarm ending: ua-cam.com/video/kScAk4L7Y3Q/v-deo.html Legacy of the Void ending: ua-cam.com/video/7D_9KIHgBWM/v-deo.html Have a nice day! 😁
@@briancastaneda5500 Of course! They usually ask about the story and characters so that's why I summed it up with some more cinematic recommendations too. If they are interested, they can read the summary if want to find out the story and what order these bits go together - how the game structured it's story. StarCraft is a hard one because these cinematics are really part of the game's story campaign and most of the context is in there. There is nothing wrong with being wrong about the story and the characters, guessing what's what is part of the fun. :)
It helps me to remember the chronological order by her general appearance and eyes: - Terran (human) with red hair before betrayal - Green/yellow eyes is after she has been turned into a zerg by the zerg Overmind and shortly after she takes over the zerg (all in starcraft 1) - Orange eyes is after the events of Starcraft 1 but before her capture - Pale green eyes is after she has been partially returned to being a Terran - Purple eyes and glowing veins in her face is after she has become a primal zerg Any fans feel free to correct me. I only remember this from watching a friend play and am not a big player myself. I just love Kerrigan.
that's all correct yes, although her "partially returned" state is more easily recognisable by the fact that she's human but still has zerg tendrils for hair. The fact that she went from pure human to pure zerg, then back to almost human before assuming a nearly identical but recoloured pure zerg form makes it an utter nightmare to guess the order without context, and it really shows here.
Maybe you missed it: Her magazin was already empty. You can hear the *clicks* after she shoots the big Zerg into the head. The whole scene is a flashback of the Starcraft 1 game from 1997. And she can't hide because her camoflage suit needs to recharge for a bit of time.
at 8:00 min thats an encounter before wings of liberty or in it before she got (saved) by the xel naga artefact at the end of wings of liberty. In that encounter she is under control of amon and not her free will.
It's pretty cool to see non-starcraft-obsessed folks watching these cinematics. I hope you guys are enjoying these. Fyi, the first movie in particular hits a heavy heartstring with the original Starcraft players (even before Brood War). This is a modern remake of a pinnacle moment that could be perhaps the most important point in all of Starcraft history. I'm sure all the OG nerds from 1997 were just as excited as I was when we got to see this, 18 years later.
Everyone's saying you're watching these out of order (which is true) but nobody is saying which order you SHOULD watch them in. That's because a lot of these are in-game cinematics that you get as the game progresses through the story, problem is that Starcraft 2 Wings of Liberty, where several of these cinematics are, is a game with a branching storyline, aka the choices you make impact which cinematics you see and when you see them. There is of course a "canon" (meaning primary/official) order to them. In fact there's 2, depending on if you want the chronological (accurate to the official timeline of Starcraft) or the release date order. I'll list the release date order here for Starcraft Wings of Liberty: The Deal, Public Enemy, Old Times, Escape from Mar Sara, Queen of Blades, Zeratul's Warning, The Prophecy, The Betrayal, Who We Choose to Be, A Better Tomorrow, Heir Apparent, Bar Fight, Dangerous Game, Card to Play, Fire and Fury, The Showdown. Check replies to my message for the other two games, Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void. Also, some of the ones I listed here you've already watched. (The Deal, the Betrayal, The Prophecy and The Showdown)
For Heart of the Swarm, the videos are: Heart of the Swarm, Hopes and Fears, Get it Together, Choices, Transmission, Conscience, Birthworld (Which you've seen), Reborn, Shifting Perspectives (Which you saw, where she fights the other version of herself), Believe in Me and finally Ascension. These follow directly after Wings of Liberty and before Legacy of the Void.
For Legacy of the Void, there's a short prologue which consists of two cinematics: Trail of Secrets and A Prophecy Revealed, directly following this is the main story's cinematics: Unity (The Legacy of the Void intro cinematic you've watched), Reclamation, Zeratul's Vision, Chains, Rescue, Arkship, Warriors, Alone (BEST CINEMATIC IN SC2), Unlikely Allies, Entombed, Unshackled, Path of the Warrior and finally Legacy. Legacy of the Void also has an Epilogue campaign with 4 cinematics: An Unexpected Meeting, Last Shepherd of the Cycle, Cycle's End and Homecoming.
In total you've got about two hours worth of video here. Most can easily be found on youtube, but usually as part of playthroughs or commentaries. There's also some "cinematic videos" which is a collection of the cinematics, I recommend looking at those. The only one that can be out of order is Wings of Liberty, because of its branching storylines. I also didn't include the cinematics that have no direct impact on the story itself (in Wings of Liberty there's 3, two of which are mutually exclusive in-game and the third is opposite of Who We Choose to Be), and in Legacy of the Void several of the cinematics are tied directly into the campaign missions or the intermission stuff you can do aboard the Arkship, so about a third of the cinematics are missing from my list since they dont have separate listings in the game.
@@Miesha88 I'd also recommend watching the Legacy of the Void trailer called "Reclamation" it discusses the backstory of the Protoss and takes place just before the invasion of Aiur.
If someone will do a reaction of Starcraft 2 base on cutscenes of the game, we can sort things out like make an in-order playlist or a video that explains every cutscenes they may see, in-order. If you are Non-starcraft player, making a reaction to a seemingly-random-scenes from the game is utterly confusing and cannot be able to understand the gist of the story. But i am glad that some of you here are explaining the scenes that these reactors have seen. :)
What a simple concept for videos. I'm new to this channel, but I can see the novelty because it's enjoyable to see someone who doesn't know about your fandom reacting to it. It sucks because you have that nagging urge to tell them what's going on but can't haha. Do we put suggestions here? I want to put forth you guys checking out Fiddlesticks: Terror in Demacia, even though there isn't much story in the game itself. It's a real nice video.
A few points to note. In the video, it tells you she's out of ammo. After her last kill, she's keeps pulling the trigger but all you hear is clicks from the gun. The other thing is her invisibility isn't unlimited. Her cloaking works for a certain amount of time and has to recharge. So she can't hide and she can't fight. She's surrounded and she knows she's been abandoned.
Y'all are watching these episodes out of order, there is an entire movie you can find on youtube that shows all the cinematics from SC1 and SC2 in order from every race and tells a better story and gives a better understanding of what is going on in the game if you would like. But the best way to understand how everything works is to either play the game or to watch someone on youtube like Lowko playthrough SC1 and SC2 and that way you can enjoy the amazing story and world that is SC and the adventures there in.
Video order: 1st video, 3rd video, 2nd video, 4th video happen in that order. The first video takes place in the first game, the 3nd video takes place years later before Starcraft 2 Wings of Liberty (part 1), the 2nd video happens early-middle in Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm (part 2) story, while the 4th video happens in the mid-late part of the story for that same game. There is a 3rd part of the story, Starcraft 2 Legacy of the Void, but no cutscnees from that one are in these 4 videos. As for some additional explanation on just what is actually going on. In Starcraft 1, Kerrigan is betrayed, but the Zerg were looking for someone like her to Infest so in Video 1 they captured her and later infested her into a zerg, creating the Queen of Blades seen in video 3, a mind controlled slave hellbent on destruction. Just before Starcraft 2 part 1, Zeratul, the Green protoss seen in video 3 is looking at ancient Ruins of the god like Xel-Naga race when video 3 happens. Shortly after that, he learns that Kerrigan's survival is critical to stop the ultimate big bad Amon. In Wings of Liberty (part 1), Raynor (guy on the comm in the armor in the first video) learns from Zeratul how important Kerrigan is, and is then given an opportunity to cleanse her of her infestation and mind control. He takes it, turning her into the human form with Zerg hair seen in the 3rd video. This leads into Heart of the Swarm (part 2), where Kerrigan seeks revenge against Mengsk. Zeratul then tells her how to gain power on Zeras in the 3rd video, which turns her back into the Queen of Blades, but now with free will intact. Narud, the shapeshifter in the 4th video, is a servant of the big bad Amon.
This first cinematic recalls a scene that occured in the first Starcraft game where she was used by Mengsk (the guy that says to "Belay that order, we're moving out") to put something called a psi emitter on the planet Tarsonis. Zerg are psychically linked in a hivemind and psi emitters can be detected by the zerg across star systems. They are drawn to the signal the emitters give off. The planet she is on, Tarsonis, was the capital of the old Terran Confederacy. Mengsk, Kerrigan and Raynor, (the guy in power armor) were all allied trying to over throw the Confederacy. The reason Mengsk abandoned her to her fate was because she had objected to using psi emitters to wipe out an entire planet. The rifle she is using is called the C-10 canister rifle. The c-10 fires explosive rounds. Rifle refers to the barrel type, not the receiver, so it can be aan automatic, a semi-auto, or single shot weapon. What makes something a rifle is having a spiral grove in the barrel that makes the projectile spin which increases accuracy. She did go out guns blazing. She ran out of ammunition. If you watch it again, at about 2:14 in your video you can see her pulling the trigger and hearing "click... click..." Yes, she was the only one there. Sarah Kerrigan was a Confederate Ghost, basically spies trained in a secret government program to learn how to use psionic abilities to make themselves disappear. In the lore they often work alone, in practice playing the game though, they are highly effective in groups.
It's hard to cover a video game's cinematics, because there's a few critical in-game cutscenes and dialogue in between the cinematics. Such as Kerrigan losing Jim in their escape, Stukov VS Narud/Duran who killed him in SC1, Evil Kerrigan catching on to Jim's plan to unevilify her, Horner saying there's a problem in the science lab, Finding Zagara, Kerrigan becoming primal and the Origin Spawning Pool, Kerrigan VS The Ancient One, Alarak's Rak'shir, etc :/
If i remember correctly, that time of betrayal, she volunteed her self to delay the zergs, so every body could leave, and then they just left her there to die, they could have pull her to the ship, but they don't. So the zergs took her, and turned her into The Queen, becouse of they power she had. She was aready powerful as Human.
The Zerg were a species that had the ability to evolve by absorbing the essence of things they killed. The way the Zerg Evolution used to work was that two Zerg would fight to the death and the winner would take on the powers of both. After they were twisted and mutated by the Xel'Naga, who enslaved them to a creation called The Overmind. This turned them into a hive-like species. Their DNA was then spliced into many different creatures from different races until the Zerg themselves became what you currently see in the game. In-game a scientist named Egon Stetmann was able to determine that the way Zerg mutation worked was that it takes the original concept of 'fighting to the death' but reduces it to a cellular level. Essentially how Zerg DNA works is that it produces A-Cells which are specifically designed to simply create random mutations in the host, and it also produces B-Cells who have the express purpose of trying to destroy the A-Cells. A-Cells that survive pass their mutation onto the host. Those that don't are eliminated. This process was refined by a unique Zerg called Abathur who became their mutation specialist, basically the closest thing the Zerg have to an engineer. (Funny story though: Abathur is basically this HUGE creature with a very tiny head who is more or less a complete nerd compared to other Zerg and even though he is incredibly smart and knows everything there is to know about Zerg biology is generally picked on and viewed as weak by the other Zerg leaders such as Zagara, the Brood Mother.) Also, Kerrigan's rifle is known as the c-10 canister rifle, which is standard issue for Ghosts, which is what Kerrigan was before she was infested by The Overmind and turned into the Queen of Blades.
I know a lot of people are complaining about these being out of order, but honestly that is more fun in my opinion. Very interesting to see how they attempt to interpret what is actually happening based on very limited (and somewhat misleading) information.
You’re watching them out or order the video of Kerrigan getting betrayed is a flashback to an event from Starcraft 1. It’s how she originally became the Queen of Blades. The 3rd & 4th videos you watched, of the Queen of Blades fighting Zera’Tul & the shape shifter are from StarCraft 2, Wings of Liberty. At the end, Jim & his friends free Kerrigan, turning her back into a human, for the most part. That leads into the 1st Xpac, Heart if the Swarm. The earlier video you watched of Kerrigan dreaming of attacking a planet as the Queen of Blades is the intro. The 2nd video here is of Kerrigan after the beginning of Heart of the Swarm. She & Jim we’re separated during an attack & he gets killed. He was her only link to humanity, so she went back to the Zerg. Zera’Tul returns to her now because the Zerg need her. The shaper shifter from the video is an agent of Amon, a dark god. Without Kerrigan, as the Queen of Blades, to control the Zerg, they will come under his control, and become to powerful fir anyone to stop.
Even totally out of order, you seem to be getting a clearer idea of the SC2 story. Some of earlier ones were way off, but this one was really close, which is pretty impressive since you haven't experienced the whole game. It's fun to watch!
the TL:DR of it is the yellow eyed Kerrigan was purified back into a mostly human form. She then voluntarily became infested again but without the outside influence that made her crazy before. That's where the purple eyed Kerrigan comes in. And yes Narud is a shapeshifter.
2:40 - wanted to let you know it's never Earth. SC saga mostly takes place in the Koprulu sector or not too far from it, which is a completely different galaxy sector from the one Earth is in. This particular planet is Tarsonis, the capital world of Terran Confederacy, the original government of Terrans from the very beginning of SC1. Arcturus Mengsk (the bad guy who abandoned Kerrigan) rebelling against the Confederacy with the help of Jim Raynor and Sarah Kerrigan and setting up Terran Dominion with himself as an emperor, and Raynor rebelling against Mengsk after the betrayal is the main theme of the first campaign of SC1 (the Terrans campaign), which is actually called Rebel Yell. Between this name and things like "New Gettysburg", "Terran Confederacy" and the way many Terran characters talk, Terrans are actually heavily Dixie-themed.
Kerrigan was a Ghost, a terran with psionic abilities. Zerg are attracted to psionic waves and since ghosts emanate these waves there is no way she would have been able to hide from the swarm. When the Zerg took her, the Overmind (the commander of the swarm at the time) turned her in to the Queen of Blades. Eventually the Overmind is killed and Reynor captures her and they are able to change her (mostly) back to normal. That is why she looks normal when fighting Zeratul but she kept the hair and still retains some of her powers. Eventually Reynor gets captured, and they broadcast to the public that he was executed. This drives Kerrigan to return to the swarm and uses them to carry out her vengence on Mengsk, not only for what he did to her but also because she thought he killed Reynor. When she once again becomes the queen of blades, she retains her mind instead of being controlled by the Overmind. Since the Overmind was killed, the swarm became fractured and smaller groups were being controlled by creatures called queens, or broodmothers. Once Kerrigan became the queen of blades once again, she reunited the swarm under her control and used it to finish off Mengsk. Mengsk pretty much doomed himself when he sent the message that Reynor was dead because that was the catalyst that prompted her to readopt her identity as the Queen of Blades.
New subscriber, just finished watching/playing the sc2 campaign about a week ago. I recommend you watch the cinematic in order like a movie. It has an incredible story and you keep missing vital parts when you just get these quick clips
I don't know if it has been said yet, but it is probably a little more confusing based on the order you watched. A better time line view would be 1st clip, 3rd clip, 2nd clip and then 4th clip. I would also recommend if you haven't yet watch the ending for wings of liberty in between 3 and 2. Love your videos either way!
that there is the key scene of all starcraft.the zerg(those creatures) are not killing her, but capture her and transforme her into some king of zerg-human hybrid due to her psionic abilitys. this Happens in the early game of starcraft 1, after that lots of things happen and in the secound part kerrigan ends the first game by kicking every1 s ass . they few survivors raynor one of them( the dude you see in the screen) flew away from zerg colonies. when starcraft 2 starts raynor find an old friend( new caracter to us all) tycus findley, the dude you see in the wings of liberty trailer and starts gathering sione alien atrifacts that without knowing in the beginning that artifact turns kerrigan back to her human form, execpt the hair. the secound trailer you watched, heart of the swarm its a kerrigan dream, you remember she woke up ?. the secound video you watch is a protoss called Zeratul showing Kerrigan how to transform herself back into the zerg, but this time she is not under the influence if the Overmind( the brain that controls the zerg) and she is more powerfull also.zeratul kerrigan have a bad history between them kerrigan killeed a lot of the protoss while she was the Quenn of blades, yet zeratul saw a profecy in witch somehow kerrigan was the salvation of the entire galaxy, thats why he helps her. the third video its zeraul metting kerrigan in some ancient temple where the profecy was.kerrigan you see there is before se was transformed back into human.and also knew about the profecy. the 4th video its again kerrigan but this time with her secound transformacion. fighting a very powerfull being that can shapeshift his body. the first form is jim raynor the persone who kerrigan always loved. the secound transformation is actually herself. before she was a zerg.
zerglings are the small dog looking ones. Hydralisks are the snake ones that spit spines. Ultralisks are the MASSIVE ones that crush everything in there path. Zeratul is a good guy....VERY powerful good guy.
6:40 Primal zergs are always evolving everytime they consume something they dont already have, theyre feral, unorganized and always trying to evolve to be the best at every task by consuming other creatures essence. The zerg from the swarm, the ones "altered" by the dark one: amon and now free under the control of kerrigan, the queen of blades (and later under control of zagara) are already evolved, they relay more in numbers and eficiency every unit is always at the top of what they are or what they are used for, each unit fulfills a role in the swarm and when necesary (a dificulty or a chance of improvement for an specific type of zerg) they are altered or evolved by superior entities like abathur, the swarms evolution master, or the queen herself, but never on their own. there are rare cases aplied here with the unit called queens, entities created by kerrigan to help her extend and mantain control of the swarm, they are designed to learn, and in some cases (like with the queen called zagara), they evolve by themselves, just to an extent tho.
They're not really feral, if they were feral they'd be unable to communicate, the HotS campaign shows that some of them can communicate, they're just mostly too aggressive to bother with anything other than threats.
She cannot remain invisible forever. Her energy runs out or the zerg moves an overlord into place. In "Wings of Liberty", she was possessed by Amon. Once the overmind was destroyed and the Protos keystone sucked Amon out of her, she became human again. She was bent on revenge but she was no longer evil. In "Heart of the Swarm", she continues her revenge arch and starts her hunt for Amon. She was forced to become the Queen of Blades again to save Jim Raynor from the Dominion. She becomes the Queen of Blades as a sacrifice to save Raynor.
Well... too many people already said that you did watch them in the wrong order... However is funny seeing your reactions and trying to make sense out of it.
So this is kinda all out of order. Jim Raynor, the human who wanted to save her, basically became her boyfriend in the first game. He's a badass, but doesn't have any special powers. As a human, when she had regular red hair, she was an elite soldier. Basically special forces, but composed of only humans with some natural psychic abilities. Not hugely strong though. After she was betrayed, she was captured by the Zerg and "infested". The Zerg are the weird bug aliens that have the ability to modify their own genetics to incorporate traits of other creatures. This is the "Evolution" mentioned. The zerg are a sort of hive mind, controlled by a massive immobile creature called the Overmind. Unbeknownst to the humans, the Overmind was actually created by a sort of evil god named Amon, and was effectively programmed with a compulsion to follow a plan Amon had laid out. It circumvented this by taking the captured Kerrigan and greatly enhancing her natural abilities as she was infested, for the sake of allowing her to effectively replace the Overmind, but without the biological imperative to do as Amon intended. In this form, she was called "The Queen of Blades". At the end of the first campaign of Starcraft 2, Kerrigan is reunited with Jim Raynor as he uses an artifact left by others of Amon's species to mostly revert her back to human. She still possessed some zerg DNA, so she still had the weird tentacle hair, and could still somewhat mentally communicate with the zerg, but to a limited degree. However, after the station she and Jim are on is attacked, and Jim Raynor goes MIA, presumably captured, she decides that the only course to save him is to attempt to regain her previous powers as the Queen of Blades. In the process, Zeratul, the alien with the green light blade, actually helps her. He directs her to the birthplace of the Zerg, where she can be basically reinfested, and actually becomes more powerful than she was previously. Zeratul is a sort of loner, neutral party to most of the other factions. He had been investigating Amon and the other Xel'Naga, and eventually pretty much pieced together what was really going on, and just went around talking to leaders of other factions to give them directions regarding the upcoming threat of Amon. The four phases of Kerrigan can be identified, relatively easily. 1: Human. Red hair. This you see in the betrayal cinematic. 2: Queen of blades. Green face, weird creepy stuff. This is the form when she fought Zeratul. 3: Human again, tentacle hair. You see the previous form in the Heart of the Swarm cinematic, followed by this one at the end as she wakes up from the dream, which is effectively her being haunted by her previous mindset as the queen of blades. 4: Queen of Blades again. She looks similar to the previous time, but now has glowing purple streaks on the sides of her face, and her general color scheme is less green and more purples and browns. You see her in this form when Zeratul grabs her face, says "Believe" and shows her a vision of Zerus. That should pretty much give the context.
The betrayal scene had a lot more to do with what was going on when that mission happened. You and Marshall raynor joined up with a freedom fighter/terrorist cell. You go on missions with her and Jim, where you get introduced to their personalities - and as a team, it's stated that the cell was extremely loyal to her and by proxy Jim. Megnsk betrayed her because she basically became more popular. Jim also voiced decent about this mission before it ever happened and Kerrigan chose to go anyway - i don't remember why Raynor didn't go down. I remember playing this mission for the first time and literally having to take a break after. Also, the Ghost abilities deplete their psi energy and they can't use them when they're on empty. The magazine is empty, you can hear the click click click in the vid. Not that it would have mattered.
A ghost, which is what Kerrigan is, is an elite soldier that was trained in tactical recon and precision strike missions. They are basically trained from childhood up from those who demonstrate 'psychic powers'. Cloaking is one of their skills, but it doesn't last forever, and is made useless by special 'detector' units. Zerg units are typically weaker compared to the other races but their power is in numbers. The Overmind, the 'brain' of the zerg, spared Kerrigan because it saw potential in her. I think she is the ONLY one it ever spared. By the time the Overmind was finally killed, Kerrigan had become so powerful that she was able to control most of the swarm with her mind. She becomes hellbent on revenge and is main villain of the first game. She is, in fact, so powerful that literally everyone else combined cannot stop her. The Terrans attempted to retreat and notify Earth of the threat, but not a single ship made it home. And the Protoss, the race with the ungodly technology had their homeworld taken from them and were pushed to the brink of extinction. The first game ends on a little bit of a cliff hanger, but it's probably one of the rare instances in popular fiction where the bad guys win. Of course, the story continues with SC2, but that was over a decade later.
that particular cinematic had certain things very wrong. kerrigan was a "ghost"(a type of spy unit). ghosts are armed with a very potent and slow-firing rifle, and they can cloack, and they can mark an area for a nuclear strike. her rifle shouldnt fire that fast. and she should have had the ability to cloak. also those are events from star craft 1 that they introduced as a flashback in star craft 2.
since you guys have gone through alot of the blizzard game cinematics you should take a look at the Heroes of the storm cinematic trailer, it's a game that crosses all of the blizzard games into one game. Cinematic was pretty cool ;)
You guys should watch the 2hr youtube movie comprised of all the Star Craft 2 cinematics (in the proper order). It would help with better understanding the storyline and realize what's really happening in the universe.
1. After she was abandoned, she was captured and reformed by Zerg. She lost her human mind and become a Zerg queen. 2. In Wings of Liberty, the cowboy human managed to defeat her, brought back her human form and restored her human mind. 3. In Hearts of swarm, they were attacked by the bad human emperor who betrayed her at first place. She escaped, but the Cowboy was captured 4. In order to rescue the cowboy, she needs her Zerg army and Zerg power back, at this moment, the alien dude told her about the origin of Zerg 5. She went to Zerg mother planet and kill shit tons of stuff, evolve into Zerg queen again. But this time she didn’t lose her human mind. 6. She rescued the cowboy, killed the bad human emperor and got her revenge. 7. In Legacy of the Void, she became the most powerful being in the universe, basically a god
You've watched these out of order. In the original StarCraft, Kerrigan was left on Tarsonis by Arcturus Mengsk and captured by the Zerg. The Zerg turned her into a Terran (human) Zerg hybrid to make her the new leader of the Zerg. The reason for this was because the Zerg Overmind was created by a Xel'Naga named Amon (a.k.a. The Dark One or The Fallen One) so that they would become his weapon to create chaos in the universe and ultimately bring about his return. The Overmind eventually understood that the Zerg wouldn't survive if they continued to be Amon's pawns, but it couldn't escape Amon's will so it began looking for something to replace it. Enter Kerrigan. However, when Kerrigan became the Queen of Blades, she inherited some of Amon's corruption in the process which is why she almost has free will but is also incredibly evil. In Wings of Liberty, Jim fights to lead a revolution against Mengsk's empire that he established after using Kerrigan to overthrow the old government. Jim also is tracking down pieces of a Xel'Naga artifact so he can fund his revolution. Eventually it is revealed that the person funding his artifact hunt is Arcturus's son, Valerian Mengsk, who wants to be a better ruler than his father and seeks to prove this by removing the Queen of Blades as a threat to humanity. It's also revealed that the artifact he's been assembling has the ability to make Kerrigan human again, which is exactly what happens at the end of the campaign. Now we get to Heart of the Swarm. In Heart of the Swarm, Kerrigan is human again but Arcturus launches a raid against the facility where Kerrigan, Valerian, and Jim are hiding. During their escape, Kerrigan and Jim get separated and Jim doesn't make it out. Kerrigan then slowly reestablishes herself as the leader of the Zerg so she can wage war against Mengsk and get revenge for leaving her to die all those years ago and for supposedly killing Jim. During her campaign, Zeratul comes to her and tells her she needs to go to Zerus to become even more powerful if she is to survive the true war when Amon returns. While on Zerus, she absorbs the power of the First Zerg Spawning Pool and once again is a Terran/Zerg hybrid although this time she's free of Amon's influence and has total control of her mind.
To put this in a simple order: Human -> Transformed into zerg by their collective consciousness -> Good guys kill that consciousness, kerrigan takes over and is evil -> Boyfriend purifies her thanks to a strange artifact but she can still control zergs ("dreadlocks") -> She thinks boyfriend is dead, wants revenge with zergs -> Becomes (primal) zerg again but not really evil and gets revenge -> Everyone against dark universe-ending god. For simple details: She was the closest officer to the guy that betrayed her to begin an empire by genocide against the old government. The emperor is Arcturus Mengsk, the boyfriend is Jim Raynor, the collective consciousness is "the Overmind", the evil god is Amon (A traitor to the "Xel'Naga" who built the universe).
Kinda Missing the best part. The Raynor and Kerrigan tragic love story is one of the most poetic of all time and makes Raynor one of the most enduring tragic heroes in my opinion. Which is why I still wear my Raynor dog tags from Wings of Liberty from time to time.
to be fair, Blizzard made it a little confusing to anyone unfamiliar with the series, because Kerrigan's original human form and her purged-zerg form look different, but her first and 2nd zerg form look pretty much the same. The funny thing is, in both of her human forms, her personality is roughly the same, but in both of her zerg forms, her personality is wholly different.
i love your reactions but like the others says in the previus comments you need to see them in the right order. also you need to see the ingame cutscenes to understent what happens in the story line. (the cutscenes are insane too, beleave me and thank me later). enw like i say before your reactions are pure gold, thnx and take always care of you.
Basically theyre fighting gmo apocalypse Amon has done some nasty stuff...Its a very good story ,enjoy exploring it,if you havent completed all the stuff alredy i suggest you check the full cutscene vids for protoss storyline arc.
She was out of ammo, and the Zerg (aliens) and sense her exact location. She was doomed. So, then she was turned into a human-zerg hybrid, since she had some psychic powers, and the Hivemind of the zerg at the time wanted that power.
They out of order there. Kerrigan first got betrayed, became evil complete with yellow eyes (did some really bad stuff, killed trillions), got turned back human but not good (Still kind of a psycho who likes killing to much) then turned back into evil form but good (not yellow eyes). She work with everyone else to save universe. The End.
You have wrong order. Betrayal -> fight with Zeratul as Queen of Blades (red eyes) -> fight with Zeratul as "human" -> Then fight with Narud (the shapeshifter) as Primal Queen. (and you are missing the last one :) )
It's hard to connect to this quite as much as an actual fan of the games would because there's so much more text/gameplay/cinematics that put into context all you see here. If either of you actually likes science fiction you should definitely read up about the story of Starcraft (I'm sure there's a detailed explanation of the entire thing somewhere on the internet). After all, there's books (something like 14 now?) written about some of these events and much more than what happens in the stories. I know you guys are just reacting to it but may be an interesting read to anyone that loves futuristic fiction. If not, I'll leave you with this. Jim is the main protagonist in this story from the very first Starcraft game and is the good guy. Kerrigan was a good character and had a complicated relationship with Jim until her betrayal where she was presumed dead but was actually captured by the Zerg and became their champion and later their queen. She did eventually regain a neutral-ish status with the humans and I won't spoil any more than that. Arcturus Mengsk who was the one on the space ship that made the order to abandon her was briefly good, then questionable, then bad for almost entirety of the game series. He was later replaced by someone else who became a greater villain. Also can't forget the 3rd race (Protoss) which are highly advanced Alien species with a tonne of content on their histories. They had a few leaders throughout the games but the most notable are Zeratul who fights Kerrigan at the 5 minute fight and Artanis who we don't see in any of these clips but becomes very significant later in the story. Tonnes of other powerful and interesting characters ofcourse but these are the most notable. I grew up with this game series and I still re-play the games occasionally
She's out of bullets, her cloaking device has limited charge, no radio signal and she is severely outnumbered. And most importantly, she is devastated by betrayal. That angry man asking not to leave her is her beloved one. So she thinks he also left her to die.
I guess it would have been less confusing if you guys had seen the cinematics in the correct order ... It was a real mess 😅🙈🙈 One honest and good advice: Just play (and enjoy) the game!! It's just so awesome!!!!
they don't kill her because she's a "ghost". a ghost is a black ops soldier with psionic abilities. the zerg are very sensitive to psionics. she's not just any ghost. she's one of the best if not the best. her psionic capabilities are above the other ghosts in the army. so they take her and they "infest" her to make her a new kind of zerg soldier. she then becomes the queen of blades after killing the zerg hivemind.
Well, you've seen story in wrong chronology... At the begining Kerrigan were betrayed by one of human leaders, captured by Zergs(biological aliens, beasts), and transformed into Queen of blades(evil) and she lead them. Than Raynor(her beloved) with the help of some guys and artifact overcomed Zergs and Queen of blades and transformed Kerrigan back into human. But than, Raynor were captured by the same guy who betrayed her in the past, and she took control of Zergs again. Zerstul(other alien, with green light saber) adviced her to evolve again to become stronger and prepare for coming battle. So she decided to transform again into Zerg, became new Queen of blades(more powerful and relatively good one) and kill bad guys(all her enemies).
The "seen this kinda big guy" is slightly off - the big guys you saw in the other shots are Ultralisks - huge ass things bigger than tanks. This is a Hydralisk, bigger than a human but nowhere near Ultra size.
Different galaxy edit: her powers were exactly the same just extremely low power. The zerg nevermind enhanced that to rebel against the creature that enslaved it. She has been freed of that "overmind" enslavement. Now she must become a creature pure of essence and pure of mind. 7:21. 11:24 they're out of order... this one came BEFORE the other. She's still the queen of blades enslaved by the overmind. She's freed at the end of wings of liberty. Becomes a true zerg at the end of heart of the swarm.
4:15 Kerrigan had a, umm..."controversial past". 6:43 It depends on the creature and the desires of the Hive. Zerg is pretty much the Borg of Star Trek. They even have the same number of letters and the same last two letters.
You should have watched all the Kerrigan scenes. The second video was after she got turned back into a human... You didn't even see what she became when the zerg captured her
she cant hide she is out of ammo and since she is a ghost they can sense her psi impulse and she cant go invis beacuse it will take energy and will uncloack
I want to see you review the gameplay of this game in online mode it is one of the most popular (and the oldest) esports. you will not be disappointed.
I recently asked a Friend "Who do you think is the best female Character in SciFi?". He thought for a moment and answered: "Sarah Kerrigan" and I agree with him.
So,please! Look these video in order ! Look for the compilation of all the video of one game in order: Wings of Liberty Heart of the swarm And legacy of the void.
You need to watch the ending cinematics for each of the three parts of the game. And yeah, these were really out of order :D It would've been 2-1-3 chronologically
A more powerful version of her old self, but still keeping her own mind
The events from the 3rd video is actually in a timeline between the first two.
You think we should suggest them to look into Arthanis vs Zergs on Shakuras, and then maybe Kerrigan zerg rebirth on Zeratus?
@@xXCursedWorgenXx I was purposely avoiding details about Amon so that it is less confusing and not as long. Thank you for adding it in though, good touch.
Hope these guys see you comment, short and clear. GJ
Love StarCraft, and love watching you guys discover it together so many years later. Thanks for the fun trip down memory lane. :D
So to sum it up, there are a few cinematics you should watch to get a more complete picture, mainly the endings of the specific chapters:
The Betrayal - happened in ScarCraft 1 - you saw it here.
Wings of Liberty intro - you saw it.
Zeratul visits Jim Raynor: ua-cam.com/video/rLO8qVEr3FE/v-deo.html
Wings of Liberty ending: ua-cam.com/video/LOjDr6Xgk7s/v-deo.html
Heart of the Swarm intro - you saw it.
Zeratul visits Kerrigan and other cinematics - you saw this here.
Heart of the Swarm ending: ua-cam.com/video/kScAk4L7Y3Q/v-deo.html
Legacy of the Void intro - you saw it.
Zeratul sets off to go back to his people. ua-cam.com/video/WCTWCB4RvGw/v-deo.html
Zeratul frees the Protoss leader, Artanis (and in turn, all of his people): ua-cam.com/video/1YaSTqQtyPg/v-deo.html (the title is a spoiler, unfortunately)
Legacy of the Void ending: ua-cam.com/video/7D_9KIHgBWM/v-deo.html
There are more, of course, if you want the details, but as for getting an overall understanding of how all these characters relate to each other and what the main story is these are the ones I'd recommend. Some of them are in-game style cinematics, or have in-game style portions but those look quite good as well alongside the full-blown CGI ones. If you don't have time/want to watch all of them, seeing the three chapter endings should be sufficient - and cool, please do! Take care! :)
TLDR: Watch these at lest:
Wings of Liberty ending: ua-cam.com/video/LOjDr6Xgk7s/v-deo.html
Heart of the Swarm ending: ua-cam.com/video/kScAk4L7Y3Q/v-deo.html
Legacy of the Void ending: ua-cam.com/video/7D_9KIHgBWM/v-deo.html
Have a nice day! 😁
I mean they’re new to this so can’t argue much it’s a great explanation but understand they’re deducing what they see without knowing the story playa
They are watching them out of order.
I have to let you know you're watching these Starcraft vids waaaay out of order.
@Amirus Yep, but most of these are separated by a ton of important events, like kerrigan's purification.
It helps me to remember the chronological order by her general appearance and eyes:
- Terran (human) with red hair before betrayal
- Green/yellow eyes is after she has been turned into a zerg by the zerg Overmind and shortly after she takes over the zerg (all in starcraft 1)
- Orange eyes is after the events of Starcraft 1 but before her capture
- Pale green eyes is after she has been partially returned to being a Terran
- Purple eyes and glowing veins in her face is after she has become a primal zerg
Any fans feel free to correct me.
She is psychic, Zerg(aliens) are drawn to her psychic energy like a beacon. She cannot hide at that close range without cloak
No bullets, no support, no reinforcements, your boss just betrayed you, energy for cloak was depleted, Was something that she could do?
She has psychic powers as Ghost soldier. That's why zerg hive mind decided to leave her alive and to morph into one of them.
3:45 it showed she was out of ammo earlier in the scene
As always your show is off the chain! I love you guys. You both never fail to make my day.
"She can hide or become invisible"
You didn't play against Zerg, I notice that.
I like how they weren't in order... but it made more sense than if these videos had been in order
First one isn't really in SC2 tho.
It's a flashback from SC1 terran campaign.
Great stuff! Keep watching the Starcraft cinematics from the original game and broadwar expansion too!
Yup the origin of the abandoned soldier looking on as air support leaves the planet to die always a great scene
If you watch it again, at about 2:14 in your video you can see her pulling the trigger and hearing "click... click..."
Yes, she was the only one there.
(Funny story though: Abathur is basically this HUGE creature with a very tiny head who is more or less a complete nerd compared to other Zerg and even though he is incredibly smart and knows everything there is to know about Zerg biology is generally picked on and viewed as weak by the other Zerg leaders such as Zagara, the Brood Mother.)
Also, Kerrigan's rifle is known as the c-10 canister rifle, which is standard issue for Ghosts, which is what Kerrigan was before she was infested by The Overmind and turned into the Queen of Blades.
Dude got skills. Lol. He's a legend. Respected by all 3 races.
Dude I can't wait till they see kerrigan and artanis fight side by side
You should probably search the video: Starcraft 2 Cinematic in order, and go by that list of videos you haven't watched yet
yes, plz! I love the reactions, but it hurts to see trying to link events out of order. X)
Fun fact. Sarah Kerrigan is named after Olympic skater Nancy Kerrigan. Hence the nick name “Queen of Blades”.
since you guys have gone through alot of the blizzard game cinematics you should take a look at the Heroes of the storm cinematic trailer, it's a game that crosses all of the blizzard games into one game. Cinematic was pretty cool ;)
You guys should watch the 2hr youtube movie comprised of all the Star Craft 2 cinematics (in the proper order). It would help with better understanding the storyline and realize what's really happening in the universe.
You guys should do the Star Wars the old republic cinematics. They are amazing.
She escaped, but the Cowboy was captured
4. In order to rescue the cowboy, she needs her Zerg army and Zerg power back, at this moment, the alien dude told her about the origin of Zerg
1:56 Yep Kerrigan is the bomb! She's got some skills being one of the top Ghost operatives and all.
To put this in a simple order:
Human -> Transformed into zerg by their collective consciousness -> Good guys kill that consciousness, kerrigan takes over and is evil
-> Boyfriend purifies her thanks to a strange artifact but she can still control zergs ("dreadlocks") -> She thinks boyfriend is dead, wants revenge with zergs
-> Becomes (primal) zerg again but not really evil and gets revenge -> Everyone against dark universe-ending god.
For simple details:
She was the closest officer to the guy that betrayed her to begin an empire by genocide against the old government.
No idea why yous guys came across my dash, but you're real funny.
I love your reactions, but I wish you were watching them in the correct order.
It would make a lot more sense. XD But it is still good/fun to watch.
to be fair, Blizzard made it a little confusing to anyone unfamiliar with the series, because Kerrigan's original human form and her purged-zerg form look different, but her first and 2nd zerg form look pretty much the same. The funny thing is, in both of her human forms, her personality is roughly the same, but in both of her zerg forms, her personality is wholly different.
all the reaction i have seen regarding starcraft 2, yours is the best
i love your reactions but like the others says in the previus comments you need to see them in the right order. also you need to see the ingame cutscenes to understent what happens in the story line.
Ain't no hiding from the swarm.
The End.
She is using a different rifle then the gauss rifles the Marines use basically a granade Launcher called a c-10 canester rifle
You have wrong order.
Betrayal -> fight with Zeratul as Queen of Blades (red eyes) -> fight with Zeratul as "human" -> Then fight with Narud (the shapeshifter) as Primal Queen. (and you are missing the last one :) )
XD that's more than only out of order. it's creating an totaly new one
Lorewise full of gaps and terribly out of order but it still looks awesome :)
It was a real mess 😅🙈🙈
One honest and good advice: Just play (and enjoy) the game!! It's just so awesome!!!!
Hell hath no wrath... as they say.
they don't kill her because she's a "ghost". a ghost is a black ops soldier with psionic abilities. the zerg are very sensitive to psionics. she's not just any ghost. she's one of the best if not the best. her psionic capabilities are above the other ghosts in the army. so they take her and they "infest" her to make her a new kind of zerg soldier. she then becomes the queen of blades after killing the zerg hivemind.
Starcraft...the amazing history❤️
Some backstory to this was that Kerrigan was a brainwashed government assassin who killed Mengsks father, mother and sister.
4:15 Kerrigan had a, umm..."controversial past".
6:43 It depends on the creature and the desires of the Hive. Zerg is pretty much the Borg of Star Trek. They even have the same number of letters and the same last two letters.
I think in this situation I would be mad as hell at being screwed over. I would be more pissed at my guys than the enemy. I would submit as well.
You should have watched all the Kerrigan scenes. The second video was after she got turned back into a human... You didn't even see what she became when the zerg captured her
she cant hide she is out of ammo and since she is a ghost they can sense her psi impulse and she cant go invis beacuse it will take energy and will uncloack
you guys need to watch the story so far
and theres another one that talks about the story in line and you will know what happened to kerrigen
Search for one video of StarCraft II all cinematics. This can make you understand the history behind the game.
I want to see you review the gameplay of this game in online mode
it is one of the most popular (and the oldest) esports.
you will not be disappointed.
I recently asked a Friend "Who do you think is the best female Character in SciFi?". He thought for a moment and answered: "Sarah Kerrigan" and I agree with him.
Y'all should see "kerrigans revenge"
I would love to see you actually play and also check the cinematics of the first starcraft so this all makes more sense to you
The Queen of blades
i love watching these
So,please! Look these video in order ! Look for the compilation of all the video of one game in order:
Wings of Liberty
Heart of the swarm
And legacy of the void.
You are watching these in a random order, you shouldn't assume that they are connected the way you think.
tarsonis is the name of the planet she was on
even if she did turn invisible, the nukes would still get her
You need to watch the ending cinematics for each of the three parts of the game.
And yeah, these were really out of order :D It would've been 2-1-3 chronologically
You do really have to play the game. The cinematic make little sense without running through the story that is the game. Still Fun reaction
what I don't understand is why isn't there a movie of this game?
You were watching the videos out of sequence.
I am enjoying your reacts but you should do StarCraft in a chronological order
Anyone know the name of the second cinematic?
Please watch the cinematics in order
