@@HannaHsOverInvested do you clap to sync your sound? As you mentioned, you record both audio and video with your phone and I just don't see why do you have to clap other than just to make a quirky intro.
@@HannaHsOverInvested Let's just say most zerg are "designed"/mutated to fight and nothing but that. But when necessary they can add functions by mutating that way, Kerrigans right hand got mutated to be in general smarter.
Most zerglings have hive mind mentality. They feed and destroy and reproduce, like cockroaches. If Kerrigan told them to jump off a cliff they would do it. There are a few higher intellect Zerg characters that can communicate with Kerrigan and help her mutate the zerglings to have better traits and ability.
"Is there more for me to learn?" - Yes, there is a 2 hour cutscene compilation of all 3 expansions: ua-cam.com/video/bZ18Ms5FOCE/v-deo.html It's got all the major plot lines and main characters in it (however there are some minor story chunks missing, which are only told in real time within the game's missions). But it's got everything you need to know to follow the main storyline. So, if you want more.. Well, there you have it. 😅
Individual zerg is like a bee in a bee hive, so they dont really know what friend even means. Its the queen who controls them. Also the Zerg is basically a biological weapon created by the dark one, Amon.
Also the Zerg on Aiur lost the Overmind and had no queen to control them. So they were more like a myriad of feral creatures, each acting on instinct alone. We see that very well in the first scene here. If they had an strategic mind behind them, the group would just be wiped in seconds with an overwhelming mass of claws. There are enough Zerg visible in the intro to just overrun the group.
And if they're uncontrolled, they mostly like...animals, e. g. tigers or bears. Still dangerous if you encounter them (unless they just ate), but they won't lay coordinated sieges to your cities.
@@HannaHsOverInvested Can you imagine how us, who are waiting for these games for like 10 years, and then a trailer like this comes out? I've cried so many times....
The trailer is all about Protoss history and identity as a race. The gamers got hyped. Then the game was all about destroying and subverting that history and identity.
The protoss had to grow beyond their past in legacy of the void. And by doing so they become better. All existence was in danger. The races had to all unite to stop amon.
I remember that one bit during the campaign when Artanis was like "En Taro Tassadar" and Zeratul replied with "En Taro Artanis" It is basically one of the highest honour you could receive...and I was like "I sacrificed thousands of protoss to finish this game..."
@@Shiftry87 I actually finished my replay of the protoss campaign today, and like Coffee Holder said, it's both. Before the tragedy Zeratul said it to Artanis and at the end Selendis said it as well.
Answers in chronological order: - It became "culty" later (with the rejection of the dark templars and all), but wasn't at first. The Khala gave them telepathic and absolute connection between each others (they have nerve cords for that on their heads, what you could call "hair". A bit similar of what they have in Avatar for you to get the image, even if different ^^). When he says they became "one", it's literal ^^. - Also about the "talk and be friends", it could often works but here: they are united as Protoss, unlike before, but have to take back their world from Zergs... You don't talk with zergs ^^", primarily because they can't talk your language, but also because they're only fury and hunger o_o. - "This one" looks like this because he's kind of a "foot soldier", the other one is the high commander (the "hierarch") and command the whole legion. Depending of their fonction or power and/or if they have chosen to sever their nerve cords and become dark templars or not (they then have green blades instead of blue ones and have other outfits). I think they've a "caste" thing with the outfits too? Not sure though :). - No the zergs can't be "friends instead" uhuh, they live to assimilate and mutate, the swarm "digest", they don't "befriend"... or in a way that you're not yourself anymore, like Kerrigan being changed :). Also and if left alone, Zergs are "beasts", the overmind "think for" and "connect" the whole swarm. Unless if an "overmind" is "friendly", but if it ever "falls apart", they'll go straight back to aggressivity ^^".
In the fist cut-scene the templars are both Khalai; so no-one is Dark Templar (Nerazim). The difference between the two Khalai is their position within the Protoss military. The one having doubts is Artanis the current ruler of the Protoss, the second one is Kaldalis a Preator of the Zealots and commander of the first wave of attack on Aiur. In the last clip there is an other protoss: Zeratul, he is a Dark Templar.
@@alinmeleandra3175 Oh thanks for the clarifications, my memories were indeed not the best and I failed to recognize that difference or interpret the words of Kaldalis as they should be uhuh, I rushed and categorized him as a Nerazim on that base. It's rather obvious now, and yes, I know them and even more Zeratul (that we see a lot more in game ^^), it's just that I finished the games quite a long time ago uhuh. I edited my comment :). Why so many little dots? Is that contempt? ^^"
The Zerg can be friendly if they're being controlled by someone friendly. Usually, only Kerrigan has ever made them friendly, and she's had beef with just about everyone in the SC universe so...they're not often friendly. The Protoss with the fancy armor is Artanis. He is the Hierarch of their race, eseentially the leader of their people. His armor being unique is likely because of that rank. In Starcraft 2, the game's overall plot is told in 3 stories, each one similar in structure to a novel. *Spoilers-ish* The first (Wings of Liberty) is about Jim Raynor fighting against the Dominion and trying to topple Mengsk's evil regime. He discovers a bunch of weird Dominion experiments, ancient alien artifacts, and tries to rescue Kerrigan. The focus is on the humans. The second (Heart of the Swarm) is about Kerrigan being transformed back into a human and reunited with Jim, only to be seperated again by the Dominion. When she hears the false news that Jim was killed, she remakes herself into the Queen of Blades and goes on a rampage. Obviously its told from the Zerg perspective. The third (Legacy of the Void), is about Artanis leading the Protoss to retake their lost homeworld of Aiur, which is overrun with rabid swarms of Zerg. During the battle, Artanis discovers something much more evil and malevelont than the Zerg, and it's waking up. His story is focused on finding and defeating this being. The perspective of this story is the Protoss. There is an epilogue story that focuses on all three factions uniting against Amon, the evil being. Then there is a short sequel to the series following the perspective of Nova, a Dominion Ghost (a special forces operative with psychic powers) as she uncovers a plot against the newly reformed Dominion. It's a side story, but a fun one.
Ok, a couple things, especially regarding the second video: Can the Protoss be friends instead with the Zerg? Not really... the Zerg are mostly a mindless swarm, not intelligent enough to be friends instead. HOWEVER, among the Zerg there are more intelligent ones that can control the regular Zerg, and it is possible for the Protoss to be friends with some of them. It... actually happens eventually. The Zerg that are all over Aiur (the Protoss homeworld) aren't under anyone's control, so we're definitely in a situation where they can't be friends instead, they're just a mindless swarm that will eat and destroy everything. Also, the second video has a bunch of gameplay references. The way the Protoss work is that they teleport in buildings and soldiers. So the little robot thing (it's called a Probe) that made a black hole thing appear... that was teleporting in the big crystal thing (it's called a Pylon) that shows up at the end of the video. So the Probe shows up with the group of soldiers and its job is to get the Pylon to teleport in, and the black hole is what it looks like while it's teleporting in. When the Pylon shows up, they can teleport in other soldiers around it, which is what happens at the end. But they can't teleport soldiers in until the Pylon is done teleporting in, and it's vulnerable during that process. So the whole plan was that a small strike force shows up on the planet and their whole job is to protect the Pylon while it's teleporting in, then the whole army can teleport in. At one point, you see balls rolling toward the Pylon, those are called Banelings, and they're bugs filled with acid that explode on contact, spraying acid and doing massive damage to anything nearby... and one of the Protoss soldiers runs straight at them and gets all the Banelings to explode on him so that he dies instead of the Pylon getting destroyed by them. All but one of that initial strike force gets killed defending the Pylon, so as you noticed, he was all alone at the end, right before the Pylon finished teleporting in. And he stands there alone, ready to defend it against a whole swarm of bugs if necessary, when it finishes teleporting in. Also, I'm pretty sure that's what they were referring to in the first video when they talk about "the tip of the spear." The one guy volunteered to be in that first strike force and probably die defending the Pylon so the whole army could come in and take back their homeworld.
Also that one random probe is named Probius, and was later released as a playable hero character in Blizzard's other IP, Heroes of the Storm (a game which mixes together all Blizzard Entertainment universes in it's own universe called "The Nexus"). A true definition of retcon. :D
Also, the last remaining Zealot (to guys with thermal beam like weapon in both of their arms) is Kaldaris, the same one Artanis (the leader) was talking with in the 1st video that you watched
The first Starcraft II was called Wings of Liberty and was the human campaign followed by Heart of the Swarm (the Zerg) and Legacy of the Void was the Protoss one. All three together completing the story. The floating crystal in the 2nd video called Pylon in the game, allow Protoss to teleport to it, which is why the one from the first video said he was the tip of the spear, they had to survive long enough for the Pylor to appear and let reinforcement in.
Also, the random zealot that Artanis is talking to is Khel'dalis, the same one that fought to establish the beachhead on Aiur in the Legacy of the Void main cinematic.
If you're ready to binge a bit, there is compilations of all the cutscenes of each chapter in Starcraft 2. In order: Winds of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, Legacy of the Void. All contexts aren't always clear, but I'm sure you will be able to fit the pieces together. Also, Kerrigan Cosplay for the win.
to break down the main trailer: the remaining protoss have assembled all their fleets and soldiers in an attempt to retake their homeworld Aiur after it was overrun in a zerg attack many years before, however it is a trap laid by the dark god Amon, the zerg on Aiur are feral, they require an overmind to control them, the zerg species is a hivemine race made of many different creatures but none of them save for overminds have independent thought, and because there is no overmind on Aiur the remaining zerg simply act on impulse etc. the khala was another creation of the dark god Amon, it served as a similar tool to the overmind for the zerg, however unlike the zerg the protoss had evolved to have their own individual thoughts and emotions and were free to act on their own without anything guiding them, Amon created it with the intent of it being used as a way to control the protoss at large like a hivemind and exert his will over them. in the main trailer the characters shown represent certain units you can create and use in game, the guy with one eye is called a 'zealot' they are the ground infantry of the protoss and are usually the vanguard of an operation they use psionic energy to create the energy blades you see them wielding, the two you see with the robes are called 'high templar' they use psionic energy in the form of storms and lightning as their primary weapon, they are highly revered in the protoss hierarchy, the little robot you saw is called a 'probe' these are sentient beings that are the 'builders' of the protoss, they use warp technology to beam materials and structures to where they are needed, this is basically just a gameplay device shown in cinematic form for fans but it does have a purpose for the story being told in the cinematic as the pylon allowed more protoss reinforcements to get beamed down to the surface etc. it should be noted that there's a small disconnect between the lore of the game, and in game gameplay mechanics, in the cinematic the two high templar fuse together to become a being known as an 'Archon', in lore, this action is done as a last resort not all high templar have the capacity to do so and once done cannot be undone, the two high templar that perform this action will die sooner or later depending on their psionic energy stores and how powerful they are, this is because an 'Archon' uses psionic energy like a fuel and once it is gone they burn up and die, in the cinematic the 'Archon' decides that it won't be strong enough to take down the 'Ultralisk' so it sacrifices all remaining psionic energy in one big last attack and that's what was shown in the cinematic, in terms of gameplay however as long as you have the troops and resources you can make as many of these units as you like so if you end up watching gameplay videos and someone has an army of 'Archons' just remember that in terms of lore this wouldn't happen. during the fight it's shown that one of the 'Zealots' attacks three 'Banelings' (a type of zerg that is basically a giant sac of corrosive fluid), normally a 'Zealot' would never engage 'Banelings' but in this case he gave his life to protect the pylon being warped in and you see his spirit leaving his body after the third 'Baneling' explodes over him. there's a lot of other smaller details that could be explained but this is the general gist of things for the cinematic trailer.
Starcraft 2 is broken into 3-parts. Part-1: Wings of Liberty , Part-2: Heart of the swarm, Part-3: Legacy of the void. Each name is the title of that chapter of starcraft2. So its not just the name of the video, its the name of that chapter of the starcraft3 story. This video is the opening scene for Chapter-3: Legacy of the void.
To follow up on this with an oversimplified synopsis: In Wings of Liberty you play as Jim Raynor and the Terrans (humans) and fight against a dictator and try to get Kerrigan back to human. In Heart of the Swarm (the main game) you play as Kerrigan and the Zerg to fight against the same dictator and a Dark God In Legacy of the Void you play as the Protoss with Artanis as the main character to reclaim your homeworld Aiur and fight against the Dark God (I can really recommend watching the cut scenes from the games to get the full story. This will take quite some time tho, and is probably best to be done either over multiple videos or in your free time)
Yes and no. The swarm works as a hive mind. However throughout the game when you play as Morrigan I believe you give the swarm their independence back because you discover that the Zerg had been corrupted into being the slaves of an evil ancient god.
@@HannaHsOverInvested Yes and no. It comes with the caviat that either you can overpower their will, or their Queen / Overmind is friendly towards you. But even then, it's like being friends with a doll. Even the more cerebral Zerg such as Abathur, or Zagara still bow down to stronger minds. Albeit on their case it's slightly more willingly than with the lower Zerg. By the way, there's an interesting easter egg in the Google search engine, if you search for "Zerg rush". Your search result page will literally get overwhelmed by a swarm of Zerg.
@@Caldera01 Slight clarification - you have to go to the main Google homepage, type in "Zerg Rush", and click the "I'm feeling lucky" button to get the easter egg
Thank you for increasing the sound on your video! For me, your voice is perfect, it's the video you're listening to that is quiet :). Additional note, it's awesome watching you figure things out as you're going.
I love that you do these. I have watched all of these cinematics over the years and it's awesome to see someone's reaction that is brand new. Love the vids!
"Are the zerg capable of being friends?" that depends on the overmind that controls the swarm and Kerrigan after everything isnt really down for friends anymore
She likes friends, she just didn’t trust anyone that wasn’t Jim. If you played Heart of the Swarm you could tell that she developed a motherly fondness for her Zerg and was doing everything she could to teach the more intelligent Zerg how to be more...human, so to speak, in the eventuality of her demise. She also slowly started to learn how to trust others again.
A big thing to remember when watching this and wondering "why the exposition dump" is that between the first Starcraft game and the release of the next was over 12 years. Even for a Blizz die hard like me, it was good to get the "recap".
I've watched both your sc videos. It's pretty amazing how much you were able to understand about the story of this whole game from just these few videos. The story unveils bit by bit while you play the game and these videos are mostly for getting players excited. They have little story content so you learn the rest from the game after buying it. Still, great reactions! :)
The bugs, called zerg, are not at all capable of being friends. They're a hivemind that used to be controlled by something called the Overmind that only cared about absorbing every living thing into the zerg swarm. Now that they have Kerrigan... I dunno. But the individual ones are too dumb.
@@HannaHsOverInvested The xel naga created the protoss and the zerg. Protoss being purity of form and the zerg purity of essence. The hivemind drives the zerg to expand and asimilate every lifeform to extract their essence to evolve. So no, no way to negociate.
@@HannaHsOverInvested I'd argue they are a fair bit like the Borg from Star Trek. If you are not an obvious threat, or in possession of some juicy tech (in the Zerg case juicy genes/DNA) then they do not really care. Unless forced by their Queen/Overmind they are like most other animals, just maybe with a lower threshold until they turn aggressive and defensive. There is a faction within the game called the "Primal Zerg" which are the original Zerg, untainted by The Evil One and they managed to avoid the mindcontrol of the Overmind. It is as they were in their beginning. Very primal, either you eat someone else as food or you become someone else's food. They also Evolve very quickly, which is basically how you build buildings within the game. You have larvae that evolve into drones which can evolve into actual buildings! So they eat to survive, but they also eat to absorb the new genes ("Essence") to become stronger and hopefully not get killed themselves. An InGame cutscene of when Kerrigan first hears of the Primal Zerg: ua-cam.com/video/eSLmWhgMm4E/v-deo.html EDIT: Changed link to a longer and better quality InGame of the Pirmals.
I use headphones and the audio is perfect, on par with 99.9% of the other videos on youtube, well done! Also, this was the one video I really wanted to see you react to in the Starcraft series :D
Random-ass question here (I like random questions) but does it annoy you when people say "you SHOULD react to XYZ" instead of "would you react to XYZ" Am I over thinking this? Perhaps.
No. It does annoy me. Can you, please watch, have you though of, it would be great if... all totally fine. Watch this, you have to, you must, do this,... I dont love it.
@@HannaHsOverInvested yea I think we just wanna show you things we find enjoyable that you might not know exist. but there no way of saying it that does not sounds rude.
@@whitedragon1204 I think there absolutely are ways to say it. "I think you would enjoy this trailer" or "I would love to see you react to this trailer", are both respectful and get the point across. It's very simple... don't phrase it like an order. I see that on so many channels, and frankly, I see it as dehumanizing.
It's all about para social relationships. The audience feels there's much more rappor than there actually is and treat you as they would a very close and personal friend.
It's very nice and admirable that you want everyone to be friends. Just keep in mind, conflict is a very effective story tool. Very few stories that are worth telling are free of conflict. But then again, conflict can take many forms, it doesn't always have to be physical.
The more stylized comic looking ones are for exposition dumps for people who largely already care about the game while the cinematic CGI looking are designed to get people hype and buy into the game.
some cool things to note for the 2nd vid that you might have missed or didn't know. 1: at 11:06 he talks about being bound by the khala, which is like a newer version of the borg from star trek. one shared collective stream of thoughts so they can all see each others thoughts, and it's evident right away at 11: 18 as it shows the connection through their braids transfers all the way to the last guy who has his back to a zerg but knows he's about to strike him because the other guy saw it. 2: the little robot probe made that giant sphere, which in the actual game is the construction phase of a building. when you create a building in the game it has a period where it's crafting but it's very vulnerable to attack, which is why you see the zealots (wrist sword guys) charge the exploding acid banelings and why they're all sacrificing themselves to buy time for it to finish, which u see at the end at 13:16 where it forms into a pylon, which the Protoss use to teleport troops from place to place which allowed for reinforcements. that little probe ended up getting a name, Probius, and was introduced as a character in Blizzard's other game Heroes of the Storm. famous little guy
In the 2nd cinematic, what the small robot(forgot its name) was summoning is called a Pylon in game. Basicly, the Protoss use these Pylons to summon/teleport units and buildings(in the game), hence, when the Pylon materialised, the Protoss army could teleport to it. Kind of works like beaming stuff in Star Trek
Hey Hannah! There's A LOT more! So there exist a few videos that showcase all the cutscenes and in-game cutscenes, and even some plot relevant gameplay to connect it! I recommend, if you are interested, to check out the Legacy of The Void Cutscenes that include the in-game cutscenes as well! I hope you really enjoy this as much as we do! Doing AWESOME work, and thank you so much for keep on making content! Also, in terms of Kerrigan, she is for a time a half-human, half-zerg, which you actually see more of in her Heart of The Swarm cutscenes and cinematic! Hope this helps!
While the in-game cutscenes are good at explaining the story its almost impossable for some1 that hasent played it to fully understand it and how it all connects becouse there is so mutch key information that are only found inside the missions and in all the optional dialogue options u can listen to betwinn missions. All we can do is to try and explain it as good as possable and yet it for the most part only covers the most basic information. I just posted what felt like a full page and still barely covered the most basic information.
I really like the writing tidbits that you drop every now and then, like what you mentioned about exposition/lore-dumping in this video, or that story idea you had during the ghosts of tsushima vid. It makes you stand out from other react videos imo
is very interesting how Protoss work their minds, the Khala isnt a cult but the treat it as a religion but in reality its is like that stuff from Avatar where all people are connected by their spirit/mind/emotions/etc, the way to ensure this is by leaveing your "hair" to grow but if cut it in the mature state of your life, you cut all connections to the Khala, your people. The Khala is like a hive mind but whitout a controling master. Dark Templars their "connections" with the Khala cuz they are "ortodox" and they view this as a way to creat a "dictatorship" by the High Templars. Also Starcraft is way older than Avatar.
@@HannaHsOverInvested Also PLEASE NOTE: the Warhammer franchise is based on 3 separate tabletop games (that may or may not be connected depending on which fans you ask). There's Warhammer 40,000 that is the sci-fi game set 39 thousand years into the future in our world. Then there's Warhammer: The Game of Fantasy Battles (WHFB) that was the original game and what Total War is based on. That game universe takes place on a single planet, mostly focused on The Old World (a pseudo-Europe with magic where the Empire of Sigmar is located), Ulthuan (an Atlantis-like continent that's home of the Elves), and Lustria (a land of steaming jungles located across the ocean and home to the Lizardmen). WHFB was discontinued in 2015 and was relaunched as Age of Sigmar, which takes place after an apocalypse destroys the planet of WHFB and things are reincarnated into infinitely large planes of existence. So Total War: Warhammer 3 has got people hyped because it's introducing 2 new factions that were only hinted at in the original WHFB game, Kislev and Cathay. Kislev had a few miniatures in the original tabletop game with some background in the pen-and-paper RPG and is located north of the Empire of Sigmar. Cathay is based on China and is only hinted at in the original lore. TW:WH3 will be the first time we see official characters and designs on this faction. Furthermore, WHFB is being relaunched as a specialist game for tabletop. The new Total War is likely going to give us a lot of hints at what's going to get official miniatures and models. tl;dr--Total War: Warhammer 3 is different than Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40,000. It's likely going to show us not only new factions, but what's in store for the relaunch of the original board game.
@@HannaHsOverInvested total war warhammer has a bunch of trailers that are about 3 minutes long, I'd suggest watching the trailers from Total war Warhammer 1 and 2 first, I like all the trailers they did they have only gotten better as they made new ones.
The reason some are pre-rendered CG films and some are more animatic motion graphics is mostly time constraints and cost. In 3D everything has to be built, textured, rigged, placed ,animated, and lit from scratch. It's cheaper and faster to do a motion graphic version. So when you're pressed for time and the budget is being allocated to other things you shell out for the cheaper option. It's what we had to do on the DLC for Just Cause 4, it's more common than not.
Starcraft, especially 2, is ultimately a story about finding unlikely allies. There are members of each faction that chose to face the bigger threats together instead of being blinded by old grudges. Kerrigan, Artanis, Raynor, and Zeratul being the dream team. The bigger threats being 1.Tthe Zerg Overmind which had no motive other than to consume all the biomass in the galaxy (insert metaphor for consumerism). 2. Amon, the fallen Xel'Naga (space god) who viewed all life as corrupt and believed the only way to fix the universe was to end all life and remake it in his image (insert metaphor for puritanical systems). So the story in the single player campaigns, while dark at times, has you making a lot of friends and beating the odds to stop oppressive systems. 10/10 mouth feel imo
You forget the Overmind was enslaved by the powers that created it, and it tried to rebel and forge a different path for the Zerg through the First Queen of Blades
The fully CG videos were produced outside of Blizzard by Blur Studios. They've done digital artwork on Marvel films (Thor: The Dark World's opening battle with the Dark Elves and Asgard), League of Legends videos, and the call of Call of Duty franchise. The cartoon-style animatic was done in-house by Blizzard.
I was DYING for this video. I love the story of Starcraft. Along with Warcraft and Diablo, Blizzard has amazing IP's rich with lore. In regards to the story, I can't believe I forgot about the entire main plot ending thing with Kerrigan. Yeah there's more videos out that show more lore/story/animatedShort/cinematics. I think your discord picked a great playlist but they left out the part where Kerrigan... yeah, major plot stuff. I cried watching your reaction because it was so genuine! Thanks for this!
12:00 The Zerg (insect-like hungry aliens) don't 'think' individually, they are a species with a hive mind, controlled by a Queen (Kerrigan, the purple chick with bone wings and voiced by Charlotte). What would dictate peace between Zerg and Protoss (blue bois with golden armor and laser blades) is if the Queen accepts and doesn't command them to strike. "Oh but what if there's no queen or overmind to control the hivemind?" Then the zerg go feral, just like dingos or any other wild, hungry animal. 13:40 "THAT WAS SO COOOOOL" FUCK ME I KNOW RIGHT? IT'S BEEN YEARS AND I STILL GOT CHILLS TO THIS DAY, GOD DAMN THIS CINEMATIC IS SO FUCKING AWESOME
Help Hannah buy a camera! Order a copy of Magic Required and Dominion Required! (or just do it because they're good books and you want to be friends instead!). Buy the books, it's for the greater good! :D
Are there translated Versions of the Books? While my english is somewhat decent, i'm not sure it's good enough ton understand every nuance in a english novel.
There are three separated campains in the game and in each one player plays as one of fractions. Wings of liberty is as terrans(humas), Hearth of sworm is as zergs(Bugs) and legacy of the void is as protos(golden guys).
If you liked this one, there's this account called: " Carbot Animations " I think you'd like it, there's plenty of animations of this game where everyone sometimes are friends and wholesome uwu
I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but in the story there is a 4th non-playable race and in a sense they are the cause of everything, the Overmind (the OG leader of the Zerg) learnt about the Protoss from them and that is why it moved the swarm to Aiur and as it happened the human territories were between their region and protoss space :D
"are his motivations wrong" No but also yes also it's hard to commuicate with the zerg when they are being controlled and don't really get a choice :'( they are capable of it though and do like to keep to em selves most of the time unless they can get stronger by eating you
Like others have been saying, an individual Zerg (bug) has an animal level intellect. The Hive is controlled by an Overmind, or later the Queen of Blades (Kerrigan) who acts as a general directing the swarm.
So for the Zerg, the easiest comparison are basically the Xenomorphs from the ALIENS movie series. Highly intelligent, but also they're entire purpose is just hunger, to consume worlds. So, they cant really reason with them haha
Google used to have a Zerg easter egg in its search engine. It used to be that when you searched for "Zerg rush" on google, a bunch of 'O' 'Zerglings' would 'rush' and destroy your search page unless you kill the Zergs before they can do that. If you couldn't, the 'Zerglings' would form the letters "GG" on your screen as a sign of your defeat. "GG" stands for Good Game and is typically what the losing player would type out as a sign to being defeated, much like laying down your king is in Chess. You can still access this easter egg if you search for "Zerg rush" and hit "I'm feeling lucky" instead of the normal search button. If you do a normal search today, you'd just get a standard search result page.
There's a crapton of cinematics & cutscenes in the SC2 trilogy, so in case you wanna delve deeper into the story, here's a good compilation I found: ua-cam.com/video/bZ18Ms5FOCE/v-deo.html Not a playlist but there's timestamps in the desc to use as bookmarks & skip over stuff you might have already watched
10:35 I think part of it is just natural variations in their species, and part of it may just be their uniforms: one is a soldier, the other is more like a Commander-in-Chief. Some of the Protoss on the field look different from Khaldaris because they're what's called 'High Templar' (basically wizards). As you can see, they can Voltron into one Big Dude called an Archon. To answer your question: the bugs are basically animals led by an intelligent hivemind, but the last one tried to assimilate everybody so everybody allied to kill it, and Kerrigan has been trying to become their new 'queen' ever since. Kerrigan is like a half-human, half-bug and she's certainly capable of being friends. But these bugs in this video were not under anyone's control afaik. I think you've watched all the actual trailers and promotional materials. The rest is in the games themselves, both in cutscenes and levels themselves. There are compilations of the story, but they're very long compared to the trailers. There are also (of course) videos fans made to explain the lore. So it's up to you. There are three parts of Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty (Focused on the human perspective), Heart of the Swarm (focused on the zerg/bug perspective and Kerrigan) and this one, Legacy of the Void (focused on the Protoss). Also, Human!Kerrigan or Reclaimed!Kerrigan is definitely a cosplay you can pull off.
12:35 - Thats what she said. Btw I watched your video about Heart of the Swarm and as you can remember in the official trailer, kerrigan says "Im the swarm" she says it bcs she got a full control over the swarm, she is the queen and there are her mindless minions, though at some point there was a being called the Overmind that controlled the zerg before karrigan, so when the zerg finally found out where the home world of the protoss was, they hit it with everything they got, the remaining survivors gathered at a Nerazim(Dark templar) world of Shakuras, the ones that were once branded heretics are the same ones that share with them a home now, of course in Legacy of the void trailer you only see how they tried to retake their own homeworld, without success though, many died, but they managed to get one of their Super carries which was made for emergency situations in case their civilization was threatened by an invading force - The spear of Adun. There is so much of the lore that is buried between the missions, Star Craft lore is hella interesting and its cutscenes are really epic, some ppl who are not into RTS games might find the gameplay boring, but so far i have never seen even one person who dislikes the lore.
It's been a few years, but to clarify your question at 10:18 - The second one is a high-budget reveal trailer and opening cinematic for the game. The first one you saw is a lower-budget piece made a bit later purely for recap, so it's not trying to be impressive and wow people with spectacle in favor of almost purely being functional (hence the weird writing). 11:50 On a technical level, they possess that level of intellect, as one faction of them formed alliances during Brood War. However, individuals are little more than beasts or bugs driven by instinct and the orders of more intelligent members, and the species as a whole isn't interested in making friends. They would much rather absorb you into their swarm, dissect/analyze your genome, and assimilate whatever genes or materials you have that they find useful into other strains or make mutated copies of you if your overall body fits their needs in some way. Every Zerg strain other than the Larva originates from some other species that they encountered, assimilated, and began reproducing in their own image. The ones seen in this trailer don't even have a guiding intelligence as far as the Protoss know, since they were left feral after the death of their previous leader and abandonment by any other Zerg figure that could control them, so negotiation is completely off the table. It's like fighting an infestation of really aggressive hornets that have taken up residence in your old house that you're moving back into, you can't negotiate with them so the only thing to do is exterminate them.
So the major things to know is that the protoss look different in uniform when they have different jobs, by and large. the little round robot guy that made that black hole thing that eventually became the crystal before everyone teleported in, was a probe and they are able to create a portal that brings in structures, but they require that crystal thing first, called a pylon, to create a psi-field so they can call in other larger structures. The psi-field also allows the protoss to warp in units as well, which is what we saw at the end. The zerg are a hive mind race that is controlled by a hierarchy of psychic creatures, at the top of the hierarchy is Kerrigan. They exist to feed, and evolve. They basically run on instinct and the will of the hivemind which at this point is lead by Kerrigan, but was previously controlled by the Overmind, whose corpse is on the world the protoss are retaking. When Kerrigan was taken by the zerg she was already a powerful psyhic and then they made her into a zerg leader with the will to control the whole swarm and molded her motivations to be in line with the zerg as a whole. It is hard to say whether you could be friends with the zerg as Kerrigan's motivations arent really human anymore though she still feels a connection with Raynor and a few of the things from her life as a human, but those are very secondary to her current role.
This video (2 hours long) will tell you everything you would like to know about the Star Craft Universe. It gives an insight into all factions through the use of cinematics and in game dialogue. ua-cam.com/video/bZ18Ms5FOCE/v-deo.html It's essentially "Star Craft 2- the movie"
For context; the Zerg are a life corrupting and consuming swarm. The only times they could communicate with the Zerg Swarm was when karrigan was in charge. Even then she didn't really talk. But instead took up the moniker the queen of blades.
There are videos that compile all cinematics and pertinent in-game dialogues/events etc. They do go for at least an hour, but they really are like a fantastic movie! I for one would definitely enjoy seeing you react to them, probably split into parts, but enjoy just like a movie!

Starcraft II was released in three parts, each focusing on a different species: Wings of Liberty (Humans/"Terrans"), Heart of the Swarm (Zerg), Legacy of the Void (Protoss). Protoss have Psionic powers, some of which are tied to the dreadlock-like nerve cords. They left their tribal stage (which was full of endless war) when a mystic found a way to create a psychic network, which is accessed through the nerve cords, the Khala. Some Protoss refused to join and cut their cords off, which led to a schism and civil war until the "Dark Templar" left. Zeratul (loincloth, green blade) is one of them. (As in tribal affiliation, not even he is old enough to have been around for the schism.) The events of Starcraft I and the first two parts of SCII led to the Protoss species making the first steps towards reunification. There's a third tribe, the Taldarim. Bad guys, working for the enemy (see below), very gothy look, extreme social darwinists, their head honcho is voiced by Q from Star Trek. In the Protoss vs Zerg battle, the idea was to buy the drone (small robot) enough time to build a pylon (big crystal), which allows the Protoss to teleport large amounts of troops at once. (Protoss tech is very magic-looking, very soft sci-fi.) Extremely short version of the SCII meta plot: Xel'Naga = Valar, Amon = Morgoth, the Koprulu sector = First Age Middle Earth
@@HannaHsOverInvested You should watch his cutscenes in the game.. there aren't that many but he stands out on most of them, his voice is so full of Charisma.
With regard to the Protoss "cool outfits". The two having a heart-to-heart are Kaldalis (one-eyed dude) and Artanis. Artanis has grander looking armour since he's the Heirarch. He leads the coalition of Aiur protoss and Dark Templar. Kaldalis is a Zealot. He's a foot soldier, so he has smaller shoulder pads. Same as the reinforcements that teleport down at the end. The caped dudes who fuse into an Archon are called High Templar. All Protoss possess some level of psionic ability, but High Templar have trained to put their powers to greater practical use. Hence, why they levitate and can turn into Archons at all. Just discovered your channel btw, and I'm loving your Non-Gamer series. Please don't ever stop.
A little backstory - the Zerg (the bugs) are beasts acting on instinct aside from a few higher up, they obey/are given purpose by an overwriting will. In the second game (that you're watching the trailers of) this is by Kerrigan (the human/zerg hybrid lady). The Zerg are mainly an army that obey her. Originally they were created by an ancient now extinct race called the Xel'Naga that wanted to create the purity of essence, they collect essence (the DNA basically) of other lifeforms to add to their own potential. Think of the Borg from Star Trek but purely biological - assimilate, improve. Abathur - a zerg tasked with the role of thinking how to get the most of all they have assimilated 'designs' the different strains of Zerg and is one of the few zerg capable of what seems like independent thought and converses / advises Kerrigan. There's also Izsha who kinda pops out of the Zerg flagship as a part of the ship itself (Zerg spaceships are organisms themselves). She serves as a data terminal keeping Kerrigan up to date on the latest and seems to be able to think for herself to some degree and then there is the most interesting one - Zagara. She serves as Kerrigans second in command and should Kerrigan fall Zagara will take over the swarm - she's fully capable of independent thought and throughout the game Abathur (by Kerrigans command) makes her powerful/smart enough to the point where she serves Kerrigan by choice hoping to learn more from her rather than being obligated to. Extra trivia: The Xel'Naga who made the Zerg (as the purity of essence) also created the Protoss (the guys trying to take their homeworld Aiur) as the purity of form. The Xel'Naga were super powerful godlike aliens who live for millions (billions) of years and seem to be incapable of reproducing and instead created the Protoss/Zerg with the intend that eventually the two after going through many years of evolution would merge to become the next gen Xel'Naga themselves (which is cycle of life that's been going on for a while already). But no, the Zerg cannot straight up assimilate the protoss - it's basically the one race that they cannot absorb. (Probably some build in safeguard to prevent the merge from happening too soon) This is the simplified version, there's many more branches and intricacies to the story.
the simplest way i can describe the zerg is a owner with a lot (almost infinite) guard dogs, you can't really negotiate with something that's only been bred to attack and defend. You can negotiate with the owner but good luck finding them, they usually prefer to stay hidden and if you manage to find a owner you'll get bit on the way.
Starcraft 2 has 3 "Chapters". Chap 1 Wings of Liberty is the stuff you already watched. Focused very heavily on Raynor and what his relationship with Kerrigan and Mengsk means. Chap 2 Heart of the Swarm (you skipped this one :P) focuses almost entirely on Kerrigan after Raynor was pronounced dead by Mengsk. Chapter 3 Legacy of the Void focuses on the Protoss and retaking their homeworld and a prophecy that involves Kerrigan and her zerg. There is a video out ther, it is quite long, but it is every cinematic and ingame cutscene from all 3 chapters in order. Its a lot of info but it would give you a pretty complete story of the entire trilogy.
@@HannaHsOverInvested Welcome, Its one of my favorite franchises and the story it tells was great. Not sure if we will ever get a SC3 but we can always hope.
I'm glad to see the protoss story arc summarized in the first video. Their backstory is more implied throughout the games - autonomy versus collectivism, choice versus duty, dark templar vs light templar
Totally been waiting for you to post this video! I picked up Magic Required and am looking forward to reading it. I absolutely recommend watching through the SC2 cinematics. There should be compilations out there where it's each cinematic in order in between the gameplay for you to get a much better idea of the story. I'm actually going to do that right now because you've got me hyped about this story again watching your enthusiasm.
I'm sure someone else has already explained this better, but: the Zerg are a hive mind species. They all are connected to their Queen, and the Queens are controlled by Kerrigan, the Queen of Blades. There's a lot more nuance to it than that, but that's the super simple version of it, without bringing up Overminds and Hives.
The reason of the different animations is cost. But to answer your question there are feral zerg, which is like a pack of wild dogs, they're going to eat you. A bunch of domesticated dogs (or a zerg with a queen to unify them) it'd depend on how you interact.
8:12 Peace-talking with the Zerg is strongly akin to going outside your farm, watching acres of your fields devoured by enormous verminous locusts, and trying to talk them out into leaving your fields. So sure, they can try to talk it out. See if you can make a race that has been manually uplifted into an omniscient collective have a peace treaty with a savage race that does its communicating by devouring everything that's not them, and grows as they eat.
Kudos to peace loving lady. Earned my subscription. Also, the enemies they are about to fight are feral and leaderless. It's like wanting to negotiate with dementors or murder hornets
Zerg are a hive mind with only the command class creatures capable of communication. Also it’s hard to negotiate with a species which sees you as it’s next meal. The reason for the different outfits is due to their different places is society, soldier, general, priest etc.
Zerg only have one objective: consume everything in their path there's no reasoning, no compromise and no mercy it's literally either u die or they do, and their number is endless
Your volume is great. Your audio was good and the video was perfect. I could understand everything. I'm super impressed with the quality of your videos from your phone. Thanks for your reactions
If they are truly your friends, then they will tell you the harsh truth. And if they are truly your friends, even if you get angry with them for telling the truth, your friendship will not end.
Pretty much the zerg (giant bug creatures) are being told what to do and always must obey the masters will. Protoss are all connected thought there thoughts and emotions as Artanis said (the leader of the protoss) The only way for them to be friends is if Artanis (Protoss leader) and Kerrigan (zerg swarm leader) if there is something between them that they both can accept to fight against, as also said Amon the god that wants to rid of this cycle.
The Zerg (the bug aliens) took over Aiur at some point and the Protoss (the gold dudes) want to get it back because it's their homeworld. They probably would just talk to them and preacefully get their world back, but the Zerg are a hive mind, and the ones on Aiur aren't controlled by anyone, so they can't really communicate with the Protoss. They actually are friends with some of the Zerg, but the ones on this planet aren't controlled by their allies.
I'm glad you watched the third legacy of the void video! :) I Told you it was epic! :) In the zerg protos fight video when you watched the two protoss guys (High Templar units) merge in two one (Archon unit), that you can do in the real game with the two units! So it was sooooo coool that they showed the fans, what would that be like, in a cinematic! And what the arcon says after becoming one from two, POWER OVERWHELMING was, and is one of the in game cheat codes today, for starcraft and starcraft II for god mode that makes all of the player units invulnerable to any damage! :)
Think of the Zerg as the zombies in the living dead. Kerrigan is the one in control and a lot of what she is doing she has no choice, like Sylvanas, there is a much deeper and and fainter story arc going on in the background of the whole Star Craft universe. Star Craft (the original) has the story about what started all of this and in that game, at the start it was the Protos who were destroying worlds without thought or question because they MIGHT have some Zerg on them, even fully populated worlds. Sarah Kerrigan started off as a Ghost operative and she was the elite of the elite, and not just yes but HELL YES you could definitely cosplay that one perfectly.
I think that if she really is in it for the story, it'd be cool to find a playlist with all the story beats from even the first game (even if they're not totally "modern"). I really enjoy the way Blizzard tells their stories, using the different perspectives of the races and characters. It really is different seeing it as it unfolds rather than having it all been dumped in a short video that seems super convoluted hahaha. I tried to make a friend play both StarCraft 1 and Warcraft 3 just for the story hahaha. If I find a video (or series of videos) like that I'll be sure to post here!
Found one, though it is long because it has all of the first game's story beats (even end mission banter) in it. You just have to use your imagination because there's more conversation than fancy movies hahaha ua-cam.com/video/t8y480pMb5I/v-deo.html
So I haven’t done a deep dive into Starcraft lore in like 10 years, but here’s a bit more context for the Zerg: they are creatures of rapid growth and mutation, and their whole thing is finding creatures that have some kind of mutations that would benefit themselves. Some Zerg are even able to mutate as needed, consuming a creature and integrating the genetic information while promoting rapid growth and assimilation. This is How Kerrigan was transformed. There are intelligent Zerg, those that control the swarm, though few of them actively engage in combat. The bugs you see fighting in the trailers, with a few exceptions, are hive minded and controlled by the sapient Zerg. The over mind was the original controlling intelligence, but was destroyed during the events of the first game. Kerrigan already had extremely powerful psionic powers before she was captured and transformed. The Zerg took her to elevate her into a controlling position. The Zerg mind set, combined with her own need for vengeance at being abandoned, decided to take full control of the swarms. You actually get to play her as you fight other Zerg swarms and reach their leaders, who either side with you as a step in their evolution, or are otherwise killed, and their swarm taken from them anyway. If the Zerg have a morality, it is still driven to reach perfection via evolution and assimilation. If you can defeat them, then you should, if they can defeat and or assimilate you, then that is the just thing, the moral thing. But they can be convinced to face a greater threat if it endangers them to ignore it, and ally rather than attempt to assimilate with the Terran and Protos factions. These are just my thoughts on what I remember, so I’ll leave a few grains of salt for you.
Loved the vid 😊 I was thinking about what you said about the heavy deposition in a story. I agree but also disagree with you because even though people might be familiar with a story, these give you an glimpse into a character/character’s thoughts and feelings. They give you an understanding on why the character made a decision. It’s one thing to be told a story, but another to understand the feelings and thoughts behind the characters within the story. That’s why I like these vids where characters talk and contemplate the decisions ahead of them, even tho the viewers (us) know what’s going on. I agree with what you said from a written perspective but the story telling in a movie format I think works. Zerg - are like insects. Think of bees or hornets, they have hives but on the planetary level. Anyway, just wanted to give you my two cents. Keep up the great vidz! 👍🏾😉😊

Individual zerg is like a bee in a bee hive, so they dont really know what friend even means. Its the queen who controls them. Also the Zerg is basically a biological weapon created by the dark one, Amon.
Except for Broken Horn
They weren't created by Amon, only modified. They were originally the independent Primal Zerg.

Answers in chronological order:
- It became "culty" later (with the rejection of the dark templars and all), but wasn't at first.

*Spoilers-ish*
The first (Wings of Liberty) is about Jim Raynor fighting against the Dominion and trying to topple Mengsk's evil regime.
Ok, a couple things, especially regarding the second video:
Can the Protoss be friends instead with the Zerg?

What is the beachhead?

If you're ready to binge a bit, there is compilations of all the cutscenes of each chapter in Starcraft 2. In order: Winds of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, Legacy of the Void.
All contexts aren't always clear, but I'm sure you will be able to fit the pieces together.
Also, Kerrigan Cosplay for the win.
defiantly would give you more of the story to watch the cutscenes in order, especially if you aren't intending to play the game itself
*Wings of Liberty
to break down the main trailer:
the remaining protoss have assembled all their fleets and soldiers in an attempt to retake their homeworld Aiur after it was overrun in a zerg attack many years before, however it is a trap laid by the dark god Amon, the zerg on Aiur are feral, they require an overmind to control them, the zerg species is a hivemine race made of many different creatures but none of them save for overminds have independent thought, and because there is no overmind on Aiur the remaining zerg simply act on impulse etc.
the khala was another creation of the dark god Amon, it served as a similar tool to the overmind for the zerg, however unlike the zerg the protoss had evolved to have their own individual thoughts and emotions and were free to act on their own without anything guiding them, Amon created it with the intent of it being used as a way to control the protoss at large like a hivemind and exert his will over them.
in the main trailer the characters shown represent certain units you can create and use in game, the guy with one eye is called a 'zealot' they are the ground infantry of the protoss and are usually the vanguard of an operation they use psionic energy to create the energy blades you see them wielding, the two you see with the robes are called 'high templar' they use psionic energy in the form of storms and lightning as their primary weapon, they are highly revered in the protoss hierarchy, the little robot you saw is called a 'probe' these are sentient beings that are the 'builders' of the protoss, they use warp technology to beam materials and structures to where they are needed, this is basically just a gameplay device shown in cinematic form for fans but it does have a purpose for the story being told in the cinematic as the pylon allowed more protoss reinforcements to get beamed down to the surface etc.
it should be noted that there's a small disconnect between the lore of the game, and in game gameplay mechanics, in the cinematic the two high templar fuse together to become a being known as an 'Archon', in lore, this action is done as a last resort not all high templar have the capacity to do so and once done cannot be undone, the two high templar that perform this action will die sooner or later depending on their psionic energy stores and how powerful they are, this is because an 'Archon' uses psionic energy like a fuel and once it is gone they burn up and die, in the cinematic the 'Archon' decides that it won't be strong enough to take down the 'Ultralisk' so it sacrifices all remaining psionic energy in one big last attack and that's what was shown in the cinematic, in terms of gameplay however as long as you have the troops and resources you can make as many of these units as you like so if you end up watching gameplay videos and someone has an army of 'Archons' just remember that in terms of lore this wouldn't happen.
during the fight it's shown that one of the 'Zealots' attacks three 'Banelings' (a type of zerg that is basically a giant sac of corrosive fluid), normally a 'Zealot' would never engage 'Banelings' but in this case he gave his life to protect the pylon being warped in and you see his spirit leaving his body after the third 'Baneling' explodes over him.
there's a lot of other smaller details that could be explained but this is the general gist of things for the cinematic trailer.
Hannah: Is he alone there?
Zeratul: BUT NONE OF US ARE EVER, TRULY ALONE!
To follow up on this with an oversimplified synopsis:
In Wings of Liberty you play as Jim Raynor and the Terrans (humans) and fight against a dictator and try to get Kerrigan back to human.
In Heart of the Swarm (the main game) you play as Kerrigan and the Zerg to fight against the same dictator and a Dark God
In Legacy of the Void you play as the Protoss with Artanis as the main character to reclaim your homeworld Aiur and fight against the Dark God
(I can really recommend watching the cut scenes from the games to get the full story. This will take quite some time tho, and is probably best to be done either over multiple videos or in your free time)
You basically play as Raynor's Raiders in WOL.
You forgot the part4 nova covert ops
Purpose to why the cinematics look so different:
The second one is VERY expensive to make.
Yes and no. The swarm works as a hive mind. However throughout the game when you play as Morrigan I believe you give the swarm their independence back because you discover that the Zerg had been corrupted into being the slaves of an evil ancient god.
omg so they can be friends instead???

@@HannaHsOverInvested Yes and no.
It comes with the caviat that either you can overpower their will, or their Queen / Overmind is friendly towards you.
But even then, it's like being friends with a doll. Even the more cerebral Zerg such as Abathur, or Zagara still bow down to stronger minds. Albeit on their case it's slightly more willingly than with the lower Zerg.
By the way, there's an interesting easter egg in the Google search engine, if you search for "Zerg rush". Your search result page will literally get overwhelmed by a swarm of Zerg.

"Yo, that would get hella awkwaaaaard!" Sad but true! XD
6:30 good to hear I'm not the only one with this issue lol! The world is dead to me when I stream haha
🤣🤣🤣
A big thing to remember when watching this and wondering "why the exposition dump" is that between the first Starcraft game and the release of the next was over 12 years. Even for a Blizz die hard like me, it was good to get the "recap".
I've watched both your sc videos. It's pretty amazing how much you were able to understand about the story of this whole game from just these few videos. The story unveils bit by bit while you play the game and these videos are mostly for getting players excited. They have little story content so you learn the rest from the game after buying it. Still, great reactions! :)
Thank you so much!!
The bugs, called zerg, are not at all capable of being friends. They're a hivemind that used to be controlled by something called the Overmind that only cared about absorbing every living thing into the zerg swarm. Now that they have Kerrigan... I dunno. But the individual ones are too dumb.
I would then wonder if they are an invasive species or if their leader is the reason for the eating and fighting people stuff...
@@HannaHsOverInvested The xel naga created the protoss and the zerg. Protoss being purity of form and the zerg purity of essence. The hivemind drives the zerg to expand and asimilate every lifeform to extract their essence to evolve. So no, no way to negociate.
@@HannaHsOverInvested there are but only the pimal zerg have that which is explain in kerigans starcraft 2 expansion

OKay! Thanks!!
some cool things to note for the 2nd vid that you might have missed or didn't know.
You're gonna love this, everything in the zerg race is alive from the bainlings (greens rolling guys) to leviathans (them big flying boys)
Even the ground underthem is generally a living being they spread
@@emastre16 yah the creep
In the 2nd cinematic, what the small robot(forgot its name) was summoning is called a Pylon in game. Basicly, the Protoss use these Pylons to summon/teleport units and buildings(in the game), hence, when the Pylon materialised, the Protoss army could teleport to it.
Kind of works like beaming stuff in Star Trek
Hey Hannah! There's A LOT more! So there exist a few videos that showcase all the cutscenes and in-game cutscenes, and even some plot relevant gameplay to connect it!

Thank you so much!! That is so kind of you to take the time to say.
The amount of times "we need to be friends" is said is ludicrous lol
is very interesting how Protoss work their minds, the Khala isnt a cult but the treat it as a religion but in reality its is like that stuff from Avatar where all people are connected by their spirit/mind/emotions/etc, the way to ensure this is by leaveing your "hair" to grow but if cut it in the mature state of your life, you cut all connections to the Khala, your people. The Khala is like a hive mind but whitout a controling master. Dark Templars their "connections" with the Khala cuz they are "ortodox" and they view this as a way to creat a "dictatorship" by the High Templars. Also Starcraft is way older than Avatar.
You gotta check out the new Total War Warhammer 3 trailer, it’s absolutely amazing
I have it saved! I think I am going to poll for next Sunday. I'll put this on it!
Ohhhhhkay! got it. Thank you!
@@HannaHsOverInvested Happy to help.
The Zerg are basically the Borg or The Magog from Andromeda or the Replicators from Stargate. You can't "talk" to them.
Got it. Thanks. I kind of suspected that at one point but I guess I hope you can talk to everyone haha.
The Magog! Jeez, that's some niche sci-fi referencing right there!

"are his motivations wrong"
No but also yes
also it's hard to commuicate with the zerg when they are being controlled and don't really get a choice :'( they are capable of it though and do like to keep to em selves most of the time unless they can get stronger by eating you
Like others have been saying, an individual Zerg (bug) has an animal level intellect.
Easiest comparison is actually the Tyranids from 40K, considering the Zerg are actually based on them.

“Wait a minute these are the guts they were gonna fight for there homeworld?”
Yup lol. Still think talking it out is a viable solution? 😂

It's a UA-cam tradition! I bet you've offended Hannah now.
ahahahah def not! And I made the shirt!!
@@AndrewD8Red
Wait, really?
@@HannaHsOverInvested
I guess you couldn't sell that shirt because of copyrighted logos. Otherwise I'd buy it in a heartbeat!
And just in case, I'm sorry I didn't comment First just in case I was supposed to!
Though I suspect Andy is just being 'funny'
@@sarahscott5305
I don't know why it's become a thing to comment First, but it's not really a tradition, I doubt Hannah would care really!
I've read Dominion Required now, too. And what's more, I'll read Magic when it gets here! I know it's out of sequence, but I don't care!
If you don't get your simulation finished, I'm going to text you a big-ass list of spoilers.

@@HannaHsOverInvested did you find it :)
kind of like dreadlocks, or braids with to many beads
(Protoss tech is very magic-looking, very soft sci-fi.)
Extremely short version of the SCII meta plot: Xel'Naga = Valar, Amon = Morgoth, the Koprulu sector = First Age Middle Earth
Q from Star Trek.... smh. What a guy haha
Making friends with the mindless Zerg on Aiur is like negotiating with the cockroaches invading your pantry.
(Probably some build in safeguard to prevent the merge from happening too soon)
This is the simplified version, there's many more branches and intricacies to the story.
I love your criticism of the recap, especially on how it would look in-universe. The way you put it is both funny and informative.
🤣🤣thank you! I'm glad.
the simplest way i can describe the zerg is a owner with a lot (almost infinite) guard dogs, you can't really negotiate with something that's only been bred to attack and defend.
Thank you!!
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 thank you so much for buying my book! I hope you love it.

Peace-talking with the Zerg is strongly akin to going outside your farm, watching acres of your fields devoured by enormous verminous locusts, and trying to talk them out into leaving your fields.

HannaH: It was a trick!
"We've Been Tricked, We've Been Backstabbed and We've Been Quite Possibly, Bamboozled"
Zerg only have one objective: consume everything in their path
there's no reasoning, no compromise and no mercy
it's literally either u die or they do, and their number is endless
Your volume is great. Your audio was good and the video was perfect. I could understand everything. I'm super impressed with the quality of your videos from your phone. Thanks for your reactions
Thank you so much!! Google Pixel hahahah!
If they are truly your friends, then they will tell you the harsh truth. And if they are truly your friends, even if you get angry with them for telling the truth, your friendship will not end.
Pretty much the zerg (giant bug creatures) are being told what to do and always must obey the masters will.
Protoss are all connected thought there thoughts and emotions as Artanis said (the leader of the protoss)
The only way for them to be friends is if Artanis (Protoss leader) and Kerrigan (zerg swarm leader) if there is something between them that they both can accept to fight against, as also said Amon the god that wants to rid of this cycle.
In the zerg protos fight video when you watched the two protoss guys (High Templar units) merge in two one (Archon unit), that you can do in the real game with the two units!
You just have to use your imagination because there's more conversation than fancy movies hahaha

Found a REALLY shorter version which didn't sound too confusing (all games including the sequel).

Loved the vid 😊
I was thinking about what you said about the heavy deposition in a story.
