This week was such a fun video to film! We rarely get to see Tyler’s family so having them here and helping with the house build was truly magical! It might have been a round about way, but we hope we answered your questions and helped to make sense of why we are always working on so many projects at the same time. Don’t forget, this Wednesday October 18 our new podcast launches, so make sure you head over to Tangents with Tyler and Todd to subscribe so you don’t miss it, see you Wednesday! www.youtube.com/@tangentswithtylerandtodd

I'd like to remind everybody that Todd isn't being cheap, he's being traditional. Before the advent of plumbing, that was the way for everybody to wash, unless you used a nearby creek or lake. (Sometimes using just a small basin and a very small towel, wiping yourself clean with the towel. (Been there, done that.))

So great Tyler’s skilled, capable parents could help - I think it’s terrific that you can fit in social time with family and friends! (Happy birthday, Eddie! 🥳🧁🎾You’ve had roadblocks and setbacks - I think you’re making wonderful progress, all things considered. The complainers may be waiting for the’ big reveal’ like you see on other shows, but those are a) often cosmetic refreshes of an older, finished house, b) tied into municipal services, and c) are edited from footage shot over months of work - often you can see the seasons have changed. And many are shot in the southern U.S., where they have a longer building season. You keep doing you, with your loving family around you, and we’ll keep watching! Thank you for inviting us along! (And I’m sure sometimes setting up cameras, explaining, etc. takes longer than It would if you just did the job without recording.)

What may seem to many like total kaos is two people, with professional assistants locating and resolving problems and then resuming with their organized plans - I marvel at how you both work together to resolve problems and you recognize when you need professional help you never hesitate and lordy Todd/Tyler's fix-it Dad and Mom helped resolve the major problem with the power - now there is further work to be done but I can't write how much I admire the stick-to-it attitude of you both and having family gatherings are most important as you both certainly realize. The explanation on the swimming pool/hot tub made total sense in your climate and I am continually amazed how you both never give up until the job is done. I have written it before and I will write it again, I am totally amazed and impressed by both of you - that is the highest degree of respect and honor I can give you both and when your home is completed and you have your greenhouse yet to come and other projects lined up you will end up not with a Buckingham Palace but a Tyler and Todd Palace in the woods of Nova Scotia.

I know that the building difficulties and delays are frustrating. We have been trying to build a custom home for the past 2 years with contractors doing the work. It has been so frustrating with delays with getting supplies and contractors, also. Seeing your videos helps give some patience. It would have been so much easier and cheaper to find another home already built. However, it would not be our vision and be a place that we would fully enjoy. We have electric, plumbing and just finished with rough drywall and slowly moving forward to closer to completion. Congratulations on your slow but steady progress.

I relate to the seemingly 'haphazard' schedule. Often, you have to balance other people's schedules with your own schedule, or have to wait for a part to be shipped in, or have to wait for section B to get built before you can continue with section C. Construction projects are seldom linear. It's more like throwing darts at a moving dart board. Things get done as they get done. Love the video! Peace!!

Building a custom home especially in a remote area is not for the faint of heart. There are always unexpected challenges even for seasoned builders. I pretty much figured out the reason you seemed to be jumping from one project to another, but many who haven't experienced renovating or building from the ground up, may have wondered what was up. Smart to fill everyone in on how things can change direction with any construction project. One always has to be prepared to pivot and you both have become masters of it. Good on you! I can't wait to see how things develop in the house. Don't skip any details. I want to see it all...the highs, the lows, the good, the bad and even the seriously ugly.

don't worry about critics who think you're bouncing around! it's clear you guys have a solid plan and you want to put out weekly videos so of course you're not going to have 100% completion on things in a nice narrative story when you have SUCH a big project you're working on ! this is no simple basement diy do-over here

Guys, having to figure out stuff like this I'd called "Life" you really just moved in. It takes a year to live in a used home to get it the way you like it and figure out your home the way you like it and understand it.
You two should know by now the above rules. No matter what size home you get and no matter how old or new it is, you will have quirks and bumps. The one great thing you have where you are is called "family" they are always there to help.
Moving to a warm climate is great. I did it almost 20 years ago from Northern Michigan. Never looked back, BUT I have family here when I need them.
Your issues will be wherever you go. They are the first to jump in the moving truck. Always keep that in mind.
That said, come to South Florida, there is a problem, though, you cannot walk on water here. To visit Fort Lauderdale. I will show you around, and you can unwind here. Love you guys. 3:56

I never would have guessed your family was from Newfoundland Tyler because I never notice you with an accent. Todd's eastern accent comes out a lot though. I had to laugh at poor Todd in this eppy because your Dad set him up for so many jokes. I don't know if it was your editing or just him holding his tongue but I would have loved hearing his inner monologue. Anyway, glad things are moving forward for you guys and I'm looking forward to your podcast.

GREAT way to frame all the set backs and delays. WONDERFUL to finally meet Tyler's folks - and even better to see that they pitch in and help out without reservation! I'm only a 'tad' confused - being a patreon (without spilling beans... or is that tea?) - I had the feeling that you were DONE with the pool project..... Guess the 'framing in this episode indicates it will move on in the spring! SO GOOD to see that you have power to the shipping container home now. Adam your electrician is a ROCK STAR - and I hope the electric supply house replaced the incorrect sized fixtures free! Power, plumbing..... it is finally getting 'real'! Regardless if you go back to the 'cabin in the woods' siding or not - the home is REALLY SHAPING UP! Embrace what is - and let what isn't go..... Cant wait till 'Tangents' on Wednesday!!!!
