Back on the bank with Papa West in search of a decent stamp of commercial fishery Perch. So far being unsuccessful we decided to go back to basics and refine our approach. So equipped with cage feeder and float, maggots and worms we set out to German lane fishery.

Your dads tactics was absolutely spot on . Float overdepth and movement in and out and twitching . 👍 On the feeder you need to inject the worm so it's up from the bottom and creates the movement.

Definitely one of my favourite fisheries… I witnessed 2 match fishermen on this lake last week catch like 40+ fish… it was insane!!! Love them perch papa west had lil chunks them! , you will smash this year Matt💪💪💪💪💪

Took my daughter out just before new year to our local lake - the wind was so bad it managed to snag the line around the quiver tip on her brand new just got for xmas daiwa matchman rod and snapped off the tip during her 2nd ever cast with it - we were both gutted - although she did still manage to a 12lb common using the lighter tip! I only got into method feeding in summer and it has taken over - love it.
Oh no that’s awful! Although the tips shouldn’t break that easy. She has been unlucky there 😫 still a great fish to christen it with. I’m sure the company you bought it off would replace 👌🏻💪🏻🎣

It was very cold that day 😂 but our efforts were rewarded! Great perch papa west! And I got my first ever chub that day too on the westys pink wafters 😁

over the years of fishing,I've worked out that when the Perch mature and get bigger they prefer live baits.They don't seem to take maggots,but will take bunches of worms on a larger hook.

We fished those pegs today cage feeders maggots worms float set ups as well. Fished those pegs as we usually do. Frozen pond surface in places but enough water.
I blanked and buddy got perch, roach, and skimmers by the snags.

great video new years eve was very cold i went on my local club fishing pond in astley inbetween christmas and new year didnt have a knock tried everything normally a great fishery but i dont think the weather has helped my gear is packed away now ready for better weather love watching your take on things its great when you can go with your dad and have many hours together having fun i am going to try many of the fisheries you have suggested in the series as chorley/euxton are not far away i have fished harrys a few time now after seeing you videos and really enjoyed the fishing

Love the perch sessions, never thought of using prawns for perch.
One of my scariest moments when fishing for Perch at grimsargh reservoir fishing off the jetty lifted one out a couple of feet when a massive pike jumped out of the water and attacked it I thought it was a shark and absolutely shit myself haha

Happy New Year just to say thanks for the Videos and advice all my biggest fish have been on the Westy’s pink Wafters. I lost my Rod and Reel on peg 22 at partridge lakes after watching the video I thoughtI would try it but the carp stole my kit. I put it down to learning how to watch my rod while pouring my coffee 😂😂😂😂

Shame about the baitrunner on your reel westy, they dont make em like they used too, the daiwa regals i've been using for carping are probably as old as me (early 90s) still going strong.

Another enjoyable video - I reckon the reason you were missing so many bites on the maggot feeder was your hook length was too long. In winter, fish, including carp, won’t bite & move off as readily as they do in warmer months.👍🏻 Anyway, Happy New Year to you & Papa Westie and may all you wish for come to you in 2025.👍🏻🎣🎣
