Hey man how r u. I was wondering. Probably dumb. Is this the same procedure for a 08 Volkswagen rabbit? 6 speed. And should i get the kit on amazon? Or should i get more expensive solenoids
I ordered the Wolfsburg Solenoid kit and it does provide helpful instructional information about the re-learning procedure as well as an illustration of the solenoids and where they go. I'm doing this now. I suggest if you're doing this on ramps, use a screw jack to hold the valve body in place while you unbolt it. I also placed the wires into the undercarriage in their perspective place before removing the valve body to help me when I put it back in. Planning to use the same screw jack to lift it in place. You're biggest issue might be holding the spring and accumulator piston in place as you put the valve body back in. I read that you could hold it with vaseline. Does anyone know how this may be done? I'm ready for the install part.
Can you update me with your results? Would you reccomend me to go for it?
@@being-sport3664 I was able to do it with no problem. I did have to lower the valve body after install because I didn't pay attention to the source of the wiring harness on the front side and one wire was hung up as I raised the body back in place. I only had to lower it slightly to re-route that wire and gain the length needed to re-attach it in place.
Slow and easy.
I bought magnifying glasses with an led light off Amazon. Since I was only working with the car on a ramp those glasses made all the difference in seeing the details since it was dark down there. Proud of the result and had emailed Wolfsburg with a concern during adaptation/relearning. They responded immediately and their suggestions solved my issue.
@@lildoggy4u thanks for the reply mate. Im gonna take the whole gearbox out so i guess i wont have issues with assembly
My transmission code is KGL will these fit? I don't know if i need large or small solenoids
Was this repair done because the trans was slipping and shifting hard ?? i have a 2006 Passat just bought from a guy. that is my issue. 1-2 shifts hard / slips..... 2-3 slips ....and 3-4 same. Thanks Tim
what's the solenoid relearn procedure?
Should be just plug n play. The TCU does the thinking the solenoids just send the info to it.
Can you check the transmission values and other properties using obd eleven? Do you have a video for the reset procedure of solenoids?
I was experiencing hard shifts and surges in my 2005 Volkswagen Beetle. I bought this kit, installed it and it runs like new now. It took about 10-15 miles for the trans to relearn the shifting. It was pretty jerky at first. Everything smoothed out. Thanks Wolfsburg!
Does Wolfsburg Tuning, have a video for a Transmission Input Speed Sensor replacement?
Is the Input and Output 2 different sensors, please send links.
All for a MK5 2008 VW GTI 2.0T FSI Automatic Tranny.
Very informational. I got the kit with all 8 solenoids. Should I just install the six like you said? And 5 quart of transmission fluid, correct? I’ll be trying this job on Friday. Need as much information as possible.
Nice video.. I've seen some tutorials for this type of trans, i will eventually install new solenoids on my passat, just i have a doubt, does anybody knows if you have to adjust the solenoids?? there are like type of screws on each solenoid that you can adjust clockwise or counterclockwise before the relearn process.. if so when you have to perform this adjustment? Thanks
What model # auto trans would the 2008 Jetta 2.0t Wolfsburg Edition have?
I have a 2017 passat with the same transmission. I'm truly disappointed these weren't recalled
Great explanation. Really terrific detailed and methodical review. Easy out and easy back in.
Are all of the bolts that hold the valve body in place the same length? Do I need to worry about ensuring that the bolts go back into the same hole they came out of?
The bolts are different sizes. I just pressed them into a piece of cardboard from an old box in their rightful places along with the 2 brackets that must be removed along with their respective bolts.
Most of them are the same length. There is a couple longer ones.
Thank you for the great video! How do you reset the car?
Daniel Carpenter same question
could this be used with 2018 2.0tsi passat ?
I just changed the solenoids and I followed the steps as perfect as I can . When put fluid and tried to put it in drive and neutral and then reverse it jumped big time when i moved the gear selector . Does it matter if I over torqued the shift selector bracket in the valve body ? I made sure I placed the pin where it belongs . I know I need more fluid . Not having enough fluid would cause that jump in shifting? Any one knows . Thanks !
I Z something else could be wrong
Thank you! I ordered from your website and install them. Now transmission is back to its glory days!!

What is the max safe ATF operating temperature for the 09G? We are getting 104 deg C or 219 deg F after a half hour of suburban driving in our Mk 5 Golf - is this too high? Would a faulty valve body calls a 2014 Jetta 1.8T to not have reverse? It seems like every other gears works on my vehicle. Thanks for the video!
Nice video. I have a question what was the problem the gearbox had that you needed to replace it?
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe its that big dent in the pan. I didn't know the solenoids ever went bad.
Is there any benefit in replacing the entire valve body with a remanufactured one as opposed to just replacing the linear solenoids alone? Does the refurb process do anything to the valve body itself that is germane to the flaired and hard shifts problem? Thanks
Good question. I pulled the full valve body out of a junk car and going to swap the full thing instead of replacing the solenoids. I didn't know that was an option when I started this project.
Thank you very much, brother. Please tell me. I have a malfunction in the automatic transmission. I want to send you a video of what it does.

Hi Fernando. Some cars have the drain plug and the riser integrated into one (like the one in this video). First you unplug, then you get your tool farther in to unscrew the riser. On other cars they may be separate. In this case the riser doesn't have to come off.

Anybody know the torque spec on the brackets that hold the pins on the solenoids?

2006 VW Jetta here. Transmission was starting to bang gears once it was warmed up and hot. I mean when upshifting it would ‘hang’ in Neutral, Rev High, then bang to the next gear. Not good. So the fluid and filter have been replaced and that took care of the banging. But now when the car is hot and it shifts up, it hangs between gears, leaving the driver helpless, when you press the gas pedal to go it just Revs the engine like in Neutral until it finally shifts. So, should I look for a solenoid package or do I have to do the whole valve body? Thanks!
It is usually a solenoid issue, but it is always a good idea to scan the vehicle for trouble codes before replacing any parts. It could also be a valve body issue. There's no easy way to diagnose if the issue is in the valve body vs a solenoid issue. It simply comes down to how much money you are willing to put into the vehicle and how much time you have to work out the issues. If you plan to keep the car for a long time, I would recommend a rebuilt valve body. Our (Wolfsburg Tuning ) re-manufactured valve bodies come with all solenoids and a Lifetime Warranty. The valves in the valve body wear out which changes the pressures in the transmission. This has a negative effect on the mechanical parts in the transmission. If it is a solenoid issue our solenoid set would correct the problem. Keep in mind, if you choose to replace the solenoids, that you will have new solenoids in a valve body with wear. The valve body will eventually need to be replaced.

I once had a leak when I put a pan on and filled it. The pan was bent but you can't see it without a perfectly flat surface to lay it on. That was a replacement pan for one that was dented. The listing shown a OEM pan but the one they sent me must have been a different or even generic copy. I sent it back. I should have left some bad feedback to teach that bastard a lesson. It is because of that I don't like taking the pan off. That was when I was still using the the dealer's fluid and not Type T-IV (that was an older car).
Damn, what did you hit to put that kind of damage on the transmission pan??
Good Job. How do you mark the wires to make sure they go back correctly? Is there anything that will drop out of the valve body, like springs, ball bearings once removed? Also, are there any gaskets to worry about when reinstalling valve body? Thanks

My 2013 Passat has a T55 plug I can take out and add fluid through. What I do is run a clear vinyl tube to it and and stick a funnel in the end of that and fill from above. I just wedge something soft in the fill hole to hold the tube in place but big enough not to fall in there. I also keep a clean drain pan down there in case I lose fluid accidentally then I have a chance of using that fluid still. My Passat uses G 055 540 A2 and that is really just very expensive WS fluid. I used Toyota WS last time with good results. I will use it this time too. The 2006 Jetta I had would have taken Type T-IV. Being that they are Aisin transmissions that are similar to Toyota transmissions it was easy to get the fluid a lot cheaper. For the price of VW fluid you can get 3 bottles of Toyota branded fluid and it works just as well. Just avoid those multi spec fluids you find in Walmart and all of the parts stores, they only are truly one of those specs and not the one that you need. There are a lot of similar fluids but going by viscosity alone could come back and bite you!! Is the gasket reusable? I like how they fit on the pan and don't need silicone or other stuff to scrape off. When I see videos of other people doing their fluid they have maybe 30 bolts and no drain plug (ugh).

Your issue is most likely in the valve body or the solenoids. The only way to know for sure is to measure the pressure at the ports in the transmission. That requires a hydraulic oil gauge.
It is not possible to know exactly if it is in the valve body or just the solenoids without removing the valve body and testing it on a machine.
Unless you have solenoid specific trouble codes. The most common failure is the solenoids.
